My recent appointment with Dr. Lindsay Eisenberg was efficient; however, during the exam, the doctor used her fingers to demonstrate slanted eyes while discussing dry eye and made a comment about Botox in relation to this. This gesture and remark were racially insensitive and have no place in patient care, as comments and gestures of this nature affect whether patients feel safe seeking care. At the follow-up visit, my contacts were switched to another brand, and the office staff managed the switch for me. Prior to my appointment, I asked that they obtain a trial pair of colored contact lenses, and they agreed with no problem. I've been wearing glasses since I was 14 and contacts since 18. My previous optometrist retired and I struggled to find a new doctor. I'm glad that I found Dr. Brillante.

I went to DHEC to purchase my first pair of progressive glasses. The staff that helped were…read morewonderful and helped me to pick out frames. However, the 7 day return policy is not flexible enough. When it comes to progressives, you need a few days to adjust to them. If there's a problem, one needs time to return to the store, find out that the prescription might be wrong, reschedule another ophthalmologist appt, and then return again with a new prescription. For people who work, it is not possible to miss so much work--or get another doctor's appointment so quickly--and return to fix the glasses. I spent a few hundred dollars for unwearable glasses because I work full-time and could not get back into the store with a new prescription within 7 days. I had to wait another year before I could address this due to insurance coverage. I recommend DHEC for standard glasses and the outstanding staff, but if you need progressives that might need some adjustments over time, you might want to consider a place with a more lenient policy.

I said that's fine I'd like to purchase my contacts at which point I was told I don't think that's a good idea with out seeing the doctor. I told the lady that I was suppose to see him today and was never told to come prior to a time other than what is listed on the door for operating hours. She that's ok you can come back tomorrow; I replied with I took an hour off of work and drove 30 minutes to be here and she said I u destined would you like for me to set up a time to see the doctor tomorrow. I said no please transfer my prescription and she said she wouldn't do that until my evaluation is complete (even though the doctor said I could purchase them after he saw me a week earlier). I asked if I have paid in full and she said yes, I said then why did you charge me if the eval is not complete and she said this just how we do it. I said I have to work to pay for doctors and eye insurance and that I can't come back up here again so please issue me a refund. She issued me $55.25, and never told my why I wasn't given the full amount.
