Might be good for dine but take out not so much. 2 dishes and an appetizer for almost $60 seemed a bit pricey but gave them the benefit of the doubt and figured the quality and taste would be worth it. It certainly was not, we had to add our own sauce to a shrimp dish because it had basically no flavor. I ordered beef fried rice and nearly cracked my tooth on the first bite which had pieces of shell from a lobster, I'm don't even wan to know how that got into a rice dish. I have been passing by the place for years. The Asian place in the old diner. I finally went there the other night and was seated right away. Sitting in a booth in the back, we looked over the menu. Drink orders were taken. We decided to share some gyoza and an order of fried oysters. They were standard, but who doesn't love a fried oyster. For dinner, we shared a few rolls and an order of tropical mango chicken. The rolls were good. With those, it all depends on preference and what you order. The mango chicken was okay. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with it. It was just kind of meh. Overall, I was full. The prices weren't bad. The waiter was professional and attentive. The food was overall good. I probably won't be back, but I wouldn't tell others not to go. It is a good place, but I have several I prefer. read more

Very disappointed, I liked the diner like atmosphere, but the sushi rolls were all basically the same but with different names, the fried oysters were hard little balls heavily fried, nothing felt light or refreshing and the Uni was bitter, to top it off I ordered dessert and they forgot a dessert but charged me for it, I went with my daughter and a small Sushi dinner was $130. Extremely friendly family owned restaurant. The atmosphere feels like a bar that is dark and relaxing. The owners are very friendly and ,unless you are introverted, be prepared to have a full on conversation while you eat. I have never met such an open kind of place where everyone seems to know everyone. This place is great for bday dinners or catching up with friends, however not for a regular night where you want to just grab something quick on the go. The price is high for similar food you can find elsewhere. The only difference that makes this restaurant unique is the fusion of several types of Asian food. Most people cannot tell the difference between Asian foods, they think everything is Chinese or everything is Korean. This place is a mixture of 3: Chinese, Thai and Japanese. Again the price is just too high, and there were no happy hour specials. The pad Thai I ordered gave me a stomach ache so if I do come back next time I probably get something else. I've been here at least a 1/2 a dozen times and each time is PERFECT! a little something for everyone in the family that wants Asian cuisine whether it's sushi, thai, traditional chinese or even american food!!! it's hard to tell what you might get walking in, since it's a re-done old diner car, and WOW - I love that little sample snack they give you after you sit down!!! I go for the clay pot beef just about every single time and I can't stop raving about it. Last time there I opted for getting the General Tao's chicken which of course was delicious! Great bartender who makes a strong zombie. Perfect & fresh sushi. Fancy Lee is one of the Asian restaurants in the area. I am VERY picky and its clean and the food is so incredible. I will say it is a bit pricey. We always wind up spending a stupid amount of money on dinner for the two of us and barely getting anything. But if your feeling like splurging get it! It's very good. I like this spot, looks like an OG diner so you def won't miss it right on Mtk Hwy. I've been here a bunch of times even though it's not my go to, it never disappoints when I do dine in. They have a really fun selection of rolls and different things (get the zombie wrap) to choose from. Love their little bento lunch box! It comes with a lot of food for a good price.. you get edamame, a little roll (4piece) your main selection of hibachi, and rice... it's quite nice and lets you taste a bit of everything if you really can't decide... shumai is typical like most places but still good.. their salmon was super silky today, very fresh and I really enjoyed it. Best sushi in Babylon! Freshest fish served by a kind waitstaff who provide an excellent experience. Fancy Lee is the only place I will eat sushi. Lee oversees every step of the meal and it is always delish! Perfect place to take friends cause you can get Japanese and Chinese at the same meal. This place is one of our favorite LI restaurants, and the only thing that they could do better is lower their prices. It's comparable to sushi restaurants in the city in terms of menu pricing, food quality, AND service, and dare I say that it has quite a few city places beat when it comes to presentation. And surprisingly, the chefs and staff aren't Japanese. My husband and I are regulars and we eat here about once a month. The head sushi chef (Mr. Lee) is personable and super skilled. We like sitting at the bar and watching him work, and sometimes we get special little extras for chatting with the chef. For example, he made us a special octopus roll that wasn't on the menu and we were totally hooked up. It was DELICIOUS! The food not only tastes amazing but looks like art! Case in point: I got the sashimi deluxe for dinner last night and it looked like a lighted masterpiece. (check out my photo of it) Note: if you get the hama hama oyster special it comes with quite a display too. We love the free fried crab leg appetizer that comes with every order (even with takeout!) and after trying every hot and cold appetizer and special roll, I don't think we've had a bad one yet. The duck salad, king salmon carpaccio, wasabi tuna dumplings, sushi pizza, zombie wrap, duck wrap... all are highly recommended apps. Notable rolls: White geisha and St. Patrick (my husband likes uncooked fish rolls). I've usually been getting the chirashi bowl or the sushi/sashimi special and we've never been let down. Even the caliber of the take out food is excellent, and the staff as always been polite and friendly. We've watched waiters be very very patient with some pickier patrons who came to a sushi place and didn't want anything raw. haha Some people don't like the look of the old school diner, but I think it fits in with the rest of the kitchy decor that's pretty common in random Asian restaurants. haha It's not trendy or sexy inside like Aji, but if you want flashy decor and head-pounding music, skip this place. I've been here twice, courtesy of my boyfriend because he lives within the area and him introducing me to this spot is probably one of the best things he's done. I love that they give a complimentary appetizer (I believe it's some sort of tempura crab or shrimp) and it's actually so good. I love the sauce they add to it. I've had two of their specialty rolls, sweet potato and shrimp tempura rolls and they're all delicious. The waiters are super sweet and very attentive as well. This place is very expensive but it's worth it. My husband and I come here for dinner occasionally. Since he discovered it with my brother-in-law we've been here about 3 or 4 times this year. From the outside this place looks like it was a diner, but don't let that fool you. The inside is hopping! Everything we've tried has been terrific. I am a fan of their phantom of the opera roll, because I'm obsessed with phantom of the opera. I'm a vegetarian though, so I had them modify the roll and make a vegetarian one so I could eat it. ABSOLUTELY LOVE FANCY LEE! Every time I have gone there I have nothing but great reviews. It's a super tiny place, but their food is out of this world! The little appetizer they give you is SO good! I usually order more of those. Usually I get the shrimp tempura roll, a peanut avocado roll, and the chicken fried rice. Those are my favorites, but I have had many different things and they're all very good. Definitely recommend this if you like sushi! Second best to Kotobuki in Babylon. Has a more Aji-vibe to it, with the special rolls and neon lights. I really like Fancy Lee, some rolls are over priced but the sushi itself is really consistent and really fresh. The servers are all over you, but in a good way! They let you modify anything here, which is big for me because I like to basically just invent all my own rolls. They have delicious wonton soup, not what you would expect. The best way to measure your opinion of a restaurant is to ask yourself whether you'd go back again. I am excited to go back to Fancy Lee to try more of their menu. Here is my first impression of the restaurant. From the outside, it looks like a small vintage diner. Inside, is a nice sushi restaurant with ambient lighting. It's actually bigger than I expected with a larger back room that can accommodate larger parties. Even though it was late and the hostess was sitting down for a staff meal, she immediately got up to greet us as soon as we walked in. Not too long after we sat down, we were greeted by an extremely friendly waiter who patiently took our order. I say patiently because even though I love sushi, I still don't know what half the stuff is on the menu. I'm an Italian guy from Long Island, what do you expect?! When you first sit down they bring you this lovely shrimp appetizer with a creamy sauce. I believe it is the fancy lee appetizer on the menu, and it is awesome. By comparison, Kotobuki down the block brings you slimy bland noodles. Just saying. Since those shrimp were so good we decided to ordered a rock shrimp appetizer, which was phenomenal. Seriously, order it. I ordered a special roll and my girlfriend ordered two standard rolls. The rolls were solid, nothing spectacular, but definitely high quality. I would like to go back and explore more of their menu because I didn't realize my roll was cooked. Usually, I like sushi rolls to be raw but like I said earlier I'm pretty effin clueless when it comes to Japanese food. Having said that, the one special roll filled me up so unless you're a beast, only order one with an app. It should be noted that they offer more than Japanese cuisine. There are Thai and Chinese options available as well. When it came to dessert, I was not impressed with the selection. The desserts are brought in from another company. I would have liked to see some fried ice cream or something made in house. When the bill came, I was pleasantly surprised. Very affordable for Babylon village. However, over the years they have raised their prices and the food quality has gone down and service is meh. Came here for lunch today because our usual, Ohayo, was closed and they said they don't offer the lunch special because of the holiday. Kinda strange. We ordered the 3 roll special and pad Thai to share. The servers were very rushed but the restaurant only had maybe 10 people in it. The sushi was very mediocre and didn't come with soup OR salad. Unlike every other place nearby. We weren't fans of the pad Thai, it was way too sweet and sticky and the noodles seemed like spaghetti. We also felt $17 is kinda pricy for pad Thai. If you spend over $30 I believe, you get a specialty roll that you can't buy which tastes amazing. I recommend this place to everyone I know. Sushi fanatic. This place is really special, vibrant atmosphere and pretty intimate. You get excited as soon as you walk into this diner exterior sushi spot. Asian fusion is the name of the game here. The service was excellent; they were pleasant and very timely. A complementary appetizer was served; it appeared to be some kind of crab meat wrapped in a thin paper with a spicy mayo? I love everything about sushi/Japanese food from its exotic flavors to its artistic presentation. I wasn't that hungry so I just got a basic green salad and the Treasure Island while my dad got something slightly more exciting, the 'Clay Pot'. Treasure Island is various kinds of tuna with salmon, avocado and roe. All of the fish was fresh. Looking for something light and satisfying, this totally did the job! The Clay Pot had an amazing ginger brown sauce and seasoning. I am really not into beef but this was outrageous. Took my mom and my son there today for lunch.nobody was in the restaurant, that should've been my first clue but we sat down and ordered our food. It wasn't very good and halfway through the meal my mom found a piece of chewed up gum on the bottom of her plate she lost her appetite couldn't finish her meal. We told the waitress and she came back a minute later with the check and offered us an appetizer. We were so disgusted we wouldn't eat another bite in that place! Coming from the city, it's really hard to find an asian restaurant that serves dishes better than the normal run of the mill, blah suburban usuals. Right when we sat down, they offered us a complimentary tasting of this amazing crab meat/creamcheese appetizer.
