We didn't take 35 to go to Austin from Dallas. We took a diffrent route this time so we got to stop by this small town. The food here is reasonably priced and taste good but not salty at all. I m a big eater , the portion here feeds me well. If you ever pass by this town and need to eat, this restaurant is the place to go. read more

Great food! What was upsetting to me was that they asked two different tables of two that were sitting at tables for four and had finished their meal, to move to smaller tables to accommodate two groups of four that had just come in. It was only about 5 or 10 minutes later that several other tables became available for the new arrivals. It was apparent that no one needed to be relocated. read more

Literally my favorite place on earth to eat. The BEST German food...EVER. The "works" schnitzel is the absolute best on the menu, but if you're craving a sandwich the Hawaiian is to die for. The cheesecake is always amazing, and always changing day to day. So worth the trip! read more

Made a quick trip to Lampasas to relive family history. When it was time for lunch, options were limited... a buffet at one end of the square and Eve's cafe at the other. I was SO glad we chose Eve's. Right off, the atmosphere won me over. It is uniquely decorated with flare that offers interesting topics for conversation. Eve (I assume it was Eve) was so friendly and made great recommendations. In the end I got the daily special, which was a pork stew with spaetzle... sooo delicious! Words will not do it justice, but it was so tender and flavorful. I loved every bite! If you find yourself in town, this really is your best dining option. I know I'll be back. read more

I cannot say enough good about Eve's. First, they made me the best Radler I have had in the USA. My husband had the ramm schnitzel and it was delicious. I had a bunch of sides: cucumber salad, kase spaetzle and potato salad. Every bit of it was so good but my favorite, BY FAR, was the potato salad. It was amazing!!! Very good schnitzel, best I've had since moving to Texas. I had the rohnschnitzel, kind of like a Chicken Cordon Bleu but made of pork instead. Loved it! The sauce was delicious and the pork was tender and juicy with a nice crisp breading on it. The fries were great! Little disappointed that they sold curry ketchup but wouldn't put it on the table, what's up with that? Waitress was very attentive. Also, I got an extra side of red cabbage and another of Sauer kraut. The red cabbage was excellent, the Sauer kraut was good but they fried or baked it or something and so it lost almost all of the juicy sourness I expected. The cakes and pies looked amazing but I was too full to try one today, so I look forward to going back and getting one next time. read more

I absolutely adored this place, and was lucky to come here while passing through a few months ago (I remember the name by heart, it's that good). I had a rahm snitzel (I loved the "rahm gravy" (cream mushroom sauce)- on top of the spatzle, it tasted like mushroom stroganoff! The spatzle wouldn't have been interesting otherwise), and it was all hearty, delicious, big portioned, and blew me away. My companions' dishes were just as good as they could have been with the rahm gravy. ;) I had a sort of double date, and the waiter immediately teased my friend's date by telling him no phones allowed on dates, and he was a wonderful warm welcome to this small town. There was a pamphlet on the table that outlined some key shops to check out in the area and general news/trivia to keep you busy. Cute. Items of cultural significance were hanging from the walls/ceiling- marionettes/puppets, some were a bit creepy, but I'll take it as giving the place "character" One star deducted because there wasn't running water in the bathroom- and you can deduce more from that, although they did manage to get water in some form to cook, obviously. We had hand sanitizer on us, but it's a huge nono that I wouldn't tolerate from any other place. I highly doubt that you live here, so chances are, you're not going to be in the location again, so please, please make the time to drive over. It's wonderful. I would absolutely go out of my way to come here again. Bonus: The day I went, outside the restaurant on the handicap ramp was an 80+ step hopscotch some stubborn person had drawn. 80+ STEPS! This place is a regular stop for us. The food is always great but the service is what sets it apart. From Eve on down, their awesome. We know them all by name. With that said, don't get too comfortable... I grew some facial hair and these goofballs start calling me Hulk Hogan. So it's only appropriate to stand up and yell "BROTHER!" right? Best cheesecake I've had in a while! Wonderful atmosphere!!! The owners were very attentive and made sure we are enjoying our meals!

The homemade bratwurst are incredible, the best I've had, served with sauerkraut, and German mustard are a must try! I substituted red cabbage for the fries and it was superb. To complete my meal I ordered their daily fresh made dessert, which happened to be 'cherry streusel with whipped cream'. Although I'm from San Antonio, I will definitely be back! read more

Driving thru from DFW to Boerne and found this cafe on Yelp, the reviews were spot on! Both the boyfriend and myself loved it. Yummy schnitzel and spatzle, I had "the works" with red cabbage(that reminded me of my grandmas). My boyfriend had the French sandwich and we shared! Both were amazing! Eve's, I've been there one time, and it was good, and I was very much looking forward to eating there again, on this day. So, while walking around at the, Corvettes on the Square, event this Saturday, in Lampasas, I decided to put my name in, for me and the 5 others that were there with me. So, I walk on over to Eve's, and as I'm pulling on the door, some guy in a T-shirt decides to push the door closed. So, I pull again, and he again pushes the door. So I say to this guy, "I'm just trying to get in, to put my name on the list", and he says, "I'm the guy", in a nasty tone. Turns out, he's the owner. WOW, what a jerk, I'm thinking. So, because I'm wearing a shirt that had some fireman stuff on it, he decides to call me, "Fire Chief", and that I'm on the list for a table for 6, as, "Fire Chief". So, with no list, and at the time, it was a 1.5 hour wait, this guy thinks he's going to keep track of where I am on the, "list", and how many people are with me, along with everyone else on the, "list". So, I leave to look at more Vettes. After looking at Vettes for an hour or so, my buddy goes to see where, "Fire Chief", is on the list, and Mr. Eve's owner, says, "Still an hour and a half". So, just what I figured, this guy is a total jerk. I decide I'm not eating there today, and I'm never eating there again. I believe in principle, and one thing I don't do, is give my money to jerks, whose businesses are so successful, they think they can treat people any way they want to. So, Mr. Eve's owner, you lost out on 6 people eating there, and me and my family, for a lifetime. I was told later, that the guy was probably already hitting the sauce, if you know what I mean. That would make sense, because he was acting like a belligerent beephole. Seriously, what kind of a person pushes on a door that another guy is trying to open? read more

We had absolutely no idea this gem was in Lampasas! I am not joking when I say this was by far one of the best meals I've ever had in my life!!! (Sorry mom). We walked into the diner after being told by a local that Eve's is "the best there is". I figured, ok but this is a small town and I'm a stranger passing through...we'll see. Boy did I sit, (and eat, and eat, and eat), corrected. The Reuben is top quality. Perfectly toasted, buttered bread. Great flavored pastrami fried to perfection but NOT dry. The sauerkraut was fresh and crisp. Lots of melty swiss cheesy goodness, and there are no words for the sauce. My son and his grandfather ordered schnitzel. I figured it would be heavily breaded and greasy. Again WRONG. so flavorful. Perfect amount of breading. NOT greasy, and amazing flavor. The meat was juicy and not chewy at all. Melt in your mouth good. I don't know what magic they use on the fries and gravy, but I was sold. Finger. Licking. Good. The schnitzel with ham and cheese had an egg added by my dad, with a side of noodles, a salad, and this awesome cooked purple cabbage. Even the iced tea with the slice of orange and lime was great!! We waddled out of there with happy, but not hurting, stomachs; complete with a cute pink pastry box of coconut cheesecake AND a mountain size piece of Nutella cream cake. Both addictive as expected by this point. ALL of the staff was extremely friendly, not annoying, attentive, helpful, and created an inviting family-like atmosphere. Love, love, LOVE Eve's Cafe! There being a dearth of really good restaurants in much of Central Texas, I was quite pleased to have a nice meal at Eva's. The food was very good and the cafe comfortable. My server was young and fairly lacking experience but making an effort nonetheless. This is a good restaurant and a solid 4. I'll be coming back. read more

Wow! What a gem! Quick stop in for lunch on a weekend road trip and much to my surprise is some of the best food I've ever put in my mouth!! I had the jaeger schnitzel with spaetzle and a house salad. The house dressing was so tasty and I completely cleared my plate! Good value for the food you get and nothing better than the small town feel. If I'm ever anywhere near Eve's again I will be stopping back by and bringing friends! We were stationed in Germany. This is real authentic German food. Service was excellent, we sat outside, the owner's husband was very friendly and the waitress was helpful, quick service too. Get the jäger schnitzel with all the sauces. And an absolute must the expresso cheesecake and chocolate pie. Great location, easy parking. read more
