Don't get the peanut butter latte. It tastes like a regular cup of instant coffee. I thought perhaps they got my order wrong but when I took the lid off, I noticed peanut butter floating on the top. As a biased Erehwon member, I clearly like this place. I mostly come for the hot food and sushi. I will say that the sushi is priced similar to the restaurants but it's fresher than any sushi that I've had at the average sushi spot. The variety of the hot bar fits my tastes so it's definitely not for everyone but the average Erehwon shopper would enjoy it. I'll snacks that I can't get at Whole Foods or other places, but that's really it. read more

Just had the most phenomenal culinary experience at this erewhon. Perfect vanilla latte, not too sweet and perfect temp. Followed by the best freshly baked chocolate chip cookie I've ever had...in my life. Thin, crispy crunchy edges, chocolatey soft center. Wow. Then I had my combo meal. Perfectly cooked carne asada with the most delicious white mushroom sauce; I need the recipe! Then garlic broccolini, again perfectly cooked and seasoned--couldn't believe. Ended by mango/cucumber/jicama/avocado salad--refreshing bright crunchy. Erewhon, I've been coming for many years now but you really outdid yourself today. This store had a hungry man arrested when he took a burrito. Then, a Good Samaritan paid for the burrito to make the store whole and at the same time bought an additional $55+ goods which the Good Samaritan never received because the store had him trespassed before he got the goods. The store decided to press charges against the hungry man anyway. After that, the Good Samaritan held a sign outside the store to warn other customers of the lack of morals of store management. While this was happening, an executive of the company became physically aggressive with the Good Samaritan, and ultimately a store employee (current or former, unclear) began physically attacking the Good Samaritan. I wouldn't patronize this business if you flew me on a private jet, put me up in a luxury apartment nearby, and gave me a $10,000 stipend to do so. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I'm sorry but I waited 23 minutes for my smoothie and paid $18 and it's NOT EVEN FILLED TO THE TOP. And literally the guy behind me got one that was filled all the way up. This is so dumb, i should never be paying $18 in the first place but I wanted to try it and there's a huge gap!!! There's no quality control, they just decide ehhh we didn't make enough in this large batch let's just give one unluckily person less. So stupid. Live in the hood and stopped by the other day. I knew Erewhon was pricey but what the heck? I mean this place makes Whole Foods look cheap. I saw some wine(s) that I purchased at wine stores that are jacked up 60% higher. SMH. The store was packed with customers but when I looked at the registers I saw no one checking out EVER. I think most of the people here aren't here to buy groceries, they're here to look at the merchandise and gaggle over the ridiculous prices lol. That's what I did. Wow. The precooked food looks pretty decent. I can't justify paying those prices for premade food when Erewhon is surrounded by tons of restaurants that make food to order. The grocery staff looked not thrilled as they're barely friendly except for the food counter staff who were way more customer focused and cool. How to rate Erewhon...am I rating it as a grocery store or am I rating the Culver location based on whether it was the real Erewhon experience? I think I'll go with the latter. Erewhon is an LA established "thing to do." For most people, it's not a reasonable option for consistent grocery shopping. But as a place to treat yourself to something bougie once or occasionally, I think it's fun! This was my first Erewhon purchase after living in LA for two years! Brought my parents to show them what it was about. The hot bar and coffee bar were pretty popping around 10:30 am on a Thursday (the 4th of July though so was a holiday). Got a "raw gluten-free, vegan cinnamon roll." Was about the size of my palm and it cost $10. Pricey but it's Erewhon (so expected.) It was pretty dense! And not overly cinnamon-y. I really enjoyed it. I'd say it was worth $6 when I think about the price I pay for pastries I like as much or more at places like Cafe Gratitude and Erin McKenna's. Didn't purchase anything else but lots of gluten-free, vegan desserts that caught my eye. A great spot to go for the health-conscious or friend with various allergies (things were well-labeled with allergens.) You can definitely find free street parking nearby. read more

Overpriced Whole Foods with even lesser quality. I am amazed by the audacity that this place has to charge close to $20 for a stale bagel and cream cheese they couldn't even bother spreading themselves. Major disappointment and let down. If their quality increases, they may finally match their price point, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. read more

I've for the most part have always had a positive experience at Erewhon until today. I purchase Erewhon's glass bottle spring waters in bulk due to the fact that they've always recycled them for me honoring CRV. Today when I went in for what I'm sure has now been my 20th visit to this location, one of the cashiers immediately told me they do not take spring water bottles back. After sharing with her I've been recycling them for months with Erewhon she questioned when the last time I came in store was with a condescending tone. I immediately asked for the manager who was ringing customers next to her. He also claimed they did not take them back which I again shared I had been purchasing them and recycling them countless times with this exact location. In front of me, the initial cashier stated with a condescending tone "what are they like 5 cents each?" It was extremely infuriating to have a cashier mock me as if I was desperate for change. The manager ended up recycling the bottles for me I'm sure after realizing that they both were in fact wrong. As a member who has spent a few thousands at Erewhon within just the past 9 months, to be treated like someone desperate for money when I simply wanted to return bottles was wild to me. Erewhon, please train your cashiers properly. I have never had an experience like this here and hope I never will again in the future. read more

I don't like to leave bad reviews- you can look at my review history. However, my partner went here to get fresh mozzarella for my birthday. The fresh mozzarella had a giant spot of fuzzy blue mold on it. I have never had that experience buying cheese at another grocer. Perhaps it would have been refunded, but we didn't have the receipt and I didn't want to make a separate trip back there. The store is very beautiful and the made-to-order food looks good, but I would choose one of the other many grocery stores in the area for regular shopping; this is more like a fancy cafeteria with some groceries. They do have a LOT of vegan, GF, paleo, etc. options, if you have dietary restrictions and money. read more

Been a loyal customer for years. Not happy with how they scam you with the combos. You pay X amount per pound for the meat but as soon as they throw on the sides it more than triples. I had asked for 2 slider burgers which originally was $17 and some change; I then asked to make it a combo instead; got Mac n cheese and yams on the side and all of a sudden it became $50 something...seriously ? The weight from the sides is being charged as whatever price per pound of the protein. Erewhon needs a better metric system of tracking this. It's just not right.. read more

I really like Erewhon and the other locations are terrific but the new Culver City location needs some work. It's a smaller store with less selection and customer service was slow and lacking. Review is mostly for that service. I tried to order a breakfast burrito made to order and was rebuffed. When you're paying this much for a burrito you'd expect better customer service. I hate this Erewhon! I've gone to almost all of them and this is the worst. They have a very limited hot bar and cold food selection. But the real problem is their parking. There is no sign anywhere saying that you need to validate parking with them. So I had to go back to my car to get the ticket. One hour is plenty of time but not if everything is an issue in the store. I had to wait several minutes for them to restock the toilet paper in the restroom. And then the line for the hot bar took forever. Parking is terrible and the food selection is awful. Horrible! read more

So grateful we have this little market in Culver City ! I took my husband and it was especially interesting to him-- because down to the Joshua Tree Coffee to the siete almond flour tortillas to the almond malk to the dried pink and orange flowers and ranunculus flowers -- my husband thought I was secretly operating as a buyer for this store behind his back. The workers at the smoothie bar are EXTREMELY racist. The first time I went some girl named Destiny took my order and gave my order a name that was no where close to the name I gave her. I stood there for a while waiting for my name to be called and she was literally just side eyeing me like she could've been more professional.
