I had a technician from the North Coast County Water District to come for an audit to help find the water leak-he mentioned where the leak wasn't coming from and that I needed a professional leak company to help me find where it was. I mentioned that to Jorge and Will, and they actually ended up founding the leak where the auditor disregarded it! I was impressed by the amount of time they spent isolating every single area of my house, both indoors and outdoors. I've used Works several times over the years. They have always done quality work at a fair price with guaranteed good service. I want to point out their technician, Marlon. He has always been great. But this week the company failed massively. And I point to the obvious incompetence and inexperience of their scheduler, who doesn't understand how to deal with customers. They first set an appointment for noon-4pm yesterday, I rescheduled my day so I could be home. At 3:45pm the scheduler called to inform me they needed to reschedule. Fine. These things happen. Once is understandable. We rescheduled for the next morning, 10-12 window. Marlon did show up at that time, but could only do an evaluation. He said he needed to get parts and would be back at 2pm. Ok, first my morning business was disrupted and now my afternoon. Fine. I get it. But then the scheduler called at 1:30pm to inform me Marlon couldn't be back at that time. They wanted to change again to later, but I couldn't make that change. I had already informed them of my windows of availability. And then she couldn't give me a time that would work the next day!! Plus, she tried to see if they could come earlier, but I explained I have guests on holiday and didn't want to disturb them early. It was as if she couldn't hear the words I was speaking. Or that l was speaking some foreign language. I wasn't being heard is the point. So then I was angry. And instead of finding a solution, she just repeated platitude that were plainly pat answers. Like she understood my plight! If she did, SHE would find a solution that rewards ME of my pain and patience. It was a horrible customer experience due to her inability to understand how to work with the public. The problem was that SHE called to reschedule multiple times. Unacceptable in how she works a public facing job. So unfortunately, I will NEVER use Works again. I've moved to Mulgrew. read more

At my rental property in SF, our tenant noticed some leaking underneath the kitchen sink. I did the Yelp Project thing, and Works was the most responsive so I went with them to come next day, which was Christmas Eve at the time, so I acknowledge getting them out on 12/24 when other companies might be backed up or closed. They also sent me a text with the name and headshot of the technician coming, which I thought was a good customer service touch. They had a $69 inspection fee and the fee was waived when they ended up doing repairs. They assessed the leak was coming from of the connections to those sinks that have the pull-out nozzles (I don't know what you call them). The technician said other than that that the sink looked in overall good shape, and the price they mentioned didn't seem outrageous. I approved the repair and they got it done in a couple hours. No complaints from our tenants since the work was done. read more

My toilet tank was not filling up properly and my bathroom was beginning to smell like a urinal and would not flush. I contacted Works Plumbing to fix the issue after my regular plumber was at my house for a different issue and was unable to fix it immediately. He looked at it and said I did not need to replace the entire toilet, just the equipment inside the tank. Works Plumbing came and immediately tried to get me to buy a new toilet, and I said I only wanted the tank issue addressed, that I was told I did not need I new toilet. After repeatively offering me three options, all leading to me purchasing a new toilet. He finally said he knew what the problem was and then had me sign a contractual agreement that warranted the service and labor for thirty days. He replaced only one of the apparatus and not the one that was responsible for the water staying in the tank. After two days the same problem occurred. (My plumber later told me that he always replaces the entire system and that the parts cost less than $20.00). Another technician from Works came yesterday and said he recommend getting a new toilet because replacing the washers (that they were old and difficult to find) under the tank that they would eventually leak, and he offered a partial refund towards a new toilet for approximately $900.00, (toilet and labor) not including the $425.00 I had already spent. I was no longer feeling comfortable with this company, and I then talked to my regular plumber and he said that is not his experience with washers and he came and fixed it today in less than thirty minutes. One of the reasons I selected them was that they advertise that they are accredited by BBB (Better Business Bureau) I later discoved that, that is not true. When I asked for their license #, the person on the phone neglected to give it to be. She was extremely rude, talked over me, said a manager was not available and refused to honor their warranty. I found out that they have two licenses?, when I checked one is listed to Rotor Rooter. I also read a review by another client who eerily had a very similar experience that I had. We had an issue with our toilet that would flush but then the water would come back into the toilet bowl and it kept coming to almost the top of the bowl but was able to be stopped before over flowing. Called Works Plumbing and the office Mgr was able to find a tech that just completed a job to come right over. Dominic came and had shoe covers on without me asking. He first checked the toilet to see what the issue was and then explained what he was checking for to make sure it was just the toilet and not the pipes. After using their mechanical plumbing snake with a camera monitor Omar pointed out in couple of places where roots were the problem in several places. Using their specialized pipe cutting tool the roots were quickly shredded out and hydro blasted completely clear to the Daly City main sewer line. So we originally had a reoccurring clogged toilet problem. Someone from this company came and fixed it. Unfortunately the clog happened again a few days later and I knew the problem unfortunately was mostly further down the drain. Tracy suggested we clear out the sewage pipe. Turns out we had a HUGE clog on the sewage line (about over 40 years worth of...ummm "sewage"!!!) so very thankful we took this option. After that was done, we asked him to stay to watch the toilet flush to make sure things are working right. It was still slow but it flushed a lot faster than before they came, so Ever (who came with Tracy) took the auger to our toilet and after a few minutes the toilet was flushing back to its glory again! We'll see if this toilet problem will come back again but so far we are very please with the work and their tenacity to make things work with me. (I'm the tougher customer.) They will have me as a customer for a new dishwasher and garbage disposal next!!! read more

I'll start by saying I'm surprised this company has anything short of 5 stars. Maybe you just didn't have the pleasure of working with Travis? The response on Yelp was extremely quick and I was able to get a same day appointment. Travis was on time and arrived towards the beginning of the allotted time window. He had me sign the paperwork authorizing him to enter my house and the documentation stating the estimate was free. Did I already mention that the estimate was free? Travis came in, looked at what was wrong and explained the process to fix it. He made sure to explain all options available along with prices for each fix. Once he took apart the leaking shower fixtures, he showed me what was wrong and why it was leaking (and pointed out exactly what the previous plumber did wrong). Travis was perfectly personable and exchanged pleasantries without just hanging out and talking. Very dishonest company and practices!!!! Stay away!!! My son made an appointmert with Javier C., he was charged $69 for an estimation of the work (shower bar installation) which never took place since the technician forgot to bring with him his stud finders, a critical piece of equipment. As such, there was no way to evaluate where the bars should be placed, how high/low, how far apart, what size, 1 or 1 bars, what distance .......etc. We asked for a refund but they refused. I feel my son was taken advantage of because of his young age and inexperience, when he was trying to help me while I had a medical emergency. In the end, the work was completed by professionals who did not charge a $69 fee and who billed me only $300 to install 2 shower bars and NOT $2,400 they were asking for. It seems that this company has a lot of very negative reviews, they may want to rethink their business practices and outrageous prices read more
