My favorite part of famous Dave's is their cornbread and beans. The barbecue is mediocre at best, but slather it in enough sauce and it'll manage for a quick fix. Sometimes the wait can be longer than usual but it can be due to being understaffed. Even if you are seated it does take some time to get your food, where you'll potentially lose your appetite just because you waited so long.

I ordered Famous Dave's for dinner last night while I was at work. I had the 2 meat special and chose roast chicken and brisket. It came with two sides and I chose Mac n cheese and garlic mash. I will say the flavorrrrr....the flavor of the meat....it was seasoned extremely well. The portion size however is where they lost me. It looks like I got one strip of brisket cut up into 4 pieces ...the Mac n cheese was terrible. Super runny and had corn and celery in it. Like whatttt that isn't bbq! Whoever made that smack n no please is NOT invited to the cookout!. The garlic mash was decently flavored but, the cornbread was a hit!

Ordered the 2 grill combo. Enough to feed 2. Everything in large portions and hot. Brisket was lean, not fatty. Rib tips were fatty and meaty. Corn, broccoli, pickles and yellow cake. The sauce tastes like a 3:1 mix of Frank's & Baby Ray's. Zero smoke flavor.

My first time here and I really liked Famous Dave's Delicious sandwich and amazing service

    Yummy

Great food really liked the service. Food was tasty and filling. The cornbread is to die the place is cozy and inviting. Homey feel for the family.

Walked in and was instantly surrounded by the richest scent of barbecue (which only strengthened the bbq cravings). Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. The food came out in a very timely matter + was very VERY delicious. :P

As a first timer at famous Dave's, I am happy to say I will be returning. Service was great, food was amazing and portions were enough!

We always love coming to this bbq restaurant the food is always great! Some of the food can be a little hard on the stomach if your elderly only the potato salad really, but everything else was almost melt in your mouth, fall off the bone meat with tons of flavor their sauces are also delicious I especially love the iced tea. I have especially high standards for service, so for me the service was just ok or decent, but for my best friend the lady who assisted us was wonderful! Which tells me the service here is excellent by most people's standards if my friend thought so. The ambiance is a little loud but calm, you can still hear each other talk with no problem while eating your food, the booths are also incredibly comfortable and you just sink into them! Overall great food, excellent service, and awesome ambiance . If want great bbq in San Jose this is hands down a great place to go. Cheers!

Came here for lunch at opening time, 11am. The dining area appeared clean on first glance, but closer inspection of the bbq sauce bottles show a definite lack of cleanliness. The refillable bbq sauce bottles on the table were mostly empty and had not been cleaned properly (see picture). We placed our orders and received the food at least 45min later! Wow. I can't imagine how long the wait would be if it were actually busy! I ordered a Caesar salad. The salad was good sized but was not tossed with the dressing, which is normally how a Caesar salad is served. The flavor was just ok, without a traditional Caesar flavor. Other people in my group reported dry meat, cold fries, and poor sandwiches. Would not return!

Went there at 2/3pm on a Sunday, sat in the bar area. Servers were really attentive. Food came out hot and fresh. Meat was a littttttttle dry, but just a little. The bbq sauce on the table made up for it. Over all, enjoyed the meal. Our little girl we had with us was feeling picky and ended up not wanting the Mac and cheese we ordered her and the servers were nice enough to swap it for mini corn dogs with adding it to the bill. Loved the staff. Thanks guys.

Ribs came dry as a bone. I ordered the ribs with the sauce and they were so dry. The corn side was bland no butter or salt in sight.

Hey there party People…read more Decided to venture into Willow Glen today on the hunt for something new to try. Boy howdy did we hit the Mother Load with "The Table". We hit the Brunch hour and the place was rocking. We were able to sit right down amazingly. There is a fabulous patio to people watch and enjoy the California weather. Our server Charles was really great. He walked us through the menu giving us the 911 on watch to order. Most of the plates were perfect shareable bites. Making it easy to try multiple plates and really get your inner Foodie on. We started with the Seasonal Banana Pancakes with crushed walnuts and cinnamon maple syrup. Inside the pancakes were fresh bananas and the walnuts were crushed very small but added a great texture. Moving on to the Chicago Steak sandwich don't get confused but in Chicago they refer to Roast Beef as steak. The Au Jus dip was very flavorful without being a salt bomb. Loved the potato roll they used all round a killer sandwich. Going a little outside the box we tried the Jerk Chicken Sandwich. The pineapple slaw with this amazing peppery chutney type sauce played so well with the acid of the pineapple. Another must have sandwich. I ask you how can you go to a new restaurant and not have some dessert. With everything else being so good our expectations were pretty high and we were not disappointed. The Giant Profiterole is exactly that GIANT and stuffed with White Chocolate Gelato and Hot Chocolate Sauce that you can drizzle over the top. To fricken die for good. If you are in Willow Glen and you don't stop here you are missing out on something wonderful. Be kind to one another

When we were seated, we were given a list of items that were not available. I originally wanted to try the pancakes but ended up ordering the chicken sandwich instead. This was genuinely one of the worst chicken sandwiches I have ever had. It was extremely gristly, fatty, and made with dark meat, which felt like an odd choice for a chicken sandwich. I'm not sure why this cut of chicken was used. The fries were alright, but they did not come with the sandwich and cost an additional $5. Our total came to almost $90 for three entrees with no beverages. I was especially frustrated because my sandwich was inedible. For the price and quality, I will not be returning and would not recommend this place.

On my 4th attempt, I decided to have an early dinner which we made it in before the dinner rush. We ordered their some of their appetizer, a wood fire pizza, and 2 prime ribs. Everything kind of just came at once so be prepared to be rushed to eat things quickly if you want to eat it while its hot and fresh. I personally would have wished it were paced out a bit better so that our table could converse a bit more naturally and snack while at it. The food was all pretty good. We got the broccolini and it was a bit tender. If you have elderly folks at the table or folks with a bit more sensitive teeth, this may not be the right item on the menu. The pizza was pretty good but the bottom was a a bit charred. Overall, the atmosphere was more on the dark, moody, romantic vibes. I think it would have hit this if it weren't for it being a bit too noisy with the staff running around and music blasted.

Just never got around to working a review before. Went early on a Saturday evening recently and was surprised to not have to wait. We split a Bibb lettuce salad that was simple, refreshing and perfect. A tiny pea fritter was the very definition of a small bite, and while it wasn't what I expected, it was crisp and tender. Grilled artichoke was one of the best I have ever had. (Just wish they had been explicit on the menu that it was a half a grilled artichoke). Cocktails were up to their usual high standard -- rye Manhattan for the BF and clarified milk punch for me. I don't get out much these days and I rarely drink alcohol, but is $20 a lot for a cocktail? Or is that normal now? They were great though. BF got the ribeye with morels, which was perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender. I had the burger, which was more exciting than it sounds, dressed with a wild combo of veggies, cheese and bacon while still managing to be harmonious and fresh tasting. Side of fries were crisp and tasty, though not as perfectly hot as I would ideally wish. Because the burger was late coming out, or server (Bernardo I think?) comped us an amazing little dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt, along with the butterscotch pudding that we ordered. The pudding didn't have the strong butterscotch flavor that I hoped for, but the vanilla ice cream stole the dessert show. OCK isn't a place I can afford often, but I still really like it. I appreciate the creativity of the dishes, the quality ingredients, and the bar. And the old-school shopping center vibe of the Pruneyard is low key festive and garden-like. The interior of the restaurant is kind of standard-industrial modern, but nicely so. Oh, and their glassware is super nice.

She was attentive but not overbearing and gave great recommendations. Even if the food was not good, we would still come back because she made it such a pleasant experience. Thankfully the food is also amazing. I have always been addicted to the triple B and the KFC so I was nervous when I tried the new versions recently. I enjoyed them both more than I had previously. The triple B was smaller but the biscuit had much more flavor, depth and was more pillowy. The KFC had always been my favorite and the new version did not change that at all. The chicken was much juicier, and it had a lot more substance. The chicken pieces were thicker and the sauce was delicious. It's reminiscent of a chicken and waffle dish because I believe the sauce has some sort of maple syrup. The dishes have changed but I'm a huge fan of the change. I will continue to come here and I am glad to see that this place doesn't seem to want to stop getting better.

I ordered the crab melt because I was curious, and it wasn't bad, but just kind of like a crab cake that didn't have much crab in it on a sandwich. It had avocado and cheese, was tasty, but I didn't taste much of the crab. I did like how you could get soup, salad, or fries as the side, and the side salad was really nice. Service was a little random, waitress walked by our empty water glasses a few times before I asked for more water. Also, one of the busboys was dropping stuff on the floor. Maybe this was meant to be a slapstick thing? Just seemed a little sloppy/disorganized. Interior is nice. Lots of parking nearby. I think if I was in the mood for breakfast for dinner, this is a higher quality option than IHOP.
