I ordered a Lemon Basil Cider by One Tree because I love it oh so much. I was so happy to see that selection I stopped looking immediately. Then I decided to try the Pork and Barrels! Nachos were terrible tonight. The chips were undercooked and greasy, some stuck together, so tough they were inedible. The jalapeños are consistently too hot! Being vegetarian, nachos (sans meats) have always been one of my favorite options at this restaurant, but ever since Everybody's took over Northwoods, they have gotten worse and worse. The hand- pie was dull and flavorless, and soggy on the bottom, again. We ordered what the menu called a "Big German Pretzel", and got the attached photo. I'm not sure if whoever made this had ever seen a German pretzel before, but they don't look like this. The only good things in that place are food and drinks. When we were seated the sits and table were dirty, the area where we were seated smelled awful. Silverware was dirty, cups were a bit dirty on outside. Service was slow, we were seated in around 2 minutes when there was no line, and we were waiting to order for around 8 minutes. And then we ordered our lunch and added salad to it, but when we got our salad it had hair in it, they changed it , apologised, and gave us discount. Real neat looking pub on the inside with some interesting decor. We stopped in for an early dinner on a Saturday. They only had one of their own beers available on tap at the time, which was disappointing, but at least it was a good one (it was a Maibock). They had several other local/craft brews on tap, however and a full bar. They have a pretty big of elevated bar grub and beyond...it was hard to decide what to order it all sounded so good. We got the Crawdaddy Dip w/tortilla chips to start and it was described and being chock-full of crawfish...and boy was it! The dip was delicious and we polished it off, no problem. The Hubs got the Chicken Schnitzel sammie which was tasty. With their sammies & burgers you can get either fries or a side salad or coleslaw, which is nice. I got the Steak Salad, which was pretty big. I think it had a half a container of baby spinach in it and several big slices of steak on top. My only gripe about the salad was it came with grilled portobello mushrooms and roasted red pepper...both of which were plentiful but stone-cold...would have been better if those were warmed up a bit or maybe room temp, but that's a minor gripe and the salad overall tasted very good. This place is a great go to for a good time! I normally get the chicken schnitzel but I ventured out and got the chicken sandwich. It was delicious it is basically the chicken schnitzel on a pretzel bun. It's HUGE! I wish they chose a bigger pretzel bun since the chicken is so massive I had a lot of chicken left over. The service was very nice, our waiter made a joke about my husband looking over 21 when we weren't carded. Very lively on a Friday night, not sure if it had to do with first Friday in town. The menu is a mix of classic American and pub favorites. Their beer menu is varied and will make any palate happy. They make hand crafted cocktails that are amazing...,try the gin and tonic. The tonic truly makes it special! If you're a whiskey or bourbon connoisseur, they offer a flights that allow you to sample based on style/region. I can't say which dish I prefer the most, but I will say their burgers are DELICIOUS. Their chicken schnitzel sandwich on a pretzel bun and fries is one of my favorites. We haven't been to Northwood for at least a year probably more. The food was great! One of the best burgers I have had in a really long time! Always busy, which is the same as I remember our last visit. We had a 10-15 minute wait to be seated. It was easy to hold a conversation, as the noise of the restaurant was average. They have a few TV's playing sports. Tonight was a hockey game, basketball game and baseball game. They have a diverse menu, with something for everyone. Our booth was very comfortable. Amazing food and atmosphere! Went out for date night with my husband. He had the amazing Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich! It came on pretzel bun, bacon tomato, onion, lettuce and Mayo with a side of crispy fries. I had the Beer Hall Bratwurst it came with two of the most juicy German brats smoother in a brown gravy, with spaetzle and braised red cabbage! The spaetzle was lack luster compared to the rest of the dinner. I also might be biased as I grew up with my family serving egg dumplings that are similar to spaetzle but are smoother in brown butter! Will be back again for another great meal. Last but not least we had one of their light larger sand the flavors we crisp, semisweet and smooth going down! The wait was a little long when there were open tables to be seated. This is one of the best brew pubs in Clark County and Portland for that matter. It's the venue, food options and food quality which makes this place better than most. It's got better food than the trendy brew pubs in the Pearl. I had the portabella fries $10.50 and a prime rib dip with mushrooms and onions $14.50 and both were fabulous. They executed the tempura batter pretty well and although I would have preferred a ponzu dipping sauce instead of the ranch dressing, I couldn't stop eating them. Nom nom nom sooo good. The prime rib dip was also great. Portabella mushrooms are to boomers what avocados are to millennials. Portabella mushrooms on prime rib? Why didn't I think of that? Ha ha Its got a nice modern hipster vibe and is outdoor dog friendly. Lots of parking but a little hard to find if you are not familiar with Battleground. Service is ok but not 1st class. It's a little pricey but the portion size and food quality justify the costs. I fish Battleground lake with my pup several times a year and this is now our go to lunch spot in Battleground. We stopped by this place as they were just opening for lunch. They have an appealing menu with some mouthwatering choices. I had their Turkey Club with Sweet potato fries. I thought the club was excellent and their choice of toasted sourdough bread puts this sandwich over the top; stuffed with juicy turkey, this sandwich is a winner. What a fun and rustic restaurant! The interior is light and airy, with beautiful natural wood. After walking in, the brewing area adds visual interest, and the gorgeous bar is visible from most of the dining area. My mother and I visited for Happy Hour, which was available on a Sunday! In between a lot of work on my grandmother's home, we worked up quite an appetite. The service was adequate. Our waitress smiled once or twice but did not seem particularly excited about being at work. We were never informed of the daily specials. When she asked our drink orders, she offered me a sample of one of their beers, which was heartily appreciated. I ended up ordering a pint of their aged English Strong Ale, which was very tasty. A balanced beer with caramel notes that truly tributes English beer in the best of ways. However, it took nearly fifteen minutes for me to start enjoying it. Both my mother's soda and our food order took less time once we were able to order. Took quite some time to take our order even though there were only two tables, ours included, in the dining area. My mother ordered the fish tacos, which she mentioned were grilled rather than battered. Definitely a nice option for something less heavy. She asked for the jalapeño 'slaw on the side, which they courteously did. I ordered the Asian fusion style happy hour bowl with tofu, and it was delicious! Emphasis on the Asian fusion, but I wouldn't suggest ordering an Asian dish at a Public House if one is expecting authenticity! Nonetheless, the peanut sauce balanced sweet and savory flavors well, and was not overly salted. Both the rice and vegetables were perfectly cooked. While the breading on the tofu was not particularly crisp, the spices were very tasty. A well-balanced and filling meal! I've been coming to this place for many years. We were there last night, and the place was busy, but got seated right away. Service started out great, with the greetings, but went downhill from there. Our water was never refilled and the waitress messed up our order. Sadly, some of my party couldn't finish their dinner (fries) as they needed water. Two at our table ordered the club which they said was missing flavor, it was just meh. Also, what happened to the prices? I understand the labor cost, inflation, etc., but for almost the same price I can go to other venues with views. And they took away happy hour! Gluten free bread gets soggy really fast, wish they used a different product since you are paying extra for it, i'd rather pay more for something that holds up. Second time I came just after dinner for drinks. The bar top was full so we sat at a table in the bar area. The waitress seemed annoyed that we only wanted drinks, it ended up feeling pretty awkward.
