It's a minimalist design with menu board and buffet style line to see your options for building it your way. The tunnels have a common eating area for all businesses in this area. Food - 3.5* Can't say that I've ever been disappointed with anything I've ordered. Bowls, salads, falafels, etc. I would not say it is the "best" I've ever tasted having lived in the Middle East for significant periods of time, but by no means is it a poor representation! It definitely holds its own. Cost - 4* As I always say this is subjective, but IMO the pricing is reasonable and it is in line with other establishments in the tunnel system. There is a slight premium, but definitely nothing to prevent someone from giving it a chance! Service - 5* Every time I come here these folks are quick to acknowledge you and help make decisions if you're trying to figure out what to try. They will let you try various sauces as well! Good, quality food for under 10 bucks! JF originated in Abu Dhabi, UE and has a food truck/burrito house feel. Choose burrito or bowl, rice or lettuce. Pick your veggies (including hummus), then select your meat (or falafels) and sauce at the end. JF also offers sides, such as soup of the day, falafels, tabouleh, or a side salad. As you choose your sauce, pay special attention to the calories of the sauces, posted on the glass. Note that JF Special Sauce is the least healthy. I normally go with the Tzatziki sauce. One thing that caught my eye is that JF offers "pickled cucumbers" which everyone who ordered called them by that name. Aren't "pickles" actually cucumbers that are pickled? I guess that's the same as calling a hamburger a "steakburger". If you want a great snack, stop by and get some falafels. Excellent! Just Falafel is located in the downtown tunnel, off Dallas Street. The downtown tunnel is mostly forgotten by anyone who doesn't work downtown, but it has a number of great restaurants. Well, I tell you what... it's well worth the drive in! The first thing you notice as you walk up to order is how clean everything is. This is very important - it shows attention to detail. You can expect that if they put that much attention into keeping the kitchen clean, then they probably put the same care into everything else they do. That puts a smile on my face. What a friendly bunch here at Just Falafel! As I walked in, I was quickly greeted with some big hellos and even bigger smiles. I love this - it can really brighten your day and always adds to the culinary experience! If you have been following me very long, then you know I have an infatuation with salsas, sauces and condiments. Every Mexican restaurant I go to I ask them to build me a salsa flight so I can try all their creations. Well, at Just Falafel I found it only fitting to try all their sauces, too. My off-the-menu Sauce Flight (which I highly recommend) consisted of Sriracha, Tzatziki, Tahina, Garlic, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Spicy Indian, Tomato Salsa, JF Special, Honey Mustard and Ranch served up with a mound of Falafels and hand-cut fries. Ahhmazing is an understatement! All these sauces had a special place in my heart, but my favorites were the Tahina, Tzatziki, Spicy Indian, Garlic and JF Special. You can taste the hard work and passion that is put into every sauce. Loved it! We wanted to get a feel for the whole menu, so we tried a little bit of everything. After the Sauce Flight, we ordered the Original Falafel, Original Lamb Gyro, Chicken Shawarma, Original Beef Shawarma Wrap and the Chicken & Rice bowl - a dish that is perfect for those who are gluten-free. I am a sucker for a Lamb Gyro, so, of course, this gem was a sure favorite. The Original Lamb Gyro was packed and filled with thinly-sliced Lamb, Spring Mix, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Cucumber, Pickles and Tzatziki Sauce. We also added a side of Greek Fries. The combination of flavors - along with the house-made Tzatziki Sauce - was like fireworks exploding on every taste bud! Creamy, crunchy and chewy all at the same time. A definite go-to for me here at Just Falafel! The Greek Fries are another one of my favorites here at Just Falafel. I added them as a side, but I have to tell you it is more like an entrée. These hand-cut fries are topped with a mound of Chopped Lamb, Green Onions, Feta Cheese and drizzled with Tzatziki Sauce. I could not put my fork down... it just kept diving back in like a shovel into the mound of greatness! Each bite was better than the last. I like... I like a lot! The Original Chicken Shawarma Wrap is built with Chicken, Cucumber, Pickles, Lettuce, Skin-on Fries and Garlic Sauce. We had it served with Falafels. Take a look at the photography and see for yourself. Incredible! All the vegetables were really fresh and had a nice crunch. The chicken was extremely flavorful and that Garlic Sauce just really put it over the top! At the last minute, I noticed what looked like a couple of tacos being served up to someone at the counter. Hmmmm... interesting. I quickly found out they serve Falafel Tacos here at Just Falafel. Only in Texas - ha! We had to try them for ourselves. The flour tortilla is filled with wonderful Falafel, Natural Cage-free Egg, Tomato and Parsley and drizzled with Tahini Sauce. Not only is this taco perfect for Vegans, but it's also full of flavor. Unique AND tasty! I didn't think my experience at Just Falafel could get any better... and then it did! For dessert, I was served up a Nutella Quesadilla. It's prepared like you would imagine - a Tortilla filled with Nutella and Graham Cracker Crumbles. OMG... another unique and very sweet addition to the menu! Again, letting me know I am in the Lone Star State with this Tex-Mex influence. Not sure it gets much better! Wow! That is the first word that comes to mind when I think about my first of many experiences at Just Falafel. This unique style of Mediterranean cuisine in a fast-casual environment is incredible. They really are redefining street food here and my quick culinary vacation to the Middle East via Just Falafel was filled with savory herbs and exotic spices with flavors that I truly love! I could find myself eating here everyday! It's in Allen center food court in the tunnel, so close to work and I love their falafels! They are crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. I ordered the rice bowl with falafels both times. First time the original, second I did build your own. I will continue to stick with the build my own option. I also LOVE the rice. It's moist and would taste good by itself. Oh, the other thing I'm a fan of; the pickled cucumbers. Get those for sure. It's not a pickle. It's a semi-spicy pickled cucumber. I also got a side of roasted red pepper hummus. I wish they had fresh pita with the hummus instead of pita chips. Just a personal preference. The falafel was well seasoned and was not dry at all. I enjoyed the addition of the fresh herbs, especially the mint. The baba ganoush was ok, it didn't have a lot of flavor or seasoning. I was craving falafel but also trying to be healthy so I was a bit of a difficult customer with my order. I wanted just falafel and beef shawarma with no sides or wraps. I expected a big fat no or at least some attitude but the people working there were completely nice and accommodating and didn't seem the least bit put out. They were just grateful to have a customer! I wish more places and people were like that. I apologized for being so difficult and the guy was like not at all! Into its 3rd week, unfortunately Just Falafel is still working out the kinks. I ordered a falafel bowl (essentially a falafel salad) with the standard mixins (versus the build-your-own option they had available). The employees were arranged in an assembly line, but there was confusion between them about who would prepare my order. When I received my bowl, it was missing a couple of the advertised ingredients, which was a little annoying but not enough to get back in line and have them correct it. Unfortunately, the falafel was just not good. I love falafel, so much that I've had it twice in the last week before this excursion. Just Falafel's product was over-fried, dry and flavorless, and I would not eat them again unless they make some changes to their preparation. Despite what the name suggests, they do serve more than falafel (namely shawarma with beef or chicken), so I would be opening to trying one of their meaty options next time around. In fact, my coworker ordered a chicken shawarma, and seemed to enjoy his. But for a place with falafel in the name, they should really step their game up. read more

The owner iis not trustworthy. He said he woulld call me back around 5:00 PM yesterday and did not. Avoid this place. Charley's BBQ sell a huge halal sandwich of chicken or lamb for $5.50. And, there is Arabella and Mediterranean Grill that are both halal. The staff do not tell the truth and do not make sandwiches the way you want it. They refuse to put the toppings that you like on the sandwich. And, do not give you sauce & utensils. Better halal options elsewhere in the tunnel. read more

The falafel I felt, was a tad overcooked and I was a little bit disappointed in how small they were. If they're the protein, I wish they gave me more :(. They placed 4 (roughly) 50 cent sized falafels on each corner of the salad . The outside skin felt like it was in the cooker a little too long but tasted pretty good. I had a falafel sandwich. The falafel was well seasoned and cooked. This was the first time I had been there, and I even told them that. However the person that was helping me didn't seem like she was in the mood to help me through the process involved in creating your meal. This place is similar to a chipotle or Salata situation where you walk down the aisle making selections along the way. I always do the Build Your Own Bowl with either rice or salad, depending on my mood. Normally I don't consider anything a full meal unless there's meat in it (hey, it's Texas!) but after trying the chicken and beef, I have decided the falafel is the tastiest option and satisfies my protein craving. The food is totally customizable and I still haven't decided which of their sauces is my favorite; I vacillate between the JP Special (a riff on a thousand island) and the tzatziki. This is a very nice spot for fresh halal food, especially if you're into healthy customized salad bowls loaded with your favorite veggies and topped with some flavorful protein options. I tried their Chicken Shawarma salad bowl with half a portion of rice and an extra portion of truffle beef on the side. The meat was very juicy and the dish on the whole tasted great as well. Prices are reasonable and customer service is very nice. Granted, the menu is limited to bowls and wraps, but the customization appeal more than compensates for that. I have sampled their signature falafel as well, which was solid, by the way. I look forward to my next visit here to try any other salad bar items that I may have missed on my first visit. I was starving for lunch today and the only thing I wanted to eat was just falafel. So, I got on the google and searched where I could find just falafel. The google sent me underground through a series of tunnels beneath the streets of Houston, but I didn't mind because I was hungry for just falafel. I got lost looking for just falafel, when I bumped into Master Splinter (my karate sensei), who pointed me into the right direction. When I arrived, the restaurant was adorned with beautiful crimson shrouds, reminiscent to a carpet ride I had when I spent time in Agrabah. Just falafel was so incredibly flavorful that I was wisped away to a simpler time so much that I ordered just falafel to bring back to the office. The chef Jafar was very friendly and had expertise in just falafel. The waiter, Abu served Just Falafel with an incredulously warm smile. UberEats couldn't find my address (I'm in a big, easily recognizable school that gets frequent UberEats deliveries), cancelled my order twice, and on the second time they cancelled and charged me! I called Just Falafel and they not only got it straightened out, but Mr. Ardekani delivered my order *personally* and added a bit of baklava.
