I found this place on Yelp and saw it was just right across the street so I had to check it out. The guy at the counter was really nice and waited patiently as I looked at their menu. I decided to order the Combo #2 for take-out($13.95) of beef shish kabob and chicken shish kabob with rice, charbroiled tomato, salad and pita bread. Everything was pretty good. I was surprised they actually had a nice to go plate with a clear cover rather than the normal to go boxes. I liked the beef more than the chicken, each kabob had four pieces. The chicken was a little try and had too much lemon flavor for my tasting. Rice was ok too but I wish they had more. The one boo boo that they had was putting the pita bread underneath the kabobs. By the time I got home the pita bread was soggy from soaking up all the juices from the kabobs. The part of the pita bread that wasn't soggy was ok, I think they sprinkled some cinnamon on it. The place wasn't too busy and only had a few people in the restaurant. I decided to go with the beef koobideh which comes with a salad, rice and grilled tomato and jalapeno. The beef koobideh was juicy and tender. I really enjoyed the grilled tomato and jalapeno. I also liked how they gave you a salad here. At the other Persian restaurant that I went to, they did not give you a salad or the grilled jalapeno. I've been coming here for about 2 years, and really like supporting the small businesses. When you dine with small businesses, the service tends to be more intimate and you feel you're like family. I generally have a great meal at Fanoos, but on this past visit, the service was just ok. We came here on a Sunday evening at 6:30 pm, and the place was not busy so we got to sit whereever we wanted. A nice young guy followed us until we claimed a table, and placed our menus in front of us, and got our drink order. He came back twice to see if we were ready to order, and by the 2nd time, we did. I love Persian boneless chicken and I also like beef koubideh. Unfortunately they don't offer this combo, but they do have the Persian boneless by itself for $12.99. I asked if I could get that, plus a side order of Koubideh, which the guy thought was like $4.99. Fine. Sounds good. So I get my order, and it came out right. Beef koubideh, boneless chicken, buttery basmati rice, salad, grilled tomato, and a 1/2 grilled jalapeno?? Even though I pulled the jalapeno off my rice, the oils of the pepper lingered, burning my mouth as I ate the portion of the rice that touched the pepper. Aside from the burning rice, the food was good. While eating, I could not help comparing it to Peris Restaurant in Hawaiian Gardens (which I really liked). When the check came, the waiter charged us for the Soltani Plate at $18.99, subbing the chicken koubideh for the beef... only I didn't get the chicken kebob (breast meat). My boneless chicken was thigh. Now, I don't mind paying for the combo substitution charge, but I wished the guy could have TOLD us that was what he was doing, since when I ordered off the menu, I said I wanted the boneless chicken PLUS a side beef koubideh. During the meal, no one came to check on our food, or if things were ok. Food was good (not great), but I am disappointed in the service and the lack of communication the server failed to provide. We ordered the following dishes: Salmon Kabob - $16.95 Beef Koobideh - $10.95 Combo #2 Beef Shish Kabob & Chicken Shish Kabob - $14.95 All of them were served with basmati rice topped with saffron, charbroiled tomato, and green salad. I got the Salmon Kabob for the first time and I loved it! The salmon was big! I kept on dipping it with the salad dressing while eating it with my rice. :) Yum! I had the other half to go and asked the owner for an extra dressing. And he was also generous to give my Dad extra rice with his dish (which he wasn't expecting). :) A little bit expensive, but worth it. We were all satisfied with our dishes as usual. :D read more

Came here for lunch and ordered Combo #5 for two, which included rice and salad with roasted vegetables and chicken, beef, and lamb kabobs. The entire combo was more than enough for two--it was a lot of food at a decent price (around $15). Some of the meats were a bit dry, but I still enjoyed the food and thought the meats were well-seasoned. Although I thought the food was pretty good overall, there wasn't anything that made Fanoos stand out from other Middle Eastern places I've been to. Based on food alone, I'd give this place 3/3.5 stars. The service was friendly, but way too slow. The waiter was helpful, but took his time to come take our orders and give us the check. We ended up just walking up to the cash register to pay for our food (which was okay since it was less than ten feet away--this is a small place). Little quaint eatery that serves up tasty Persian food. We arrived 10 minutes before closing, but the owner was kind enough to allow us to order dinner. My friend ordered the Gheymeh Bademjan, which is the eggplant stew with peas, tomatoes and beef. It was a well seasoned hearty stew that was good for this rainy and cool night when we dined (about 3 weekends ago). The rice the came with the Bademjan was basmati rice topped with a nice long chunk of crispy crust of the rice. I ordered the combination platter with the lamb and beef shish kabob with the Zeresk Polo (sour barberry bastmati rice). The meats were well season and very tender. The lamb was not gamey at all. And the rice was quite tasty with lots of little barberries cooked in the rice that provided a slight sweetness and a slight tangyness as well. We were able to take our time eating our meal while chatting, and the same courtesy was provided to one other couple who was already there when we arrived. We left close to 11:15pm, and were truly grateful of the owner and his staff for accommodating us late eaters. read more

Fanoos grill was great! All of the staff were masked when I had checked in for my reservation. They have a large tent set up for outdoor dining. I set a reservation for my birthday dinner with my family and we sat in the outdoor seating area. Amir the owner was sweet, and came back multiple times to check on us to make sure all of our needs were met. Everything he brought out for the appetizers, which included the crunchy rice, hummus and pita, and grape leaves looked and tasted great. I ordered saffron tea and the combo #2 which was the lamb chop and Chicken shish kabob, they were both very tender and juicy. They were bursting with flavor and it was also accompanied by vegetables and basmati rice. The saffron tea was hot and perfect for a cold dinner outside. When I called the restaurant they accepted that they found their bread was full of mold and it somehow got in the order. I've been coming here to get my Persian food fix for years. And until this shutdown, I haven't really given much thought to reviewing this place. Today, I stopped by to grab some food and unfortunately their card machine was down. I didn't have any cash on me and was about to leave when the guy just asked me to pay them next time. That's brilliant customer service. Not only that, they have a table at the door with their number and menus with a sign saying "if you touched the menu, please take it with you. Do not put it back on table". And price wise, it's one of the cheaper Persian places in the South Bay. Though, tbf, I only go to Fanoos, seaside, and chickychick. Here, I can pay around $20 and get all my favorites. At the other places, my average bill comes out to $25-30 when I get an entree, eggplant, and sharazi salad. If you're looking for a good Persian place, give this place a go. read more

My first time trying this place because I had heard a lot of people talk about it. Unfortunately I was not fully satisfied with my experience. Maybe I just had my hopes up too high. Experience - For a weekday night, the restaurant was pretty packed, which I thought was a good sign. I ordered a beef shish kabob wrap and my husband got the chicken sultani plate. When the food came out, I noticed my wrap looked like chicken not beef. So I called the lady over and she took it back and said it was her fault. She brought me out an extra plate of salad, because the plate she took back had the salad I already started eating. When my new plate came out it bad even more salad on it! (I feel bad that so much salad got wasted) Food- The chicken sultani plate was ok. The chicken kababs felt too dry, and the koobideh was average, could have been more flavorful, didn't live up to what I expected. The beef shish kabob wrap was lacking some sauce and needed some more flavor also. One half of my wrap was mainly bread and hardly any meat -i guess it wasn't filled/wrapped well. Absolutely terrible take-out experience. Ordered the ground beef (koobideh) kabob and ghormeh sabzi with beef meat choice. I ordered on a Sunday night around 6 pm through Postmates. When the food arrived, it was warm and came with an extra large order of rice + tahdig, which was a nice touch. However-- the 2 star review is because the koobideh kabob made me sick. It was undercooked, tasted funny as soon as I took a bite. Looked at the meat and it was bright pink from the middle. I sent a notice and photo to Postmates and let them know. The ghormeh sabzi was good, but overshadowed by a decent sized layer of oil sitting on top of the takeout dish. Tomato and jalapeño that came with the kabob were also soggy and not crisp from the grill as Persian food is usually served. Really disappointed because I've been looking for a good Persian food restaurant in the Palos Verdes area-- but Fanoos Grill isn't it. read more

This place is very hit or miss. There have been times where food is good and there are times when you get cold old food from the day before especially the stews. They said they hadn't started the meal because their 3rd Parry delivery service didn't call them to tell them they're on the way which there t triggers the beginning of the meal prep. The result is nobody did anything. 3rd party didn't call or have a link other than to contact the restaurant directly. We did that. They suggested we call the 3rd party provider with non existent customer service (literally) so all in all, hunky suggest you spare yourself the nightmare we went through. Beef koobideh (served with basmati rice topped with saffron, charbroiled tomato and garden salad) - Beef koobideh tasted better than I expected - very delicious and it was cooked nicely. Solid Persian food in the South Bay!!?? (I usually go to restaurants on Pico Blvd in West Hollywood or Westwood Blvd). Not fit for huge parties, but a good sized restaurant. Taste 4/5 Incredibly juicy Koobideh. My Chicken Koobideh plate (salad subbed for rice) came with mixed grilled veggies, two thin Chicken Koobideh strips, a half pita, and a large salad that was topped with olives, carrots, and cucumbers!! Pita was thin and nothing special, but was very soft. And while it was on the smaller side, the Chicken Koobideh was very well seasoned. My take-out also came with a cute packet of Sumac (I'll try cooking with it!). The spicy dressing that came with the salad (or was it tzaziki) was moderately spicy!! (On a scale of 1-Howlin (10) it was a 3/10). Price 4/5 $14 for two Koobideh? Yeah I say that's worth it. It didn't last two meals and I was hungry a couple hours after. Service 5/5 Great service!! The sweet waiter offered a glass of water while I waited. Food takes a while (because it is freshly made to order) and it was well worth the wait!. Maybe 15 min.
