I've been going to Evan's since they opened. Georgia and Evan are lovely people and the food there is consistently phenomenal. Everything from breakfast, to salads, to Greek dishes are all good. I ordered delivery. Really really tasty food. I got the gyro cheesesteak and falafel side. Gyro cheesesteak is basically just gyro and a melted slice of cheese but the gyro meat itself was really yummy. Falafel was amazing. Delivery took about 45 minutes, but it was 8pm on a Friday and the driver was a really sweet older gentleman, so I forgive them! I'll definitely order again. read more

The gyro meat is so good here. Whether it be a platter, a sandwich, in an omelette...it's what you should be ordering. The staff is also very friendly. I've had no complaints really. Pricing is pretty good as well. Only reason it's not a 5 is the gyro is too good. Everything that's not gyro meat is just kind of average. read more

An average luncheonette, the biggest issue I have here are the long wait times. I don't mean 5 or even 10 minutes for an omelette but up to 20 or 25 minutes. This is not acceptable. read more

Sooo..I'm not sure why my Sundays are not quite the same if I don't make my normal ritual visit to this establishment . But they're not !! I just wish they would open at 5am so I could start every day off like my SUNDAYS ,,, hint hint :) Great service from this family owned and operated restaurant !! And I mean RESTAURANT.... From Breakfast thru Dinner the menu doesn't quit !! TRUE Greek cuisine..at its finest !! And A little bit from every other countries menu' ... NOT SURE what I had the other evening because I called on my way home from work and wanted to take a recommendation from one of the hostess owners ..... WELL..it was one of the best Chinese dishes I ever had !! And it probably wasn't even Chinese . Love this place! Stopped in on a Saturday evening for a takeout dinner and was not disappointed. Quick service, very polite employees, and tasty food! I went here a couple times. Its a very small operation. Looks like its a husband and wife team. The food is good, but nothing great. When you order they tell you 10 minutes for pick up but its never ready. If they were a little more organized I would probably go more often read more

Stopped by for breakfast with my wife and kids. You know how they say "you can't screw up breakfast", well yes you can and they did. Broccoli Omelette was under cooked and the broccoli was frozen. Can you imagine using frozen broccoli? You can go a few miles to BJ'S and buy a big bag of NOT FROZEN for a little over 3 bucks, yet these cheapos use frozen. It was tasteless, not even ketchup could save this monstrosity. The home fries were bad and the toast was barely toasted. The bacon omelette was awful too, bacon was soggy, not even crispy. All of the other breakfasts stunk too. The male owner walks around with a sour puss and looks miserable. Smile pal, you're in the service industry! And, what is up with this place and the mountains of empty boxes everywhere. It's a restaurant, not a Costco! This place is a depressing uninviting mess with boxes, mountains of them! read more

Solid place. Tasty gyro. While it was a nice size, and good value for the money, the price I was charged differed from the menu. Also, the taziki sauce was a little on the bland side. However, I will definitely go back and try some other things. read more

All I can say is the humus, soup, hamburger, pita bread, and service were very good. But my Greek salad and my daughter's Greek salad were extremely disappointing because of too much oil and lack of any vinegar. This is a Greek restaurant.....this is what they do! We won't be back. read more

I found this place recently after living here my whole life. Ive been back like ten times in 2 months. Their gyro is the best around and its like eating two gyros in one sitting, the meat is packed on, full of flavor. The burgers, pizza i had, are big and cooked well. I loved em. When comparing prices, you get the best deal here out of everything around. They also have some good take out (posted inside rest) deals like 3 burger for 12 or something like that, that is pretty cheap, 3 gyros for 18, etc. I enjoy this place, its family run and really happy i discovered this place. Visited Evan's on various occasions. Mostly when coming back from the shore. Food is great! I love it because it's a smaller place and also family owned. Evan and his family do a great job! I have had everything from the wraps, to the souvlaki and gyros which are awesome, and also the greek salad with london broil is delicious. Soups are homeade and always very tasty. Wish we lived closer because I would come here a lot more! read more

I tried Evan's for the first time yesterday and the gyro I had was amazing! The size of the gyro was huge, and so worth it especially for the price you pay! We love this place. Easy, quick and cheap. Their menu is outrageously large, but we have only gotten the Greek stuff (kabobs and grape leaves are awesome). Not anything incredible to look at, but this is sorta like a diner (minus the open 24 hour thing). But, you can't beat the portions and the deal. A Combo platter with 3 meat kabobs, a side of rice or fries, pita, and salad feeds 2 of us for like $13. Can't beat it. read more

Evan's Restaurant is probably one of the best restaurants in the Matawan Area. It is a small place (looks can deceive) but with unbelievable food and decent prices too. I have been a regular customer since they opened about 10 years and not once have I ever had a bad meal! Everything is delicious from their gyros to kebob platters and even fresh seafood.
