First of all, PLEASE do not be fooled by the people you speak with on the phone. They come off very nice and professional, but it comes down to service and they simply DO NOT deliver. If you are at all nervous/on the edge about hiring a moving company.... KEEP LOOKING!!! Do not book through this broker!!! Yes, they are a broker, not an actual moving company. They sent people from a company called ASAP Relocations to my house... a company with an F rating by the BBB... I can't imagine they truly care about their clients if they are going to send people with close to 100 BBB complaints! I got a bunch of quotes and ended up using them for my move from San Diego to Chicago (yeah... poor research on my part). Aside from the fact that the actual cost was HUNDREDS more than quoted, they LOST/STOLE MY STUFF!!!! (A friend of mine once told me that movers never "lose" anything. Given the characters that packed me up... I'm on board with that statement). First of all, they sent some shade-ball looking guys to my place in SD. I had everything packed, but they claimed it wasn't good enough, and tacked on a couple hundred for packing. On top of all of this, one of them verbally complained about not being happy with his tip... I should have known then and there my stuff was getting accidently "lost in transit". yeah. right... Skip ahead about 2 weeks. I get my delivery with the appropriate amount of boxes... only they are not all mine! Missing is a HUGE wardrobe box filled with expensive art work and other items. Literally the one box containing things of real monetary value goes missing... coincidence I'm sure... This was also the box the movers insisted on "re-packing"... making it the only box they got a good look at what was inside... I called and sent about 3 e-mails until someone got back to me... 2 weeks later. I told them the story, and they said I would have to file a claim because they didn't get reports of any missing boxes... The interesting part here is that I told them I got someone else's boxes and they didn't do ANYTHING about it. Didn't ask me to return it or even see what was in it in case they had it reported... nothing. So, even if someone called and told them they had my box, I am pretty sure they would just tell them to keep it! STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! (unless of course you enjoy the feeling of being ripped off) Next stop.... BBB... which by the way, they are not accredited by... their website will mislead you to believe they are in fact accredited. ----------- Update: In my original post, I indicated that the company did not even attempt to find whose items I had mistakenly gotten, which made me nervous that they were not trying to find my items. In all fairness however, since the post I was contacted to take pics of the items that did not belong to me and send in a detailed description of my missing items. I still don't have my stuff, so I cannot in good faith recommend the company at this point ... but it's a step in the right direction. I'm sad to report I had the worst possible experience with this moving company. My mistake for not checking Yelp ahead of time and being naive. I just did not assume in this economy and day-and-age that any type of company could get away with such un-ethical and unprofessional actions. In a nutshell, I was asked to sign and initial the entire contract with them before they even started packing my items, in order to "Open the Contract" and then the numbers/amounts were filled in afterwards. They upcharged 40% on my move with over estimated packing supplies, a false stair charge and an increased scale amount the company would not show me the documentation on either via email or at time of delivery. I tried to fight each of these with the young, inflexible dispatcher, Lily (with photos and evidence) and lost at each turn. I also was forced to pay in cash and not get billed later for the overage amount. My desk showed up broken. But the worst part is that they REPLACED my 4 foot tall wardrobe box of ALL of my clothing and shoes with a small, empty, crushed un-numbered shoebox of spatulas (without a lot# sticker) in my shipment so that the sub-contractor counted 29 items and delivered them to me with a sad shrug. Suffice to say, I am newly arrived in NY from CA without more than one jacket and November is right around the corner. Whether out of theft, neglect or spite (because I was causing so much trouble on the other up-charged fees), I have lost my entire closet of clothing and shoes. They want me to file a claim, where I am likely to get little to nothing for everything gone. Even though I have an intuition that they are not really putting effort towards locating my box, I feel helpless and I'm scared to even follow up with them about tracing my lost wardrobe because of their lack of ethics. They were so nice before they picked up my items but after they picked them up and I had to speak to Lilly it has been a nightmare. She yells at me and make nasty comments. It has been 9 days and she won't return my calls I have no itemized bill (she said she would email me 7 days ago). When I called again today to find out about the extra 747.00 and ask again for an itemized bill she said, "I don't have time for this, I am off work in 5 minutes. Do not use this company. I wish I would have read the reviews on yelp before I hired them. I received a qoute from a sales rep, Jordan. I knew packing materials were not included in this qoute and received a seperate qoute for packing materials. No where did it indicate that "Shrink Wrap" was $50 a roll. When it came time for me to pay my bills after they loaded up the van, the bill came to $720 for shrink alone (and over $2000 for the materials - well over $3500 total vs. the $1000 estimate) I called the company immediate and asked to speak to Jordan, the sales rep, and the receptionist would not put me threw to him. She hung up the phone on me. I called again and the receptionist told me that she was told to "hang up "the phone on me if I ever tried to call again. Oddly enough, Jordan never gave me his last name and it was not even in his emails - despite numerous calls and emails I received from him. UPDATE: 10 days have now passed since my belongings were picked up by Fast Move Vanlines and they are still sitting in a storage facility in the SF Bay Area, their point of origin. The real kicker here is that the company requires you to be ready to receive your items 3 days from pick-up or they charge you a $75 storage fee. So does this mean I can charge them the $75 given they weren't ready to ship within 3 days of pick-up? Am I stuck in a Seinfeld episode? Also, they advertised I would receive my items "in about 7 days or less" since I was on the east coast and this is a common route/destination of theirs. When confronted with why my belongings haven't shipped yet they replied, "We don't have any trucks going to the east coast." Wow. In addition, I have since learned that this company does not have a license to ship things within CA. I am a pretty reasonable guy, really! I have never had a problem with any business or service that I haven't resolved in a friendly manner, but I guess there is always a first time for everything! I wanted to chose a local, non-corporate moving service for my move, not just because they are cheaper, but because I make a habit out of supporting local business. This time I really wish I had gone the more expensive route! Like most movers, they sent me an estimate based on weight, and told me there would be more fees if there were stairs, if things weren't packed, etc. Well, I made sure to pack everything, but according to them it was not "properly packed." What is the definition of "properly packed" items as it relates to moving? Hmmm nowhere to be found it seems. On July 21st I had my property picked up from a storage location by Fast Move Vanlines. The actual movers were quite courteous and I appreciated them. I had planned ahead and my items were "properly packed" according to what I understood as the definition of that term. However, I learned on that day that no items could be left in drawers (something that was not explained to me) and apparently that "properly packed" meant that every single piece of furniture had to be wrapped in padding and/or shrink wrap. They charged me an extra 919.00 for this service. I complained about it at the time, however, I had to move on that date. I had to initial the contract for this or else the move would not have happened. When I spoke with the main office at 408-526-9901 or toll free number 877-682-9901, and made an official complaint about this hidden charge, I was basically told there was nothing they could do about it. I asked the manager to speak with the owner and the manager said that she would speak with the owner and call me back, but I never heard back from her until I called back a few days later. Also, we agreed on a delivery date of August 12, 2008, which I rushed to make, but my goods have still not been delivered. (They are promising delivery on August 31 now). When I called on August 12, I was told that this was the "first possible date of delivery" and that they had up to 21 days after that fact. I read the fine print in the contract, and it does reflect this 21 day period, however, when I spoke with the company on the phone, they asked me when I would like my goods to be delivered. I told them August 12th, and they responded "well that is the first possible date of delivery." There was no further discussion that they had up to 21 days and so I was expecting my goods to be delivered on the 12th. When they were not, I called the office to find out what was going on, and asked again about the 919.00 extra charge. I was told at that time there was nothing they could do about the charge and that they were sorry for the miscommunication about the delivery date. It is now August, 29 and I am still awaiting my belongings. I have already started my new job, have no furniture, only a few clothes, and am living in an almost empty apartment. My sister and brother in law flew out here to help me get settled and were unable to do this since my furniture and other belongings have not arrived. This mistake has not only cost me, but family members time and money. I have had to purchase several basic items in order to just "get by" until my other belongings arrive. This has cost me time, stress, and money. I really want the disputed 919.00 to be forgiven in total, but mostly I just want my home to be put back together! Well, I made a complaint to the BBB, which the company "responded" to without actually responding to my complaint about the extra 919 in "hidden fees" for "properly packing" things. I have spoken with them on the phone several times about it and the final response I got was that if I don't pay them the full, outstanding 1200 (which includes the disputed 919) then they will have to auction my stuff off. Then, the manager I spoke to had the nerve to say to me that I was just trying to get a free move! Talk about poor customer service! Needless to say, I am going to pay them the 1200 and I will be pursuing legal action after the fact. I have already issued two other former complaints on the company (one through the National Consumer Complaints organization and one through the Federal Moter Carrier Safety Administration). My hunch is that because they overestimated the weight of my belongings to the tune of about 1000, they wanted to make up for that somehow and thus charged me the 919 for "properly packing" things. Sorry to say that I could never recommend this place to anyone! Furthermore, I hope that no one reading this will be as naive as I when choosing a moving company. We wanted to dispute this amount and have a manger call us back... nobody called us back.... they wont give their full names when I ask so that I can address them correctly.... the manager nam is Tom... who I could only reach after a week of calling back... he wont give his full name either... he calls himself Tom Jones.... This experience gives me a scam feeling.... not be able to get our things back... and how they talk to us and hung up on us.... I have way to fight back..... they make you pay otherwise say hi to your things.... I was wondering if someone could help to tell this to everyone.... this business is not honest and is very desertion!!! Gave us lots of stress and is still not over... They made us initial some lines on the moving contract and right before they left the inserted the number without telling us about the charge. The manager in charge does not care and sounded like the drive who came out with two bad looking guys on an ASAP truck..... They got my things to me in record time, their staff was always supportive, and the drivers were very helpful. even though they do not have a branch here in Georgia, once the driver was informed that we were having some issues with the payment of the delivery, he took it upon himself to find a company that he could use to store our goods, not costing us extra money. I hired Fast Move Vanlines on October 7th, 2009 to move some furniture from my mother's house in Vacaville, CA to my home in the Hamptons, New York. The scheduled pick-up was on October 21st, 8am in the morning. The agreement was for $786.45 for up to 1000 lb. My shipment ended-up being 980 lbs. I made the arrangements over the phone with Ashley. Fast Move, aka ASAP Vanlines, intimidated and took advantage of my elderly mother; kept changing their payment requirements and harassing me personally; and charged unauthorized extra fees at every turn. Elder Harassment: On October 21st, the moving men did not arrive until 8:00pm and their van said ASAP movers on the side. My elderly mother was very nervous to let them in so late, especially since their van had a different company name on it, and she wanted to watch them move her things, but they tag-teamed her: one cornered her and made her sign a large bundle of blank documents in her home while the other went into her garage alone. The paperwork should have been completed before they arrived, but she was forced to fill-out new forms which were completely blank and which they refused to give her a copy of. After 20 minutes of signing blank invoices, she went into the garage and found the man was wrapping two pieces, even though everything was already boxed. The other man joined him in over-wrapping everything and telling her she had to box all the chairs, she protested but they said they would not move the chairs unless each one was in a separate box. When I spoke to them on the phone, I was told that they offer free furniture pads and furniture is not required to be boxed. Extras and Payment Issues: I was charged extra for all the packing materials and tape. After all this, they left packing material and debris scattered across her yard and her street. After this debacle, I called Sally Green, the manager, about the ASAP moving van. She lied to me and said they just purchased those vans and had not had the chance to paint over them yet. After calling ASAP movers directly, they told me they were owned by Fast Move. They refused to give me a copy of any of the forms my mother signed either, telling me I could only have them after delivery. I was originally told that I could use a credit card to pay for the order, but then I was told their machine was broken. They told me that I had to pay $300 in packing charges, which were added to the blank forms, even though I had self-packed. I was told they wanted full payment, plus the $300 in cash before they would let my shipment leave California. They were holding my shipment hostage. I asked to speak to the owner and Sally refused to let me speak to the owner, or even tell me the name of the owner. After originally agreeing to accept credit card payment, she said that now that they had possession of the shipment, they would only accept cash or money order. After many phone calls, they said they would only accept the credit card payment in-full and it would cost an extra 5%. Sally was rude and abrasive, hanging-up on me several times. I spent 6-7 hours over the course of a week trying to make payment arrangements. As a small business owner, I don't have time to waste on issues like this. They also tried to make me pay for storage while they waited for the payment, though the contract states that they give 30 days of free storage. When the shipment arrived, the driver told me it would cost $350 extra to take my shipment from the van into my home, I refused and he ultimately relented. Though my shipment came-in under the weight requirement, I was charged $1,081.45 instead of the original estimated price of $786.45. My classic Eames Recliner also arrived broken, despite their $300 worth of supposed packing supplies and service. Customer Service: Although Ashley, who took the initial order, was pleasant, Sally's customer service demeanor was combative, rude, obnoxious, abrasive, inconsistent, hostile and less than honest at every turn. My mother and I were harassed, upset and lied to by this company and then overcharged! We felt helpless and almost considered letting them keep our belongings. read more

Fast Move Van Lines was so great I used them twice. I moved from CA to NY and back again with in a year and both times they were nice, courteous, and efficient with my move. All my belongings arrived at my new home just as I packed them. The costumer help was wonderful and answered all my questions. If I have to move again they would be my first call. read more

To begin, I signed up for a Yelp account for the sole purpose of writing this review. I felt compelled to share my story so that no one else has to suffer such injustice and outright theft by this absolutely awful company. I know there aren't many reviews, and usually I would take that to mean that only spiteful people are writing reviews and maybe this company isn't so bad. However, I promise this company really is THAT BAD and these reviews really are representative of the experience you will have with this company at large. Please please please do not do business with these people! ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!!! They will offer you what seems like a great deal, but I promise you it is NOT worth it. I hired Fast Move to ship my things from California to Georgia and my personal belongings were delivered over 6 WEEKS LATE!! Moreover, I only received them after hiring a LAWYER!! I had to call them 3 times a week and harass them, and each time they told me that the reason my things had not been loaded and put on its way to GA was because there was not a truck going to GA (didn't I pay for there to be a truck going to GA?). As a result, I had to spend a ton of money buying things I already owned to get by for the month and a half I was waiting on my boxes, and had to sleep on an air mattress in an empty apartment with just my suitcase of clothes in the meantime. Unless you want that to be your experience, STAY AWAY!!!! Some other notes: -What they charged me for the move was literally DOUBLE what the quoted me as they claimed my things weighed twice what they estimated. I asked for a re-weigh with my father present (I was already in GA at this time) and they flat out refused even this I am guaranteed this right according to their contract. -When the movers came to pick up my things in CA, one of them took a dump in my bathroom for 20 minutes (without asking), and left his dirty toilet paper ON THE FLOOR! Dirty disgusting awful man. -When I tried to cancel the move the next business day, the sales representative who booked my move flat out LIED to me and said my things were already en route to GA and the deal couldn't be cancelled. LIES. They didn't ship it for another 6-7 weeks. They also lied about having sent it out a few more times. They even lied to my lawyer. -Not once was I allowed to speak to a manager of the company. -According to their contract agreement, they technically have 30 business days to deliver your things to you from the earliest date of delivery that you sign for (that's right, 30 friggin business days!!). Even with a lawyer, I still did not see my things until after that 30 business days, nor was compensated for breach of contract in any way. -When they finally delivered my things, it was not Fast Move that did so but another company entirely that they contracted out to. That company only hired ONE man, and it took him THREE hours to unload my things which should have max taken 1 hour (I only had a set of bedroom furniture plus boxes of kitchen stuff and some other misc. boxes). Moreover he didn't arrive until 9:30pm and so didn't leave until 12:30am. Moreover, both of my bookcases were broken and the mover tried to blame me saying the bookcases were crap! I've moved twice before on my own and the bookcases have never broke, so yeah right mister. -I was made to pay in cash in certified check BEFORE any of my things were unloaded from the truck so even if anything was broken or missing I still would have had to pay the full amount. That is flat bogus. Most reputable companies will allow you to pay with credit card. You can then dispute the charge if something shady like that goes down. ****I am filing complaints with every agency I can think of because Fast Move SHOULD NOT be allowed to still be in business.***** read more

Moved from California to Buffalo in July 2008. Estimates done. Job subcontracted out to this company. Showed up and loaded the truck. Driver said items would be marked once they were unloaded. (Never done) Paid extra for appliances and a few extra furniture items. Arrived in Buffalo 16 days late. The charges ballooned 900 more than the original due to weight, even though the updated estimate was given after the pick up of our things. The driver said, either pay or I walk. Our new washing machine looked like it had been thrown around, there were large scratches in the dresser, 2 wheels bent off one bed frame, and one frame missing. No refrigerator and 6 boxes missing. So? said the driver...and drove off. Not only did I pay for the extra handling of the extra items on the truck, but also the fees for the added weight. We never got compensated, or our stuff back. Some guy answered the phone 3 weeks later saying they had gone out of business. After that the number was disc. I cannot tell you enough bad things about this company. They will overcharge you for everything. They will unpack what you have packed, and charge you for doing so. They will give you an estimate after "weighing" your things, and the driver will charge more once he gets there. The federal complaint cannot do anything for you either. Neither can the bbb. Biggest mistake of my life!!!!! Sure enough....complete scam artists!!! If they give you a binding quote, ignore it. It means nothing!!!! They say they will match other movers quotes. They lie!!! Of course, they say they are not a broker, but if they weren't, then why would they send an Enterprise rent-a-truck to move my stuff!!! On top of that, the movers packed my cushions to my chair separately and said they couldn't be moved with the chair(even though they are part of the chair) and charged me an extra $35 for the box. Not to mention, the $15 per item to shrink wrap my furniture. I had my own shrink wrap sitting there. Then they said that my stuff weighed more than the quote (which they were supposed to match Super Movers because their rep actually came out to my place and looked at everything and stated on their contract a Not to Exceed quote.) Fast move did not match them. Upon calling them during the move to ask about the extra charges, they said that they would look into it when they received the paperwork. They lie!! They make you sign a contract after everything is in the truck and you don't have a choice!!!! You have to pay their extra fees. We moved from CA to NC with this company earlier this summer and the move went fairly smoothly. The crew that did our pick up was really hard working and appreciative of us providing them with drinks and lunch. ( A tip I got from reading moving blogs) I've moved before so I packed up everything myself with the help of my kids. The only downside is that it took 20 days to get to NC which I was told it could be anywhere from 7-21 business days. FAST MOVE VAN LINES - don't do it! We were solicited by FMVL via e-mail. We negotiated a price over the phone based on the number of rooms in our house and a detailed inventory of our house hold. The estimate was about $3,600. I was told to buy shrink wrap for the upholstered furniture, tape and mattress bags for the beds, which I did. But when the moving crew came, they flat rejected my materials and proceeded to wrap, box, and tape absolutely everything in my house. We objected many times that it was unnecessary but where physically pushed aside and told "don't worry, we're professionals." Half way through the Forman "Eli" demanded $1200 more for materials in addiotion to the $1900 half down payment that I had already given him. He insisted that I sign a contract and inventory lists that were not even filled out yet before they would even start loading the truck. At this point we were under the gun to get out of the house, so I felt I had no choice. By the time they finished Eli then came to me and told us that the weight was far over the estimated and that it would cost us around $5500! Then Eli demanded an additional $2300 in wrapping/boxing materials. Then they left furniture items behind that they had marked but then just forgot. We tried to call the office but no one would be available until Monday. At that point the new owner of the house has moved in and we are gone out of State. When we called Monday, Lindsey, the "manager" said that they would have to charge US another $300 to go back and pick it up! At this point they still have my furniture and I have paid them the entire $3600+/- fee that we had originally negotiated. I cannot pay the over $7,200 they are demanding. Every person we delt with was completely unprofessional and utterly unhelpful. I can only assume that the under estimated weight and the additional materials charge are done knowingly, systematically and purposefully in order to lure unsuspecting customers into buying their services, and then when they are in a position that they are bound by time and circumstances beyond their control, FMV can then jack up the price at will and defraud them out of as much money as possible. I have been in touch with an Attorney, Law enforcement, the BBB, the Dep of Trans, and the Transit Authority. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! read more

Just used these guys for my kind of sudden move from Oregon. I got a job opportunity and had to jump on it! Anyway I found them on craigslist and they had a special rate going and it was the lowest I had received. After long talk with the sales rep about the move and a quick check on the BBB I reserved the move. I know, I know kinda impulsive but i was in a rush and everything checked out so i did it! We used Fast Move Van Lines in 2009 to move from California, to Georgia. I mostly spoke with Ashley, and she was very helpful. We had a great experience with this company. The movers showed up on time, took care with all of our items, boxed some larger special pieces and delivered a day early in Georgia with everything intact and undamaged. I would definitely use this company again. Seems like negative news travels and there are always going to be people complaining, but this time it is GOOD NEWS. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY !!!!! BIG MISTAKE !!!! I recently moved from CA to NC. Fortunately I shrink wrapped all of my things first otherwise I too would have been charged extra. Well long story short what I payed came in 1500.00 over the original estimate. The time stamp on the weight didn't not match... but after they already have your stuff and headed to the airport.. not much you can do. Finally made it to North Carolina. I too got the number of boxes on the inventory however they were NOT MY BOXES. Well 3 of them were not. I called the driver not 3 minutes after he left my house to let him know about the boxes that were not mine... no answer ..no return call... called again....funny he answered my calls that morning when he was trying to find my house.... after they have your money... they don't care. Called the company explaining the situation.... no reply.. 2 days later ... called again... no reply.... finally got a hold of some one. Asked how this sort of situation was handled and the response was that they did not know because this has never happened.... obviously from these post you can see that is a blatent lie !!!! Was told that I could send the boxes and file a claim to be reimbursed !!!!! EXCUSE ME??? I NEED TO PAY TO SEND SOMEONE ELSE BOXES BACK THAT WERE DELIVERED TO ME AND FILE A CLAIM TO GET MY MONEY BACK ??? AND WHERE ARE MY BOXES ?? Unacceptable !!! They asked for the box lot and box numbers and they would research. Asked when I could expect to hear back.... Monday which would be 3 days. Okay .. I figured I would give them a chance to resolve. Well here it is Wednesday... I had to call them back... Guess what they lost the box and lot numbers that they had written down... Now they have asked me to email them the box numbers AGAIN !!!! Well, Fast Move wasnt my cheapest quote, but for some reason I felt comfortable, even after reading the other two reveiws... I would not say that they were Terrible at all.. The dates did jump around a little bit, and the first girl I had booked through made me think that it was a solid day that I was getting picked up on, so make sure you have that window of time.. I packed all of my own boxes so I did not have that expense, HOWEVER the girl only told me that I would need a mattrass cover, she did not inform me that I would need two, for the box spring as well (didnt even think about it) and they will RE WRAP all the furnature if it isnt shrink wrapped, which they use the moving blankets so it is probably a good idea.. . AND I learned that they would have used my tape, so buy your own for them to use, it is WAY cheaper.. the people that picked up my furnature were super nice and careful with my items.. I had written down a drop off date with in a week of the pick up, I found that I would automatically be paying for that 75 storage charge, so expect that.. Some days the girls were good about getting back to me and others they were not, they were nice, just busy I suppose... I called them for them to tell me that the guy had reloaded my stuff and was on my way, a little bit of confusion on the drop off date.. it ended up being 3 weeks later, I had only been in the new state for a few days and I didnt REALLY need anything to survive, however I would count on there being a delay in delivery since they wait for other orders to head the same direction as yours... Nothing was broken, the men delivering things were super nice, even complimented me on my packing ability (military wife) all in all, it was decent.. I have my things, nothing broken, people were nice.. just that delay... AND for the record people, if things are irriplaceable, or of value then take them with you.. it would be silly to not.. and if there is a large item of signifigant value THEN INSURE IT.. if it is that important to you then pay the extra.. read more
