Extremely mid. 33 dollars for an over cooked 2 inch lobster tail and some fake imitation crab. Service seemed like they'd rather be anywhere but there. If you're looking for good ramen just go to Tamashi. Sad especially for such a good location right off central. I haven't been to ORamen in a long time. My daughter really wanted to try their 10th anniversary items. It was great. The service was friendly and great. 2 servers stopped by to check on us. We had to wait for a table because they were packed at noon on Fridays once we ordered it didn't take long at all. The prices have gone up but still reasonable. Prices are up everywhere. The food was great. We started with Onigiri rice balls then Takoyaki. Then we both got ramen bowls. We finished with the tea Tiramisu. It was delicious. To be fully transparent, we ended up at O Ramen by mistake. We didn't expect two ramen restaurants right next door to each other. Definitely take your earplugs because this joint is tiny, but LOUD! Having prepared for another restaurant, the menu threw me off, but the amazing staff were happy to help. I panic-ordered plain chicken and all of the other dorks at my table did the same, so we only have one dish to review. The vegetarian ramen is very good. Such flavor to the broth, and the tofu is panko breaded- wonderfully crispy and good. It's hard to put it in the broth because it's just right as it is! You can customize the ramen as you'd like to by adding different ingredients and toppings. A poached egg is good in it. The portions are large and filling. First time visiting this restaurant, we passed by it a few times while driving on Central but never really had a chance to try it out. Decided to give it a try this time. Just be forewarned, the parking here isn't that great. You can either park along Central, if you're lucky to find a spot. Or you can park in the back of the building. The parking back there is hit or miss as well. This restaurant is inviting, the staff is very friendly and attentive. They helped us with the menu. They offer a wide variety of ramens and curries. We visited on a cold day, so we decided to try the ramen. I'm sure their curry is tasty according to the reviews I've seen here on Yelp, but the ramen was good as well. It's served in a big bowl but not a lot of ingredients. Might have been because we ordered the regular ramen and not the deluxe. Decided on the tonkotsu, since that's what I usually get when we eat ramen. It was okay, my noodles weren't cooked throughly. The deluxe comes with more ingredients than the smaller ramens. But I think if you're really hungry you can get the deluxe. They even offer it with a spice level. I'm sure there are many people out there that like their ramens spicy. Overall the visit was good. I was able to find parking along the street, but I'm guessing certain times of the day parking may be a little difficult. O Ramen has, and will remain one of my favorite parts in town. They are just so consistent and probably my favorite spot for Japanese curry. I recently went with a friend around five pm on a weekday, and there was no way. However, for those times that there is a wait you can conveniently join the waitlist from your phone because they use Yelp waitlist. If you've been, you know, it's a rather small dining area, but they get people in and out really quickly. The food is always delightful in the portions are huge. I haven't gotten ramen in quite a while because I just can't not get the curry but the ramen bowls are massive. You can customize your dish in a lot of different ways, I always add extra pickled daikon, which is my absolute favorite thing when it comes to ramen or curry. The noodles!!! Oh my gosh the noodles. As I've stated in other reviews my husband and I used to live in Japan for a few years and it's extraordinarily difficult finding some thing stateside with any resemblance. Four of the crucial details is the noodles, the egg, the pork and the broth. Typically you will get two out of the four but if you happen to get three out of the four you've gotten lucky. For this particular spot it's a three out of four. The noodles have that perfect fresh chewiness. This is the only place we've found so far to have authentic noodles. The egg was perfect! The flavor was excellent and they were cooked... perfect. The pork was an odd one though. While I love fried pork, I have never seen it in ramen however oh man was it tasty. Leaving the broth as the fourth It was the miss. It didn't offer a lot of flavor and while the Ramen level was only a 3 it seemed to be the only thing that gave it taste. Another miss was the chicken gyoza. It arrived still frozen in the middle. They of course took it back and replaced it with fully cooked gyoza which was then yummy. If you are in the area I definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more

After living in Japan for 7 years and also living in California for 3 years, I'm a harsh critic when it comes to Japan curry. I got the tonkatsu and was expecting a huge cutlet that was sliced up similar to how they serve it in Cali or Japan, however, got pieces of meat. I got the Deluxe with pork and my pork was overcooked and tough. My broth was again average. In my photo, you can see some chile as well- that's from the optional added spice. I always try out a restaurant's spiciest level just because I love anything spicy, and this extra hot level 5 did not disappoint! Flavorful while packing the heat in that chile sauce they added, I enjoyed my meal without it being over the top. There was a 'pupa' or cocoon like bug in my soup. I got this delivered to my work and it was absolutely disgusting. I've ordered from here before and I have loved that it's cheaper than other places, close to my work and good to eat when it's cold outside. But I was absolutely disgusted. I was at my desk eating this and I had taken a bite of food, and looked down and saw it floating in my food. I spat everything out and threw up. When I called the manager, he tried to blame it on the delivery driver and told me that it was 'just a mushroom.' But the bag was stapled three times. It wasn't the driver, this bug also looks like it was lightly cooked like it was in the food that was being prepared. He also mentioned that because they are down by the university, 'people try to scam us a lot.' I don't think he was understanding the impact of what this did yesterday. I was so grossed out, freaked out and all while at work. Since I was at work, I had asked multiple coworkers about it and they all said the same thing, that it was like a pupa of a worm or caterpillar. I called the health department because this is so disgustingly wrong. It's one thing to buy bugs to eat like at a ball game, but to have one surprise you in your food, it's so so gross. This place must be really so dirty to have that going on in their restaurant. It has completely disturbed me. Do not eat here, obviously very dirty and the manager is unwilling to help, he will say the things I listed above. Noodles were cooked well and had a nice chew. the pork seemed to be a cut of pork belly and seemed like it was just cooked in the broth. It had no color at all and was 90% fat. The chicken ramen with spicy level 2 actually had some flavor but that may have just been the spice. I like the ambiance. Service was very slow with two servers working the whole restaurant and to go orders. I don't plan on coming back. I've come to this spot frequently over the years. I like the sketchy walk from the rear parking lot, through the graffiti-filled walkway, right up to the entry door. Once inside, a relatively authentic environment awaits, and typically good service and food. Not this last time... The gentleman waiting on us was overly attentive to the point where it became uncomfortable and we felt rushed. The hot sake we ordered was bitter and had a terrible taste that we've never experienced (we couldn't even finish it). The food was relatively bland and they skimped on the broth (which had zero flavor). To top it off, while being rushed out, my partner's debit card was never returned and we had to go back the next day to get it. I'll probably go back, but not anytime this season. Was sat down quick, and ordered quick. The waitress said that the hot green tea was charged for pot, not for person, but when we asked for extra cups we were told each cup was $3, which was fine (technically the $3 per person was on the menu). The food was ok, came out warm. I think they got tired of us trying to get attention from the waitress because a couple of staff just walked by ignoring us. When someone did come by, my mom asked if hers could be warmed up in the microwave, they said yes and I heard them talking about it in the back, they just waited a couple of seconds and brought it out same temperature.
