This is THE spot to go to for burgers and fries in Altadena. This is probably my 4th time back. I haven't tried their wonderfully diverse menu, but will come back for that soon. This trip, we had a Fair Oaks Burger and Avocado Burger... both of which were so solid with great flavor. The veggies were fresh and crisp and balanced well with the bun and patty. Got my onions grilled and wife got them raw. Chili cheese fries and steak fries were money. Please be patient inside and at the drive through. They are a hard working crew trying to make it happen for us Altadenean residents. This ain't no fast food joint. It's a classic mom and pop that is doing it right. Amazing place! This is a dive, hole-in-the-wall, only for the locals place. It's not Instagram-worthy. It's not something you'll blog about to however many followers you have, okay? This is great food at amazing prices. It has a little bit of everything - Chinese, Mexican, and American. I've never had a bad meal from here and I discovered it on a whim last summer. Been a regular customer ever since. You can't go wrong with the cheeseburger combo. It's delicious and filing. They do not skimp on the fries so be prepared to share. The fried zucchini is my absolute favorite and I order it just about every time. The patty melt is to-die for. So delicious and just so ooey-gooey. Fair oaks Burger is a staple of the Pasadena/Altadena burger places. It is small in size but big in portion and taste. They serve a variety of choices from breakfast with Turkey options ! To lunch and dinner combos. I usually will get a cheeseburger combo with grilled onions and avocado you can add a fried egg if you like . However my favorite is the fried rice and chicken chow mien option! It is a huge portion and delicious. Packed with veggies which I love. To drink you must try the special Goddi drink. To describe the taste is an Orange creamsicle. You cannot get it anywhere else! It's delicious. read more

Are you kidding me? This place is a hidden gem in Beautiful Altadena. The food is incredible, fresh.lively and priced really fair. My favorite (when it does not sell out) for the Asian food is Thai Yellow Curry and rice and you can get it with protein (Chicken) or without. It is actually two meals for the price of 1. My kiddo loves the double cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink! From the Mexican food the potato tacos are to die for and the Breakfast Burrito is not only awesome but enough for 2 people. They also do catering (we had a birthday party catered by F.O.B.)- The people that own it are lovely and really accommodating. There is a area to sit inside and outside but the drive through window is the best after a hard day at work or if you just want to grab a quick and delish lunch on your lunchbreak. Pretty cool spot for elevated fast food! The burgers were pretty spot on with In'n'Out and the chowmein (LOL) tasted fresh. Personally I'm not a huge fan of wide steak fries since they tend to be less crispy than normal burger or crinkle cut fries, so that's my only gripe. Seems like a great family owned spot. I have lined in the neighborhood since 1986 and Fair Oaks Berger has always been good. The sisters who run it now are delightful and have been running the business their parents started for many years. Their menu is American, Chinese and Mexican, and nothing disappoints. Amazing service! Greeter as soon as I entered with smiling faces. Expecting to pay over $35 and it was just under $30. So pricing is more than fair. Cool burger mural on the side of the building that caught our eye. Inside is simple, not a big dining room area. So you might want to take out. Ordered the bacon avocado cheeseburger. One with a side of fries and another with a side of fried zucchini. The food was beyond great! Fresh ingredients, seasoned juicy meat with a nice little layer of char. The fries were these gigantic steak fries that were fried extra crispy. The zucchini fries were legit cut-up and battered with something they have in house because I've never tasted anything like that before. If you guys do your onion rings like that. Sign me the f up! Everyone was right! Get the Fair Oaks burger. Came here about 6pm and waited in the drive through for about 15 mins. It was worth it. The lady who took our order was super nice and packed a bag of chicken for our dog who was peeping out our window. We ordered 2 burgers and Chilli cheese fries. The burger had bacon, cheese, pickles, avocado and jalapeños. Bun soft and buttered just right with a light spread of condiments. The chilli cheese fries were really good too, but wish I asked for jalapeños. The chilli was comparable to the Hats. Will be coming back! read more

Tried Fair Oaks Burger for the first time today. It's been on my list for a while. I was VERY satisfied with my cheese burger, add grilled onions. For $5 this burger is fantastic! I recently had a $10 cheese burger at The Stand, and I'd say the Fair Oaks burger was just as good or better for half the price. I also tried the chili cheese fries. They were good, well-made, but I wasn't a fan of the fries or the chili seasoning. I won't have that again. The service was great. The woman running the register was very quick on the uptake and the ordering went very smoothly. She even brought my food out to one of the outside tables. I will definitely try other items here and will update my review. Update: I had another cheese burger here today with grilled onions, sub 1000 island for mayo. It was really good again! I liked everything about it. I'm amazed how good the burger is for $5. I planned to try something else from the menu, but the burger was so good last time I had to see if it was a fluke. It wasn't. I must say, I always wanted a local burger spot like Fair Oaks Burger in my neighborhood, (Im from San gabriel) just because the service and food is very good overall. The owner is amazing, she works very hard just like her staff. I don't come across often with an owner who works just as hard as her staff. This must he the reason why her food is delicious. By the way, This Burger joint sells more than just Burgers and fries. They have American Chinese dishes, Mexican american dishes, Salads, and breakfast! Ill take some pics of the food options below. There is a drive up window, a few tables inside, and at least 4 big tables outside. Service was excellent and friendly. There are burgers, Mexican food and Chinese food. Love stopping here after a hike! An awesome local mom and pop restaurant with delicious food ranging from American, Mexican, and Chinese! The ladies who work here are so nice and provide great customer service to the point where they start walking up to the cars in line at the drive thru to take orders personally to help with the congestion a bit. I used the drive through around 6:00pm and there was hardly anyone else in the parking lot. I was the only one in line. I ordered the fair oaks burger combo with fried zucchini instead of French fries. I was a little disappointed at the amount of zucchini they give with the combo order, especially because I had to pay extra for the upgrade, but I was satisfied with the meal and not left hungry once finished. The fried zucchini was the perfect texture though. So crispy and the breading didn't fall off. It wasn't the most flavorful coating, but fried zucchini are usually just a vessel for ranch anyways. The burger itself was quite good as well. Well seasoned meat, a good ratio of toppings, not a soggy disaster either. The woman who took my order was very kind and friendly, making a joke about the heat as she handed me the food. The food took a while to come out, maybe 10 or so minutes, but I think everything was just being made fresh and it wasn't a stressful wait by any means. The food isn't worth the wait or the poor service/prices. Just eat somewhere else. I ordered a BLTA and it took 20+ mins. The drive thru speaker is terrible so you can't even hear half of the responses. I was asked what kind of bread but could only hear two options. After 15mins of waiting at the window she came to get my payment so I asked for clarity on the bread options. I asked to change it to sourdough, thinking that since it's a sandwich w no melted cheese/sauce switching the bread would be a simple two step process but I was told they could not switch the bread. I asked for it on the side and after another 5+mins she finally brought me my order with an additional $2.00 charge for my bread on the side. If the speaker wasn't so wonky I would have heard all the options and avoided the two dollar up charge and extra bread. read more
