I found a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant next to my gym and looked it up on Yelp. It had at least my minimum requirement of 4 stars so I decided to give it a try. The owner is a very nice lady who seems very friendly personable with her customers. As customers walked in she remembered their food preferences , other customers here also seemed like regulars and were suggesting things on the menu. The owner was patient, friendly and stood there the whole time helping me choose and navigate the menu since it was my first time here. That by itself is worth an extra Star . I orders the combination plate and she allowed me to make some substitutions. I got general Taos chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and low mein with vegetables. There was also a soup that came for free I think it's egg drop soup with some crunchies. The general tsoas chicken had a good flavor, I asked them to make everything spicy and it had a nice kick. It was really crunchy which I like but I can see alot of people thinking that it has too much batter and not enough meat. Also pretty much everything was pretty greasy when I don't mind but it's not the usual Americanized Chinese food people from other big cities outside of Albuquerque are probably used to: The low mein with vegetables was probably my favorite part. I added spicy to it too and it was great. I can see why people keep coming here; it's a mom pop business where a real traditional Chinese owner takes your order and cooks for you and the food feels authentic. There's not many options in town for Chineese food that are decent and not chains. I would come back for the low mein and support the nice lady who owns this place. read more

Their food is good but they definitely need to improve their fried rice . When I have gotten fried rice at other resteraunts their rice usually has some vegetables and sometimes eggs in them . There is without character .It is dry .We have been adding to it or getting noodles .Hate to have to spend extra on adding to it . They have some employees that are good communicators so ordering has actually really gotten easier . We only ate there once and it was comfortable . read more

Absolutely the best Chinese I have found in Albuquerque! Food is great. I particularly love their Chicken Lo Mein. Their Hot and Sour soup is incredible. The staff is so kind and accommodating. I had seen a lot of people suggesting this restaurant on Facebook and decided to give it a try. When we went it was just after 3pm so dinner prices. The prices for the dinner combinations they had available were very fair along with the prices thru out most of the rest of the menu. The inside was well lit and smelled so welcoming and delicious. It was sunny inside but not uncomfortably so. The waitress came over fast to take our drink orders and brought them and soup out within our first 5 min. She was very friendly and quick. The food was fresh and delicious. The portions were big and left enough for another meal. The vegetables in the meal and egg rolls still had some crunch. Ok, hear me out. Most of the menu is your typical American style chinese food...BUT the gems have to be: salt & pepper squid, beef with rice noodles, and cashew chicken! Try em. We typically order about 30 minutes prior and just do pickup. If you have a large order, she'll try to put all your foam boxes in a large cardboard box so it's easy to carry out. read more

Walked in a little after five and there was only one couple seated. Started to get busy around 6pm, but most of the orders were for carry out. Service was a bit lacking and it took over 40 minutes to get our order. A few people decided to walk to Applebees, instead. I ordered the curry shrimp and my partner ordered the chicken fried rice. There was a great aroma from the curry, but both dishes lacked flavor. I was hoping for a better experience because I like going to small local places. The food here is excellent. I tried it 20 or so years ago and wasn't fond of it, but maybe new owners or cooks, but it is delicious now!

So my husband and I had a hankering for Chinese food decided to check out Fai Wong since our visit many years ago. Our initial visit was right after they opened. Last night visit was excellent. This is being written during limited operations of COVID and we opted to order take out. I had General Tao's chicken combo plate and my husband had the Chow Mein combo plate. Both were very good to excellent. I liked the fried rice they serve, it has no egg and has a lighter feel after eating than your more traditional fried rice. We also ordered egg drop soup, it had an excellent taste, but I still have my favorite at Chen Shen ( now in the NE sector of the city, I sure wish they would come back to the NW!) don't let that deter you though, it really was very good! One order is good for party of two. I'm glad I ventured back and now I'm kind of sorry I waited so long to return! We will go back soon. I was sitting at home with a craving for Chinese food but I wasn't sure what restaurants were nearby so I googled it and Fai Wong Chinese Restaurant popped up. I thought what the heck let's give it a try. It's a small restaurant and I was greeted by a young man who told me I was welcome to sit anywhere I like. There was a couple at a nearby table dining but while I was there plenty of customers came in for takeout. I started my meal with egg drop soup and it was delicious and not watered down like some I've had at other places in the past. My entree was a plate with cashew chicken, sweet and sour pork, fried rice, and an egg roll. I was in heaven at the first bite! The food was delicious! The flavors were amazing in each bite! The cook -who I assume is also the owner, came out from the kitchen to help clear a table and I told her what a great cook she is! It was my first time here but definitely not my last! After mixed reviews I thought I'd try it myself. The place is clean, quaint and friendly environment. I ordered the lunch L.5 Orange Chicken for $8.75. The order came with a descent size egg drop soup, fried rice, and an egg roll. Overall, customer service was a 10/10, menu options was a 10/10, time from order to food to table was a 10/10 and flavor and quantity for a lunch meal was 10/10. The inside seating area is a bit small but they cleared a table for us. Our server was very friendly and she took our drink order and brought them quickly. My hubs found what he's been looking for the last 10 years, paper wrapped chicken. Oh, you bet he ordered that. Also pork fried rice and ribs. The battered shrimp was out by the time we got there. I chose vegetable low mein with tofu.I just love noodles ! We perused that menu again and he found quite a bit more he wants to try next time. So did I. The food came out pretty quickly. I barely had time to snap a pic of his paper wrap chicken as hubs grabbed those shiny parcels right away. Seriously. I thought I'd draw back a nub. Boy, was my guy happy ! My low mein was hot and tasty. I asked for Sriracha, they don't carry it but they have chili paste and it was awesome. Not only was the food great but selection was pretty large. Of seven people in the store we were the only dine in customers. There was only 1 employee in the front. She took orders, answered the phones, waited tables and cleaned up after. That means slow service for dine in. Busy but friendly. However, once we ordered we got our food quickly. Wonton soup came out loaded with 3 wontons, a couple pieces of pork and a little broth. A refreshing change from the single wonton usually served. Lemon chicken and Szechuan beef ordered and delivered family style with white rice. The lemon chicken was cut and fried like sweet & sour chicken - but with lemon sauce instead meh. I've had much better. However the Szechuan Beef was delicious. It was spicy with a nice portion of tender beef. Overall not the best, but not bad. It wouldn't be a waste of time & $$$ to enjoy a meal here. read more

Did a To-Go Order, order egg rolls, chow mein combo, szechuan beef, and a large fried rice. The menu says that the beef comes with a white rice and there wasn't one. The Szechuan beef was pretty good. The chow mein didn't have many veggies to it but wasn't bad. The fried rice, well that was like something I've never seen before. See photos attached. Looks more so like soy sauce mixed with white steamed rice. Did I get someone's left overs? LOL I've never seen or heard of soy sauce rice. Stopped in for a bowl of soup and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the house special wonton soup and it was just packed full of all sorts of goodies...hell, I bet there was 4 ounces of pork alone in there, not to mention 5-6 shrimp and a good amount of poached chicken.
