This restaurant is on all the lists, but I just got takeout and I'm not quite sure why this place is so popular. I got Dan Dan noodles, and they were ok. I chose thin noodles, and they were certainly fresh, but I just didn't think the dish had that much flavor. Worse though - the pan-fried green onion pancake. Yikes. It was dry, kind of hard, and had very little taste. I might go back, but I certainly won't hurry. read more

Overall, the food was good and it was pretty neat that you can watch the chefs pull their noodles by hand. I had high expectations for the soup dumplings but they were just ok. The broth was a bit too salty for me and I wish they were larger. I thought the winner here was the fresh noodles, which were perfectly soft/chewy and long! You have a choice between think or thick noodles and I would recommend the think ones for soup and the thick ones for the entrees. Oh the high reviews for Everyday Noodles.. I was super excited for some authentic Taiwanese food and some handmade noodles! I can see the hype around this place but after trying so many dishes, we really didn't get what the hype was about. We had to wait about 10 mins or so.. which wasn't bad for a Friday around lunchtime. The lady was super apologetic we had to wait and came by to apologize and tell us there were tables still paying/chatting - we appreciated it but we understood and it definitely wasn't their fault! She was so super nice! I enjoyed watching the guys make dumplings and noodles from the window while we sat and waited. We finally got a table and they took a few mins to grab our order. You get a piece of paper and mark the items based on how many of each dish you want. Super quick, super efficient! I can see how it could be difficult though if you weren't familiar with the dishes cause there were no pictures. *Xiao Long Bao aka Soup Dumplings - This was one of the dishes I was underwhelmed with. The skin was thick, the dumplings didn't contain very much soup, and the meat flavors were just ok - a bit salty and heavy on the ginger. The sauce was also vinegar or dumpling sauce - usually they give you sliced ginger and you pour vinegar or a sauce over it. 3/5 *Braised Beef and Tendon Noodle Soup - I did like the fresh noodles and the braised beef in this dish. The beef and tendon was tender and the flavors of the broth were spot on. 4/5 *Braised Minced Pork over Rice - This dish was as expected. Flavors were good. Rice and meat ratio was a bit off - too much rice, not enough meat. Enjoyed the egg as well! 4/5 *Hot Spicy Wonton Noodles - Pretty Spicy. came here during a work trip because a friend recommended this place. also it's right next to the bubble tea shop I wanted to go to after. dining alone is never great... especially if they seat you in between tables that are super busy LOL I ordered two xiao long baos because I knew I could kill it myself. waited 45 minutes and inhaled both in 10 minutes. delicious XLB, definitely not the bed, but it hit the spot for me. Our Pittsburgh friends showed us this place as one of their favorite spots! Very popular place at squirrel hill on a Sat night, we put in our name and waited for about 40 mins before getting seated. It's a small space so it can be pretty loud. Service was very nice - but the server messed up our order a few times (E.g. giving us wide instead of thin noodles as asked, gave wrong orders etc). They corrected all the mistakes patiently though. We enjoyed the soups dumplings and their spicy wanton noodles lots (I personally love the wide ones). Couldn't really add extra spicy level but still tasted delicious. The cold noodle with chicken was a little dry - disappointing because the flavor was very good, just not enough sauce. Quick and easy spot to get some noodles. Great location on Forbes Ave in Sq Hill. Lots of college students end up here with CMU and Pitt being close by. That can be a good or bad thing depending on your style. Definitely makes for a casual atmosphere. I went on a Friday around 7pm and had a 15 minute wait for a two-person table. The food is about what you'd expect for a cheap place that caters to students. We got the Dan Dan noodle bowl which had some heat for sure but otherwise was a bit bland. It technically had minced pork but that was relatively sparse. The baby bok choi plate has a lot of green on it but again very bland. Supposedly it had oyster sauce but I couldn't taste it. We were also very excited to try the green onion pancake but it fell flat. It was small and although the dough was nicely fried and crispy the inside was more air than green onion. Plus it took 20+ minutes to come out, so we were done with our other dishes even though it was supposed to be our appetizer. Not to be too hard on this place. At least it's cheap and conveniently located. But you can do better for food. read more

Everyday Noodles good but I wouldn't say it's a "must visit." If you're craving noodles or dumplings, it's a great place. The pork soup dumplings were a little disappointing. The soup was a little gamey from the pork and just didn't have that umami soup flavor. That said, the skin was really delicious and it's amazing to watch them make the dumplings and kind of mesmerizing to see an entire, beautiful tray of dumplings. You can ask for ginger and spicy oil which cuts out some of the gaminess. We also had the dan dan noodles. The noodles were quite good, they had that perfect chewy flavor. It was a little too creamy and peanut-y but overall good. The other food looked great, especially the scallion pancake beef roll. They also have a 5% cash discount. The restaurant was very busy around 1 pm on a Saturday but the line moved quite quickly and they were pretty empty by 2 pm. read more

Their food is delicious every time. This is a go-to spot when I'm in Pittsburgh. Their food is hearty, filling, and always the perfect combinations of flavors. They don't take reservations and the seating is not very large so arrive earlier so you can put your name down. My go-to selections are the beef braised noodle soup and the pork soup dumplings. The beef soup is savory, with tender pieces of beef and I get the wider noodles. Noodles are made freshly and if you're by the window into the kitchen you can see them being made. The pork soup dumplings are the best I've had in the city. Their bubble tea is also pretty good. You will leave feeling full but not bloated or uncomfortable everything is portioned well. I have found my Shangri-La... Since moving from Los Angeles to Pennsylvania 6 months ago I have been desperately searching for a good Chinese Dan Dan Noodle, and I have finally found it. Everyday Noodles was reviewed very favorably on Yelp so we decided to take a chance (I have been disappointed for Chinese food here in Pittsburgh so far) We found a table just before the heavy dinner rush and quickly I was whisked away to a far away dream where I am surrounded by the slap of fresh noodles being made. We ordered a bit of everything (How could we not, it all looked so good) We weren't settled into our seats for more than 5 minutes before the first dishes started arriving. First out were the spicy cucumbers and the braised beef tendons. The cucumbers were so crisp and covered in the most delicious chili oil I think I have ever had. The beef tendons (my absolute favorite) were cooked so perfectly, slow braised till each piece of tendon was so soft but still with that beautiful gummy bite I love so much. Out next were the pan fried dumplings and braised pork over rice. The dumplings were huge and so tender that they absolutely came apart after the first big bite. The braised pork was also very tender and fell apart at the slightest touch of a chopstick. The pork was braised in a lot of different Chinese spices (more than 5 I'm guessing) and the portion was very generous. As soon as we cleared the table of these dishes (I was eating as fast as I could) our last noodle dishes showed up and were presented like a beautiful gift from heaven. Cold sesame chicken noodles and my favorite Dan Dan noodles were up next. Both noodle dishes were absolutely perfect, the noodles had the most amazing chewy yet light textures that only hand pulled noodles can give you. The minced pork and chili sauce for the Dan Dan was the perfect pairing to the noodles just like the chicken and chili sauce was for the cold sesame noodles. Overall we had the most amazing meal I could have ever hoped for. The service was absolutely 5 star, we never had to wait for things we asked for like extra napkins or black vinegar. The prices were really good for the absolute high quality of each and every item, the portions were really generous and the restaurant was very nicely appointed. Just moved back to Pittsburgh after living in NYC for several years with dozens of great ramen places. So I have been in search of the next great Ramen place. I was very pleased with being seated immediately but they do recommend reservations for larger parties. The host was very friendly and helpful. The food was served within 15 minutes or less. The chicken soup was full of flavor but not oily like traditional chicken soup. The chicken literally fell off the bone. Perfect amount of rice noddle to broth ratio. To me, this chicken soup is a great cure for any seasonal cold. I did eat the entire bowl plus my appetizer of Beef. I was so satisfied after leaving. read more

A great spot for fresh, hand-pulled noodles! It can be a little loud when they bang the counter with the dough during the pulling process, but it's really interesting to watch. Apart from any of the dishes with noodles in them, my favorite thing to order are the soup dumplings and some bubble tea. read more

We decided to go to Pittsburgh for a friends bday getaway. We have friends who live in Pittsburgh and raves about this place. They did not disappoint. The place is small so you have to rsvp or come early. There's always a line out the door for this place. They make all their noodles fresh and 2 options of thickness noodles. The thinner noodles are not as chewy as the thick noodles. The soup dumplings are amazing! We ordered 5 trays and finished them all! The beef braised noodles was so flavorful and the thick chewy noodles just absorb the broth so beautifully. The braised beef was so tender and soft. I stopped in here during a visit to Pittsburgh. I am a sucker for fresh noodles and you don't get more fresh than someone banging out the noodles that will eventually end up on your plate right in front of you. Scared my poor niece every time they hit the large ropes of dough against the counter, she buried her head in my arm every time! (but I will take the cuddles when I can). Atmosphere aside, the dishes were authentic and delicious. They have a pretty extensive menu, but it's called "Everyday Noodles" so unless you are a regular, you are foolish not to choose a noodle dish. Seriously, skip the rice, go straight for the noodles!!! Food Suggestions: Dan Dan Noodles if you like spicy, Taiwanese Style Dan Tsu Noodles if you don't. Side of wonderfully steamed baby bok choy and if you are with a group, share some dim sum. I especially enjoyed the pork and vegetable potstickers. There were 4 of us, we ordered Crab & Minced Pork Soup Dumplings, Regular Pork Soup Dumplings, Marinated Beef Tendon, Five Spiced Egg-plant as appetizer. The soup dumplings were just okay, crab one none of us tasted any crab in it. The beef tendon was tender but very salty. Egg-plant was the best out of it. Each of us ordered a different noodle soup, portion of noodles was large. But each had very small amount of proteins, the broth was bland (consensus from everyone). The noodles had no flavor whatsoever. We all ended up asking for hot chilly sauce and soy sauce to add to our broth which just made it eatable. It's a cute little place. But if you are Asian and looking for decent food, don't come here. You will be disappointed. read more

We've heard a lot about this place since we moved to Pittsburgh about a year ago and FINALLY made it over this evening. Ordered take out over the phone and scheduled for pickup about an hour later. I got the Dan Dan noodles and my wife got the braised beef noodles. We also got the 3 sweet egg yolk buns. Unfortunately we were late for our pick up and our food was therefore a little cold. Not their fault, but it likely would have been better if we would have gotten it a little hotter. The braised beef was tender, juicy and flavorful and the Dan Dan noodles were a perfect al dente, seasoned to perfection. The sweet buns were delightful! I used to live in Hong Kong and would get those on occasion on the street and I've never been able to find something quite as good as the ones in Hong Kong. They are often too dry on the inside but these were the perfect consistency and tasted divine. read more

Does it live up to the hype and wait? No, no it doesn't. We came by around 7:45 on Saturday for dinner before catching a movie. There were several groups ahead of us, so it was a 25 minute wait. We weren't pressed, so we waited. I ordered a bubble tea while waiting. Keep in mind they ask for cash or debit for these small purchases. You get boba and two other toppings included in the price. We entertained ourselves by grabbing a menu and checking what we want. A good way to expedite the process. Also, note that it can get crowded and if it's a rainy night like when we went, the space can be tight. We were seated and were set to go. Seaweed with garlic to share, dan dan noodles (thin) for hubs, wonton noodle soup (wide) for me. The seaweed with garlic comes and we love the flavor. The balance of sesame oil and garlic was perfect. Our noodles arrived halfway ino the seaweed. I let mine cool off and continue with a couple more bites of seaweed. Now to the noodles. The wonton noodle soup was a huge disappointment. I'm a serious connoisseur of this of wonton noodle soup, it's a go to staple in my life. Here the broth was bland, very watery, the meat wasn't sitting in long enough for the stock to be flavorful. The noodles were too doughy. It wasn't well represented. The wontons did save it, which leads me to think stay with the dumplings. The dan dan noodles were not authentic. A peanut flavor was added so the spice wasn't there. It definitely was not what we expected. So, the saving graces where the seaweed with garlic and wontons. Those items might lure me back in, if in the area, but I won't go out of my way to return. read more

From pork belly with rice, pork bao bun, beef tendon, every dish tasted like excessive five spice. I didn't like anything I ordered, which were crab and pork soup dumplings, a braised beef dish. The dumplings, one of my dining companion's favorite foods, had very little flavor, and were just gummy and bland. The beef dish used an unfamiliar spice or spices which I didn't care for. I only ate part of my food. My friend ordered marinated cucumbers, which I liked, so I filled up on those and the rice from my beef dish. Service and ambience are fine. Solid spicy beef noodle soup at an affordable price. The soup was very flavorful with a hint of spiciness and the beef was super succulent and tender. I got the thin noodles which I thought complimented the broth very well. The only reason it wasn't 5 stars was the bowl just felt a little empty aside from the noodles and beef. I'd appreciate a bit more in terms of greens like bokchoy or some more green onions, but it was just a minor thing.
