So I found this place on yelp while looking for tortas. This spot is right up the street from work and I actually been here but for gas. Such a great hidden spot with delicious food. The first time I came I ordered pork and chicken tacos that were so good that I returned the next day for more. The first day I ordered the asada torta it was good it would have been excellent if the meat was more tender. The second time I decided on the pork torta because the first was really good and I wanted to give something else a try in the tortas. The place is always busy with people coming and going or staying to eat their meal. So this will be my go to spot whenever I want great Mexican food. read more

Mmmmmm! This is one of my new favorite places. Though it's in an industrial area and not-so-fancy, folks are friendly and the food is great. Plates were generously full and service was fast. They're open from 7am-8pm and you can dine in or takeout. The Steak/Chicken/Shrimp Fajita was big enough for 3-4 people. I'm a Chili Relleno fan and this is the best one I've had for a LONG time. The pepper was perfectly cooked- tender, cheese was abundant and the sauce was excellent. Even the chips and salsa were delicious! I stopped by another time for Mexican breakfast and was pleased to find lots of delicious choices. The ample servings are complete with freshly made tortillas and great coffee. This is one of those restaurants that you'd never pay any attention to, so I thank my dear husband for discovering this jewel for me. The location is pretty close to Coliseum BART, but I usually pass it whenever I go to it, mostly because it's right next to a truck stop? A tire shop? It's definitely not haute cuisine, not one of those pan-Latin spots. What they serve is authentic Mexican fare. No one has yet written a review probably because most of the folks that eat here don't speak much English. But this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Town. I am a fan of the humble cheese enchilada. Most of the time, I go to a restaurant that loves to drench the enchilada in a gallon of ranchero or verde sauce. Not here. There's very little sauce on the enchilada, which allows the flavors to shine through, yet it's also not dry--very moist. I can tell when my husband goes to any other restaurant--the enchilada just doesn't compare! They give you a choice of whole or refried beans, rice, plus a pretty substantial salad. My husband gets the chimichanga and he says it's great! The staff never treats us like we're "less than" simply because we are not Latino. They are totally friendly, and our order is always correct. I just feel like they take the time to get our meals right. I have to mention the fruit salad. Last time I was there, I saw a bunch of whole fruit. Come to find out they also make the most wonderful fruit salad. The owner cuts up oranges, papaya, mango, banana, apples, pineapples and you can add yogurt, granola, coconut, etc. It's the best darn dessert/breakfast/snack ever. I had enough to last me two days. In fact, apparently, we're eating there tonight! So give this place a try if you want to have tasty, homespun traditional Mexican. read more

Next to a truck stop & a very busy road, with blues & honkey tonk music playing on an electronic jukebox...you wouldn't expect authentic incredible Mexican food coming out of the kitchen. But it was. This place is frustrating - incredibly iffy. Sometimes it's quite good (I only get tacos, so bare that in mind), other-times not so good. Today it wasn't. The tacos had far too much meat. Totally ruined the balance, not enough salsa, onions etc. And the carnitas were over-cooked. Whenever I start a new job, one of my first missions is finding the most authentic Mexican restaurant with minimal distance and effort (whether or not I can get coworkers to join me is another story). Yelp lead me to Estrellas de Sinaloa which is charmingly situated between a field of shipping containers and something to do with semi-trucks. It was surprisingly empty on a Monday during lunch, but it was a little before noon so who knows. Anyway, the woman at the counter was reasonably friendly and more importantly the carnitas was AMAZING. I got a super burrito (hold the sour cream) and could barely contain my joy with the crispy carnitas melding well with the rice, guac, beans and cheese. Great fresh hot sauce too! They take cards which is much appreciated... my total was a little over $7 which seemed fair given the size of the burrito and quality of ingredients. My one gripe is the clear, lardy grease that oozed out with every other bite. read more

Ok, so my friend decided to ask the person helping us what she liked, normally something I never do because I feel like they're trained to upsell. He ordered the shrimp under her suggestion and mg. That is ridiculously good grilled shrimp. It had such a good and strong flavor. The bacon that they grilled alongside the shrimp was too good for words. It literally just had me wanting to consume his entire plate. I had the super burrito, which is pretty standard fare, but cheap in comparison to what they could've charged me. Came with enchilada sauce and cheese melted on top. The lengua was tender and not too gamey. The mix of sour cream, guacamole and beans were not perfect so it started to taste a little redundant but that might have also been because the burrito was bigger than my forearm! It's a little strange and there were trucks coming in and out of the little parking lot that it shares with the truck stop but if you needed a quick fix, don't hesitate! Oh yes, our entire meal was under $15 and the waitress was super friendly and nice to us :) They take credit cards! read more

I had heard about this place from a friend of mine. She had a very good view for this restaurant so we decided to try it out too during one of my weekends. I must say it did not disappoint us. We ordered some salsa, taco salad and enchiladas. I alone finished the entire taco salad as it was so delicious. The enchilada with chicken was equally good. Since my friend was still hungry and shocked at my appetite he ordered the chimichangas. Well unfortunately he did not share it with me but praised the dish a lot. We didn't order specialty drinks, just coke. The service was good and really fast as my friend had mentioned. We were done with our food within 30 minutes of being seated. I wasn't sure about the place from the outside, but it is spacious, clean and friendly inside. The restaurant offers a menu typical of Mexican restaurants but with a more authentic and expansive list than usual. It has a number of breakfast items, and I love a Mexican breakfast. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito with rice, hashbrowns, chorizo and scrambled eggs -- it was so large that I had it for two breakfasts. It was tasty and the tortilla was grilled perfectly. The host / order taker was very friendly and helpful. I ordered verde salsa and got red in the bag, so maybe a bit more attentiveness to this would make the customer experience even better. read more

Went here b fore the A'S game, and got a carnitas burrito wife and me shared one and wow it was plenty. Carnitas were really good had a crisp to them wich made tthe burrito even better. plenty of everything. Recommend to anyone coming thus way. Expecially b fore the game. This is probably the best restaurant never heard of. I've been coming to this place for the last 4 years after a Raider game. Their chilaquiles plate is one of the best I've had here. Yeah... no... this place was recommended to me by some friends. It's horrible. Really out of the way and the service is awfully slow. The super burrito was cold in some parts for some reason... the extra cheese wasn't extra... the guar and sour cream were literally non existent... and the asada was crazy dry. My friend's quesadilla was also sub par. It's one lady trying to serve the whole room and it just doesn't work... took us about 20 minutes to get the bill and pay. read more

A good place to wait out the Warriors BART traffic, or in our case the MLK march. We had two tacos with rice and beans. Very good and very filing. A tip for vegans--i asked for tacos with nopales (cacti), an item I saw on the breakfast menu. Not sure whether the beans are vegan though. read more

Shrimp Ceviche was good almost every time I have gotten it. I have a high bar for a great ceviche because we are from Sinaloa and we have quite a few expert ceviche chefs in the family! One time the lime they used didn't taste very fresh and another time it looked like they skimped on the shrimp. But I've gotten it quite a few times and it remains my local go-to for ceviche when I don't feel like preparing it at home. My favorite here though is the breakfast burrito with carne asada. I'm not even a fan of carne asada normally! It's definitely a good sized burrito and they give you excellent portions of eggs in there. Really great flavor with everything they throw in. I used to live in New Mexico and the one thing I had missed the most was all of the options I had for a good breakfast burrito. I'm happy to have finally found one that satisfies the craving. read more

Went in for a couple of breakfast burritos. The gal at the counter was polite. We waited about 10 minutes for our food to be made. Got home and were pleasantly surprised how good and satisfying these burritos were. The menu is vast and we are looking forward to trying some more things on the menu. Wow...why haven't we gone here before....that will now be remedied. We went for breakfast, and coffee was great -- not too strong, with a touch of cinnamon. I went for plain old bacon and eggs. The scrambled eggs were light and fluffy. And piping hot! The bacon? Yowza!! As I get older, my taste buds are changing, and bacon is one of things...at a lot of places, bacon no longer seems bacony, but more like a hard salt lick. The other problem is that most places use a bacon press. Terrible thing. Flat bacon is hard, not crisp. With bacon, pressing it takes out those lovely pockets of yum... just flat and hard and salt. This place? Thin curly bacon with a wonderful crispness and FLAVOR.... I let my husband have a piece (that was hard!) and he agreed -- the bacon was AMAZING. Hubby had a breakfast burrito -- and he said it was the best he's had in a long time. The tortilla looked good -- he didn't share (but he used a lot of hot sauce...that I can't stand, so it's all good) Best part? The bill was under 20 bucks. read more

Decided to try out this place out since it was close by where I work. I can only handle so much Chipotle until I get a craving for some authentic Mexican food. So for my first visit I ordered a chicken quesadilla with all the fixins (guacamole, pico de gallo, & sour cream). The service lady was nice and I got my food in fair amount of wait time (~15 minutes) considering there were a couple of customers ahead of me. The serving of quesadillas I received was more than enough to feed 2 people, so you'll definitely get your money's worth here. And the chips and fresh salsa I received with my order were quite delicious too. The chicken quesadilla itself tasted okay. I keep hearing about how tasty their carnitas is, so maybe I'll order a carnitas quesadilla or burrito the next time around. One thing I did notice about my plate however was that the helpings of guacamole and sour cream that came with the quesadilla were lacking and a bit on the runny side.
