Second order in a row that they have ruined takeout/delivery. They use Door Dash but when there is a problem, such as today when the deliverer left out a sandwich that I was charged for, Door Dash can't help if they wanted to because it's on a different system. The deli refuses to take responsibility. Second time. Avoid delivery until they fix it unless you really trust that it will be done right. For me, they messed up the past two times. I also question why they don't have a manager on site on a holiday who could help. read more

This casual establishment has plenty of seating inside. They offer both canned sodas as well as fountain drinks. I ordered five sandwiches and two cans of Sprite. The sandwich that I had was the Farmers Market. First of all let me tell you, it was delicious! I would definitely have that sandwich again. My only gripe was that my bread was flat as a piece of paper. Two kids were being trained that day and one of the kids kept pressing down on the sandwich to try had get the ingredients to stay inside, thus flat and smashed bread. I over looked it because I understand the pressure of being the new kid. Hopefully the next time my bread will be a little more springy. read more

This used to be one of the best soup/salad/sandwich places in the County. Very sad that they have gone totally downhill. Food is not as good nor fresh - sometimes sickening. (I hope the Health Department catches up with them soon.) Worst of all, the way they treat and CHEAT their customers is really bad. For example - Hubby and I order the usual half sandwich and soup. Told the cashier (Jlina) what soup and sandwich we wanted. She reads back a Dub Club and I told her not - half a sea dog no club. She said a sea dog. I said "yes, half a sea dog and bowl of jambalaya." Then she says "half Dub Club and Jambalaya." Again, I corrected her "no - half sea dog and jambalaya." She said, "OK sea dog not dub club." I said "yes, but half sea dog." Then our receipt showed a full sea dog sandwich plus half a dub club with jambalaya, plus my hubby's reuben and jambalaya. So I said, we did not order dub club, and I already told you half a sea dog and jambalaya. She says, "I told you dub club and you confirmed." I said - "No, I corrected you at least 3 times that my order is half a sea dog, neither my Hubby or I ordered a dub club." Then she insist that she said dub club and I confirmed the dub club. I said no - "you kept saying dub club and I kept saying sea dog." Then she said, "so you got both dub club and sea dog, so what is your problem?" So I said, "The problem is you - you made a mistake and do not correct it even if I told you that we do not want a dub club, and I just wanted half a sea dog and jambalaya." I said again - "I ordered half a sea dog and jambalaya. I told you each time you said dub club that we do not want a dub club." She tried talking over me insisting that I orderd a dub club. Both my husband and I reminded her that we did not order a dub club even if she kept insisting on it. That we paid only because she said OK when we last corrected her that we did not want dub club and it was half a sea dog and jambalaya was my order. I told her "Stop arguing with your customer. Stop blaming your customer for your mistake - when you have 2 customers correcting you and you still continued with your error and now you made us pay for your mistake!" Then she says she will refund the money that we paid for the full sandwich. But there is a long line now and she will refund after she finishes taking the orders of everyone in line. So we wait. And wait. I cannot eat not just because I was pissed off -- the half sea dog they gave me was made of tuna gel - not tuna chunks! It was some fishy gel that looked phlegm. Yuck! I am losing my appetite just thinking about it. And we wait. And wait. Finally, no one is in line, so we try to get our refund. Now a second server comes and Jlina and that server (the one with fake eyelashes that go all the way up to her forehead like long legged spiders) say that they cannot give us any refund because they are not allowed to do refunds. Spider-leg-eyelash says that only the owner and manager can do refunds and they do not come to the store. She asks me to spell my name - but I have an unusual name, so I hand her my driver's license so they can see how it is spelled. Spider-leg-eyelash refuses to take my license and it drops on the counter. She tells me that she will not help me because I "threw" my card at her. Spider-leg-eyelash and Jlina retreat to the back of the store. So I asked in loud voice so they can hear me in the back if I need to call someone, like the authorities to get our refund. A third server comes and tells me that they will give me the phone number of the owner. Jlina comes back, takes my license and writes my name on a piece of paper and adds "MAL" in front of my name. I get pissed off at the insult and told her to scratch "MAL" after my name and she should just copy how my name is spelled on my license. She argues that is my name (the one with "MAL" added. I tell her to remove that from my name. The other server (the normal one, not Spider-leg-eyelash) takes it and asks for my cell number, which I give and she puts it on the paper. She says that someone will call me to let me know about the refund. I do not trust them so I refused to leave without anyway to get a refund, so I ask for the contact info of the manager/owner. Jlina gives me a piece of paper with "Christian 831-235-3750" on it. As we leave the place, I hear them talking - "I am not giving her that info. I just gave her Christian's number." I call the number and leave a message. The owner calls me and tells me I will get a refund. They ask for my email, I gave it to them. They said they will email me either a receipt or a screenshot of the refund. Days later, I get my refund on my credit card. Lesson learned -- We will never return to any Erik's Deli ever again! read more

Stopped by during a road trip. Quick refreshing meal. I ordered the 1/2 Sandwich Combo with the Butternut Squash Soup and Ciao Down Sandwich. The soup was really good. The sandwich was decent but bread wasn't that fresh and flavors weren't anything special. I wish to give them a 3.5 since they gave us two extra pickles which was really awesome. read more

I stopped in recently after a number of years since my last visit. We wanted something quick so not sit down but I hate fast food so that was our. I remembered these sandwiches were pretty delicious. Also, they have several soups at all times and I LOVE soup. Well, friends, they are still delicious! I was greeted as soon as I walked in and asked if I was in to pick up an order. Several people picked up call ahead orders while I was there so that's apparently a popular option. I ordered the pilgrim's progress, a raging bull, two cups of clam chowder and an unsweetened tea. The sandwiches had lots of meat, huge chunks of avocado (that didn't come out the ends of the bread), sooo much goodness packed in them. The clam chowder was just ok. I wish I would have gotten one of them as butternut squash soup. Oh well, next time. They also have big delicious salads which I would have opted for if I wasn't eating in the car. Great sandwich! Stopped by for a light lunch with the hubby when we were visiting family in Salinas last week. My brother in law and sister in law usually split a sandwich and that sounded like a great idea since we wanted to have a seafood dinner in Monterey that evening. We decided on the REO Speedwagon...ham, turkey and jack. It had some kind of "secret sauce" that was really good. I wasn't expecting it to have sprouts on it, but the others gladly added them to their sandwiches. The hubby and I each had a bag of chips and a drink. A very satisfying lunch for two for less than $20! My BIL said Eric's had multiple locations in the area. Very good lunch! I would definitely stop by again when we're in Salinas. I work right down the street so Erik's is usually my go to for a healthy and filling sandwich on the daily. I always get a half sandwich and it's a great price for $5. I always order through the app and I arrive just in time for my lunch to pick it up and the employees already even know me by name. I have tried almost every sandwich on the menu excluding the Reo Speedwagon. My favorites are definitely The Raging Bull, Chicken Durango, Pot Belly, and Abbott's habit. I love me a warm and toasty satisfying sandwich. I have yet to be disappointed. Employees are also managing to keep up the tremendous customer service during this pandemic and I praise them for it. Favorite stop along the 101 whenever we go to the beach. I always get the Farmers Market - the most delicious veggie imaginable: on whole wheat bread with sunflower seeds everything fresh! Second time I go this month and order the mandarin salad, as soon as I get home I realized they did not put the dressing! I was so bummed out because this was the second time. I did a yelp search for gluten friendly restaurants in the Salinas area and I stumbled upon this little sandwich shop. Very clean, has a nice seating area, and an impressive menu of gourmet deli sandwiches. The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable about what was gluten free, but even if they hadn't, they have clear labeling on their menu to make ordering straight forward and simple. The food was prepared in a non contaminated area as well. The turkey walnut pesto on their gluten free bread was amazing. Their chili is also gf and delicious. I really enjoyed it and the prices are very affordable. The excellent taste, the friendly service, and the ease of ordering gf safe food makes me want to come back and nom here every time I visit my sister in Salinas. read more

Erik's DeliCafé has become my second go to spot for a good healthy sandwich! I typically get the REO Speed wagon and it's always very good. However, the last couple visits there has been a few negatives.. I always order online for curbside pick up. The previous order they forgot to customize my sandwich like I asked to. My most recent visit I pulled up to the pickup spot and called them to notify them that I'm here but the phone just kept ringing and ringing with no answer. I finally just went inside and picked up my order. It seems like they have new people working here which I'm assuming is the cause of the few hiccups I've experienced. Felt like the Twilight Zone, like I literally walked into saloon, where the cowboys and sheriff were about to have a showdown. But that's not what happened. This cafe/deli is decorated with chainsaws, lanterns, pitchforks, horse saddle and other tools while Guns N Roses played in the background. We were greeted warmly and friendly by the staff and the service was quick! I ordered a half combo- pot belly sandwich and house salad which came up to $10. My friend ordered the half combo- chicken pesto and New England clam chowder. Again, it amounted to $10. We ordered soda and they arrived in canteens, jk, in glass jars. The food was definitely worth it, delicious, huge portion of salad ( almost like a full salad). I couldn't finish my meal. My friend ate all of his and though I liked his sandwich, I didn't particularly like the clam chowder. It was meh!
