The items looked amazing and I would be confident bringing them to a party or get together with friends. They are beautifully made. I came on a weekday right before their 3pm closing time. The canasta had a delicious blueberry jam and three fresh blueberries. I liked how it was filling and not overly sweet. I didn't care for the breading as much because it was very doughy - but as it is from a dense concha base, it was expected but still a surprise. It definitely feels more like a roll than an airy concha. I didn't mark off stars because it was good but not my preference. The conchas were dense and tasted good. One can easily be a breakfast item because it's quite filling. Some have flavors inserted inside and others are plain with no filling. They offered complementary drip coffee from Katz brewing with my purchase. It might have been a day special or the time of day, that I am unsure. Inside is very cute and suitable to meet up with friends or a get together. 2-4 chairs per table and they are set apart. The ambience and bright and open.

We absolutely loved the Parisian cafe theme, with cute Eiffel Tower decorations all around :) ! We tried the artistic - looking peach dessert with fruity filling on the inside :) ! As well as the matcha baklava that was very unique and delicious ;) ! The coffee choices are very rich and flavorful, and not too sweet or bitter :) ! Interestingly, there is also gelato as well in this Parisian - themed cafe :D ! How perfect is it to pair gelato and coffee choices together for a relaxing afternoon ;) ? Although I might be slightly biased as this was my first time trying those mousse fruit desserts, we shared the mango, blackberry, and strawberry mousse. They are wonderful. We debated on whether or not the mango could have been less sweet, but in terms of how the chocolate shell on the outside complimented the mousse, it was hard to conclude. Sure, it is pricier, but if there was anything to pick on, it would be the fact that it is a bit far from San Antonio and that maybe some more specials specifically with the desserts could be done. Although it's cheap suggestion, I would not mind paying $25 for 3 mousse desserts. The service was welcoming and friendly. I asked about their coffee, asked about if the Honeycomb tasted better iced or hot - I didn't regret my decision nor one of the lady's suggestion. Cozy ambiance, and definitely more modern... A great place to work, and with owners that are open to feedback. This was evidenced by the stands on the table that encouraged customers to review their drinks and pastries. I wouldn't know anything about if they look at them, but do try their place regardless. Let's hope they do.

An update 8 years later…read more.. My quest to try and rate every cortado in the city continues... I picked Panaderia Jimenez by chance because I was looking for something not too far from where I live. Since it's been a little more than a minute since my 1st visit, I decided to see how they've changed in almost a decade. First of all, I adore how they serve the coffee in the traditional Mexican cups that resemble pitchers. I ordered a cortado (with cinnamon and honey) and a Snickers latte. For breakfast I had the jalapeño cheese kolache, and I took some pan dulce home for later (a Mexican wedding cookie, a blueberry empanada, and a mini pink concha). The cortado was lovely, if a wee bit foamy for my liking. The added cinnamon and honey made it very cozy and palatable. The snickers latte was excellent. The kolache's breading was a little thin, and very buttery and flakey, but the sausage was the star. Each bite was snappy and flavorful. I've yet to try the pan dulce, but I'm sure by the way they smell that they're fantastic. Panadería Jimenez reminds me of merienda on Sundays with my family back in Brownsville. Nostalgic, comforting, and familial.
