In fact, he was ready to dive right in and provide a fix while I waited! Wanting to grab a bite to eat I told him I'd come back in an hour or so and he said it'd be no problem. When I returned he had not only fixed my flat but had also adjusted my "rake" (bike term for handle bars, I deduced). No that's service! This visit was a complete 180° from my last one. And on an on an on an on and on. And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on and on and on and on and on an on and on and on and on and on. It was a long time. I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. All doods working there when I was in. Way heavy on the dood vibe. Captive audience syndrome. Sigh. Dood has to do what a dood does. I avoid places like this. I found RLB cycleworks and picked them because of small size, local, and high reviews. I was presently surprised when greated by Taro. Super friendly and knowledgeable. I was afraid that my bike would need to be recycled. He assured me it was worth saving. Since not really riding for a few years, it was in bad shape. He said it was one of the American made trek bikes. Got an accurate estimate and took about 5 days to replace the broken part, get new tires, and a tune-up. Like having a brand new bike.

Previously my mom had bought a bicycle here but I had never visited the store. Since I was in the need of a new bike, since my original bike was accidentally donated, I figured this was a great place to start after my mom had such a good experience. Social distancing measures are still under affect so when I stopped by only four customers were allowed in at a time. While I did have to wait a bit to be helped it was worth it for the customer service. When I mentioned what I was looking for the employee (who I believe was one of the owners) was very knowledgeable and pointed me in the right direction. Of course it is best to test drive a bike just like a car so I rode around the parking lot for a couple of laps while he explained how to shift gears and shared other information about the bike. I ended up trying two the second being the one I ended up buying! It rode similar to the first but has that retro look which I was sort of looking for. Overall the experience was amazing and I will definitely stop by again especially because I want to try one of their protein shakes.

The owner had assured us everything was in order and ready to ride. When we took the bike out on the trails, my partner almost broke her neck on a downhill when the breaks suddenly gave out. We took it too a shop and found out that the wheels on the bike were not the original wheels and had been switched out. The rotors on the wheels were too small, leading it to quickly wear through the pads and suddenly stop working a couple hours into the ride. When we notified the owner, his response was "scary." Yes, incredibly scary. My partner could have died due to the owner 1) pulling a bait and switch and 2) not checking and ensuring the safety of the bike.

I was expecting more than just a worn rear tire replacement would be needed. They assured me it only needed to be cleaned, adjusted, trued, etc. I paid $130 for their tuneup, cleaning and tire replacement. I had a small issue with the brake pads rubbing a little but they fixed it right away. Great biz!
