Hugely popular bar/restaurant in anchorage. Normally an older age group, except for fri/sat night when the college crowd is out or just the regulars. It is a small place and you have to wait for a seat, but there's no clear line of who was there first, and more on an honor system (or at least try to). The food is wonderful, but come early for no wait, or short wait. Anything between 620-730 you'll normally have to wait. The garlic scallops/shrimp is my go to and amazing. If you sit at the bar, the cooks are great conversationalist and just seem to really enjoy their job. Depending on the night, the waitress will be decent at her job. First time at this spot. Ordered the calamari and an AK size order of the halibut and chips. The jalapeño tarter sauce and regular tarter sauces are both great. The calamari had a light crisp and wasn't chewy like you sometimes encounter. It was really good but not quite as good as the calamari from Sullivan's or Basil Gingers. Huge portion though. The halibut was lightly breaded and tasty. The bite size portions were moist and delicious when married to the house tarter sauce. Honestly, I wanna leave a bad review so that people don't go here because it is so amazing and I don't want it to be packed every time I go. The Texas size halibut, fish and chips were incredibly light not greasy so delicious and that's the smaller portion, and it was more than enough. The steamer clams were seemed in a jalapeño garlic butter broth that was to die for. If you're looking for the best fish and chips in Anchorage, that is where I would go. My second time here so I thought I'd give it my review. A small little bar/ restaurant downtown Anchorage, seems a little touristy but mainly the usual crowd kind of spot. I'd heard about this place from a few folks that said it was good. My thoughts, it's just "meh". Today we can for lunch and saw an overwhelmed waitress/bartender attempting to serve the bar area. She was struggling needless to say. I ordered the NY Steak burger with fries and a sprite. She ordered the Chicken Pasta Salad. After a moderate long wait the good finally comes out, by burger had no taste, the meat wasn't seasoned at all. Just bland, all I tasted was the condiments. The fries were hand cut and pretty good. The waitress refilled by sprite with water so there's that. She said her chicken and pasta were pretty good. My first visit was the same experience, meager service and food from an overwhelmed staff. I expected good food with a smaller menu, generally the case when a spot focuses on fewer things, not the case here. Plenty of opportunity but they definitely missed opportunity and mark. read more

Fantastic local hot spot in the heart of downtown Anchorage. Although I'm Alaska born and raised, today was my first dining experience at F Street Station. Despite all connecting roads being shut down to prepare for Fur Rondy, it was still packed at our 11:30am arrival. We hung around for 15min 'till a window table became available. Our server was welcoming and attentive. We got great service. My girlfriend and I both started with the French onion soup-in-cup. Generous portions, super flavorful and well seasoned. The melted cheese on top was divine. For my entree, I got the blackened chicken pasta salad. Wowzers! There was literal pasta in the salad. The blackened chicken was well cooked and spicy, their Caesar dressing is the best. My girlfriend got a delicious looking sand-which and ordered F Streets famous calamari to-go. We had a few bites. Delicious calamari. Perfect texture, spice, and dipping sauce. Oh and if you were wondering kids are allowed 'cause I seen 'em. The only con of this entire place (besides how packed it always is), is their lack of local taps. Their food will always be what people come back for, I totally get It. If I could give this place a -10 I would, Me and my husband walked in to have a drink and we're treated in the most obnoxious and NASTY way by a female employee, I had my two service dogs ‍ with me , ready to see someone to accommodate us, I placed my dog under the bar and my other dog was next to my husband , she uninvitingly took the leash off the hook and said ..." NOOOO, ah no!!! we serve food here, I bet you they are not even service dogs" I took a moment and walked away, let my husband take the dogs to the car, and came back to speak to this nasty, mean individual, she can't be called a server cause she serves nothing but hate and disgust. First time to Alaska- recommended by a friend to try beer battered halibut. OMG had never had halibut before and this was fantastic. It's basic and rustic. I love this place! I've been a few times. I wish I had taken photos. I ordered the Caesar salad (house specialty) with grilled halibut. The halibut was so tender and delicious and not like anything I can get in Florida where I live. The Caesar, and I'm a Caesar connoisseur, was so delicious. Perfectly made dressing. I would get this every time. So with my meal, a beer, a glass of Chardonnay, and an old fashioned, my bill was only $47 tip not included. I was told this place is a great place to hang out and have a beer. That is NOT the case. We were there to get brunch and hang out. We had a senior waitress as our server. She was very grumpy and didn't want to server us, (she grabbed everyone else's orders around us but us) After grabbing her attention, she finally took our oder but she was very mad. At the end, she threw the bill out on the table and left. Just an observation. People sitting next to us saw the whole deal and said that they hope it's nothing other than this waitress having a bad day. We think that she didn't like us cause of our darker skin color. F Street Station First arrived just after 8pm to no seats. After waiting for 20 minutes, my party wanted to leave. I decided to return around 930pm alone and found a seat next to the cooking station. I am so glad I did! First of all, I love the atmosphere, with the various airline and pilot stickers and photos. I'm not a fan of counter height tables, as I have short legs and like them to be on the ground, not dangling. It's also a shame they don't have more seating, especially outside, as it was so nice out. Secondly, my server, Kristina, was so friendly and accommodating. As busy as she was, she made sure to not make me feel rushed. She answered questions with a smile and made recommendations. I loved watching the chefs cook the meals. They were friendly and hard working and enjoyed bantering with one another and the clients. Brian was especially nice and efficient. When I asked to try the jalapeno sauce for my halibut, he asked if I would also like some blue cheese for my fries. I absolutely love this, and do it at home, so I was quite pleased. The quality of the sauces was so exceptional that I had to ask Brian if they made them all from scratch at the restaurant. I was told yes. The quality of the food was phenomenal. The fish was cooked perfectly, as were the fries. The beer was cold, too. I had the Texas sized halibut dinner with fries (half sized), which was perfect, and 2 beers for a grand total of $24 before tips. While a bit more than usual for fish and chips, I would return time and again for this meal. Kudos to my friend for making this recommendation. read more

Ordered the halibut sandwich and the halibut was a LOT larger than the bun. WOW was it soft and moist. Just lightly battered. My wife had the cheeseburger and she loved it. Cooked to perfection. And the fresh cut fries were very very good. We had a Guiness and it was just like going to Ireland. When we return to Anchorage, this will be one of our stops. read more

Came here after a long hiatus. Stopped coming in because the service was lousy and the food was ok, not amazing. Good location with a cool bar atmosphere and thought I'd give it another go but really nothing has changed much. This place seems to cater to its local clients which is fine. If you're not part of the Cheers club you stand to be ignored, as has been my experience. Years ago this was kind of the go-to place but now Anchorage has some really good eateries that in my opinion are far better, service wise and food/beer wise. read more

This place is really really good. Been there a few times when I was in Anchorage. In my opinion this place has the best Halibut chunks in town. I've tried a few other spots, which were good as well, but this place stands out. We came in early August and it was one of the places I was looking forward to, it didn't disappoint. I'd highly recommend. There are no reservations, and there is usually a wait. So make sure to be strategic or just be patient enough to get a seat.... Food, drink, and service are excellent. The restaurant and bar are small so it can be difficult to get a seat but worth it if you can.

First off, the food was great. We had the halibut sandwich and soup of the day and also shared the clams. We are first time visitors and the restaurant was fairly easy to find, parking was easy. What you should be aware of is the service at location in which others have also commented on. I wished they had a sign upon entrance but basically if you see an open table anywhere to seat yourself. No one there acknowledged you were there when you thought waiting politely and patiently was the way. We followed what others did around us and figured that out. The waitress we had was awful (i.e. disorganized, and rude) and not only to us but also those around us. At one point I spilled some soup and with the two piece of napkin that was given was not enough to soak it up. She saw us from cleaning the next table and asked if we needed help. She came over and dropped off a rag and left, basically clean it up ourselves. We ate our food as fast as we could have and were relieved to leave the restaurant.
