In the olden days, I was a huge fan of Oscar's breadsticks. From the first time I had one, way back in 1991, I was hooked. It always felt like such a score to be given a free breadstick while waiting in line to order more of the breadsticks! But, move over Oscars (also known as Pat and Oscars..and O's American Kitchen) - Wings-N-Things has a far better breadstick. Bigger, lighter tasting, and with all the greasy, buttery goodness of Oscars. I would come to Wings-N-Things just to eat those breadsticks. I usually order the honey BBQ chicken strips when I come here. They are slathered in enough sauce that you get that satisfying pool on your plate. You get a huge portion, enough to get full while you eat in the restaurant plus take a few home for the next day. Instead of fries or other more traditional included sides, you get a few carrot and celery sticks along with a teeny plastic container of dressing. I actually like the mild, crunch of those veggies next to all that gooey goodness of the wings. There are TV's placed around the eating area and they are tuned to sports stations but the sound is very low so it's not too much of a distraction if you don't happen to live for baseball or football or whatever ball. A descent place and the wings are pretty good. I like how you can order dry rub wings, I personally don't like my wings dripping wet with sauce. I prefer to dip them in my sauce. Be warned that if you come here on a Friday night during school season, it will be jam packed with high school kids. Nothing wrong with that, just be warned. No really WiFi offering, which I'm my opinion definitely is not a good thing. With everywhere going high tech, and being able to connect at any restaurant, this is a must have option. There is a connection, but it is spotty and doesn't always work. It is pretty much a try it and see kind of offering. I the prices are slightly high for the amount of food you actually get, the wings are not very meaty. So if your going to charge a premium for your food, offer some other low cost perks such as awesome WiFi, Advance check-in for seating when it's super busy, hostess seating for fairness. I have had a number of occasions people taking seats before they order to get a jump on people waiting in line. Especially a single person. Overall, I like it though. I eat here approximately once a week and the good thing is, it is very consistent in food quality and taste. I always know exactly what I'm getting. It's no wonder that these are the best wings in San Diego. I just keep coming back every week. The chicken is never dry for me, and they don't skimp on the sauce at all. The breadsticks are made fresh as well and they're sooo tasty! They're comparable to the breadsticks from O's American Kitchen right across the parking lot, maybe a little less garlic-y. I love dipping them in the sauces that they pour on top of the chicken. You know how some places under rate their spices and you get a mild but then it comes in burning your mouth? Wing N Things doesn't do that. Their sauce hotness ratings are fair in that they fit what they're supposed to be. There's a bar in the back for beer on tap that you can also go to, which is nice. There's also plenty of seating both inside and outside, and there are tv screens everywhere. The servers are friendly as well. You do have to flag them down though, since they don't check on you very often. However, they are happy to help. The cashier was super nice and helpful. I ordered 2 double meals, thinking that since i wanted different sauces for each meal, that that was what I needed. She then told me that she went ahead and just put it in as a family meal and split it into 2 since it'd be cheaper for the same amount of food, which was perfect. I did find it weird though that they don't really have that many trashcans around, which is inconvenient to get to if you're sitting in the front of the store. We asked our server if we were supposed to leave them, and he said that he would be the one taking care of that. I saw that a couple other tables did it too. When you finish your meal you just leave it on the table for them to clean up for you. I wish I could just throw them away on my own, since the plates and utensils are all disposable. Or what if I did need to throw something away? I'd have to go to the trash can outside. I just feel bad leaving a pile of disposable plates and napkins at the table, when I could've helped the workers a little by throwing them away on my own. I did find out on the next trip here that there were 2 trash cans in the very back, but I never would've seen it from the front of the space. If you're a normal person you can forgo the veggies for an extra breadstick. As for the wings themselves, they come as regular, boneless or strips. All are roughly the same though my personal favorite are boneless. As to the sauces, just get blue cheese. The wings come in a spectrum of mild to atomic spicy choices as well as several other flavors. My personal favorite (and all my friends) is the sweet chili. The better choice is their pizza strip option. They're bread bottom topped with chicken of your flavor and spiciness and cheese. They make everything so it does take a bit for the order to go through so spend your time with with friends or watching the game. The company is honestly probably what makes Wings, Wings. Here you'll find workers from camel valley on break, sports fans, and of course high school students from, well everywhere. It's a very popular spot for everyone and the servers are all really cool. Like all good wing joints, the restaurant is fitted with a full array of flat screens both inside and out on the patio. The patio also has heaters, though anyone ordering their wings hot and above won't have to worry about being cold. I've never had a bad experience with wings other than feeling really full afterwards. I'm a big fan of wings n' things. I've been to a lot of other locations, but the Carmel mountain location is a different story. This location has plenty of seating, as well as a bar area. They have craft beer on tap (ballast point, stone, Karl Strauss, etc.) and bottled beer (dos Equis, corona, Sierra Nevada, and others). They also have flat screen tv's, so I was able to watch a nba playoff game while I was there. If you're into wings and strips, this is definitely a place I would recommend. The buffalo sauce heat level ranges from mild-atomic (mild, medium, hot, extra hot, atomic). They also have additional flavors like garlic, lemon-pepper, sweet chili, and BBQ. You can actually mix and match flavors. So I chose to get extra hot and lemon pepper chicken strips. Perfect balance of heat with a hint of lemon. Came here to pick up takeout tonight for the first time since COVID 19 outbreak and it seemed that the restaurant wasn't really practicing social distancing or wearing masks. They kept their front door closed and people were in line like how they would be regularly when ordering and picking up! Disappointing.. no one was taking charge to at least maybe mark the floor (6 feet distance) or keep the door opened so people aren't crowding in line and in front of the cashier. I'm not posting this to be a troll because Wings-N-Things came out on top of the San Diego A-List. Far from it. I like the A-list. But I've been meaning to leave a review and it just so happened to coincide with the release of the "best of" in the city. Unfortunately, Wings-N-Things does not make my list. Short and sweet: the chicken is bland and the sauces are rudimentary. The sweet chili sauce tastes like it came from Panda Frickin' Express and the French fries taste and feel like they were just microwaved from a frozen bag stuck at the back of a grocery store freezer. Zero texture, seasoning, and taste. Kinda like the chicken. The breadsticks are fine but I prefer potatoes with my chicken because obviously I'm just trying to be difficult. One plus I will give is that they sell Jones Soda. I don't actually drink the stuff anymore but it's cool that they have a whole lineup in stock. Because the Escondido location is an abomination to the Wings N Things chain, that's why, but I digress. If you're not getting the tenders, then you're probably one of the people not giving this place 5 stars. Their wings don't have much meat and aren't very consistent. But the tenders are always delicious. I get medium sauce with 5 tenders (the 4 tender combo plus 1 extra for, I think, $1.75) that comes with 2 breadsticks, celery, carrots, a drink, and ranch or blue cheese. There is always extra sauce that you can dunk your breadsticks in so the tenders are never dry. The only downfall is that this place can get busy which means the wait can be long. There was a line to order but it went quick. You place your order and they give you a little tower with a number so when your food is ready they can find you. They have a nice covered outside patio area to sit if inside is too crowded or too loud. The wings were fresh and tasty the breadsticks were awesome and the dipping sauces were good too. They were told they didn't know when our order would be ready! They said they had a lot of orders for 2:30. We are so done with this wings and things! We love wings n things esp my husband who is in keto. We come at least once a week. But a few order has been pretty bad/got the order wrong. We will not be coming back (going to Mira Mesa instead they're awesome!) after calling the manager about our order about having hardly any sauce in our wings (party tray 48pcs!!!). He said bc we ordered mild they only put sauce on the bottom and they don't put much. Weve never had this problem before. We've gotten the same order so many times and tried to explained to him we want mild sauce not NO sauce at all. So, we spent $75 to eat and then when we were all done, TRIED To use bathrooms. Women's bathroom with two stalls was no problem but the men's bathroom ( one stall), was a hazardous mess and they closed it. So what do the men do? I went over to speak to the manager to explain "We live in California; make it an all gender bathroom until you clean up the mess! " I guess that's too logical. Was told that couldn't be done. Thought i come try some wings and some good breadsticks from wings n things. All I keep hearing about is the breadsticks and how good they are, so I thought I put it to the test lol. And wouldn't you know they passed with flying colors. The breadsticks were amazing. A. It crunchy and chewy at the same time. I loved it. The chicken strips were also really good I couldn't complain one bit. The staff was nice and made sure we were okay throughout the whole meal and there was television to watch the games.
