Needed two locks installed and one re-keyed. Called in and was given a same-day appointment. Spoke with Michael and he was quick to arrive, installed everything, and made sure the locks and electronic deadbolt were functioning 100%. Our original deadbolt was difficult to turn when locking/unlocking and Michael even took extra time to hollow out the dead bolt hole and everything is perfectly smooth now. Fail. This place is a joke. Yesterday I made an appointment to have a locksmith here today at 2pm. I called at 2:10pm when nobody arrived. I was told he messed up and someone could come at 3pm but he'd try to get someone here sooner and he'd call me back in 15 minutes. It's 35 minutes later and no call. This is not a good way to do business and I'm glad I found out before getting this simple work done rather than hiring them to do the next job (a very complicated install) and encountering this. So one of my co-workers couldn't get into her office door...the key would go most of the way, but I couldn't turn the key. Got locked out of my apt on a Sunday afternoon and luckily I had my blackberry with me. Google'd culver city locksmith's and found that Eric's Locksmith could not only get to me in 15 minutes, but also had the best rates. The best part was that all of it was true... Their "15 minutes" was really 15 minutes, 17 minutes tops. None of that 15 minutes really means 45 minutes. I was really expecting to spend my Sunday afternoon waiting around, but Eric's is definitely not your "usual" service... not only do they provide real service ON TIME, but the locksmith was SO nice! After a couple minutes of tinkering around with the lock, he went back to his van, and minutes later came back with a spare key! I have no clue how he did it, but I am still amazed! How did he DO that?! The rates were just as mentioned, he stayed honest to his quote (unlike the doubling or tripling of costs when other shady-mechanic-like locksmiths who come and "discover" that the scenario requires a drill - and yes, I lock myself out a lot :( and no, I still haven't learned.) Bottom Line: AMAZING, WONDERFUL service. CALL THEM! Best price, best time! I GUARANTEE it. I've never had a "locksmith incident" go well, ever, until calling Eric's Locksmith. They answered the phone quickly, Eric the owner answered and he was attentive and sharp. He said he would get back to me in 5 minutes after he got more details on how to handle my Lexus (harder to open because of specialty locks). He called me back in TWO minutes! He gave me a very reasonable price quote (90 dollars, which he even apologized for being so "high", though every other shop I called quoted me at 95-165!) and gave me the "Yelp" discount which knocked it down to 80 dollars. The owner told me he would have someone to me as soon as possible, no longer than 30 minutes. The technician called me himself about two minutes later. He told me he would be there in 15, and his estimate was accurate (ALWAYS a lovely surprise!) He had to try two different methods to get my car door open, because Lexus has the lock system of hell. He kept apologizing for not being "speedy," but he had the whole thing done in 10 minutes! He was WONDERFUL. Best of all? He was KIND and HAPPY. Anyone who has locked their keys in the car, at a really inopportune time, can understand how stressed, angry, and upset you get. TO have someone show up with a big smile and friendly service, who made lovely small talk while working on my car.... it really took the edge off. My technician's name was Mike. He was such a pleasure to work with. Best of all, when the car was unlocked, he had my credit card run within the minute so I could get HOME after that ordeal! He smiled and shook my hand, apologized again for not being even FASTER than he was, and we headed our separate ways. I cannot recommend these folks enough. Sorry to burst the five-star bubble here, but these guys were TERRIBLE! Called them last Saturday to have a combination safe opened. They said they would call me back on Monday. So Monday came and no call. Then Tuesday, Wednesday and Thrusday. No call. So finally called them Thursday night to find out what the hell was going on only to get the response that "someone would call me Friday." So Friday came and guess what. Yup, no call. So here I am a week later with a safe that still needs to be opened and not one phone call from these guys. I locked my car key inside the car. Called Eric and he was here in one hour. It took only a couple minutes to get the door open. He did a good job and was very friendly. The only problem was getting the key dup. It took awhile cause the dup key got stuck in the ignition. He used some tools to remove the key and it left some scratches near the keyhole area so I'm disappointed about that. Price was $75 for unlocking the car and $10 for duplicate key. read more
