I decided to check out this new place today that used to be Dad's on J. My first impression was that the inside had gotten a huge makeover which was great and they got rid of some of the tables that used to line the right side of the restaurant which was nice - it made it more roomy, but also means there's less seats now then before. The kitchen staff worked fast, but felt like they were on top of themselves a few times. They just haven't found their groove yet which I think can be expected from a place that is only 2 weeks old. One of the guys calling out the order numbers was very attentive and asked what number I was because he had seen me waiting for my food still so that was nice. I ordered the chicken platter which came with chicken, rice, salad, hummus, tzatziki, hummus and pita for $11.99. The chicken and rice were very flavorful, but I wasn't a huge fan of the hummus or tzatziki. I've just had better else where. Pita was nice and warm which I liked and their portions are very generous though so it was worth the price. They serve baklava and Turkish delights and your basic sodas in a can. They also have happy hour from 2-5pm where you can get 10% off of your $10 or more order. My only other issue is that we do already have similar food options on the surrounding streets such as Vela's and Darna so it would have been nice to have something different in place of Dad's, but I will definitely come back and try one of their burgers! read more

My job eats at this place a lot this is our go-to place for falafel. This is the first time that I've ever had a bad order from them I asked for a cheddar bacon burger with grilled onions I got to chill and bacon burger with one piece of bacon and they normally come with two and regular onions and not grilled needless to say I didn't finish the mail I just throw it away I just very disappointed because normally with the food is really good here but I don't know what happened. read more

Presentation of food was good. Service on a Saturday afternoon is slow so it's a good time to come. Parking will be hard to find. Run down property. There was a large bag full of aluminum cans just hanging by the trash. It did not look great combined with un-house people walking outside. Unfortunately, staff was loud in the back and it did not make for an enjoyable dining experience. Employees were breaking large frozen food or ice bags on the ground. The noise level made it un-welcoming and uncomfortable to stay any longer. I unfortunately cannot recommend for dining, ambiance, or convenience. It's the best falafel and Halal place in Sacramento. The food is delicious! We usually get the gyro and combo plate, along with some falafel. The meat is tender, the vegetables fresh, and the hummus very tasty. The falafel comes out flavorful and crispy. I recommend asking for the sauce on the side for the falafel (and not on it) to keep the crispiness. Prices are reasonable. The interior is clean. Overall a great experience. I am partial to the downtown location though have been to the Natomas one as well. read more

This is a great spot for lunch if you work downtown. But call ahead if you are in a hurry, or be prepared to wait for your food. Their Falafel Plate is good, and lives up to the hype given to it by my coworkers. It was enough food for two very filling meals for me. I especially enjoyed the falafels and rice with the yogurt sauce it was covered in. Served piping hot, it was a great pick-me-up in the middle of a long day. The hummus was good, though nothing to write home about. The pita was toasted before serving, adding a nice extra bit of crunch. The prices are a little high, but the portion sizes make up for it. Service was friendly and prompt, though they do take a while to prepare the food. However, you can tell it is fresh and the flavors are all on point. I will definitely be back. read more

Solid 3.5 stars for Falafel Corner, bringing affordable middle eastern food to downtown. I came in on a Thursday a bit after 1pm when it seemed most of the rush was done. The menu is clear, but look online for full offerings. Pretty standard counter service for a fast casual place, with the kitchen mostly exposed on one side. I wasn't thrilled with the seating, as the lunch crowd had been messy and staff hadn't had time to clean up (seemed generally understaffed in the front of the house with just two guys available). My food was good, but not what I am used to for this cuisine. I had a falafel wrap that had hummus, tzatziki that had too much dill, lettuce, tomatoes in a fluffy pita. It was very nicely filled, almost too much. Not the biggest fan of their falafel, as it had spicy red pepper flakes in it and felt over done on the outside. I'm used to flavorful, herby middle eastern food, rather than spicy. Fries were less than crispy but flavorful, the curly ones looked good. I liked the price for sure, just over $10 for both items, but longer wait than you'd expect. Pretty good lunch options at Falafel Corner, many options to brighten up your day. read more

Wow! I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I have an affliction for Mediterranean food, so I love checking out new places. Being as though I'm on the last of my cash until this next pay period(lol), I was really hoping for some good food at a decent price. Let me tell you, it was. Service: this is counter service but pretty fast paced, and this place was popping! There was a mostly full dining room and patio. The man who took our order was very knowledgeable about food allergies. Everything I ordered he said whether there was a gluten or dairy item involved. I appreciate the knowledge he automatically prompted us on. The food: pretty damn good. The portions were insane. I'm going to be eating for a few days on this and I am not mad about it. I ordered the falafel plate, my boyfriend got the gyro plate. Everything was really tasty, my only complaint was that it was under seasoned for my taste. Greek food as sways been known for its fresh and vibrant flavors. The bite from the various pickled items, the crunch of the fresh tomato and cucumber. That's what you go there for. The hummus was a little bland but everything together seemed to work pretty well. I left full and satisfied(with a gigantic box of leftovers). I was in town for a few meetings and needed food before heading back to the airport. I read the other Yelp reviews on Falafel Corner and had to check it out. I had yhe falafel pita and it was absolutely yummmmmmmmm! I have not had falafel this good outside of Israel. The restaurant is small, clean and comfy. The gentleman who made my order was very kind and made me feel welcome when I came in. The falafel were absolutely huge, the tzaziki had to be homemade and the pita was fluffy and fresh. It has been two meals so far, including surviving air travel. Next time I'm on that side of town, I will be visiting Falafel Corner again! read more

Good portion size and the price is very cheap in my opinion.I will say that it was not the most clean kitchen area and the fries could've been better. They have multiple locations as well so check around if you don't live in or near downtown. They have one in natomas and rancho cordova. In my opinion, the rancho codova one is a bit better because it's less busy so they are able to take their time with preping your meal. read more

I am so glad Falafel Corner is doing so well! Their newest location is in downtown Sacramento right near my office. This means I don't have to schlep up to Natomas for my Mediterranean fix. The small restaurant took over Dad's on J and has takeout. Parking is street only and limited. The menu is simple and amazing. You can get pita, plates, and burgers. My favorite is the beef, but these days I'm restricted to the chicken and falafel. Fortunately these are also amazing making it easy to have a great meal. The platters are really large with lots of rice and hummus. Most are big enough to share with lunch. The falafel are really big and crisp with lots of flavor. Just like the other locations everything else is great with creamy hummus, fresh pita, and a crispy and healthy salad. The downtown location has kept all the best parts of their other locations and brought them to all us downtown workers. The restaurant is tiny and noisy, so do yourself a favor and take your food to the park or back to the office instead. Halal Way or the Highway! read more

First and foremost. Ignore the low star reviews. They complain of tight quarters. Heat. Lack of seating. And supposed lack of flavor.... I'm telling you this spot it next level delish! My favorite is the small places. Hole in the wall. Perhaps not the most esthetically pleasing... but authentic they surely don't lack! The prices are right. The gyro platter is huge! The lamb/beef fantastic! The tzatziki and hummus are flavorful and satisfying! We will most definitely be back!!! My only negative. My sister and I ended up here when we discovered that the restaurant we'd intended to patronize was closed. A friend of mine recently recommended Falafel Corner so we decided to check it out. The place was very clean and the three young guys working that evening were friendly and helpful. Sis ordered the falafel platter and I ordered the falafel wrap and curly fries. The platter was enormous and included FIVE falafel patties the size of hockey pucks! (Ok, not really, but they *were* the biggest falafel I've ever seen.) The guys also brought us some homemade hot sauce and tzatziki. It certainly is not a fancy place but the food was very tasty and the service congenial. My sister could only finish three falafels so we had some leftovers for a "doggy box." Would definitely go back if I'm the neighborhood. read more

One of the biggest and most delicious falafel I've had in the US! We were staying at the Citizen and needed something for a late night snack. We ordered the falafel plate. It came with 4 big falafel, rice, dormas (naan), hummus and veggies. Everything was delicious and filling for the two of us as a late night snack. The falafel was more oily than I've had so far but the taste of them was delicious!! Definitely recommend. Do be careful in the area late night, as it can get a little unpleasant. read more

Stopped in during lunch. There was no line. I ordered my food. 20 minutes later, a half dozen people had come in after me, ordered, and gotten their food. I asked how much longer, and, after searching for my ticket, he tells me it would be another 5 minutes because they were so busy. Apparently too busy with the people who came in AFTER me to actually make my food. I got my money back and left, and went to a cafe down the street. It's one of those sad moments when you're visiting a city and taste a dish you would eat every week, but alas it's several hundred miles away. I love love loved their beef/lamb shawarma pita sandwiches. The sauce is excellent. The meat is chopped into perfect bite sized shape and it's served with a fork, if you want to go that way.
