Some of the most flavorless Thai food I've ever had. Not just low spice, because we ordered spicy food, but also just bland. Thai food at its best is vibrant and flavorful, and this was the farthest from that. I'm honestly stunned this place got such good reviews. And the service was awful. The first round of food came and we waited more than 20 minutes for the second round. The third round came out quicker after that, but it still wasn't great. The server didn't stop by and explain why there was such a delay and didn't apologize for such a long wait. When half the table is eating and the other half has to wait around a half hour to eat, it really is a terrible experience. I also had to go up to the counter to request a check and had to go to the counter again to pay, otherwise we might still be waiting for them to figure it out. And charging an 18% "service fee" for a party of six, when you provide such poor service, is incredibly disrespectful. It's no wonder we were ignored, because the server knew she was going to get 18% regardless. read more

I got a kid going to school at Cal Poly Humboldt. because there aren't any direct flights from anywhere close by there to anywhere close by here, sometimes we gotta drive to Burbank and pick him up. here's a surprise: when you dealing with teenage boys, they're always hungry, and Thai is a popular choice for eats before our two plus hour drive home. we eat family style and get enough to share. the boy usually starts with the BANGKOK GARDEN ROLL (spinach, mixed lettuces, cucumbers, carrots, basil, tofu and thin rice noodles wrapped in soft rice paper). I think of this as more Vietnamese than Thai but still a crowd pleaser. my personal favorite is the PAPAYA SALAD (shredded green papaya, tomatoes, green beans and garlic with Thai spicy lime sauce). the fresh flavors of this dish are always on point. the THAI FRIED RICE with chicken, eggs, onions, tomatoes, and scallions is another crowd pleaser. good, stick-to-your-ribs eats for the drive home. highly recommended. read more

It's a shame that I will never set foot in this place again. The food is excellent, but I have now been here three times and two of the three times I had horrible service. Specifically a woman named Sara. She does not belong in food service or service at all. This woman ruined my entire dining experience and I left before my entrée even arrived. She is a brat, and something as simple as asking for sauce I had previously been served with for an appetizer set this girl off. I understand that people have to take jobs that are available to them, but please don't stay in something you're miserable doing if you are going to make everyone around you miserable too. Visited around 8:45 on a Monday night and found a few tables taken, but mostly empty. Lots of parking options in the lot and free street parking. I ordered the cucumber salad and was pleasantly surprised to discover the fresh slices of cucumber were in a slightly sweet vinegar sauce. Delicious! I also got the Pad Woon Sen, which came out relatively quickly within 10 minutes. Chicken was well cooked, not dry at all, as well as the vegetables, which were cooked, yet crisp, and not soggy. The glass noodles were perfectly tender and I enjoyed the slightly sweet and fragrant brown sauce. However, the tomatoes were underripe and rather mealy. The mushrooms seemed to be from a can, so not much flavor, yet the texture wasn't as slimy as to be expected. The white onions weren't all cooked evenly, so a few bites were spicy in the nose. I love that they served everything on reusable dishware. The red dominant decorations give the place a cute small business feel in the best way, with traditional Thai outfits on display, Thailand tourism posters on the wall and colorful flowers and lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Nothing amazing, but everything good. The service was rushed but friendly. This is a popular spot, so I think they like to turn over tables as quickly as they can. I get it, the product is solid. And just like that, my 4 stars is up to 5! My mom, sister and I really love Thai food so we usually get the same things more or less. The star of the show was definitely the tom yum which we ordered by accident. However, everything tasted incredible. The green curry was delicious, pad kee mao was great too (definitely liked the beef a LOT). I have no notes. I only wish I had more room so I could eat more! We loved the flavors and food. We had a monthly special called Khao Soi- a coconut curry noodle chicken soup with crispy noodles that was out of this world scrumptious. We also ate the fried tilapia with sweet basil leaves in a special chili garlic sauce on the side and vegetables. It was crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside and tasted amazing. Stopped in on a whim while in the area because I was craving Thai, and got the crispy sole filet, chicken satay, papaya salad, and khao soi. I ordered the papaya salad spicy and to my surprise, it was actually Thai spicy and not American spicy. I usually have to ask for extra chili on the side, but it was perfectly spicy for my liking. The crispy sole filet is dangerous. It's pretty big and probably meant to be shared, but somehow I ended up finishing it because it was so good. Oops! It's soooo crispy and I love the fried basil on top. The fish is so flaky and soft. The khao soi broth was delicious and the chicken in it was so tender. This is my go-to place for Thai food! My partner and I live very close to Exotic Thai Cuisine, like walking distance proximity. So, whenever we are craving Thai food, it is very convenient for us to just walk down and pick up our order. We haven't dined inside before since we live nearby. Instead, I place our order through their main website and after submitting payment, our food is already good to go within 20 minutes. I usually get their extra spicy red curry with chicken, and my partner enjoys their Pad Thai or fried rice. Although the food is good, they are a bit stingy with the rice portions and providing napkins and utensils with our to-go orders. I'm not sure why, but that is the reason I am taking away one star. I asked for Thai tea and they told me one price and then I said no ice and they gave me almost a dollar more and I said Why are you charging me more for no ice and she said because you're getting more tea well, nobody ever tells you that they usually take out the ice and give you less. She took out the ice and filled it to the top that all by itself, pleased me, and then one time I ordered the combination And I felt like my chicken was dry again the honesty she told me chicken can sit out longer, kind of premade but the beef they have to make fresh because it can't just sit out. Was very excited to try this spot with a friend who lives close by. Called for a ressie on a Friday evening and was told it wasn't needed by a very nice person which furthered the excitement. We were seated quickly but waited at least 8-10 mins to be asked if we wanted something to drink. Waited even longer to be asked for orders. We went family style on soup, spring rolls w added shrimp for an upcharge which were told about, pad Thai, peanut sauce...the soup we ordered mild+ and it nearly took our tongues off, so they don't mess around. If you are a wuss like me, order mild mild and add your own spice. The spring rolls were essentially just lettuce, with shrimp in some not all. We were incredibly disappointed in the flavor as well as the price for again, almost all lettuce. It was around $15! The pad Thai was delicious. We got the combo w beef, chicken and shrimp and again, very little protein was provided. For the price, we just kept saying how little protein there was - it was rather shocking. After waiting ages for more water and having to ask a couple times for lemon, and for the spice on side and peanut sauces we had ordered in the beginning, we finally had all our food. It was shortly after that the owner/server asked if we wanted anything else bc they were closing. There were still 2 other tables eating, one that had just received food. We said we both wanted an order of mango sticky rice. She seemed irritated and said "will that be to go?" Which we both interpreted as "you're not welcome to stay here- if you want it, you have to leave bc we want to close". Again, paying around $15 each or something kind of insane for this, I'd like to eat it fresh. It was not yet closing time by hours and tables were still eating. But my friend being kinder than I said sure to taking to go. When I say it was not worth it! I mean, it got so clumpy and just lost any quality you'd have fresh by taking it to go and letting it get all room temp. The sauce was not flavorful either. We each paid about $60 for this VERY mediocre meal with less than mediocre service. We were not told the peanut sauce was an upcharge until we saw it on the bill, which I feel is a major problem with a restaurant's service. Having been to Thailand an to many other thai spots in LA, I felt like EXOTIC THAI was highway robbery. In any case, thanks but no thanks.
