The place is so cute and really gives you that European feel. I think the best part was when we sat down and they had these little wooden stools next to your chair for your purse - HOW ADORABLE and practical! We ordered some lovely white wine. Sincerely, this was the perfect dining experience. Such a beautiful, rustic open space (a truly open space - it opens into the Farmer's Market). It felt like a beautiful Italian country kitchen ....We were charmed as soon as we walked in, with the lovely setting, beautiful ambiance and live music. The service was extraordinary - helpful, very very kind. We were frequently checked on throughout our meal. Our server was very knowledgeable, patient. He helped us pick out what to order. Everyone went above and beyond. We had our little dog; and they were so sweet, surprised us by bringing over a bowl of water, nice touch... The manager or possibly the owner came by to say hello. She was very sweet and welcoming. Had a very good, crisp, glass of white wine from their nice wine list (my boyfriend noted the fragrance of it) while we went through the difficult process of deciding what to order. There were so many good choices and settled on some dishes recommended by others on yelp and one that the server said was one of his favorites. No one had to help me with my pizza selection; that was a no brainer... So yes, the food - omg! The food! Soooo good! My boyfriend kept on raving over the frittura misto - fried shrimp, calamari and vegetables appetizer, with a yummy aioli sauce. Fried calamari is one of the dishes that we always order, and he said this was the best he'd ever had! Lightly breaded. Perfectly crispy. A definite must for anyone that likes calamari. Not only that, but we had a delicious pasta tagliatelle all bolognese with a meat sauce. We had a similar the night before, but this was even better. For me - and this is saying so much - we splurged and got a pizza with truffle, arugula, mushrooms and creamy buffalo mozzarella. I was surprised because I did not see it on any of the menus shown on yelp.... Was happily shocked to see truffle on the menu! It was the most expensive on the menu, but, hey, truffle! We get truffle whenever we can, whatever country... and for example had just got back from Italy and had hunted down a number of wonderful truffle dishes in Italy, and purchased fresh truffle there. The point is - we love truffles! So when I told my boyfriend that this was the best truffle pizza I've ever had, that was a very big deal. They put a lot of truffle in the pizza, and in combination with the wonderful other ingredients, I was in heaven! We had a bit of crust left over and had to dip in the virgin olive oil on our table. I treated my friend to lunch here located in the original Farmers Market. What a lovely place, it seemed like entering into an elegant farmhouse, adorned with big beautiful natural wooden tables. The side wall is festooned with bottles of Organic wine curated from their winery Ettore in Mendocino. Now let's get to the food and service, both of which were excellent. We split a very fresh and perfectly seasoned tricolore salad. Next we split the lightly battered perfectly salted frittura mista, showcasing the tenderness of each piece, including calamari rings, tentacles, zucchini and carrot strips. I opted for the pillowy Gnocchi alla Sorrentina, they were so heavenly that I didn't want them to leave my plate. The light tomato sauce created a perfect marriage to the straccatella OMD (O Mio Dio)! I enjoyed a glass of the Ettore Chardonnay which was very pleasant and non oaked. Located inside the Farmers Market, this little Italian restaurant is so cute inside. The service was excellent and the staff had such great energy, which really elevated the experience. The pasta was a bit overcooked for my taste--I prefer it more al dente--but the flavor was definitely there. The calamari was really good and came with large pieces of shrimp, which was a nice surprise. Honestly, if it weren't for the great service, I probably would have given this place three stars. Found this place via Groupon and really, otherwise I would have had no idea it was there. And we go to the Market regularly. The Groupon is a good deal and this is an interesting place for sure. On a Sunday evening, the place was full of parents with young kids gulping wine and eating charcuterie and shoppers about to go home after hitting the stalls at the Market. The Groupon was for dinner for two with a bottle of wine and there are a lot of caveats. You can only select from a handful of the wines and pasta options. But as they make their own wine, anything you choose is probably good. I was disappointed that the only white choice was Chardonnay, which I don't care for, but their version was actually really nice. We ordered an extra "Romanacci" salad to start (not included in our deal). The tuna was very mild... maybe too mild. There wasn't much to this salad. I wanted a bit more of... something. For our pastas, I had the Ricotta Ravioli, which was fine, and my companion had the Rolled Lasagna, which was the better of the two dishes. Dessert was included and we had a nice slice of Tiramisu. Definitely recommend stopping in here for wine and a snack or a quick meal when you're at the Farmer's Market. It's a cute little find. I stopped in while it was raining, and I instantly loved the setup. Since it's inside the market, it has a really open, airy feel- the seating faces towards the walkway making it perfect for grabbing a glass of wine and people-watching. Definitely a hidden gem. We came to this very pretty, airy, restaurant at The Original Farmers Market to celebrate a friend's birthday and for their dine LA lunch special ($35), which two of the three of us participated in. Offered in the special was three courses, plus optional $15 for Wine from their winery. Service was first class. Love that they kept my water filled! I didn't have wine, but my friends really loved both the white and red varieties. Started off with really lovely, not salty prosciutto and focaccia. Amongst the best I've ever had. Also chose the Sformato di Carote, a timbale of puréed caramelized carrot on a bed of Gorgonzola sauce with caramelized walnuts. $22. Beautiful unexpectedly large portion Caesar salads selected for the primi. Then secondi of pastas: tagliolini Bolognese for one person, another chose the Cacio E Pepe made tableside in a huge hollowed out wheel of parmigiano cheese. That was cool! I had the spaghetti alla Nerano, made famous by Stanley Tucci. A creamy cheesy portion with thin sliced zucchini in it. So rich that I had to take half of it home. My friend's birthday dessert was vanilla panna cotta with a candle. So nice of them to be accommodating! Validated parking was seven dollars for two hours. Geesh. read more

Had a very good dinner experience here. Ambiance is nice, and it's an open air concept. I came on a Wednesday night, and it wasn't that busy. There was only one waiter working, Vincent, and he was excellent! My favorite plates were the crostini di stracciatella, lasagna rolls, and the calamari with shrimp. The tagliatelle bolognese was pretty good too. I didn't love the branzino or steak filet, but they were okay. I recommend the French rosé. It's very refreshing! For whatever reason, I always overlook the LA Farmer's Market. There are so many great shops and places to eat there but the Fairfax district typically signifies Ethiopian or Kosher to me. A friend prompted us to branch out and, ecco, the result was a delightful experience at Ettore. One of the big attractions, of course, is the wine list at Ettore. Our server, Christopher, explained the wine flight being offered: Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon. He recommended the Insalata di Gorgonzola, i.e. Gorgonzola cheese topped with caramelized walnuts, focaccia with olive oil and Ravioli di Ricotta cheese with spinach, carrots, zucchini and cherry tomatoes. Everything arrived promptly and the food was delicious. The general manager, Simone, and the assistant manager, Kimberly greeted us after we arrived. We were seated quickly on a busy Saturday night even though we did not have a reservation. The service was exceptional, from the greetings to the serving to the clearing away. It is a bright and airy space with lots of charm, and parking in the lot, while crowded, was available, even at a popular time. Giving a 5 Star Review because of our server Luigi, who more than anything, made the experience. After a lunch elsewhere, decided we had enough room for a glass of wine. Ended up doing a full on tasting of x2 flights of wine from Ettore's winery in Mendocino, CA. Also had their In-House Focaccia Breads and Olive Oils, and the Chocolate Cake. Needless to say, but everything there was great. The best part was being able to enjoy this treat with our server Luigi, who was genuinely curious to learn about our favorites, as well a playfully testing our palates for the various wines tasted! We ended up taking home a bottle of Sangiovese after trying it there, it was also a personal favorite of his from when he lived back home in Italy. I had an amazing experience at E T T O R E at The Grove. I am not very familiar with the area, but we walked through the Original Farmers Market to get there and it was well worth it. The ambiance was excellent and warm with a very comforting, homely feel. The wine selection was absolutely superb and the Cabernet is a must try. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and watching prosciutto being carved right in front of us was such a nice touch. The charcuterie boards were fabulous, especially the cheese that had pistachios in it which was hands down my favorite. The pasta dishes were rich, comforting, and perfectly cooked, and one of the salads with fennel was fresh and delicious. We were a large group of about ten to fifteen girls celebrating my friend Taryn birthday, and Vincent took amazing care of us. His service was attentive, kind, and made the night even more special. The rotolo di lasagna and the tagliatelle alla bolognese were both presented well and were both delicious. They were both pretty meaty dishes. Went on Monday in the afternoon for my wife's birthday. She had been wanting to go for a while and we went and she got herself the flight of wine tastings to get a feel which she like the best. A beautiful spot at The Grove that feels like it was designed for a great night out. We ordered the Lasagna Rolls (fantastic, with perfectly crispy edges that added amazing texture), I had the Tagliatelle Verde with Duck Ragu, and we got some focaccia for the table. Everything was excellent and bursting with flavor. The bread was phenomenal too, although I personally wish it came included with the meal, just a little bias of mine from other Italian spots. One note: we did leave feeling a little hungry, which isn't usually what I expect from an Italian restaurant. If that doesn't bother you, though, don't let it stop you from coming because the quality is high here and the taste is excellent. We recently stumbled upon Ettore, tucked away in the Farmers Market at 3rd & Fairfax, and what a wonderful discovery it turned out to be. From the moment we walked in for a late lunch, our server Mateo greeted us with a warm smile and genuine hospitality. Although it was our first visit, he made us feel like longtime regulars. His friendly demeanour and extensive knowledge of the menu immediately set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, evoking the feeling of dining in the rustic dining room of an Italian villa in Tuscany. The warm interiors create an inviting atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. Following Mateo's recommendations, we began with glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon and the Crostini di Stracciatella. Watching the prosciutto being freshly sliced was a delightful experience in itself. For our main course, Mateo suggested the Rotolo di Lasagna and the Ravioli Burro e Salvia. Both dishes were outstanding, but the lasagna was truly the star of the meal. I had never experienced a rolled lasagna before; three perfectly rolled slices resting atop a rich, deeply flavorful beef Bolognese sauce. It was both unique and absolutely delicious. To finish, Mateo encouraged us to enjoy an espresso along with his favourite dessert, the panna cotta with berry coulis. It was the perfect ending to an already memorable meal. It is increasingly rare to find a restaurant so dedicated to the quality of its ingredients and the care taken in preparing every dish. Even rarer is finding someone as knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely kind as Mateo. His recommendations elevated our entire experience and made our first visit truly special. We will enthusiastically recommend Ettore to all of our family and friends. If you have the opportunity to dine there, I highly recommend requesting Mateo as your server; he will make your meal even more memorable. As a bonus, Ettore features live jazz music every Friday and Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., making it an even more inviting destination for a relaxing evening. read more

My friend and I stumbled on this place while wandering through the Farmers market, I didn't realize it had opened, but I'm glad it did. Since the restaurant is tied to the winery in Mendocino, the wine selection is curated and tasty. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and attentive and with such a lovely atmosphere this is a great place to sit, enjoy some wine/food, and people watch. The menu is full of Italian stars and to start they give you homemade focaccia with their own olive oil to dip - yum! In the end we opted for the MOZZARELLA E PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA (Buffalo mozzarella DOP, Parma prosciutto, sundried tomatoes -$24) and RAVIOLI CON STRACOTTO DI CINGHIALE (Ricotta-stuffed ravioli, wild boar sugo - $26). The prosciutto and mozzarella was light, with a nice salty, sweetness from the meat and cheese. The boar ravioli was pillowy and nicely balanced. Looking for an Italian restaurant that I hadn't been to yet, decided to try Etorre Vino e Cucina, an Italian restaurant located in the Farmers Market at the Grove. It serves wines from its Etorre winery in Mendocino, CA. Walking into a bright dining room warmly decorated in light wood, with selves of pasta, olive oil and cook books, round dining tables made from planked floors and comfortable country chairs. Warmly greeted by the host, we were given the choice of dining inside or outdoors around an olive tree. Started with a glass of Etorre Chardonnay Reserve, rich in color matching its depth of flavors. Started with the Carrot Soufflé served on creamy polenta garnished with glazed walnuts, simple but wonderfully matched flavors. For the main, had the Tagliatelle verdi with a Duck ragu, pasta cooked to perfection, softly firm, and coarsely ground duck meat with just a hint of sauce reminiscent of a dish I had in Florence at a Michelin starred restaurant where the emphasis was on the pasta and the meat with just enough sauce to barely coat the pasta, classic and authentic. It's always fun to visit the Farmers Market, but this restaurant gives me another reason to visit. read more

A cute new spot. It's nice to see a new addition in the area. A huge plus that we also just get to walk over. It was the perfect time to give them a try as it gave me the opportunity to see the decorations at the grove. Stood firm on the outdoor reservation I made despite how cold it was because there was a heater outside and they also provided blankets. We started off with the wine flight where you got to pick 3 glasses. So worth it. Their house red was my favorite. The rosé was also divine. To eat, we shared the spiedo, roasted eggplant, lamb and diavola. First off, their wine selection is it. I loved their red so much I ended up availing of their 2 for 1 deal so I got 2 bottles. I highly recommend getting the flight. Both of us agreed that our favorite was the octopus skewer. The purée it came with was amazing. It was perfection. Chef's kiss. The braised lamb was a surprise. There was so much that I made my friend take the leftover to add to ramen or somesuch. The only letdown was the pasta. The noods were about 5 seconds extra overcooked which made them thisclose to mushy. A damn shame really as the flavors were otherwise bangin. Despite that small hiccup the rest of the night was great. I can't say enough how amazing their service was. Every person we spoke to was friendly and had a smile on their face.
