I ordered an avocado chicken sandwich and the bread was soggy, I barely had avocado and the chicken was so small compared to other farmer boys locations. I go to a different location farmer boys about every Sunday with my family and the service is exceptional, but I had such a terrible experience here. I also had a half way birthday shake to redeem through the app and I redeemed it, but then the staff would not give me my shake even though the code was redeemed. Went there on my lunch break early evening Friday around 7:45, ordered a Farmer Burger combo, 45 minutes later no order. I asked about my order and told the cashier that I was limited in time since I was on my lunch break( On duty Deputy sheriff in uniform) she brought it to the attention of another lady who I assume is the manager, she proceeded to question the cook about my order and asked me what I ordered and under what name. I told her and she talked to the cook, who had a grin the whole time. I waited a few more minutes and then decided that I was better off cutting my loses and going else where. I asked the cashier for a refund which she promptly gave me minus the cost of the drink which I did get. Its a shame I never even got a sorry from anyone. As a former customer service employee in fast food I've never feel disrespected. My family and I were in the mood for a shake and fries. It was 10mins to closing for this location which we took to consideration. We ordered our food and it was already decided that our food was "to go" when we weren't even asked by the cashier. By the time we received our food, an employee began to notify everyone who was in the restaurant that they were "getting ready to leave". In my eyes is rude, because they pretty much kicked everyone out. The lights were being shut off as soon as the employee notified everyone. Now I work with the same circumstances and I know how your suppose to wait for everyone to leave before you start closing, yes you can lock the door but not turn of the lights. They could have waited at least 15-20 before notifying everyone they were closed, that is if people were only talking among each other and not actually eating. Short story short, It was very rude for the employee to do so as people were trying to enjoy their meals. read more

During my time at UCR, this was my favorite chain restaurant in town. For starters, the location is perfect, right on the outskirts of downtown and straight down University Ave. So whenever workers in downtown or students at UCR or RCC get hungry, they always head to Farmer Boys. The parking at Farmer Boys is not great, considering that during lunch time this place gets packed. If the parking lot adjacent to the restaurant is full, there's an additional lot behind the neighboring business and there's also several lots within walking distance (not a bad idea if you need to walk a bit to aid the digestion). The food at Farmer Boys is always fresh and made to order. No lamp heating or microwaving here. Everything from the sandwiches, to the breakfasts, to the burgers contain fresh ingredients and are prepared on the spot. I really haven't tried anything else besides the burgers (the burgers are just too damn good), but others have highly recommended other items on the menu such as the steaks, the sandwiches, the onion rings, and others. Now that I've mentioned it, I'll expand on the famous Farmer Boys burger: if you think that a burger here is the same as a burger at In-N-Out, you're going to be surprised. The burgers at Farmer Boys are not only bigger, tastier, and fresher...but after eating them, they stay with you for the remainder of the day. The Double Bacon Cheeseburger is my favorite, and its one of the best burgers I've tasted in my life. It has the right amount of Thousand Island dressing, 3 crunchy lettuce leaves, 2 tomato slices, and a heavy slice of cheese sandwiched between 2 thick grilled beef patties. Unlike In-N-Out and Carls Jr, Farmer Boys cooks their hamburgers on a large charcoal grill, and its this which gives the burgers that special ingredient. You can't go wrong here, whatever you order is gonna be prepared on the spot and will be fresh and well done. I've been to this restaurant at 7PM when the restaurant is completely empty, and the burgers and French fries (crunchy and well seasoned) are still made fresh...now that's the sign of a great chain restaurant. One of more thing, although at first you may think that the small window is a drive thru, its really not. That small window on the parking lot side of the restaurant is for lunch orders, don't get confused. If you're looking for a Farmer Boys with a drive thru, there's plenty in the area, just get on Yelp or tap on that fancy iPhone Yelp application you downloaded, and you'll be able to locate a drive thru Farmer Boys in the area. So what are you waiting for, get out there and get yourself a Double Bacon Cheeseburger.....cheers. read more

Came here for the first time over the weekend. i got the Natural Burger with a free side of fried zucchini (4 pieces) for checking in. The burger was pretty good and tasted pretty fresh. It wasn't the best burger I've ever had, but if I had a choice between this place and any other fast food place, I would definitely choose this place in terms of how fresh the burger tasted. The zucchini was extremely fresh as well. It was my first time trying fried zucchini and it was absolutely delicious. I pictured that it would be smaller pieces of zucchini that were fried, but here, they cut an entire zucchini into four pieces and deep fry it. It was so juicy and tasted so fresh. I come here just for their zucchini fries! I'm not a huge fan of vegetables or squash or anything like that, but zucchini fries hit the spot every freaking time! Their milkshakes are really good too. I think my friend ordered the Farmer's Burger and the burger was on point too! Service can get a bit slow depending on what time you go in because sometimes I go in just to order a milkshake and they take a while to give it to me when all they do is pull the milkshake out of the fridge and blend it in the machine... But other than that, I haven't had a problem with the staff or their service the few times I went in. read more

We always know the burgers will be amazing but what made the night unforgetable was the level of OUTSTANDING customer service and incredibly professional attitude given to us by Stephen. My little brother brought me here for a chef salad. Don't get me wrong i have had the best of farmers and the worst of farmers int he I.E. But i have to mention the environment here was pleasant, inviting and honestly the workers where sweet and accommodating. the salad was crisp and gently flavored with cheddar pre-shredded-cheese. Maybe it was my brothers presence but the food was pleasantly comforting and properly made. Rcc student love and semi depend on properly made affordable food, i can say it cause i was once one of the students. and i must say thi place is a great bang for your buck deal. read more

This review is based on a single visit to Farmer Boys. I had never heard of the chain before my mom and I made a fatigue stop on a road trip, when we stumbled on Farmer Boys near the Riverside Convention Center. The off-street parking (with shade!) was a joy to find. This is a sit-down restaurant where you place an order at the counter, and the food is brought to your table. There is also a pick-up window on the outside for phone orders. We each had a standard Bacon Boy double cheeseburger with the standard fixings, and a fountain drink. We were both very impressed with the quality of the food and the service. I suspect that we were fortunate to catch Farmer Boys when it wasn't busy, which was a little surprising on the Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend. There was no wait at the order counter. The restaurant was very clean, the staff friendly and attentive. Our food arrived quickly. The burgers were exactly as described and pictured on the menu - There was no "What's wrong with this picture?" moment as in the Whammy Burger scene in the movie Falling Down. The meat and other ingredients tasted very fresh, and the patties were cooked properly to medium. The burgers were a bit juicy (surely better than dry) but not overwhelmingly messy. Each table has a small condiment rack, which oddly didn't include any mustard. Especially compared to the harrowing experience we had getting lunch at a crowded major fast food chain restaurant in Barstow on our way out to Las Vegas the day before Thanksgiving, our lunch at the University Avenue Farmer Boys in Riverside was a relaxing and pleasant experience. We left well-nourished and refreshed for the rest of our drive back to San Diego. Thank you to Beatriz and your coworkers at Farmer Boys!
