Of the two main restaurant-style eateries at the Sacramento International Airport, I would say Esquire Grill gives off more of the "higher end" vibes compared to Cafeteria15L which is on the opposite side of the airport, near Gates 20/21. Esquire Grill is cleaner, offers more seating and a better menu compared to Cafeteria15L. They offer a full bar. Our server Lisa, was cool and no BS type of personality. I dig it ;) Food from the kitchen takes a while to come out, so I would recommend knowing what you want when you get seated and place your order right away. Pricing? It's airport pricing so be prepared to pay cuz it's pricey. Not worth the proportions, but it is what it is and good while pregaming before your flight. Menu is a bit lackluster, service can be slow when they're busy and food is mediocre. My husband and I wanted to sit down and have a meal to start our vacation and I thought Cafeteria was closed so we were left with Esquire. We started with mimosas ($15.99 each!!) and they were good but not worth the price. We were given one small glass of orange juice for the both of us and mini bottles of champagne. I had the huevos rancheros; salsa was actually spicy, which I liked. I didn't like that the liquid from the beans was just sitting at the bottom of my dish. My tortillas were basically swimming in it. Hubs had the omelette and enjoyed it. It's pretty expensive, but I'm not surprised since it's in the airport. Unexpectedly had some extra time before my flight today, and found myself hungry for some REAL food (not those airport sandwiches they overprice) Stumbled upon this place and I must say I am so happy I did!! My waitress was Karen and she was nothing short of amazing. She was quick, tentative and smiled the whole time. And for a small restaurant the seating options are plenty! Great music, and easy access to hear the announcements for planes departing She also came over and apologized for my breakfast taking a little longer than usual because she had to stop and save a little girl from choking on her food. This isn't just airport food, it's upscale airport food. For only a few dollars more than the other burger places, you can have a great sit down meal in a relaxing environment with servers that are attentive. The food was great and the cocktails were also prepared wonderfully. With my meal and tip, along with 2 cocktails, my bill was $76. Keep in mind the cocktails that I had were $18/each so the price may seem high for the over meal, but the food costs were about $2 more than the serve and go restaurants nearby. read more

I want to start out by saying that I would have gave five stars if it weren't for the TERRIBLE attitude and unprofessional actions by the bar tender Kerri. I travel often and so I come in multiple times a year and this women's attitude is always the same. I've learned to just avoid the bar area because she seems to dislike her job so much and it has shown every time I have come in. She has rolled her eyes, made rude remarks and used extremely unwelcoming body language. I would've given her a hug if I thought it would've helped. The food usually takes a little longer than expected but it's an airport and I understand. The food always tastes great and I'm a picky California Chef. For Airport service, this is pretty darn good. They get you in and out quickly, friendly staff. Food is better than I expected, but does have room for improvement. FOOD: I try to not have a big meal before my flight and before my trip because when I land, my foodie self would want to try something at my destination. I've been here several times and always order the BUTTER LEAF LETTUCE SALAD WITH BEETS, GOAT CHEESE, APPLES, & WALNUTS. It's absolutely LIGHT, DELICIOUS, and hits the spot every. single. time!!! DECOR: The decor at Esquire Grill is gorgeous, masculine, and felt very luxurious. It definitely set the tone for my perfectly planned weekend getaway. As I was seated by the host, I noticed that there were plenty of outlets available for me to charge my electronics with while I sip on a glass of wine and have a light meal before taking off. Such a plus! Especially when you are coming directly from a meeting at work or when your battery is low. WI-FI: Wi-Fi for guests is available for free of charge and does not require any special passwords to connect! Wow! What a nice plus! SERVICE: The service here is amazing, very accommodating, and extremely attentive. Refills my water or asks me if there's time for another glass of wine without me having to ask for more!!! Been here a few times. Consistently average/just okay. Last week had the chicken sandwich. This week did the artichoke and Brussels sprouts. Artichoke and dip was good. Some bites of the artichoke were cold and undercooked. I imagine they were pre-cooked and reheated but not thoroughly. The brussel sprouts had good flavor. Different than the balsamic that is everywhere but these seem to be boiled or maybe steamed and they'd be a lot better if roasted. The texture is off for a stand alone dish. The server was great (same the last 2 times). Same could be said about the server from a couple months ago. Not a lot of options in the terminal. read more

Stopped at this restaurant in the Sacramento airport on our layover. It says a lot when the bartender just retired after 45 years of service and our waitress has been there for 40 years! The air conditioning was on. It wasn't very busy before the noon hour. The cooks, which are nearby my booth, wore little chef hats and laughed and chatted all talkative about pawn shops, bull dogs and serial killers. The chatter went down when they were chefing it up.  I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and fries. The sandwich was great (no avocado/no tomato) on what appeared to be a fresh baked bun. The fries were definitely fried in fresh oil. They were light and delicious. The fresh brewed iced tea with lemon refreshed to the tune of 5 glasses, all quickly refilled.  Dessert, an apple tart, was made to order with caramel and vanilla ice cream. So many flavors that the apple was lost in the taste and mainly was on one side of the tart. I think more apple, more evenly, would benefit.  Overall a decent dining experience for an airport. The chilly air made me cold, which is rare. Stop in for foods. You'll be glad you did. read more
