nasty place..flies all over dining tables are dirty ..expensive compared to taste and quantity

I had super high expectations going in to this unconventional Indian food experience, located in a Chevron gas station (by the way, count me in with that kind of sales pitch. That's my kind of place). Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. You have to kind of root around for a "secret menu," as this place also fronts as a fried chicken/Cajun joint, in addition to, you know, selling gasoline. The secret menu was a little confusing as far as what was included, so I had to a la carte some items that I thought were included. The food was OK, but I've definitely had better Indian meals. A potential detractor to the experience was the true crime series playing on a TV in front of my face showing several female victims of a serial murderer being toted off in body bags. Just doesn't really go with chicken tikka. Also, there was heavy cigarette smoke coming from somewhere inside the gas station. In summary, this was every bit as bizarre an experience as you might expect from the phrase "gas station Indian meal." Just not one I care to repeat. read more

I'm stuck between a 3.5/4... lets say the first time i came I thought I ordered chicken tikka masala apparently they don't even sell that and just gave me chicken tikka lol I was a bit confused but realized the misunderstanding. It was good but I felt waiting 15 minutes was a little long. Sitting there is not really a good idea if you are not comfortable around smoke. I smell smoke coming from somewhere and that just kind of ruined my meal. Another thing I noticed that made me do a double take was seeing a man put ice into his machine. He just used his bare hands to put the ice in and to me, its not sanitary. Came back just today to try their kahari gosht which is kinda like goat curry, excuse my poor explanation of what it is lol It is spicy and flavorful. I was not pleased with how they contained my meal. They used a paper lid to cover my meal which basically absorbed a bit of my sauce and also some of the sauce spilled out (this was at the station) I guess they thought it was ok since they used foil to wrap the container lol iuno i would just use plastic containers, to me, that makes everything more clean. But this was good and i will probably come back, only for take out though. read more

Don't let the place turn you away from it, the Family Kitchen has some of the most authentic Pakistani food you'll find in Sugar Land. Okay let me just start off by telling you that I have been to tonsss of Indo/Pak restaurants and never came across one that is this good. I have been eating at this place for past 2 years now. Here's what you need to know: This family kitchen is located inside a Chevron Gas stations (TRUST ME DON'T GET TURNED off by that), it's located in awesome Sugar Land area with lots of lighting around. When you walk in, they have a nice small restaurant setup with Desi HDTV channels along with Gas station setting. It's kept very clean and very nice atmosphere. Now let's get back to the Food: I have friends in Clear Lake who travels all this way just to eat here because it's that damn good. Their Chicken Tikka Leg and Boti is to die for. I cannot stop containing myself from eating the Chicken Biryani. I eat it once every week. Their Kadahi Chicken is sooo good (little oily, but totally worth it), The bun kababs are awesome, the chicken kabab roll and seekh kabab rolls are really good. They also give their Dall rice combos with your choice of kababs such as seekh, chicken tikka boti, shami kabab etc. There's aloooot on their menu. Even if your not feeling Desi, they have authentic Mexican food made fresh for you, even if that's not what your in mood for, they've got really good fried chicken with biscuits/gravy etc. for you as well. BEST THING: They do not put any ARTIFICIAL flavors to their food, I hate those restaurants that puts those leafs and tons of masalas in their food to make it smell good but tastes like shit. This place doesn't do any of that, it's basically a home cooked meal by a professional with brilliant taste. Go try it yourself and see what I am talking about. So I'm literally here for the first time from the outside it's a gas station with a Krispy crunchy chicken sign. But wait there's more when you go inside you see that this are so many options from fried chicken to grill chicken Mexican food to halal it is so many options in this place I ordered the fish plate and when I received it oh my God it smelled so freaking good when I tasted it was even better this is a place that is a hole in a hole in a wall at a gas station but it is definitely worth a try read more

A little odd to be inside a Chevron where people are smoking and playing slot machines but besides that fact, we really liked this place. Service was friendly and fast. All the food we have tried has been really good. We have been twice now. Once we ordered to go for dinner and then tried the breakfast of halwa puri over the weekend. We have liked all of the food. Duhhhhhh they are made by Spanish ladies in the kitchen but they can't cook Ind/paki food!! Please let them make what they good at! I was surprised when I walked in and there wasn't any mention of Indian food. I ordered through the phone. I decided to try because of the reviews and price and boy was I surprised at how good their food is. I wouldn't go here for service but the food is astoundingly delicious and cheap. Don't judge the place by its location! This place knows how to serve good take out food! Great chicken boti "kabob " with the combo of daal fry! Not your ordinary lentil daal...this daal had a very good taste which was great with the rice they gave. The quantity was perfect in my point of view more than enough rice ! And salad was fresh unlike other places that give old lettuce leaves and strong smelling onions. Pricing is reasonable and location is inside the gas station it's better to call ahead! These are the most dishonest, disrespectful and racist people in Sugar Land. I was there on Wednesday as they were open and serving old meat tacos that were black. Charged me 14.75 for 2 tacos and 2 uncooked samosas. There was no choice because of weather. When I asked for receipt, none was given and did not want to come down on price. There were a few african American and Mexicans there too. There were being referred as kallan and mexa (Derogatory) Wish these folks could be fined and sent out of buisness. Absolutely terrible customer service!! We waited 40 minutes for an order that was supposed to take half that time. When I went up to ask if the order was ready at 20 minutes, the owner tried to make it seem like I was being hasty and told me to sit down and wait. While we were waiting, they somehow managed to serve 3 customers and give them their food. We ordered chicken for goodness sake! It shouldn't have taken them that long! At 40 minutes, we just got up and left. The owner saw us and didn't even bother to apologize or tell us to wait a little bit longer. On top of that, the place is not clean AT ALL! The workers should have also been wearing gloves and clearly weren't. So maybe it's a good thing we didn't get our food. In the past, they've managed to screw up our order on the phone and that of some of my friends, so you have to confirm at least twice. The last time they did this, the owner again tried to put the blame on us. Not cool. Do yourself a favor and please go somewhere else! read more

Don't let the fact that this restaurant is in a gas station fool you. The food here is ridiculously delicious! I was passing by one day and was craving some good ol' Indian food and decided to check this place out. I ordered the chicken boti with naan and it was out of this world. Easily the best I've EVER had. The chicken was SO tender and fresh and the flavor was pure perfection. It was even garnished with fresh cilantro (which I love) and served with raita. I've been to tons of Indian restaurants in my lifetime but nothing has beaten this - the taste + awesome price make this place a massive hit for me. You should def check it out if you're in the area - you won't be disappointed! The owner is also very nice and friendly so that's always a plus. read more
