Taste was ok. Portion size was disappointing especially for the price. I was craving some good ol' bbq the other night. So I went to Grubhub and saw famous Dave's. I ordered some burnt ends and the Mac n' cheese balls When the food arrived, it smelled amazing and I was ready to dig in. However I opened the to go container to find 11 measly pieces of brisket in on top of 10 French fries.... And I paid $23.99 for this?! The burnt ends were tasty, don't get me wrong, and quite tender and flavorful, but not $23.99 tasty. Their website says the burnt end appetizer is $19.99, however in Grubhub I was Charged $23.99 before delivery fees, driver benefits and service fees. The Mac n cheese bites were $15.59 and were decently tasty, Maybe I have to go in person and see if the portions for the burnt ends are any better? Needless to say I found myself quite disappointed (and hungry) after my order. For $50 dollars (after tip) I expect to be reasonably satisfied, not looking for a second dinner read more

So good, was definitely an indulgence for sure. I loved the ribs, corn bread and fries the most. The family meal was hella good ~$140 for BBQ and it was eye opening. This place seems similar to a roadhouse kind of setting. Decent traffic. There are Togo and sports bar around. The waiting for food on a weekday evening is a bit long. We waited around 1 hr to get our food and we are not sure if this is just out of the stove. For the food, they are mostly breaded or fried. We've had dinner take out here before, but this latest time we went, we just ordered dessert take out, so I'll restrict this current review to my take out order of 6 large chocolate chip cookies for $9.95. The cookies are quite big, as you can see. I was actually trying to figure out the number of calories in one of these cookies, because the app says 150 calories, and that most certainly can't be true - not even close. So I weighed a couple of cookies, and they're about 105-110g, which for a typical CCC would be about 550 calories. Maybe you didn't want to know that, but too late, you read this and now you know. But they're very fine cookies. I don't get any mass produced, store-bought vibe from these. At the same time, they're too uniform and similar to each other to get a homemade vibe, but all I know is they go great with milk when warmed up to just-out-of-the-oven levels. Lots of small semi-sweet chocolate chips. Cookie isn't chewy, but is fairly soft when warmed up on the first day or two. As good as they are, we take a few days to eat them, and by Day 4, they do start to stay a bit hard even when warmed. Not the fault of Famous Dave's - we just take longer to eat them. And 6 for $10, that's a great deal. Just a little over $1.50 each, which is wonderful value when you consider that Subway cookie is probably less than half the weight and only a little cheaper. I'll update the review next time we have BBQ here, but it's pretty good too! read more

My favorite part of famous Dave's is their cornbread and beans. The barbecue is mediocre at best, but slather it in enough sauce and it'll manage for a quick fix. Sometimes the wait can be longer than usual but it can be due to being understaffed. Even if you are seated it does take some time to get your food, where you'll potentially lose your appetite just because you waited so long. read more

We always love coming to this bbq restaurant the food is always great! Some of the food can be a little hard on the stomach if your elderly only the potato salad really, but everything else was almost melt in your mouth, fall off the bone meat with tons of flavor their sauces are also delicious I especially love the iced tea. I have especially high standards for service, so for me the service was just ok or decent, but for my best friend the lady who assisted us was wonderful! Which tells me the service here is excellent by most people's standards if my friend thought so. The ambiance is a little loud but calm, you can still hear each other talk with no problem while eating your food, the booths are also incredibly comfortable and you just sink into them! Came here for lunch at opening time, 11am. The dining area appeared clean on first glance, but closer inspection of the bbq sauce bottles show a definite lack of cleanliness. The refillable bbq sauce bottles on the table were mostly empty and had not been cleaned properly (see picture). We placed our orders and received the food at least 45min later! Wow. I can't imagine how long the wait would be if it were actually busy! I ordered a Caesar salad. The salad was good sized but was not tossed with the dressing, which is normally how a Caesar salad is served. The flavor was just ok, without a traditional Caesar flavor. Clearly not fresh in any way. Looked like it came in frozen and pre sliced. No texture (like good brisket should have) Potatoes were instant and the Cole slaw had zero flavor. Been to many Famous Daves but this one is very cozy and comfortable. Quick and not super expensive - a favorite restaurant of mine. In Alameda the new Famous Daves is a bit cold and tall ceilings - I like it - but this one has a very different feel. A bit darker and more intimate somehow. Warmer lights - I don't even remember the types - but very very comfortable. I remember likely booth seating around the perimeter and lots of space - we could talk to one another and not hear neighbors very much. Some odd music choice played - but why not try something different than the normal garbage you listen to? Food here was exactly like at any other restaurant of the same name. We sat near the vault where they keep the secret recipes. Don't ask me how to make this stuff. Server was very very pleasant. She didn't fuss over us but was very attentive.
