Famous Dave's BBQ is a chain of restaurants specializing in American barbecue. We tried a variety of their offerings in the Three Meat Combo, including the juicy, pleasantly chewy Tri Tip, Burnt Ends (fatty chunks of brisket in a sticky sauce), and my favorite, the Southside Rib Tips (lean, tender, meaty pork ribs served with sauce on the side). The plate also came with crusty toasted white bread, pickled onions/cucumbers, sweet cornbread, and a choice of two sides. We had Dave's Cheesy Mac & Cheese (which included corn in the grainy cheese sauce) and Wilbur Beans (baked beans in a sweet tomato-based sauce mixed with chopped meat and sausages). Overall, the food here was rather average--the barbecue sauces, cornbread, and beans were all extremely sweet, and the service was slow and inattentive. I had lunch for the first time at Famous Dave's in Alameda, CA. I ordered the 4 ribs lunch... I was very disappointed. The ribs were dry/hard. I contacted Famous Dave's Customer Service to ask if they reserve their meats that were not ordered the day/night before to serve the next day. I received a roundabout answer without a direct answer to my question. I decided to try Famous Dave's again after contacting their Customer Service. I ordered the brisket this time and, again, was disappointed. I have never had a diced BBQ brisket. The sandwich was mixed with tender and hard, dried meat. I will never eat at any Famous Dave's again. The service was very good and fast because the restaurant only had 6 to 8 customers both times I ate there between Noon and 2:00 PM. read more

I went there last night paid $49.19 for the worst food I've ever tasted. I wanted a three meat combo but they said it will not include the ribs like what so I ordered the two piece combo. The brisket was OK. The portion was small. I only receive three slice pieces. The ribs I was disappointed with I received three hard end pieces that was burnt so I fed it to my dog. We ordered through Doordash for Father's Day and when the food arrived, we were very unimpressed by the portion size for what we paid. It was $110+ for our order and we got the family meal and an order of burnt ends. The burnt ends looked like it was a side order since it was so small, but we paid $21 for it! I think there was about 8oz of burnt ends in the box. I was craving something BBQ for Father's Day and this did not satisfy both in taste nor in portion for price. read more

absolutely amazing! this was some of the best service i've had probably ever! famous Brittany went above and beyond! not only was she super kind to my daughter but she also was on top of everything from refilling our drinks, to quick food service to making sure everything was up to our standard. She even was courteous enough to make sure we were okay with giving our small daughter crayons to play with. Her smile and work ethic shined bright. To whomever owns this establishment please give her a raise!! I was craving for some barbecue and I had a craving for Dave's Bar B Que. I had no time to do an order pick up, so I placed an order on a food delivery app. I ordered the Feast For Two platter. This platter included Georgia chopped pork, Fries, sweet corn, mac and cheese, bbq chicken, cornbread and ribs. The ribs and chicken were juicy, tender and full of flavor. The corn tasted fresh, buttery, and sweet. Fries were crispy and soft. Chopped pork was tender. Cornbread was soft and delicious. And the mac and cheese was cheesy and good. We finally tried this place after hearing so many good things about it and unfortunately I thought it was overhyped. We came here for lunch on a Sunday and we got seated right away. After we got seated, it took our server about 25 minutes to acknowledge us and take our order. Other tables were waiting for their servers as well. We ordered the feast for 2 for $49.99, it comes with St. Louis Ribs, Country Roasted Chicken, choice of brisket or pork (we got brisket). You also get coleslaw, fries, beans, corn, and corn bread muffins. All the meats, except the chicken, tasted really salty and the all the sides was cold. Family and I went to this location on Thanksgiving Day. They were open until about 5pm. The inside was fairly empty, but the pick up line for to-go orders was super long. We were seated very quickly and the service was quick. Our server also check up on us often and was friendly. My family and I ended up getting the All-American BBQ Feast, which can feed up to 6 people. This worked out great for us! It comes with: A full slab of St. Louis-Style Spareribs, a whole Country-Roasted Chicken, 1/2 lb. of either Texas Beef Brisket or Georgia Chopped Pork, Creamy Coleslaw, Famous Fries, Wilbur Beans, Sweet Corn and Corn Bread Muffins. We got the Beef Brisket and opted for the Mac and Cheese instead of the Creamy Coleslaw. Their BBQ sauces are all good and you have three options to choose from. The food was good. The only thing is that the ribs are often hit and miss. I know because we also cater from this location at work. Sometimes they are off the bone and other times it's difficult to eat. It was super quiet on a Tuesday night! My fiancé and I were surprised to see how they are able to survive their business with empty tables and bar. Doordash and ubereats must keep them alive and thriving. The food was yummm. Don't expect the best possible, but it satisfied the craving just fine. Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que was one of the rib cookers at the Nugget Ribfest in 2019 where they finished in fifth place. I'm extremely disappointed at management. I came with my family of 8 and we were told we couldn't sit together because of covid and had to sit at separate tables. I asked to be seated on a big half table that sits 9 to 10 people and they said no. What's the point of having a big table for large groups if they're going to say you can't sit together. This is so stupid for management/corporate to do this. If you in the same household you do not need to be separated. All other restaurants we've been to during this fake pandemic don't do this. They did the same to a family of 9 that walked in a few minutes later. This is more of a famous Dave's covid regulations. They seriously need to get rid of it. A little feedback for famous daves. I was in there Wednesday night and had a wonderful experience with Brittany. She is such an amazing server but I was a little concerned. Wow! How could Famous Dave's go further downhill? The short of it: Save your money! This place is a blatant ripoff. I reviewed this place twice before, once shame on you - twice, shame on me.... three times I'm an idiot for the 3rd chance. The place was empty at lunchtime on a Saturday. That says something in itself. I sat at the bar... the bar was rough looking compared to the last time I was there. It was dirty and marked up. No one greeted me when I walked in... and I sat at the bar alone for a couple minutes before I was approached. I have ordered the manhandler previously... when it was about 13 bucks. It's a hamburger type bun with brisket, 2 slices of a hot link, and 2 pickles. It now costs 16.99 - a deal compared to everything else on the menu. The bun was cold and crumbly... there was 2 slivers of hot links... and fat piled in the center of the sandwich where I wouldn't have seen it had I not inspected the sandwich. Shrinkflation is in play here when it arrived it was noticeably smaller than the last time I ate one. Also I feel the cook was a calculated form of shady. They buried brisket fat in the sandwich in such a way that felt sneaky. The brisket was mostly fat... 20 dollars for this? SERIOUSLY?!!!!! How is this place allowed to stay in business? And you in the red shirt - you sir have been here years... all through my miserable experiences. You have done nothing to improve this place. What do you even do besides walk around and look confused? The manager that did come speak with me was a nice woman - I expressed my disappointment to her... she offered to remake my meal. I didn't have the time so I said no - that I would just like her to correct the cook on the issue. She did reduce the cost of my meal by 30% - after I tipped the waitress 5 bucks (because she was good and it was not her fault) it still costs 20 bucks. Left feeling ripped off yet again. I said "Never again" in my last review... I mean it this time... save your money. Famous Dave's sucks. Again, I was the only person there... half way through my trash sandwich a gentleman walked in and stood there for 5 minutes. Staff was most likely in back talking about my complaint. My family enjoyed the food from here when takeout and delivery was hot and fresh. Favorites were the brisket, ribs, country-style chicken, fries, and cornbread muffins. But it's kind of random on whether or not the meat will be super fresh or if it will be on the dry side and possibly reheated. I understand that they could run out of something or some of the meat might not be ready, but consistency would definitely bring them up a star. I would also say that the food was definitely on the sweeter side, especially the baked beans, but we'd still order from here again when we're craving BBQ. Tried the rib tips and burnt ends today with delivery and I must say that the burnt ends were so tender and so good, the only thing I disliked was the extremely small portion for what I paid for it. The rib tips however was a mix of tender pieces and some super dry ones, the only saving grace were the bbq sauce packets that came with it; that smokey flavor combined with the tangy aftertaste was just right. Also I kinda ordered like 30 mins before closing so that probably could've made a difference to the meat quality? Definitely wasn't the delivery time though since I live a few blocks away. Minus 2 stars for the price and the mixed meat quality. Overall decent experiences. Would probably order some of the other meats and maybe try to order earlier to see if there's a difference read more
