The setup is kind of like Chipotle where you build your own bowl. You pick your base, protein, veggies, side, and sauce. I ended up getting the orange chicken with rice and chow mein. I thought the orange chicken was really good. It doesn't really remind me of Panda Express orange chicken, which isn't a bad thing at all. It tasted like their own version of it, and I liked it. The portion was also pretty good and I thought the price was reasonable for what I got. It wasn't very crowded when we stopped by either, so ordering was pretty easy. The easiest way to describe Tiga Wok is Chipotle meets Panda Express. You build your own bowl with your choice of base, protein, and toppings, but everything is cooked fresh in a wok. You can also order things à la carte. It wasn't very busy when we stopped by, and we had to mention that it was our first time so they could explain how everything worked. The girl helping us was really nice even though it looked like she was the only one working. For the price, you actually get a lot of food. I liked watching everything get cooked fresh in the wok, although I wish some of the ingredients sitting on the line had been a little fresher. I hadn't been to Tigawok in a couple of months and just visited yesterday and was sad to see that they have changed their menu. They do a build your own bowl type of thing now, just like Panda Express or any other fast food Chinese restaurant. They took away everything I loved about them, which was having a large variety of options that you could get mini bowls of. You can still get mini bowls but the prices went way up and the selection is not even half of what it used to be. Also, the food is pretty terrible now. At least the orange chicken was. It was extremely dry and burnt and tasted like it was made a week ago and reheated in a microwave. Sadly, will not be returning here. Seems like they have ruined themselves and won't last long here. I've been to TigaWok a few times, and what made me fall in love with it was the original concept. You could choose several small dishes served in cute little containers, which made it easy to try different flavors at a very affordable price. My favorite was always the tomato and egg dish, so I came back craving it, only to find out it's no longer on the menu. It looks like TigaWok has shifted to a build-your-own bowl concept. You start by choosing a base (jasmine rice, chow mein, half or all greens, purple rice, or egg fried rice), then a protein, a veggie, and a side. They also offer complimentary sauces, and I really enjoyed the ginger scallion sauce. It added great flavor to my bowl. My only issue was that the menu wasn't very clear about what qualifies as a "veggie" versus a "side." I chose roasted pumpkin (squash) as my vegetable and spicy cucumber as my side, but I was still charged extra, which was confusing. I wish the menu explained the categories better or simply combined the vegetable and side into one selection since they're all vegetable-based dishes. It would make the ordering process much more customer-friendly and avoid surprises at checkout. I also ordered the braised pork belly, which used to be one of my favorites. Before, it came in tender, bite-sized pieces. This time, the pork was cut into larger chunks with a lot of fat, and unfortunately, the meat was dry. I understand that businesses evolve, and the staff explained that the new concept caters to their customer demographics. I appreciate that they're offering more vegan-friendly options while still keeping pork, beef, chicken, and shrimp on the menu. However, I miss the old concept that made TigaWok stand out. I hope they'll consider bringing back some of the original favorites and making the ordering process a little clearer. It is very nice. It's similar to panda express but so much better. I really love the red braised pork belly, that was very tender, fatty and delicious. The peppered chicken was very tasty as well. They have different varieties of dishes to choose from that are really delicious and fresh and fresh. They also offer pickled radish, and chili sauce. The best part was the utensils and containers they provided. It's really cool and high-quality covers and lids. Everything was available at a self-service counter.. If you had leftovers, you could easily pack them up yourself without having to go to the front again to ask for a to-go box. Such a convenient and a unique idea. This is by far one of my children's favorite place to eat. Anytime we are even close to the area, they expect us to stop at Tigawok. I don't mind, because they happily gobble up the broccoli that they have here. It really is so good. I have noticed that some of the cute things that they had when they first opened are not there anymore. For example, there are no more men, no more lossing stick, and they use paper bags instead of the cute branded bags. I really like the option of a mini bowl. Sometimes, I don't have the appetite to eat a full meal, and I don't want to waste food either. Other times, I just want to try new food. The total order came to only $31.00 Overall, the food was fine, but I was most impressed by the packaging. No complaints about the food. I also tried the teas, I like that they were not too sweet. For service, staff who helped me were very nice and friendly. Nice alternative to Panda Express - similar pricing but smaller portions and tastes healthier/lighter. Affordable and good value food, especially when everything is so expensive nowadays. Out of everything we got, the chow mein was the best. Noodles were bouncy and absorbed a lot of flavor from the different ingredients. Some of the orange chicken pieces were a bit hard, but taste and texture wise I think I much prefer Panda's. I enjoyed the mapo tofu, but felt like the wagyu pieces were fried almost like bacon bits and so I don't think they did much for the tofu. I did like the flavor from the chili oil and how soft the tofu was. They tend to make not very large batches that we had to wait a bit for more chow mein and mapo tofu to come out, but luckily it didn't take that long. I stopped by here to grab lunch today since I was in the area. I been here already for a Yelp Elite Experience so I was already familiar with what they had. So I went with the chow Mein, orange chicken and human spicy beef which I didn't try before. I got their kung Pao chicken instead and that tasted more like chicken basil that my mom makes at home. When I came today, they were a little busy after lunch but it was because there were guest waiting for items that they had to make. Keep in mind that this place is card only, someone tried to pay with cash but the cashier told her that they only takes cards. They give you a good portion of food in their microwave safe and reusable container. The chow Mein was still delicious especially when you add Sriracha to it which they don't have here. The spicy beef was pretty good and I would order that again. The orange chicken is also good but I would get double spicy beef instead next time. I felt rushed and felt like I was dumb because I asked to get a kung pao combo, thinking there was one, but apparently they only have 3 combos to choose from, so any other entree is a la carte. She did not explain that, but that way I figured that out on my own after she looked at me like I was dumb for asking for that combo. Things didn't get better, as the soda machine did not have any fizz to it, so any soda you got was stale and tasted as flat as soda could taste. Settled for sad raspberry iced tea. The chicken itself was not the greatest either; it tasted too soft and chewy with hard-to-chew areas and tasted like it had been sitting there under the lamp for some time. You can try your luck at street parking, however, it will cost you or you can just park in the free parking structure! First off, the service is awesome. Friendly smiles all around. The concept is great. You can pick items and they tell you the cost of everything up front. You are able to try the items before too. I ended up ordering rice with pork sauce, chow mein, cola chicken, and eggplant with string beans. The rice and chow mein dish were good but the other main dishes I got were okay. I don't think I would get them again. There was nothing that I ordered that I really enjoyed or wanted to eat more of. They do have a rotating menu so maybe there will be something you will like.
