Visited for the first time on Saturday. Solid and imaginative menu. Not only do they feature kimchi they make their own. Seafood is the priority but sufficient alternatives. We had delicious fried oysters. I had this wagyu beef rice bowl. Rice bowls are a thing for me. We make them at home. Well executed. My wife had salmon with her salad. Me, I would have marinated my salmon in miso before broiling so I found it a bit plain but it was we'll assembled. I'm just not a plain salmon fan. The place is tiny and the bar area is very tight. But we did get a spot at the bar (for three) after about 40 minutes so a seat without a reservation is do-able. Pleasantly surprised with wine-by-glass prices compared to some of our other local haunts. Good cocktails too. read more

Not a great experience... we brought friends and and found the service pretentious and the food underwhelming and expensive(a bit embarrassing, as it was our choice). We so wanted to like this restaurant, as it's close to our summer home. Probably won't be going back as there are better options in the area. :( read more

Don't make a reservation. We emailed the owners because they don't have online reservations. They emailed us back that we were all set for 8:15. We showed up and host had no idea about it. Said the owners don't communicate with the staff. We emailed the owner and he responded with "expect the unexpected at Epic Oyster". Had dinner here last week. Enjoyed some great Wellfleet oysters, lobster tacos (amazing) and a beef and shrimp ramen dish. We sat at the bar and received top-notch service. This is the place to go when you're looking for great, quality food. read more

Been going here for years but recently had a horrible experience with the owner and will not be returning ever. Had a piece of plastic apparently from a Tabasco wrapper from an order of bang bang shrimp. Was telling our waitress who is great and an older waiter jumped in focusing on what type.of plastic it was an arguing about it. As opposed to the fact my wife.almoat chocked. The older male.waiter then came back to show.us the plastic to prove it was.from.a tabasco.wrapper. again missing the point and was a little.aggressive.anout it. We asked foe the manager, the owner came and after a brief discussion, where he did not apologize or seem apologetic, he told us we could leave if we wanted. So we did. Besides that experience there are some other shortfalls. High prices and small portions and don't order anything with chicken. It's awful. Certainly won't go there again and will be letting everyone know as my wife's family has been down here for 60 years. We have had friends who have had the same experience with the owner. What a great find in the quiet side of Falmouth. In a sea of boring fried seafood torists traps, this place shines as example of how to do seafood right. The raw bar is packed with delicious options along with a wide variety of wines and spirits. The atmosphere is very cozy with a friendly local crowd and staff trying to hide from the hordes of bostonians flooding the cape. The lobster roll is packed and juicy and the fisherman's stew was delicious and packed with fat mussels. Btw both of these two items were the most ordered items on the menu, if that tells you anything. The only issue I had with the place was that the prices on the large entrees were a bit pricy for the size of the portions. However if they were to either lower their prices a bit or increase the portion sizes, I would give them 5 stars in a heart beat. read more

Decent food...limited menu, very small and very very noisy. Have been here three times this summer because my wife likes it. You literally have to shout to be heard since the space has no sound absorbing material and the ceiling is shaped like a U so all the sound reflects like the Hatch shell. The tables are small. The food really depends on what you order. One time I had the cod skillet which was greasy due to the linguica. Another time I had the special which was very good. My first time at epic oyster. We sat outside on picnic benches but inside is a great bar. Let's get one thing out of the way.. this place is OVERPRICED. But that's life in the summertime on cape cod. You are not getting any "deals" here. So if you are looking for a bargain, you must go elsewhere. If you are ok getting railroaded on vacation..proceed. Great selection of fresh local oysters. A big portion of the menu consists of Poke bowls, which consist of rice, egg, peppers, seaweed, tomatoes, avocado, and edamame. From there you can choose from chicken, tuna, teriyaki salmon or steak. I got the salmon and it was delicious. Decent portions and healthy. We also ordered the cheese board which was very nice. Great wine selection and service. Very friendly. read more

The oysters on the half shell here are magnificent/delectable/perfection. The minuets and sauces are just so so. I find the meals are often disappointing, although my daughters have had some excellent meals over the summer. The first time: a cup of chowder that was just awful and a crab roll that was fine on the inside but the roll itself was just gross. The second time : a pokey bowl that was pretty good. Third time: fried medley of seafood which was a mixed bag - an oyster that was funky & some seriously over cooked squid. read more

Another epic meal. Very different and better than most Falmouth Restaurants. Great service. Had both raw and grilled oysters. Tasty and fresh. Followed by crab cakes- excellent - and fresh Caesar salad. Portuguese rolls and honey butter were the perfect accompaniment. Miso cod was outstanding. And complementary cookies topped off a great meal. Yes it's pricey but definitely worth it in the Falmouth area. Good drinks and wine list too. We had a great dinner with many many juicy oysters at Epic Oyster tonight. It was crowded and busy but the wait staff found us two seats at the bar where we could see all the action. Oysters were of all varieties and locations. Dinner was fresh sword and halibut which was delicious. The only negative of the night was the very long wait for dinner to arrive. Fried oysters are hit or miss. Sometimes they come out small, sweet and tender, other times way too big and not appetizing. The service was great there last summer, but outdoor service was sub par this season. We have been flat out ignored when seated at the bar, which is frustrating because we live in town year round and really want Epic Oyster to be successful! We love the atmosphere and most of the food, but not huge fans of the service and attitudes behind the bar. read more

Whenever traveling the shore I look for an Oyster Bar. Atmosphere was great, small quaint place. I sat at the bar which was nice and they played great rock music! I could peek into the kitchen which is super small and I was amazed at how they can put such fantastic food out of such a small space. I give them tons of credit!! Would give more starts if I could! The food is super high-quality and you can taste it! Fabulous atmosphere and the owner is kind and fun! They are efficient and do a really nice job "managing" the seating at the bar--they take on the work of the bar seating so the customers don't have to stress or jockey for a seat. This review is not about the food as we did not actually stay and eat there. Visited on Tuesday evening. We contemplated eating outside but were concerned about an impending rain storm and I said if it rains we can just move inside. The host said no, if it rains we will pack your food to go to eat at home. Wrong answer. Who wants to spend that much money on a meal and then possibly have to eat it at home cold! So we said we will eat inside and he said all the tables were taken by reservations (most were empty) but we could sit at bar which was fine with us. He found us two seats at end of bar as some seats were taken and the other half of bar was empty as was taken by reservations not there yet. The bartender asked us what we wanted to drink and my husband ordered ice tea. No ice tea. How about lemonade? No lemonade. The only non alcohol drinks they had were sodas or seltzer or sparkling water. So if you don't drink carbonated beverages your only option is water. Another wrong answer. These two answers were a turn off even before looking at the menu. We would have liked to try the food as many reviews were good however after looking at menu for the price we would like a place with more atmosphere, other beverage options, and it was small and cramped at end of the bar and if all the reserved spots had people in them I am sure may have been a bit noisy. read more

I tried all the oysters, and I was not disappointed! They were so fresh, high quality and amazing with the white wine we ordered. The waitstaff seemed super knowledgeable and helped us navigate the menu and checked back on us often. Recommend making a reservation as the place is small. It will be worth it! Love this place! Adorable inside and excellent food! We couldn't believe how big the menu was with plenty to eat for non-seafood eaters as well. Loved the oysters, we tried four different kinds and all were so fresh and delicious. Great wine selection as well. Can't wait to go back! Insanely unfortunate. We were visiting my father who lives in Mashpee from Denver and he was telling us how much he heard about Epic and how great it was, so we planned ahead and made a 5pm reservation right when the opened via Open Table. We have 3 kids, and one with a high chair which we noted in the reservation. We got dressed up and packed up the kids and family so excited to have great oysters and seafood seeing we live in land locked state and the seafood is no where close to Cape Cod. We arrive and ask for a high chair, a simple and overly common request. The hostess told us they didn't have one, no apology, no offer for anything else, simply said they don't have high chairs. A male server passed by and said "you can put him on your lap." Are you kidding me? That's the solution? If you don't want to be kid friendly than come out and say it, but you are in a travel destination for families and don't cater to them. It just blows my mind, literally a few days before we went to Del Frisco's Steakhouse in Boston, a fine dining steakhouse and they have high chairs, and before that we went to a brewery in Scituate and they had high chairs. Seems Epic cares zero about families and didn't even apologize when we had to leave. Sad site, I wish you the best but if you are going with any youngsters, trust us, they don't want you. read more

A large group of us visited the restaurant recently. I had made a reservation for the 9 of us and was told that 7pm would be the best time. At 6:40 I received a call from the restaurant asking why we weren't there for our 6:30 reservation. I told the person that our reservation was at 7pm but we'd be right there as I live on the same street. When we were seated the hostess told me that our tables were needed for 8:30pm reservations. Thought that was weird. We had to wait to put in our drink orders and had to ask to order appetizers and dinner. Our check came at 8:25 and was paid at 8:30. (By the way, we spent almost $600.) We were finishing our wine and the cookies that the restaurant gave us. What happened next is why we will NEVER return. The OWNER of the place came out of the kitchen and told us, in a hostile manner, that we had to leave NOW, pointed at people standing at the bar and said "All of those people are waiting for these tables, you were late for your reservation and have to leave NOW!" I couldn't believe it! I told him that we were not late, the restaurant mixed up the times, we didn't appreciate his attitude and told him what we had just paid. He turned away from us angrily and returned to the kitchen. The following week, as I was telling someone this unbelievable story, the same thing happened in January to some friends of ours! The food is very good but that guy lost ALOT of future potential customers. read more

Really great - just the flavor "different from the rest" to allow oneself to actually take it all in and enjoy the experience. The decor is a mix of vintage vinyl and concerts, an homage to live music and concerts. The food is fantastic - fresh ingredients, incredible quality steak, and the attention to cocktails and beer found a special place in my palate. This place is not like any other in Bourne, or nearby. I would strongly recommend bringing your significant other here for a taste of unique flavor and quality, in an otherwise relatively stale strip of restaurants, this place shines. I would go back again, without a doubt, only bring more people with me to enjoy it also. read more

So I'm really kind of at a loss for words right now. I went for dinner the other day and I can honestly say I haven't had a worse meal in the last year of my life. I live in Boston and I have been coming to Falmouth every summer since I was a baby. I use to love the old diner for breakfast so I was excited when something new popped up. These are the reasons I would not visit this restaurant again for another year, hopefully they will take people's complaints and change and refine their menu and their service as well. I ordered a chicken rice bowl. I don't know what I was thinking because it's rice and chicken for 20 dollars and the flavors just did not work out. Their was basically no rice and a strange sauce on top of the chicken with seaweed salad? Unappetizing to say the least. I ordered a lemonade, that was three dollars and they charge you for refills. My mother got a lobster roll and I honestly haven't laughed that hard in a while. I felt really bad for my her but I figured it was a simple mistake by the chef that could be corrected. When the manager and ALSO owner came over to talk with us, my mom told her it seems that they forgot the lobster in the roll. She said she was sorry but they measure 5 ounces of lobster in each roll. This roll was 25 dollars and I kid you not maybe had one claw worth inside it all you could see was lettuce and bread. My moms face made me feel awkward. They could have done anything differently maybe said I'm sorry I'll see what the chef can do, or even offered to show the chef what he let leave the kitchen but she didn't she just said I can take it back if you want to order something else. When you're in the mood for lobster you don't really want to eat anything else. So she ate her two fork full's of lobster and payed 25 for it. If you want to charge city prices for simple food make it worth while. We payed and went to the car here's the kicker subsequently the car next to us was a married couple, they overheard my mom and my conversation and said the same thing just happened to them with the lobster roll!! I hope they can take Into consideration the complaints people make because it honestly just was a really sad experience and I had such high hopes :( please improve. read more

I never ever write reviews- but with Epic Oyster I have to. First let me say, I have grown up 2 feet from this place and have been dying to try it for several weeks. I've seen many restaurants come and go in this spot and was really hoping for a winner. So after several weeks of seeing it be slammed, I decided to use their email address provided on the website and ask for a reservation (5 days in advance). I hear back from the owner, who informed me she wasn't at the restaurant but would confirm when she returned. A few hours later she confirmed a date and time, and I figured we were all set. Flash forward to Saturday night we arrive for our reservation and the hostess can't find our name. I show her my email and she informs me the owner is the one who confirmed and that she does this all the time and that "she's told her not to take reservations anywhere but the phone". The owner then sees her mistake and says she will sit us at the bar. After 5 minutes however she tells us people have been waiting for a bar seat for over an hour and she can't accommodate us. She and her hostess then proceeded to discuss how after this week they will only take reservations via the phone. So the thing that bothers me the most here, is that there was no attempt to rectify THEIR MISTAKE. I grew up in this town, worked at many restaurants during the summer, I get it mistakes happen. But to unapologetically discuss amongst themselves how they will correct the problem going forward, is not something I want to hear after you ruined our night. How about what can you do for us? A 20 dollar gift card or really anything except for bickering back and forth about how to not let this happen again would have been better. read more

It's hard to narrow down our favorites. The lobster ravioli had a spicy kick. The crab cakes were great. We mixed them with one of the salads. The clam chowder was one of the best we've ever had. The lobster bisque was perfect with the cold weather outside. After trying what felt like half of the menu, my families only regret is that they tried grilled and raw but not oysters Rockefeller. The grilled oyster were excellent. Small restaurant in the middle of North falmouth, very homey and comfortable. Make your reservation ahead of time if it's during the summer season. We came in during the off-season on a week day and it was packed. read more

This is a great place! It's very small but the food, service and atmosphere is great! The menu is creative and gourmet, the fish, whether Portuguese stew or cod is fabulous! I'm sure the other offerings measure up also. It's a little expensive if you have more than 1 drink, but still worth it. The owner even walks around to see how things are going...What? We were very excited to try this place after moving here full time from Boston - we need that great go to place ! Sad to say .. we were rather disappointed ! The positives were the place has been re done beautiful and it's fun and inviting ! The menu was hopeful and wine list nice ! Our server Trenton was certainly nice but just not great ! He should know the menu better and have opinions ... on what is great or describe how things are prepared ! We ordered the shellfish tower and that was a good bet - then Trenton just keep at is to order every 5 minutes ! We explained we would be ordering but wow he would not let up ! We had been ordering cocktails so he was making his money ! ( but bar was backed up so drinks took 15-20 minutes ) Our first order , clam chowder came out cold ! How could that happen ??? Pretty simple order .. another disappointment ! Our table was right in the doorway so that made everything difficult as well - we the orders the clams casino and Mozambique - but had to sit and look at our dirty shellfish dishes for a while because Trenton needs better training and attention to customer service. Clams casino was good - Mozambique was good but for a broth based dish ... put in the extra slices of grilled bread ... anticipate customers needs don't make customers ask ! So you know .... we were hopeful ... and I think it has potential but .... fine tune everything ! Train the staff better - pay attention to small details ! read more

My husband and I went on Thursday 7/19 got there at 5:30 with no reservation. We were seated at the bar pretty quickly. The bar seats turn over but check with the hostess to see how it's going. No standing room. We started with oysters. Delicious and fresh. He had the crab roll while I got Portuguese cod. We loved our meals. My cod came with brown rice, Portuguese baked beans, and peppers with linguicia. Delish. The prices were good IMHO ($20 for roll $28 for cod) given height of Cape season. Nice wine list. We'll be back. I would say they can handle parties of 2-4 well but larger groups would be difficult. Great for a date night. read more

I ordered a high end glass of wine, St. Emilion to be exact, and it was turning. Whether it had been opened for days or just a bad cork, it clearly did not taste correct. For the record I have owned a wine store for 16 years and have completed the Elizabeth Bishop wine certification classes at BU. When I asked the lovely bartender Tracy to open a new bottle, the ignorant owner literally YELLED at me "you just don't like it order something else!" When I tried to explain I know my wines he said "I was in the business 30 years and you just don't like the wine order something else!" as rude and ignorant as I have ever been spoken to in any place of business. Lucky for him his bartender Tracy knows his moods and just opened a new bottle and poured a sip for me to try and it was delicious. Clearly the first bottle was turning. We went on to have a decent meal and drinks, but due to the owners rudeness I will never step foot in there again. Clearly he has no idea of the customer is always right, especially when they are right, and you never publicly yell at a patron ESPECIALLY when you didn't even taste the wine yourself. Rookie owner. Wonderful staff. I'll never go back. Plenty of places with just as good food who treat their patrons with respect and wouldn't expect them to pay $15 for a bad glass of wine. read more

Great promise, but needs to be more consistent! Lovely decor and vibe for a new restaurant in North Falmouth! Friendly staff, and some delicious dishes. We had the small plates and the mussels and Bacalao cakes were delicious. But the Oyster Rockefeller and Baked Oysters in Pesto were too dry and really uninteresting for a restaurant that calls itself Epic Oyster. We also tried the Crab and Artichoke dip and it too was dry and the portion was so small that it really seem to disappear. We also waited a long time for our food and it came out all at once which was awkward at best as the table couldn't fit all the plates. Disappointed overall, but will give them another try as it's a new restaurant and they probably are still working out kitchen and timing. Next time we will order some of the larger plates too to see where their sweet spot is! We really want this restaurant to be successful! read more
