Stood at the host stand for 7 minutes before a server yelled from across the room for us to sit along the wall. Not the way to greet a customer! We sat and saw about 20 tables full and less than half of them had any food on the table. There may have only been the one server. We decided to leave since we anticipated a long wait for food. Looking at other reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor, this place has really poor service and attitude. No reason to go back even if the food is good.

We didn't necessarily do much when we were in Brookings, Oregon, but we did stop by Compass Rose Cafe and it was one of the best steps yet. They are a smaller cafe so you can expect to wait for a table on the weekend. We originally opted for the food to go because we weren't sure if there would be a table available, but things worked out and we were able to eat here surrounded by all the whimsy knick knacks. I opted for the half size biscuits and gravy with an added patty on top and my husband opted for their monster burrito. Both entrees had great flavor and the staff was very hospitable and friendly. There is plenty of street parking and they also have a small parking lot available. Overall, Compass Rose Cafe is worth a stop if you're in the area and want to relax with some good food!

We visited Superfly while in Brookings for a work trip because it was close to our hotel. We…read moreenjoyed the vibe, and the staff was very friendly. They make their own vodka and it's quite nice. Do yourself a favor and try any of the Superfly specials with it, they'll surprise you. They do have a food menu, but it's a martini bar first and restaurant second. The food was pretty decent, but the knife work, plating and ratios showed the experience behind the stove. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told I could order fish tacos even though it wasn't on the menu. I love a good grilled fish taco so I went for it. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned well, the green and orange sauces were good if a little too mild, and the tortillas were the right style but not grilled quite enough. Also, there was very little cilantro or onion and almost no cabbage so they weren't as filling as I would have liked. My wife had the Katsu Chicken Salad. It arrived plated like it was deconstructed: the katsu on a bed of lettuce greens with very thick slices of vegetables around around the plate and the dressing on the side. It was odd, clunky and the katsu was under seasoned. The peanut dressing was divine though, my wife said she could have drank that like milk. There are some other dishes I'd like to try and their drinks were fantastic so we'll definitely try them again.
