Our server's name was Jerry and he was GREAT. Very funny, provided great recommendations and worked hard to ensure our time here was everything it should be. We were celebrating one of the girlie's birthday and they were very accommodating and hospitable. The food was tasty. Get the wagyu cheesesteak bites. We shared the bisque, steak and rigatoni. I let them know that we were celebrating my husband's birthday. It was such a nice touch that they hand-signed his birthday card. After dinner, they also brought out ice cream with toasted coconut on top. It was such a treat! We ordered the wagyu cheesesteak appetizer, which was even better than it sounds. I had an amazing evening at Evelyn with my friend. It was a Saturday night and very busy. We were sat at 10pm for our 9:30pm reservation. The ambiance is top tier. It reminds me of a restaurant in Vegas. Very swanky. The seafood bisque with lobster and crab was 10/10! It had a spicy peppery undertone with lots of seafood. For my main course I ordered the sea bass. I thought the spinach and beurre Blanc sauce was delicious but the fish was slightly over cooked and under seasoned. I made reservations for Evelyn for my birthday dinner. First off, the complimentary valet was so nice! The decor is just gorgeous. It gives a 1970's vibe. From what I heard the reastaurant is named after the book "the 7 husbands of Evelyn Hugo" which if you love to read, is such a good book! The interior is dark and moody, all velvet and gold goodness. Very pretty for a glamorous night out. We were seated and one thing I noticed is there is SO much staff. Someone was always available, whisking away dirty places and bringing fresh silverware. It looked like a well oiled machine. Our server was a delight! She was knowledgeable, made great recommendations and was attentive (her name escapes me but she had long dark hair and a lovely smile! Shout out to you!) As it was my birthday, we were offered watermelon lemon drop shots on the house. They were so good! I ordered the martini of the month and my wife ordered the La Reyna. Both drinks were really good. For apps we got the Parker house rolls and the crab cake! The crab tasted like it came from a can, but it was GOOD. The slaw was lovely and the whipped dip was tasty and a nice change from the usual remoulade. The rolls came with an assortment of whipped butters that were so light and airy! I love a fresh hot roll and these didn't disappoint. For entrees we ordered the prawn primavera and the lobster linguine. Both solid pasta dishes! The lobster was delicious and the prawns were juicy and cooked perfectly. To top the meal we ordered the caviar service. Everything was delicious! This old Hollywood-themed restaurant totally nails the atmosphere--seriously stunning. From the moment you walk in there is beautiful décor, great lighting, and all the vintage glamour you could want. As for the food, it was mostly great! The La Reyna was good, but not necessarily spicy like you would think with the habanero in the ingredients. The Wagyu cheesesteak bites were amazing--crispy, savory, and packed with flavor from the sauce and peppers. The crab cake was solid, well-seasoned, and cooked just right with large chucks of crab. But the star of the show for me was the foie gras mousse--so smooth, rich, and perfectly paired with the figs. I'd come back just for that. The only miss for me was the sea scallops. They looked beautiful, but they tasted a little too charred and didn't have much flavor. Not bad, just not up to the level of everything else. We came for a birthday dinner and we got the Chocolate Decadence for the birthday girl, however the waiter set the cake down and proceeded to chop it in half for no reason. There was no candle or anything. Maybe he forgot. But regardless we weren't sure as to why he cut the cake it half and walked away. That would of been the only weird thing that happened. That is the only onsite parking, unless you park across the street. Typically newer Dallas restaurant, high prices so don't expect to come and be cheap. The portions are right sized so probably won't leave with left overs but will leave full. We had the house rolls for appetizer which comes with 4 different whipped butters. We also ordered a bottle of moscato, one I've actually had before but of course at a premium price. The scallops were delicious! Comes with 4 with caviar on top, a delicious sauce over 3-4 asparagus. They've been open for only about 9 days. Made a reservation and initially wasn't sure which room to pick as there are 3. When I arrived the hostess was very friendly and told me the room that I had chosen was a little blah at the moment and asked if I wanted to try a different room. We ended up in the Ruby room which is basically an open bar area - good choice. The vibe was there. I will say the high tables are a little odd as the chairs sit a little too far back from the table, so we did a little furniture rearranging ‍ After several interruptions from the waiter who then was nowhere to be found at points in the evening we started with a dirty martini and expresso martini. The server's description of the dirty was awful and I almost changed my drink order but so glad that I didn't. Great martini, absolutely loved the olive juice that was used. We both ordered steaks, which were cooked well after an unnecessary explanation to the server of my steaks temperature - not that difficult at least to me. Rare plus ‍ they were out of a few items on the menu, which is odd to me as you just opened, so you should've been prepared. The oysters were perfect in taste and size but at the price point I'd say invest in an oyster rack it's odd having a big tray of oysters sit directly on the table. I can't say that I'd go out of my way to return as there wasn't anything amazing that made me want to revisit but if someone else asked me to go I wouldn't decline. We were seated in seven lounge and loved the cozy seats- you're not super close to another table which is nice. The venue is gorgeous, especially the restrooms. Service was spot on too, but that's kind of where it ended for me. It was tough getting reservations so I had really high expectations. We were surprised there were no specials and the menu is just not that creative. We started with fresh oysters and the cauliflower appetizer. While both had fresh ingredients, the cauliflower was a let down. No textural interest or surprising flavors. For mains, I got the filet cooked medium and while cooked well, it tasted dry and under seasoned. My husband had the Spinalis and that was excellent. The cocktails were good but the Passionate Kiss was too sweet for my taste. There was also a a couple of dancers performing every 15 mins or so, which I guess was part of the Holywood 50-60 vibe they were going for but it just didn't feel cohesive. Maybe if the staff all dressed according to the time era that would have helped? Not sure, but the dancing seemed a bit out of place IMO. Based on the novel, Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Evelyn truly transports you into the pages of the book. My partner and I decided that we wanted to celebrate our 5th anni in a very simple yet chic way. We were able to secure a reservation in room Seven at Evelyn for 9:15pm. I will say that was the earliest available reservation on that Sunday. I have heard that during busy days, it is hard to secure a reservation. So I would keep that in mind when planning. We didn't eat full entrees there, and are planning to return for that reason alone because the experience was so great! We had a few rounds of drinks. I got to try their rotating monthly cocktails, and my partner eventually enjoyed a round of beer. However, the main star of the show was truly the restroom! Inside it reminds me of old West Hollywood, with dark mood lighting, red curtains and sleek marble countertops. The food is ultimately good but expensive, as is normal with a steakhouse. I loved that you get free glass of prosecco in the bathroom, it thought it was a nice touch and there's a lot of mirrors that remind me of an actor's movie set trailer/dressing room. The staff who served us were amazing, they all knew the story of the restaurant and all the items on the menu. The food was tops. The apps were killer, specially the cheese steaks. Gave Evelyn another try. As previously valet was great, no delays and very pleasant attendants. This time we made a reservation for Ruby room and it has darkroom-core aesthetic. As previously their service is great. For drinks I went with my safe choice and favorite drink Negroni with Zephyr gin and it was done perfectly For appetizers: I ordered calamari and shrimp, which was good and I also got Hudson Valley Fois Gras Mousse, which I did not like, however not because it was not done properly but because I didn't like fois gras in the mousse form, so obviously since it was a preference issue I did not send the dish back just did not enjoy it due to my taste buds. For entree: I got Jumbo Sea Scallops and they were delicious! and with that I ordered a side of wild mushrooms which was good as well. For dessert: I had a cappuccino and Sticky Tofee Cake and both were good! I will give this place five stars the day when they actually decorate it and do the pictures in the 70-80s Hollywood style and by that I mean add people of color to the paintings and photographs on the walls. The texas cheesesteak bites were good but nothing to rave about. Not sure why horse radish was paired with them. The NY Strip was seasoned but not the best steak I have had. The caesar salad was phenomenal and the saving grace of the night. It was well dressed and loved how it was paired with crushed breadcrumbs. But it's just a salad, and no the main entree. Skip on the Vodka Rigatoni. The chicken was completely unseasoned and the pasta was extremely too sweet. This is a poor take on a vodka pasta. The burrata on the top is purely for show. The pasta looks great, but tastes terrible. I regret not having it be taken back. The sticky toffee cake was a laugh. The pecan ice cream was too chunky and didn't flow nicely with the cake. The bread came with various house spreads so it was nice to try different ones out-some that were better than others. The calamari could have been fried a little harder but the sauce was fantastic. The fries were amazing. The Mac & cheese was also flavorful and had about 5 oz of steak bites. That said, it was relatively cold. She took very good care of us and seemed to have a genuine interest in us. I like the personal touch of asking for our names and using our names throughout the dinner. I don't know if that's the training or just something she does. The food was delicious. We started with yellowtail sashimi that was topped with a bright citrusy relish. We also tried the calamari and shrimp. My family said it was scrumptious with a very light coating. I think it came with 2 dips. We shared the Caesar salad. I'm very picky about my Caesar salads, but this one didn't disappoint! For mains my daughter and I got the salmon which came with spinach and orzo with an avocado aioli. We enjoyed it, but I do feel like my salmon was cooked 1 minute too long. My husband got a filet mignon, mac and cheese and truffle fries for the table. The steak was perfectly cooked. Our other daughter got the spicy vodka rigatoni that came with a huge chicken cutlet. For a side she got spicy broccolini that came with a honey mustard type of dip. We also got the Parker house rolls that came with 4 whipped butters. My family raved while I thought they were just ok. We ended the dinner with the crème brûlée cheesecake, and it was divine.
