This is a home town restaurant with good food and friendly service. The office is a small place that is always busy. Most times you have to wait a few minutes for your table. I think this is a testament to its popularity. The menu is sophisticated for Canandaigua which has many average burger joints. The menu changes which is nice too. I get tired of the same old things so its nice to see the kitchen change things up. The decor is made of old store signs from Canandaigua. Barber shops, restaurants hotels, etc. Interesting but not terribly inspired. I keep going because the food is good and the staff is very friendly. read more

Catering There are plenty of reviews for the restaurant, and it is very good. We used them recently to cater an event for our business. We are personal trainers hosting a health conference and we used them to cater lunch. We had a very unique challenge for them. It was nothing that was normally on the menu. We wanted to teach people about volume of food with this lunch so everything had to be weighed and measured and there were plenty of unique ingredients. It went flawlessly. They set-up coffee, tea, and fruit and veggie trays for people throughout the day and served an awesome lunch. The price was very nice! Especially for all the hoops we had them jump through! And people loved the low calorie, huge portion, tasty food! Thanks everyone at the office who had a hand in it. read more

Several people we know mentioned that the food is inconsistent but today we definitely experienced that. Not sure if there is a new cook, but our meals were extremely bland and lacked flavor and made me sick. We have had these two same meals in the past, and it was good the first time, which is why we came back. But we will never eat there again because of today. This time the waiter asked if I wanted hot pepper flakes. He must have known the food was tasteless. I didn't eat my food after a few bites and the waiter just asked if I wanted it boxed up. I shook my head no and my husband said yes, to be polite. But the leftovers are going in the garbage. It was that bad. On a positive, the salad was good. read more

Eric's Office is a quaint restaurant and has a staff that will personalize your experience. The menu items were diverse and had a several items to choose from. I ordered the Caesar Salad that came with the entree. It was plentiful with delicious homemade croutons. Coach ordered the Seafood Bisque which was rich and one of the best bisque' s he has tried! I ordered the salmon with the rice pilaf with spinach and broccoli. I loved it! The salmon was meaty and cooked to perfection! Coach ordered the Caesar Salad with fried shrimp and it also came with 2 slices of toasted Italian bread. The salad was a large portion and very tasteful! Eric's Office was an absolute delight. My wife, Mother-in-Law and I have been twice in a week. Our first visit was during the Friday fish fry and the place was packed before 5pm but the hostess could see our dismay about the hour wait and squeezed us in when a party wanted to sit at the bar a little longer. The food was sublime: the best French onion soup I have ever had, a prime rib that was absolutely perfect. Excellent fresh salads, good beer selection. Had dinner a while back and was impressed. They've got a real restaurant here, I thought. Then we went back of lunch. Wife's Cobb salad had no bacon or avocado. And why, for the love god, would a restaurant serve those crappy, low end tomatoes. Vine ripened tomatoes are available year round now. My burger was okay . I had one of the best dinners I've ever had Monday night at Eric's Office. It was my first time there for dinner and sitting inside. The indoor atmosphere was lovely. I liked how small and intimate the setting was but can see why there is such a wait on the weekends. Before dinner we were served a basket of warm rolls with butter. The chicken and rigatoni dish I had was perfect. The cream sauce was absolutely to die for. My cousin ordered the scallop and shrimp pasta in clam sauce and was also extremely pleased. Both dishes came with a salad before the entree - everything was fresh. We also ordered the chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert and it was the perfect amount to share after a big meal. I took my mother to a late lunch here right before the dinner rush a few days ago, and I couldn't believe how great everything was. Neither of us had been here before. My chicken noodle soup and my mother's french onion soup was super fresh and tasty. Our server, Kurt, was very friendly, genuine, and seemed knowledgeable about the menu. Always had a REAL smile on his face (which, as a server myself, was very much appreciated). We never had to ask for anything because Kurt was always prepared and/or was being attentive enough to know what we needed before we asked for it. Great indicator of an excellent server. The decor is fun especially with all of the antique signs hanging on the walls. On to our meals, we split the BLT chicken sandwich which was cooked perfectly and tasted absolutely delicious. And the prices are very fair and reasonable. (French fries were awesome by the way!) The 5 stars for this restaurant was well earned and deserved. Wish this place was in Rochester. My wife and I drive here on occasion to get our fix. They have typical bar food , which is good, but also have items like crab cakes and artichoke French as apps. Both really good, as is the French onion soup. They also have a specials menu, which is where we usually order entrees from and where the restaurant shines. Service is always attentive and friendly, the latter of which seems typical of Canandaigua which is refreshing. Attire is casual. read more

We loved it! Very charming with outstanding quality food. We were pleasantly surprised at the outstanding customer service. It is a small dining room so be sure to make reservations on busy times to ensure you don't wait long. Prices are very reasonable and they do offer a cork fee if you want to bring your own wine. 2nd time we've been there. 1st time was really good. It prompted the return. This time? The third visit is now in question. Naked Dove Starker IPA, where's the hops???? After taste was awful. Couldn't finish it. I got the Kobe beef burger that was a special of the evening. Bland. Not very warm. Broccoli salad was ok. My friend got the talapi wrap. Beyond bland. 'Kind of a bad day at the Office' Went for dinner on a Monday night with my usual dining companion. Between us we shared the white bean soup, French onion soup, chocolate coffee tenderloin, and artichokes French appetizer. I'm going to cover the ups and downs of this experience and there were both. Service: Our waitress was very concerned about what we were drinking ie what alcohol we were ordering. However, her interest in our service waned after that. I love being nagged about my drink order, then ignored once the food is dropped. Nagging notwithstanding, the wine selection by the glass was really pretty good for a short list. I had a nice Shiraz and my partner had an unoaked Chardonnay. If you're a beer lover, you'll find that selection to be minimal. I know the place is a little raucous, but our waitress seemed to have no concept of the INDOOR VOICE, for goodness sakes. At one point, she came up behind me and fairly bellowed that the meals were here, scaring me and I don't startle easily. Nothing like a little adrenaline flowing to stimulate the appetite, I guess. Also, when someone who I've clearly identified as the bringer of our food arrives holding said food, no announcement nor further explanation is needed. Really. I also had a problem with the temperature of the bean soup that bridges both food and service sectors. I admit I have an issue with food safety when I'm eating out and where I usually find fault is in food served at an insufficiently warm temperature, in this case the soup. If food safety isn't a big concern for you, I suppose you could characterize my critique as petty. When I shared my concerns with the dude passing out menus; I guess, by some stretch of the imagination you could call him the host, he wasn't too concerned. When I reminded him of the health department standard temperature for holding soup, he said he'd turn up the heat. How about taking it off my bill? How about a replacement heated to 140 degrees or even more? How about an apology? Enjoy your $4.75 for thin, tasteless, lukewarm soup. Diner service at its best: "you have two dining choices: take it or leave it." Great. Food: My soup was as described, but my companion's French onion was much better. Properly heated and tasty. We ordered artichokes French and the tenderloin rubbed with cocoa and coffee for appetizers as our main course. The artichokes were also delicious, plentiful, and yes, piping hot. The tenderloin was a somewhat different story. They've changed their preparation of this signature dish, and not for the better. Where previously they delivered a single petit filet mignon dusted with chocolate and coffee, which was pretty amazing, now they deliver 4 thin slices which (it's that heat thing again) went lukewarm fairly quickly. The waitress asked me the temperature I wanted the meat cooked. I said medium rare, but it was overcooked. In all fairness, it was sliced so thinly that you couldn't reasonably expect any control over the temperature. Why ask for a temperature as if you were delivering an actual steak, as opposed to some glorified strips of London broil? This is not a complaint about portion size, I knew it was an appetizer. It's a complaint about pretensions; asking for a temperature choice for a dish for which the preparation renders the question moot. Also one of the four slices was gristly, which is highly unusual for a 'tenderloin' cut, in fact in 30+ years of dining and cooking I can't remember ever eating a gristly piece of tenderloin. Even so, it was beautifully and artfully seasoned by someone who knew what she was doing; you could taste the melding of cocoa and coffee and the brown gravy was also delicious. Too bad I had to eat quickly or risk another run-in with the lovely host about food warmth. In summary, I guess that's an overall reflection on this restaurant. It's pretty good bar food as such, with some aspirations to higher culinary standards, aspirations which sometimes fall short of the mark, in food as well as in service. I suppose I should lower my standards to what this restaurant is capable of producing, rather than what some of its menu items and pricing aspire to. read more

This place stinks unless you live next door and don't want to drink alone. The sign advertises Tap Room & Dinning Area but the taproom is more like the waiting room/ coat check area. Take your breath mints because you'll behaving some close face to face contact whether you want it or not. In fairness it was a Fri. fish fry night and the place was busy. I ordered the crab cakes and did manage to snag a draft of the local Canandaigua brew. I was glad to see it offered and I told myself that things were looking up. After almost no wait, the waitress behind the bar placed down a large wood board to support my dish/napkin and refilled my beer. Two un-toasted very white buns, garnished with a single thin slice of tomato, and a sad looking piece of lettuce-leaf brown around the edges, all neatly framed an almost round ball of dark crusted grease. All this shared the plate with an equally dark batch of fries that leaked puddles around my coleslaw cup. Maybe it's because I sample lots of crab cakes down south, but these things bring to mind all your worst connotations to the word "crab". If you're a greasy spoon-I can-digest-just-about-anything type, you'll love this place. Half way through, I paused for a long moment, took a breath and thanked Goddog for the cold Canandaigua beer because the food was a 1 star at best! read more

ALWAYS packed for lunch. I need to check it out for dinner too. Hidden from the summer crowds of Canandaigua, Eric's Office is too good to ignore when you're around these parts. Best part for me is that their salads are delicious and very generous in portion size. Looking for a healthy lunch? The house salad with chicken and dressing on the side is pretty much the perfect version of just that. The bread served with all the salads is DELICIOUS. The hot wraps like the Cajun chicken or turkey club are also great; pretty good value as well when you look at the portion. If you're ordered takeaway at lunchtime, get your order in early -- often times you need to given them 30-60 minutes advance notice. They're busy, and for good reason! read more

I went here with the rest of the family on a Monday night. We called ahead and still had to wait about ten minutes for a table. Our waitress was terrible. She was slow to refill our drinks, usually not bothering until one of us asked. The food was also incredibly slow--it took almost an hour for it to come out. And unlike most restaurants, which care if you have an unpleasant wait, no one apologized for the wait! They were busy when we arrived, but by the time the food came there were several empty tables. The food was decent, but not incredible. All in all, it was an unpleasant experience and I won't be coming back. read more

I don't give out five star ratings very often. I thought for a long time about it, and when it came right down to it, Eric's Office had earned those five stars. We weren't even in the door, before we were greeted by one of the staff on the outdoor patio dining space. Inside, you walk into a small dining and bar area, that is warm and friendly. We sat at the bar and had two really well made cocktails. This is where you start finding that Eric's is a cut above. The cocktails were perfectly prepared, and quite generous. After our drinks, and an appetizer of Deep Fried Onion Rings that were delicious, we moved to the dining room in the rear of the place. It was a welcoming area, with plenty of staff to meet the needs of the diners. A word here about the staff. The entire staff was a team that all worked together. If there were table assignments, I couldn't tell, because we were attended to by everyone that worked in the dining room. I have NEVER seen such great teamwork. Once again, the food portions were pretty generous. I rarely ever bring food home, but the Chicken Fingers and Fries were so big, that I had to leave with some to enjoy at home later. My wife had a seafood dish that she said was delicious. I was pretty full, but my wife ordered a Creme Brulee and I tried a bit of that. It was incredible! Eric's is one of the few places that is able to cater to just about anyone's taste. It's a very casual place, with a neighborhood bar feel. But the menu has some finer dining dishes that are done very well. The prices are in line with the value of the food and drinks. I don't know if the staff was trained or if they just work that well together, but they were all friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. This may have been our first visit to Eric's Office, but I know it won't be our last. The Finger Lakes area is a nice place to visit and we now have another reason to go and enjoy some food. read more

The family stopped by Eric's Office Restaurant for dinner on a Monday night, and we were seated immediately. The dining room was attractively decorated in a chic black-and-gray color scheme, with rustic antique signage from local businesses, and old-timey vinyl "newspaper" print tablecloths. Service was speedy and friendly, without being rushed. My husband ordered a custom crispy chicken sandwich, my son ordered chicken tenders, and I had one of the pricier specials of the day -- mussels and shrimp in a tomato broth, served over linguine with garlic crostini. Each of us was thoroughly satisfied with our meal. My pasta dish had a more generous amount of seafood than I expected -- four very large shrimp and at least 2 dozen mussels, all cooked to perfection, and the tomato broth was rich and well-seasoned. (I would have appreciated it if the shrimp tails had been removed in the kitchen, since taking them off after the shrimp were submerged in broth was a messy and unhygienic business.) My son's chicken tenders were an inexpensive appetizer menu item, but arrived in such quantity that he was unable to finish them. We look forward to stopping back again. read more

I would give The Office a 5 star except for 1 annoying thing. We were waiting for 20 minuets which is fine. This place does amazing lunches and delivers to your work. The burgers are amazing, their Mac n cheese is like grandma used to make, wraps are phenomenal... and their specials are always good. I work in Canandaigua at the ED and we typically order out frequently and there isn't many options to choose from, or we have ordered at the same places to many times. I ordered the first time the chicken ceaser salad and not only was it a huge portion but it was made exactly like it should be! It was soooo good! We also ordered the cheesey bread and that was just as good. My friend ordered the cranberry salad and really good to! This place does not disappoint! Go there and try it out! read more

I recently was in Canandaigua for a family event, and we needed a place for 9 people to have dinner on a Friday night. We had called and had reservations at seven. When we got there, the bar was wall-to-wall people, and our table would not be ready until the previous occupants had finished their dinner. The wait was long. Once seated, our server was very attentive, and took our drink and dinner orders promptly. People's choices ranged the gamut from a Gorgonzola steak salad to the Friday night fish fry. Their beers are on tap from a local microbrewery and they were very good. The dining room is small and the noise level is high, so if you want a place for conversation or a romantic dinner, this is not the place. However, the menu selection is varied with something for everyone, and the prices are fair. I will go back on a weeknight! read more

I really wanted to like this place but I just had an unfortunate enounter with an employee that may keep me from going back. I work at a local corporation and we have had Eric's deliver before, and the food is pretty decent. I really liked the buffalo chicken salad so I decided to do takeout on my own today. I walked in for the first time ever and stood inside the entrance for quite some time waiting for a hostess who never came, so I decided to reach out to the bartender since the bar was right there. He asked if I was there for a pickup and I said yes, he handed me my food, I paid, all was well. When I got out to my car I checked the bag for silverware since I didn't feel any inside and when I opened the bag I realized there was no dressing on the salad or on the side. So, I headed back in and asked the same bartender if I could have some dressing and silverware. He says, "oh, there's no dressing in there?", and I said no. He goes back in the kitchen, comes back out and says," Just so you know, there is dressing on the salad" and I said I was used to it coming on the side, and that the salad looked pretty dry, and offered to show it to him. Without looking at the salad he just responded with, "yeah, there's dressing on it, but would you like some on the side?". So, instead of taking the low road as he did and argue my point by showing him the undressed salad, I just decided to say, sure, I'll take a side. There was absolutely no dressing on that salad, not a drop, but that's not what bothered me. What bothered me was the fact that this bartenter found it necessary to argue with me in front of a bar of people to prove me wrong when he wasn't even right! He could have just been professional and said, "sorry for that, let me get you some dressing", when I told him there was none. I worked as a server for many years so maybe I'm just sensitive to this, but I would think it would be a turn off to anyone that had this encounter. Bad move, Mr. Bartender. Rude service will kill a business every time, so I can only hope that the manager/owner will read this and take note. As for me, I don't think I'll be heading back. First, this place is known by the locals as "The Office" and I think that's super clever and fun. For example, "Wanna grab lunch at The Office?" Second, with that said, this place is definitely a favorite by the locals and is packed during lunch and dinner. They change their specials daily and consistently produce good bar-type food... think burgers, hot sandwiches, and delicious crispy fries. However, they also serve heavier meals (pastas and steaks) but in my opinion, with less success. Stick with a sandwich (like the teriyaki chicken) and fries and you'll be satisfied. read more

Went to Eric's Office on a Thursday night. We were seated right away, which was great. The service was great. I had the steak Gorgonzola salad which was just ok. The steak itself was cooked perfectly but the lettuce was mainly iceberg. For the price I would have expected more greens. In fact, I would have paid extra for it had I known it would have come filled with iceberg lettuce. My friend had a fried chicken sandwich with fries which she really liked and said was quite good. Other food that we saw going to other tables looked and smelled very good. I would definitely go back to try one of their more substantial dishes. read more

I'd give this a 0 star review if I could. Went on a Monday night and it was packed. No big deal as we had a reservation. Had a party of 4 and pretty much all were none too impressed. Two of us got the strip steak, one got the cowboy steak the other got chicken French. All dishes were bland. Strip steak was weird. Not terribly over cooked but very dry. Not very good at all. Very disappointed. The service was great. That alone deserves a 5 star review. Maybe the bar food is a better option? read more

I called to make reservations for this past Saturday evening and was a bit dubious about how this would turn out after my conversation. I had read the great reviews on Yelp and it's near some family so I wanted to give it a try. I asked about making reservations and they said they took them and took the information but then told me that they couldn't guarantee we would be seated at that time because they were a small restsurant. However, we arrived a bit early and waited only a few minutes in the large bar area. The restaurant itself is indeed fairly small with the tables being quite close together and its a bit noisy, however we had a back booth and were quite comfortable. The restaurant is decorated with old memorabilia, some local and this adds a nice touch and interest. Our server came over promptly and took drink orders, almost too quick as some in our party didn't have time to really look at the local beer selection. Drinks arrived quickly and our order was taken. We opted for hamburgs and I got the pulled pork special. All come with fries or other options including sweet potato fries, mashed or baked. Dinner arrived very quickly. Large portions, hot and tasty. My pulled pork plate was enormous and enough for 2 meals. The pork was tender, tangy and even a touch of heat. The sandwich had coleslaw and small fried onion rings on it. It was near perfection! Positive reports on the hamburger as well- their plates were cleaned. Water refilled without asking, check delivered and picked up promptly. Wait staff very pleasant. My only complaint, and it may not be applicable but just efficient wait staff, is that I almost felt rushed with the efficiency like they were trying to turn the table. The place is well known and you might want to get reservations as it can get full quick around dinner time. But it is well worth the wait to get a table to eat.
