Our lunch was $63(which included a $10 tip)& with the heat we just wanted water and they handed me a 4oz cup. I asked for a larger cup and the young gal went to hand it to me but said she'd have to charge me. Mind you this is a sit down restaurant. When I said that's silly I'll pay for it but I won't be back the young man snatched the cups from her, put them back and walked away. So I took the baby cup, sat to eat and refilled it a few times while eating. So great food, good restaurant but whoever left this child in charge of customer relations should have a talk with him as he just lost a return customer and turned this five star post into a 3 star over a cup of water. read more

This is the most intriguing restaurant I have tried in a while. Is the perfect definition of a hole in the wall, where you get good value for the buck. This isn't a fine dining or high end sushi place. Sushi is made by Latinos, with great Spanish sounds in the background, you can see them making the food with a smile in their face. Their portions are outrageous, probably the biggest rolls I've had in the Bay Area. The rice needed a tad more of vinegar but even with all that, I can't say it was bad. Although the AC temperature could be colder, their fish was fresh. I've been to the restaurant many times for dining in and also for takeout which has always been great. I was having people over for dinner and decided to try out the small platter which I had never ordered before. I loved that the platter came with a great variety of different roles that appealed to everyone. I was curious if the quality was going to be as good and consistent as my past orders due to the order being larger with quite a few items. Sure enough the quality was awesome as usual. I took a sick friend with terminal cancer to Fat Fish 45 mins before their posted closing time of 9:30pm on a slow week night. We drove an hour here because I raved about their fish quality. They refused to seat us. All the chairs there were already positioned over the tables so they probably plan on closing early. To their credit they did say their kitchen was open for takeout (up to 20 minutes before closing time for takeout only). But why leave the restaurant open for at least almost an hour but not let people sit down? Anyway this is just a warning. If you want a sit down meal, plan on arriving at least 1.5 to 2 hours before closing. read more

There are many reasons this Japanese restaurant is popular: The extensive sushi dishes which are all good. The Moriawase Udon is very tasty and the perfect soup at the end of a stressful day. We Deluxe Bento box is a banquet in a box. It has tempura, salad, miso soup & your choice of two other items. The food is great and there's a lot of specialty items especially with unagi that's not found in other restaurants. And the prices are so reasonable. The dining room is comfortable & spacious. It never gets too loud either. Too bad the service has left us frustrated when we've dined in. Sushi & soups are the only items that are served in a timely manner. Don't make the mistake of ordering hot sake. Every time I ordered it, on at least five visits, I always have to remind them of it. They forget & it takes time to heat it up. On one occassion, it took 5 requests for the hot tea. The response was, "It'll be five minutes." An hour after we placed our order & we left without it. This also was the case for a 4-piece Tempura appetizer. We had finished 3 rolls of Unagi roll, Crunch Roll, & Dragon Roll & it never came! The sad thing was the people in the counter didn't even know that we didn't get all the items we ordered. We reminded the servers who were bringing food to other tables, but nothing happened. The manager tried to explain that they're understaffed. For a popular place such as this, that's not a valid reason. They know how busy they are. We do. We tried to be patient, but waiting an hour for tea and an appetizer isn't Ok, right? It really is a shame that the delicious food we had leaves a bad taste now. read more

I have eaten here for years. Today when I walked in I was greeted by a young lady. Her service was terrible! I ordered for myself and my daughter. Both of our food was incorrect. Her attitude was absolutely horrible. It was very sad because this was the first time we were treated this way. My food was handed to someone else. After waiting 40 minutes for our food. I had to go back to the counter to ask for plates and saucers to use for wasabi and soy sauce. The Dragon Roll I ordered... had good portions and seems fresh. The seaweed salad, as I remembered - used to come with small chunks of fresh tuna, no longer served that way. This is my son's favorite place. It used to be ours. Today we showed up at 8:00pm on a Sat. It was completely empty when we arrived. The soda machine wasn't working. We went to take a seat and each and every single table was dirty. Food was sitting on several. The booths are all ripped or dirty. About 15 mins in an employee comes and clears a table of food. Left the number on the table. Never came and wiped it clean. The glass divided clearly hasn't been cleaned in years. One side of the restaurant has trash and food on the floor. The soy sauce bottles were filthy. It's really sad. If it were busy, we would understand. There are 2 people behind the register and just laughing and joking. Should have been cleaning. Family owned sushi spot in Pleasanton! We head here for that family feel environment where there won't be anything to dazzle you. It's a down home sushi spot! You walk-in and order at the front, then you grab a table. Each time we've been there it's been the teenage/early 20s kids of their family serving us and they're perfectly polite and helpful. I bookmarked this place years ago and finally got around to try it on 09/27/2020. I phoned in an order of their large sushi platter ($65) at around 5:10 pm. The owner told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. It was perfect since I live 20 minutes away. Business was brisk when I walked in at 5:30 pm. There were multiple customers waiting for their food. The interior was clean and spacious enough for effective social distancing. Bottles of hand sanitizer were available for customer use. The owner retrieved my platter quickly when it was my turn. He was a really friend guy. It turned out he was the guy who took my order. I loved the fact that he remembered the tiny details from our conversation earlier. The platter was neatly packaged, with chopsticks, napkins, and soy sauce packets all included. It came with six full size rolls (Fat Fish, Dragon, Titanic, Pink Lady, Super Philly, and Cali Deluxe) plus California Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. Everything was huge - lots of rice and lots of filling. No off taste was noted in the fish. It wasn't gourmet, but it was pretty delicious and definitely satisfied my hankering for sushi rolls. I hadn't gone here in probably 4 years or so, and had a random craving for mayo sriracha sauce and fish, so we ended up here on Sunday night for dinner. The prices have gone up a few dollars from before, but the majority of rolls are still under $9, which is unheard of in the bay area. We got 6 rolls, the lion king, volcano, santa rita, heart attack roll, new york roll, and fat fish roll, $60 before tip, CRAZY. Even though I placed my order at 4:30, my food wasn't ready until 5:15. 45 minutes is a long time to wait for food. Give yourself an hour if you are ordering from here, this place is super popular with the locals and they had like 15 tickets already lined up at 5pm. They seem really understaffed, and have hiring signs on the door. The lion king roll was just as good as I remembered it to be, fatty and delicious. The volcano roll is also packed full of stuff, we barely made a dent in the meal. Come early on weekend, or come at lunch, so you don't have to spend too much time waiting for your food. read more
