This is my go to coffee shop mostly cause it's so close to my apartment and I'd prefer to support a small mom & pop shop instead of a large chain if I can. The drinks are fairly priced and good most of the time. 1 star is deducted for their inconsistency on the food and sometimes their drinks. Some people make drinks sweeter than others. Sometimes they put barely any cream cheese when I order a bagel. Been here a few times to study and I like how quiet it always is here. It's cozy and small, but they utilize their space very well. There's a TV at one end of the coffee shop with couch seating. There's also lots of outdoor seating too, perfect for that nice weather. The drinks here are good. I got a breakfast croissant one time and the croissant was soooo light and perfectly toasted. I've been here two times and ordered the same thing: a breakfast sandwich with a small breakfast blend tea. I came here with some friends after shopping at the farmers market. It's a tiny, cozy coffee shop with minimal tables. There's couch seating along with a TV. I ordered a kids hot chocolate for my two year old along with a croissant. The hot chocolate was the perfect kids temperature and the croissant was warned up for us. The spot is a little out of the way if you don't already have business in the area. Street parking was ample and it's in an area that is enjoyable to walk through. The workers were friendly and we were helped quickly. They had a large selection of sweets and baked items along with sandwich and bagel choices. I had an iced americano and a lox bagel add bacon. The coffee was good, not too heavy on non coffee notes and was a smooth brew. The bagel was good but, and I say this as a person who loves salt, was reaaaalllyyy salty. I don't know if it was the lox, the bacon, or the caper but it was almost too salty... even for me. They had a nice sitting area and I enjoyed watching their large television while they were playing a show about sloths. Definitely a nice place to drop by and catch up with an old friend (which is exactly what I did when I came here). The Lox sandwich on a bagel was delicious, and the service was friendly/personable. (Shoutout to Nick!) They have plenty of indoor/outdoor seating and plenty of parking. They even have a couch right in front of a TV if you feel like flying solo and just sipping on some coffee. This place is a little gem, loved by the locals but not that that well known beyond the evergreen neighborhood. It is located in Evergreen Village- I believe that is what this area is called, and there is a farmers' market every Sunday just outside of the coffee shop. The sandwiches are delicious. The coffee is solid, although the staff does not really know what kind of coffee blend they are brewing. Perhaps this is for commercial reason, since Philz doesn't really tell you the compositions of its coffee blends either. So I won't hold it against this shop. I am here every weekday because my kids love their breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches. You can't go wrong with any from their large selection. My picky son gobbles up their sausage and egg sandwiches on croissant like no tomorrow. My daughter likes their salami, tuna or turkey club sandwiches, all on their fresh, fluffy and flaky croissants. There's ample protein and always fresh produce in each sandwich. I'm a fan of crunchy cucumbers in my sandwiches but if you're not, rest assured that all sandwiches are made to order. When I want a treat for myself, I'll order their Mexican Mocha (Yum!) or a hot chai with soy. Oh so delicious. The owners are always smiling, kind and efficient. I admire how they're running a small business 7 days a week and raising their family in the neighborhood too. Since then, I've been back at least once a week. They have the best coffee around, hands down. Lots of seating (including outdoor) and a cozy atmosphere. I like this place, I really do. But tbh their coffee is okayyy. Their pastries are good, I get a chocolate croissant warmed up AND they have the Fivestars program where I actually receive a free coffee pretty regularly! They aren't usually too busy during the week, but weekend mornings are pretty crazy. It's family owned and everyone is usually very nice and smiling, there is one guy who's grumpy every time I see him but delivers my coffee and croissant just as good. I've been living in this neighborhood all my life, and it's great that this family-run business is still here. I prefer homemade vs the typical Starbucks. I love coming here to redeem my free coffee check in offer. The chai here is good as well. I also really like studying at this location since there are usually tables available. The food doesn't seem to be anything special though. So far, I've tried the roast beef sandwich and the blueberry bagel. The sandwich was a bit pricey, but it was made fresh and came with chips. The latte I got was ok, there was barely any ice and all the ice melted 5 min after. 2nd time I came in was after going to the Farmer's Market. Again, the owner was standing in the front looking bored out of his mind and super grumpy. He took my order and the amount was a lot less than what is on the board. So I asked him why it was much less. His response- its less because I feel like it. OK! Another customer came in after me and again did not get a greeting. The customer said "can I get a ...." the owner interrupts and says - " I don't know, can you". WTF?? From the times that I have been here, this is not his sense of humor, he is just rude. Its sad that this is suppose to be a local coffee shop for the local neighborhood to get coffee and hangout. This establishment has poor customer service and I would not go here again.
