Potatoes and kale salad with strawberries
    Sonia G.

Let me start by saying I am a fan of at least two other Fadi's restaurants in the Houston area. This particular branch was not hitting on all fours however. My dining companion put it well,"The food was cooked as though they are following a recipe and only have a vague idea of what it's supposed to taste like." There were two of us, and we got chicken shawarma wrap, lamb wrap, fries, 1 drink, two half sides, and 1 baklava for about $50 USD at lunchtime. I do not think I have ever paid so much for so little. The meat had too many onions in it and was liberally seasoned with pepper, but they forgot the salt. The yogurt sauce had zero flavor. I almost think they just gave us plain yogurt with nothing else in it because the consistency was so thick. The chicken shawarma was dry. The pita bread was bitter and it did not taste at all fresh although it was only about noon on a weekday. I think this Fadi's must be one of those places that people only go to because it is convenient to the museums or their workplaces. The overall ambience was clean although the one person per bathroom with only 2 bathrooms total situation is not ideal given that one has to share with the staff. Finally, although the chicken shawarma table sign, they gave me stated 15 minutes to cook, it easily took 20 minutes. There were only four people ahead of us with only one of them getting something that took extra time to cook. Her sign said 8 minutes. I did not see anyone do a delivery order or pickup order while we were there which was about 40 minutes.Do they only have one grill then? The kale salad was only okay. The potatoes were dry and overly lemon flavored.

    This food just looked beautiful.

I wasn't even going to review on vacation but this food just looked so beautiful. The parking situation is kind of difficult but if its not 900 degrees outside and you can walk from a nearby museum DO IT. Everything is super fresh and entrees are made to order. There are about 10 flavors of hummus to try. Meal prep can take a little while if it is busy but its worth the wait.

What's wrong with this Fadi location? I live in Austin. Everytime I go to Houston, I must visit Fadi. This is my first time at this location. Pita bread: a total disappointment. Pita bread at Fadi is to die for, but not here. The bread has a weird acidic taste to it, and it's flat. It's far from fresh. Why? Why open a new location just to bring down the reputation of the whole chain ? Salad bar: it's way smaller than other locations, which is understandable. baba ganoush tastes so off. The kabobs taste fine. Overall, I for sure won't be back at this location again.

This was my first time at Fadi's after hearing about it from friends. I thoroughly enjoy Mediterranean food, so I was particularly excited to try this chain. To order, you can either choose a combo plate which comes with a wrap or a kebab + rice and your choice of 2-4 sides from their huge selection, which is presented in a buffet bar style that they serve to you. I picked the classic combo plate, which is 1 kebab and 2 half sides. I picked the Turkish lamb, which is a ground lamb kebab. The side selection was quite extensive, and everything looked pretty tasty. We came on a Wednesday at 2pm, so some things were in low quantity. I picked the pomegranate eggplant and Zaatar hummus. Some friends who joined did not expect the hummus to count as a side, but it does so beware. Once I got my sides and complimentary pita bread, I waited for my protein, which took 15ish minutes to be served, which felt like forever. The kebab was decent, maybe a little dry. The flavor was nothing groundbreaking but tasty for what it is. The eggplant was slightly sweet and tart from the pomegranate. The hummus was your typical hummus with some extra seasonings, like oregano. Overall, the value was decent for the amount of food. I was able to save half of my meal after becoming pretty full, but others were able to finish their plate. The interior is clean and has a modern aesthetic. The workers were friendly, but the one who took our order spoke primarily Spanish and ran into difficulty communicating when we were not ordering by the book.

Casual dining spot with great mediterranean food. The place is clean. Staff is friendly. Plenty of free parking at the garage. You choose your dishes and paid. Get your drink and a number stand and food will be delivered to your table. Love their pomegrate eggplant. A great place for Vegan and meat lover. Never try anything I don't like at Fadi's.

I had heard great things about the cafe at this new location, and had even tried their former location on Hillcroft a couple years ago as part of TooGoodToGo. While the concept is casual, the restaurant itself is very polished and feels like an upscale cafe. There is plenty of seating indoors as well as a huge patio outdoors. We opted to sit on the patio on a (rare) nice Houston day. The tables were spacious and the patio seating was very comfortable. We ordered the Kofta Kabob and Chicken Kabob specialty platters. These platters come with your choice of two sides - we went for the Fried Cauliflower, Tabouli Salad, Hummus, and Muhammara. The meats were so good and hit the spot. The Kofta Kabob had a complexity of flavor to it; so many spices that blended together really well. I will say that the post-meal burps of these spices were...smellier than usual. The Chicken Kabob was also flavorful and had a nice smokiness to it from the grill. I liked the slight crunch provided by the char along the edges. If I knew how to make chicken like this, it would be my daily meal prep! The Fried Cauliflower had a nice sear to it with lots of flavor. The Tabouli Salad and Hummus were comparable to those I've had at other Mediterranean places. The Muhammara was my favorite of the sides! It is a dip like hummus but also incorporates tomatoes, red bell peppers, and onions, among other spices; there was so much flavor to it and I could snack on this all day. The included pita bread was large, fluffy, and piping hot - perfect for dipping between the two side dips we got. Service was quick and friendly. The employee taking our order behind the counter was friendly and gave us the recommendation for the Muhammara - great rec. When our food was brought out and we had questions on some of the ingredients, the staff was very knowledgeable and knew right away what everything was.

We went on Saturday, got two Combo Dinners as you choose two mains and two sides. My husband got chicken and beef kafta with sides of hummus and fried cauliflower and I had beef kabob and beef kafta with sides of baba ganoush and greek salad. Upon delivery to our table (you order at counter) I was pleased to see the generous portion sizes then as we dug in, the flavors were yum! Even though there with many people there, there was plenty of seating and a nice sized patio we should have sat and enjoyed the cool breeze as it's on the East side of the restaurant. I don't think beer/wine or available so it's probably BYOB, didn't ask. The sweets looked really good. Abddallah's will certainly be one of our regular dining spots from now on. We should have tried it sooner!

While it's true no New Yorker would ever confuse this for the real thing, it was nice to see the option was around. And now that option has become a Gyro Hut. One of my biggest culture shocks in visiting Houston many years ago was seeing Halal Guys looking so different from what NY'ers would see on a nightly basis. There was dedicated parking, brightly lit interior, LCD menus, and employees with clean company branded uniforms (#2). None of them spoke Arabic and even referred to the gyro by its Greek pronunciation (#3). The lines for the first year were non-stop, as Houstonians were hyped for a taste of combo meats over rice and salad. Fast forward to nearly the present day, the lines have dissipated, the workers looked sad, and the food was even sadder. The latter boiled down to food quality: dry rice, bland chicken and gyro, and a very watery hummus that was hard to stomach without mixing everything together and dousing it all in white sauce. Despite its shortcomings, the place deserves its place in the Halal appreciation circle in the local dining scene. __________ (#1) The colloquial name before it became a franchise. I've tried many combo platters over the years and they all generally taste similar, but this version is unlike anything I've tried before. The dish contains a unique pickled flavor that brings out the rice and veggies. The gyro also tastes uniquely savory. I wish I took a better pic but I came here on a time crunch. Having a great gyro spot on Washington Ave is so fitting. Nothing hits harder than fast food after a night out, and Big Bite will serve as an unexpected blessing to those that stumble across it. It's no secret that good food trucks tend to look very barebones, but I still find it comical that the owners don't even have a menu to view. They nonchalantly suggested that I look for a photo on their Google Maps location instead. Rest assured, their food more than makes up for their lackluster appearance. I would love to give 5 stars but I paid an otherworldly price for my combo platter. $18 is the steepest I've ever seen an establishment charge, and it would've run me about $20 if I paid with card instead of cash. However, I wouldn't mind dropping by again on occasion for the amazing food and awesome owners.
