I think something is seriously wrong at this location. Visited on a Saturday close to opening time for lunch before attending a huge country Festival nearby. We ordered lunch combinations and happy hour drinks. We didn't get any silverware we had to ask for it. The waiter seemed new but he tried really hard. But he would disappear for long times and someone else would come. The rib tips were very salty. The best thing was the corn muffin and the waiter heated up the butter so that was a huge Plus. We both got brisket and it was tough on mine and my dinner companion said his was okay. The chicken was good. The rib tips were old chewy and dry alike beef jerky. My dinner companion is convinced that the ribs were reheated from the night before. We weren't expecting an extravagant meal but we were expecting the food to be much better. The happy hour was great and for some reason we plan to come back again after the festival later at night to get a snack. Well we returned and are questioning to ourselves why we did so after the first experience. We ordered loaded chips that were inedible. They had grated cheese, cheese sauce and lettuce and tomato on top of overly salted barbecue chips. The cheese sauce was cold. I don't know who serves a dish with cheese sauce and serves it cold. We ordered wings and something was off about those, we didn't even finish eating them. The soda didn't taste like Diet Pepsi it tasted like Dr Pepper. The first glass came with ice the second glass came with four cubes of ice that quickly melted and the soda was flat. The bathroom was a disaster area. I didn't take a picture of the can it's a serving can that they put tje chips came in. When I removed the paper the chips were on and lifted it out, the inside of the container was red rusted and smelled like lemon cleaner. I didn't take a picture of it but I still can't believe that they have something that looks like that using as a serving platter. People were not eating their food. Plates were going back half full. The reviews are accurate. The best thing eaten was the banana pudding which was too sweet and clearly not homemade, and the corn muffins which probably come frozen and are reheated. Wanted to try this restaurant for a while and my experience was okay. Went on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm waiting time was about 25mins for a table. They have lots of tvs playing sports and music in the background. The restaurant didn't look pack but the time between the waiter passing by was long. Once we were seated it took 10 mins before the server finally came to get us drinks and by that time we were already ready to place our order as well. I got a strawberry margarita and a Dr Pepper, the drinks took just as long to come out, but they were good. As far as the food I order from the lunch menu which came with choice of 3 meats and a side (ribs, brisket, chicken wings, & mac and cheese). The food was good, I enjoyed the different barbecue flavors, I thought the Mac and cheese was strange because it has corn in it and it tasted just like the corn bread they serve with your meal. Ordered the full rack of st. Louis ribs. A little drier than ribs from Lucilles but it might be St. louis style. The ribs had a great wood fire smoke taste that Lucille's does not have. The sauces (4 total) were good to lather. The devil's spit is Really spicy. Like actually burns your tongue to the point you can enjoy the ribs. And I love spicy. Would not recommend to anyone. Our waiter was nice but got 3 of our orders wrong & one of us was left without food until everyone was basically done eating. There was a change in the environment with how the other waiters/waitresses were acting towards us after that. Cherry on top was we waited awhile to get our parking tickets validated & all 3 of us went to pay our passes & they didn't validate any of them so we all had to pay full price. I tried calling before this review & no one answered the phone. Terrible customer service. Waitresses had a terrible attitude too. In response to management: I appreciate the prompt response. I do want to make it clear that our waiter corrected the mistakes when they were addressed with regard to the orders. The change in atmosphere & then the waitresses (hostesses) at the front were what really pushed us to review. We could deal with a few missteps but changing how we were treated because of errors your other colleagues made is absolutely wrong. After getting our parking tickets "validated" & then walking all the way back to the garage & finding out they weren't was horrible. I ordered online and walked over to pick it up from my hotel. The location is nice, right on the Long Beach waterfront near the convention center. The service wasn't good, I stood at the front for at least five minutes before anyone noticed me. When I finally got service, they got my food, dropped it on the podium, said have a nice day and walked away. Very little effort to build rapport with a customer. I've never eaten at Famous Dave's before so I got a pulled chicken sandwich with fries, a side of "Texas Brisket," and a side of their mac and cheese. The chicken sandwich was ok, and the barbecue sauce was decent. I actually liked that portion, although the bun was.....weird? It almost had an odd texture like it was frozen and then just dethawed. It was soft, but it wasn't hard either. The "Texas Brisket" was an abomination. No flavor, didn't seem like it had ever seen a smoker. It tasted like it was baked and looked about the same. I ate one piece and threw the rest away. The mac n cheese had corn in it which was odd. It was almost as if they used cream of corn and threw macaroni in. The worst service I've received in years. Our first server, Nikki, was rude from the start: short, irritated, and clearly unhappy to take our order. She messed it up while entering it, then had to come back twice to confirm. Shortly after, she went on break and left us with Sebastian. At first he seemed helpful, but that quickly changed. There were only three tables seated in the entire restaurant, maybe 10 customers total, yet our food took 40 minutes to arrive--and when it finally did, everything was cold. The corn, beans, brisket and mashed potatoes... not hot, not warm--completely cold. How does that even happen with so few customers? We told Sebastian, and while he offered to replace the sides, we were already starving and didn't want to wait another 40 minutes. When the manager came over, his attitude made us feel like we were complaining for no reason. He offered a discount, which I appreciated, but that wasn't the point. The entire experience was awful - cold food, long waits, and staff who clearly don't care. All three employees we interacted with should not be working in customer service. After watching BBQ showdown on TV, we decided to go get some BBQ. And what better place than Famous Dave's. It was a nice day so we sat out in the patio. We had the 59. Cent wings, and we got the 3 meat lunch combo. Combined we had BBQ chicken, St Luis pork ribs, burnt ends and sweet water catfish. As for our sides we had corn on the cob and baked beans. The star of the meal was the sweet water catfish ( it was GOOD) the wings were the next favorite. ( and for 59 cents?!? You can't beat that) Everything else was also good, the brisket was tender along with the burnt ends( however the burnt ends had alittle to much salt but with a dash of sauce fixed that right up) the waitress was good no complaints she was as very busy and told us she was relatively new. read more

I got the combo. It was a decent price, but the portions seems small. They portions look bigger than they are because they might sit on slice of bread. But once you take the bread away the protein portion was on the small side. The turkey was flavorful. The chicken was good, better than I would have expected at a BBQ place. The server suggested the mac and cheese. And it was very good. I am not a huge mac and cheese fan, but this macaroni and cheese had some excellent flavor. I was very disappointed in the ribs. We had lunch here today and were pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was great. She was prompt without being overbearing. The food was good. My husband had the smoked prime rib with the St Louis Ribs. It was beyond good. His sides were Cole slaw and some sort of homemade potato chips. To me they were just ok. The meat though, I was totally jealous I had the Korean chicken strips. They were ok, but nothing I would order again. My sides were corn and fries. The corn was those frozen half cobs and the fries were ok, nothing special. I made the mistake of thinking this was a stand alone restaurant, but it must be a franchise. Our server was awesome, but the pulled pork and the brisket were dry. The potatoes salad tasted like it was from Costco, and for me the most disappointing thing was the mac and cheese. The flavor was good because it had spicy peppers in it, but it was a bit cold. 3rd day in after recently opening again. Background, Famous Dave's closed down pre-COVID. Another BBQ place open in its place and closed post-COVID. Now November 2022, Famous Dave's is BACK! They are planning on a Grand Re-opening January 2023 (the restaurant is open now). My coworker and I walked in for lunch, the inside looked as if Famous Dave's never closed down. Same BBQ decor, same yummy BBQ and awesome service. Our waiter "Famous Tay" was super good. Checked on us a lot and always had our beverages full. No one got what they ordered, my daughter didn't get her chicken sandwich until we were almost about to leave and it was dry and stale. Then as we were walking away from the restaurant one of the RACIST servers tells another customer we sat by as he was busting the table we sat at "of course they didn't give us a tip but wanted all their meals comp." My sister ordered a salad that had a live bug in her lettuce, my wife ordered brisket and received all fat pieces that were not edible. I ordered brisket also that never came out. We were fans of Famous Dave's before it became Q's Smokehouse, now it's Famous Dave's again. Well then! We've always enjoyed whenever we dine at this location. Good eats at surprisingly reasonable prices, given their location. My son and I shared the Founder's Feast combo, definitely enough for the both of us. The chicken was the standout, very tasty and moist. The three ribs were also really good, good flavor that was tender, but still had some texture. My son enjoyed the pulled pork, I was distracted by the white bread toast but that's my bias against white bread. The sides were quite good, we were especially pleased with the baked beans. They were delayed with the cornbread muffins, so they gave us an extra muffin to thank us for our patience. Very nice of them, and very good muffins!
