I've updated my rating since I had resolution of a problem with the help of a great regional manager from Erik's. 1/6/2026 original - We bought new ~$500 K2 ski boots from Erik's in November. These were for my son who is a ski-fanatic. We had the boots custom fit to his new ski's and he was super excited to use them this year. These were paid for primarily by my son and partially his birthday present. My son went skiing two consecutive days when the season just started for just a few hours and on the second day a small buckle broke. This is a buckle that is held in by a screw that should be easily swapped or in stock. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We brought the boots to Erik's service group December 14th and have had zero activity from Erik's while they "attempt" to get a response from K2. They keep telling me to "just call back every few days" which I have been doing which has gotten ridiculous.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] These boots were around $500 and only worn twice!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Talk about having zero customer service and zero urgency whatsoever while the ski-season just passes us bye.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've asked over and over for an update and told flippantly, I expect to hear back...but nope, nothing yet." Again and again and again. The responsibility is somehow all mine to call back every day for an update and not on them them to push for a response. I've asked for replacement boots under warranty and told that they are the mercy of K2 for what should be a $10 part AND for a response. "NOT THEIR FAULT OR RESPONSIBILITY TO PUSH K2." Crazy frustrating. They obviously do not value their customers with this casual non-response. Bottom line - I regret buying from them and wish I would have gone to King Keyser or just about any other outfitter. Avoid!! They have lost my business forever. PS - I have never, ever written a negative review about any business until now. 1/7/2026 update -I did email the address that Erik mentioned below and to this point received no response. I also called back again today and spoke with Cameron, who has consistently been the front line service/warranty representative. Once again, Cameron from Erik's confirmed that they would not be doing anything other than waiting for K2's warranty department to respond. They would absolutely NOT be crediting me for the boots or replacing the boots while they work out the replacement with K2. This would have allowed us to get back on the slopes immediately while they work it out with K2. They again confirmed that they have no idea when K2 would respond. It could be days, weeks or as long as the ENTIRE SEASON! Erik's is powerless and "that is the reality of it!" Cameron actually patronized me for having the persistence to call in so frequently for updates. "We have lots of customers waiting on warranty responses but ONLY YOU call in to try to speed up this process and BERATE US." WOW - shame on me for trying to help get my son his boots. I asked him to define berating him. I never called him a name, never insulted him. Cameron defined berating him as persistently calling and asking for action. Cameron mocked me for writing the reviews. "Yes, we received your review, saw it, and made the decision that we would NOT be doing anything different than just waiting for K2 for as long as it takes. Go ahead and keep writing your reviews." As a father who is trying to keep this moving, am I at fault for following up frequently over a $10 buckle on brand new $500 boots? What would you do as the season passes us bye? [[HIGHLIGHT]]I then asked Cameron for K2's case number so I could call them directly. I was told there was no case number by Cameron[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My wife and I called K2 since Cameron was clearly not going to take action. Of course...K2 said "what is the case number?." Ha! It turns out K2 does answer the phone and does respond. We had a really sweet person from K2's dealer service rep, Elevate outdoor collective, who helped and said she'd get this part tracked down quickly and give us an answer. 1/8/2026 update [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have resolution with my issue! The sweet dealer service agent from K2, Robin, was able to get this moving immediately. Robin called Alex, the regional manager from Erik's to collaborate and bypass Cameron[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. K2 said that they would be sending the part immediately and copied me and Alex. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Alex called me to apologize and to take control of the situation. He had parts to use and would personally be working to get this done THE SAME DAY! Alex hand delivered me the repaired boots in the afternoon, just about 3 hours after Cameron and I spoke[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and I was told by Cameron just sit and wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Alex was generally a great guy who understood customer service. You see...I'm a business owner and I employ a service and parts team myself. We pride ourselves on customer service. Alex had the traits that we always look for: accountability, empathy, passion, ingenuity and the ability to communicate[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Wow - what a difference. I had the polar opposite experience from the 2 times I've come into this shop. My 1st experience was to drop off my bike for a tuneup. It was a rainy day so perhaps all the guys working were bored because I was the only customer there. They were helpful and friendly! I was a little turned off that they don't have an all-in-one tuneup pricing (like my former bike shop in the city). Everything here is a la carte. My bike just needed some love from sitting in the garage all winter so my tuneup was $40. Sweet! The guys also sold me on a "bike cleaning"- "we'll oil her chain and clean it all up". I also purchased a phone holder and they offered to put it in my bike for me with the tuneup. Awesome! 5 stars!! When I returned, my bike was maybe wiped down with a cloth, but I'm not paying $20 when the grips and everything on the handlebars was still grimey from my garage. I'm turned off by the corporate ALL CAPS BIG RED signs everywhere regarding policy. Ick! The manager here seemed like he's never ridden a bike before, but he's the manager so he's "high and mighty". I didn't like that feeling. He generously removed the "bike cleaning" as well as the "assembly fee for my cell phone holder". I responded thank you and also I wasn't told I would be charged for the cell holder to be put on. His response was "well ok then". I think I'll stick to my city bike guys who sure also cool and friendly and bike-savvy. This place seemed tightly run by corporate people. No thank you. I'll stick to local... even if I had be to drive back to the city! read more

Anyway, I came back here and had them do a repair.Dropped off on Saturday and everything done on Monday. How about that? Don't let the negative reviews deter you from shopping at this location! After much research online locally from Texas on a very specific bike I've been looking for in my size (the Cervelo Aspero 5), I found my dream bike at Erik's. The good news was that it was on sale, but the bad news was that it was all the way in Illinois! I was in a rush to buy this bike so I decided to drive to this store to pick it up in person with my fiancé. Chad, the assistant manager, and also the sales person who helped me over the phone, was on point with sending pictures and giving me details and answers to my questions. I haven't experienced this level of excellent customer service in a very long time - I was very impressed, especially considering I was an out of state buyer. I was hesitant to try a new bike shop even though I live in Oak Brook. What a pleasure it was to be so well taken care of by such a great staff. Keith in service was kind, professional and made the repair to my satisfaction and beyond. The store is clean with a terrific selection of merchandise. Service was fast abs I'm back in the road ! Thanks so much Erik's you have a loyal, local customer. I recommend checking the hours before you go for all businesses that are at all seasonal. Buyer Beware!!! After researching which bike I was interested, I went to Erik's where one was in stock. Mark F was my salesperson who told me that he over ordered and had the one I wanted ready to go from his mistake of over-ordering. After test riding, I noticed a small tin sound from the motor and tires that looked worn. He assured me that it was in perfect "new" condition and service would do their point test before I walked out with it today. After handing him almost 2K for the Aventon Pace 500, he told me that I would have to return the next day, "first thing in the morning" so it could be ready. I called the next day at noon after not hearing from them and was told by Mark F my bike wasn't ready and they weren't sure when it would be, maybe the end of the day, maybe not since they had a lot of bikes in front of mine. After talking to service they informed me that it needed repairs, I asked what the problem was since it was "new" which they wouldn't give me an answer and disconnected me. When I called back another service man spoke to me and when I asked him if this bike was badly damaged/returned and if I should get a refund, he said he was told that he could not tell me anything per his supervisor but agreed when I asked if I should get my refund on this bike. I was transferred to Mark F for my refund but he told me that I had to drive back to the store for my refund and he wouldn't do it over the phone. I drove back and he refunded my total (he could have done that me without me being there) and then laughed and told me that he was going to call the next person on the list to sell the bike. Customer service is THE WORST! Mark never spent more than 5 minutes with me, couldn't answer my questions about the bike, and lied about all of the details - I should have known at that point and never proceeded with the purchase. Worst of all he is going to sell a bike that is a lemon with obvious motor damage to another person to get his commission instead of sending it back to the manufacturer. Horrible experience and am happy to bring my business to another business. read more

Terrible experience after buying a bike for my son's birthday. The sales people were great but the bike mechanic made us wait and give us complete attitude for an hour to put on a kick stand. The bike that we had just paid for was set up on holding stand and as 5 other people came in he kept checking in and helping those while we sat and waited for an hour. All we needed was the kickstand to be put on for the bike we had already paid for. With plenty of other options to purchase bikes in the area...we will not be coming back. Really wanted to give this store the business given the selection but the experience is not worth it. read more

Erik's, I'd say, is like a high-end Dick's sporting goods store with divided attention on bicycles, skateboards and skis. Customer service was uninformed on bikes and I've have had more pleasant experiences at actual bike shops in the area. They have lots more inventory than your local bike shop (great) but didn't have the staff to support it. Sorry guys. read more

Visited the store and was shown a bike, however I wanted the bike in a different color. Was told That they get inventory on Thursdays and to come back in and check on Thursday to see if the Bike would come in in the color I wanted. So five days later I came back and the bike was not there, I was then told that I could order the bike for an additional $99 fee. So I agreed paid the fee for the bike plus a delivery fee. A week later I got a text, not a phone call stating the bike had arrived. The following day I called the store to tell them I would be coming in that day to pick up the bike, I asked them to have it ready as I only had a leeway of an hour. A few hours later I arrived and the bike was not ready. I waited about 20 minutes for them to bring the bike out, the bike had been used as a floor demo model, I was under the impression I was getting a new bike. I didn't noticed that the bike did not match the bike I was shown. We then discovered that the bike was not a brand new 2022 that I was expecting, it was a 2021 that had been used as a demo for customers to test ride. I was not offered a discount for the waste of time and the bad experience. I was simply told I could order another bike. Very horrible customer service and a complete waste of my time. Took them another additional 20 minutes to issue my return and refund. read more

I was seriously disappointed with the customer service. Mark did not listen to me at all. Four or five times during our conversation I told him I was interested in additional information on the Aventon Pace 500 New Generation. He kept trying to sell me the 350 and giving me info on the 350. Towards the end of our conversation I said to him "what can you tell me about the advantageous of my purchasing the 500 from Erik's versus some other Aventon dealer". He said, well where're a full service operation and if you get a flat, we would repair it here. I said yea, but I can get full service at other dealers, and the 500 has puncture proof tires. He said, no they don't. We get a lot of tires repairs here for the 350s. I said dude, I'm out. AGAIN, I'm only interested in the 400. Look at Aventon's website, it says the 500 has puncture proof tires. Geez!! So frustrating!!! The only reason I'm giving this place a two is because I think any other service re may have been a totally different experience. Mark, you may want emphasize the fact that Erik's also does trade ins. That's an awesome perk that other places don't offer. Sorry - I will not be purchasing from Erik's. At least not the one in Oak Brook. I may try another Erik shop. We'll see. read more
