I had not been in here for a few years. This was an old favorite of myself and the family. However, this morning was not exactly a great experience. The food has lost something. It was not even up to par with what I could cook at my house. They must be having some cook issues. The presentation on the plate was not what you expect at a restaurant. I am forgiving of that if the food is great. However, this was not the case. I will not go here for breakfast again. I might try lunch or dinner. Usually the burgers are great. However, I am apprehensive after such a poor showing during breakfast. I am rooting for this place to get things back up to speed. Fava's is a staple of the community. It holds a special place in my heart. Running a restaurant and maintaining the same level of quality as the previous owner is very difficult. It requires a full time commitment to attention to succeed. I am sympathetic with how the business changed hands, but if you charge money for food, you must be on point. I really do wish the place the best. But I am going to give them a little while to get their ducks in a row before even considering trying it again. I recently stopped in and was sitting at the window table up front. After 10 minutes, no one even acknowledged my presence, so I just walked out. The food is just okay, way overpriced, and be aware that they charge a 3.5% fee over and above if you use a credit card. Come on! Isn't that just the cost of doing business these days? The place is under new ownership recently. The new owners are local flippers who are well known for coming in for a short time, changing everything, and then selling. The booths are gone, replaced by tables and chairs crammed together. Yeah, they're pretty tables, but there isn't enough room, so you are constantly worried about bumping the chair/ person directly behind you. The bottom line is that the charming, old-fashioned diner feel is slowly but surely being chipped away. What a shame. It was nice knowing you, Favas. read more

What a terrific lunch spot! We met friends from Florida here for lunch & were blown away by the great food. Among the six of us, we had pancakes, bacon & egg sandwiches with hash browns, potato soup with jalapeños, combo- po boys, a hamburger and milkshakes. Couldn't have been better anywhere & our server, Angel, was friendly and efficient. I'll drive back just for the po boy, as their fried catfish is heavenly! Wonderful & memorable step back in time. Second visit 5/19/17 was less enjoyable. The chicken salad and chips were good & the catfish sandwich was terrific; but the French fries were disappointing. Food was really good. I had the western omelet and home fries. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because of our server who I believe was Rebecca. She must run the place but there was another waitress there that she was belittling in front of all the diners. She left early the day before with someone permission but it wasn't hers. She was rude to her then wouldn't drop it. The girl would move and she would keep coming back threatening to fire her. You don't do that to someone in front of patrons. Very unprofessional and rude. If I was the girl she was bitching out, I would have walked out. read more

Located in the historical part of Georgetown and it's a real gem. Wait staff was terrific, service was great as was the food. We had the Kentucky Breakfast Hot Brown which was really good and 2 pancakes with bacon and a side of biscuits and gravy. I was by here a few years ago and had a mediocre experience. I decided I'd give it another try a few weeks ago. It was significantly improved from my first time here, so I'm revising my review. I came by one morning to try their breakfast. Service was good and friendly, the food was actually pretty nice, and the whole experience overall seemed inviting and pleasant. Visiting from California I frequent alot of fancy gourmet restaurants and must say Favas is right there with the best of them in terms of taste and freshness. Where Favas blows them away is in their old fashion homemade recipes passed down multiple generations. Their hospitality, kindness, and service was second to none. The owner (Dean) happened to walk in while we were eating and came right up to my son and I and introduced himself. He asked how we were doing and where we were from. He even offered his help should we need any assistance in Georgetown. My son is enrollment at Georgetown college on a baseball scholarship and being a parent with a son leaving home for college felt relieved that he would have someone like Dean (Owner) a fellow Georgetown graduate himself that he could go to for help, advice, and a delicious meal. We are certainly coming back here to eat and next time trying some of their delicious pie! Wether your just passing through or a long time local, Favas is a must stop destination. Serving since 1910, this downtown Georgetown is obviously a favorite amongst the locals. I came here for bunch on a Saturday and it was packed. People were talking to each other from nearby tables. The lady beside the bar area let us know that we can sit wherever we want. The tea was amazing, which is always a good sign. The menu has a good variety of salad, sandwiches, country cookin' breakfast items, etc. I'm not a breakfast fan, so I was grateful that they let me order the grilled chicken salad at 10 am. It really wasn't anything fancy, just a lettuce mix, cheese, tomatoes and grilled chicken. I appreciate that the chicken was chopped. I always hate when I order a grilled chicken salad and the chicken has to be cut, but that's not the case here. My husband ordered the Country Boy breakfast platter. I tasted the home fries, which were slices of perfectly fried potatoes and were excellent. The biscuit was also wonderful. The scrabbled eggs were perfectly cooked and everything was warm, so no complaints from him either. Service was great and several of the wait staff stopped by, one wiped the table, one took our drink order and one took our food order. The team work thing seems to work out well. read more

This establishment receives 3 STARS on the YELP Restaurant Walk of Fame. This establishment is in Downtown Georgetown which is roughly 2 miles from interstate. There was ample parking on a Sunday when we went. Seating was plentiful but the location is BUSY so heads up if you go during prime dining time. I spotted quite a few booths (not padded) that seat 4 each and 6 tables that seat 4-6. The counter sits 5. It's cramped across the board so heads up if you are a large person or if you use a wheelchair or other mobility device. There is zero maneuvering room. The bathrooms are NOT handicapped accessible but are clean. The menu is a diner menu. Sandwiches, breakfast, salads, some dinner menus and shakes. I walked in wanting a Hot Brown. Server told us they are waiting on a truck so no Hot Brown or Biscuits and Gravy. I ordered grits (out). Ultimately settled on chicken salad. Chicken out of a can buy freshly made. Unfortunately the chicken salad was tasteless. The bed of lettuce it sat on was clearly cut up yesterday and sat out all day because it was dry and warm. My husband fried fish sandwich and onion rings. The tea tasted fresh. Our server was attentive. They just bought a new POS system for giving orders to the kitchen and it was a bit of a challenge for the crew still. They need a bus boy. Some places beg to be known about. I hate to post this review for fear it will become to busy to visit because this place is awesome! We Started with salad, clam chowder, and frickles (fired pickles). Yes, we were very hungry. Catfish plate with mashed taters and gravy, pinto beans and greens. Delicious!!!! Those greens and beans are an awesome compliment to the catfish! I had the Rachel which was also good. The fries weren't overly salty and I loved that. Ended with a piece of day old pie that they serve for 50% off as they make a large selection of pies fresh daily. We will be back for the weekend specials and salad and soup bar. read more

Look, I don't know about you but when I think of comfort food, some kind of diner-like place comes to mind. We came here after a recommendation from a friend in Lexington who suggested it as a "can't miss it" kind of place. She was right. It was amazing with TONS of interesting lunch time offerings. Specials of the day were seafood jambalaya and catfish fingers. My wife got the huge bowl of jambalaya (and didn't need to eat again all day long!) and I opted for the combo po-boy which turned out to be catfish and shrimp. Now, normally I stay away from catfish cause of previous experience but since they sort of specialize in it, I decided how bad could it be. Well, it was FABULOUS!! The po-boy was delightful, full of flavor, a huge hoagie bun size, filled with freshly fried catfish and shrimp. Oh, and it was $6.99. So was the jambalaya. WOOT! That's what I'm talking about. I'd eat either of those again any time!! And let me ask you, where else can you get half a sandwich and soup for $4.99? That's right, $4.99. The correct answer is NOWHERE. Except Fava's. Yep. Small booths line each side of this shotgun restaurant and the menu is abundant. I had the pot roast dinner (for lunch) and it was more food than I could eat. Pretty sure my cheesefries were a babyshower gift for my mom... They look like they've sat in the window heater exactly that long. Ordered a wildcat burger and it came with no onion ring. I asked if I could get one or 2 to put on my sammich' and was told, "oh yeah, we're out of onion rings, lol." Well, that's cool and all but shouldn't you tell someone that before bringing them a burger that is supposed to have just an onion ring and bbq sauce on it? They even stacked it with a heavy amount of sliced onions.. Why??? lol, its not the same. Don't come here on weekends... Food is usually good, when it's not sitting in the window the whole time your server is catering her significant other hand and foot. Homie rolled in 30 mins after me and got refills, side salads, fresh food, with hugs and kisses before I could even land a refill let alone get my heatlamped food I've been eyelocked on for same 30 mins. Really disappointed. If you come in the week they have a totally different crew who seem to value paying customers. Love this place. I haven't had a bad meal ever here. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is fast even during a busy lunch rush. They offer a wide selection of food options at a cheap price. Their beer cheese burger is AWSOME! I recommend it to anyone. Although it is a bit messy, it is worth it. If it is sweets you are craving...They make their pies in house from scratch. I really can't get enough of their yummy peanut butter pie. My moms pies were never this good. It's been 10 years since I've last been here. I remember why I generally don't consider it when looking for places to eat. Slow service, very loud environment (ice chest doors slamming, etc). Food was your average diner type fare. Burgers, fries, soups, salads. My burger wqs decent. Nothing to do cartwheels over. Waitress was friendly, but a little slow to come to the table when we first sat down, and all through the meal. Luckily, we were killing time in town so this wasn't too much of an issue that day. Great restaurant with friendly, prompt service. It is within walking distance of Georgetown College. I had a fried chicken salad and a slice of coconut cream pie. The Pie was the best that I've tasted in a long time. The atmosphere was that of a diner and everything was clean. It did not have a greasy feel to the menu or tables. I was just traveling through and drawn to the area for the antique shops, but I was starving and needed to grab some lunch. I stopped in to Fava's and had the Betty Ann's BLT with fries and it was just what I needed. The restaurant is quaint, homey, and comfortable, and the staff were all very welcoming. Fava's is Georgetown! Since 1910. As a little girl I remember my Grandmother bringing me here for an ice cream soda. Coming here instantly warms my heart. Fava's food is as Southern as you can get! Mostly I come for eggs over-easy breakfast. It's always nice to see a local place stay busy and consistent. Once they took away butter for a whipped margarine substitute. We worked it out as the Chef had butter in the kitchen. The seating in the booths are comfortable. I ordered door dash for the first time the other night for myself and my roommate. We like to try new places . He ordered the cheesesteak and I had the beer cheese burger. The burger was wonderful. My roommate also enjoyed the cheesesteak . He said the cheesesteak had wonderful flavor and wished there had been more of it since the sandwich was kind of small. We loved the seasoned fries as well. One word: AWESOME! Delicious food - you HAVE to have the Kentucky Hot Brown! My meal: a bowl of chili (temperature a little too hot, and maybe a little watery, but still delicious), a LARGE Hot Brown (A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-!), Cole Slaw, and a slice of Butterscotch Pie - with meringue on top! Everything is made fresh, including the pies which are made daily. The Cole Slaw is also made daily. I can't say enough. My wife had a standard cheeseburger and Fava Chips, both of which she enjoyed. Extremely charming decor - vintage all around. The service was incredible! I did not get the name of the young man who was our waiter today, and was the only one working in the dining room/counter at the time we visited, but he was incredible. Had a quick lunch here while on an adventure day with my Grandson Jake. My daughter went to Georgetown College for undergrad so I've eaten here a bunch but it had been awhile. Food is diner style and locals are here in droves. Nothing fancy just good food served reasonably quick by a staff that is friendly. Lots and of choices but stick to the basics burgers are good soup and chili are good too! Homemade pies are available so save room for a slice. Fried pickles are really well known here and seem to be going to every other table. Will come again soon. read more

Excellent!! We wanted something different than your average chain restaurant and just happened to find Fava's for dinner. Loved the diner, felt like we stepped back in time. Portions were huge! Cheddar fries and homemade ranch dressing were delicious as was everything we had.
