It's also a super long review, but for Suzanna it's worth it. My wife is actually the one who recommended me to Suzanna. I was stressing out about where to take my tuxedo. I've worked with several tailors around the area and while all of them were pretty decent, none of them wowed me. It didn't help that I had some unusual requests that I knew would get some judgment and pushback from most tailors (I wanted tux sleeves and pant hem at about 4/5 length, VERY short). That's when my wife recommended Suzanna. My wife actually brought THREE of her dresses to Suzanna. My wife also had some unusual requests and she said Suzanna was super nice and easy to work with, and was willing to do the odd requests after a small amount of explaining. Encouraged by my wife's experience, I gave Suzanna a visit. She was sooo incredibly nice and friendly. She was an absolute darling. I explained to her my untraditional requests, and she gave me an unsure (but still friendly) look. She made a joke that she's gonna have to make me sign a waiver promising that I won't write a poor review if she does what I'm asking, LOL. I promised her I knew what I was asking for, and that I would not blame her for the outcome if it looked bad. She agreed to take on the job. The whole exchange was very funny and friendly. She also has great memory, I told her my then-fiancée had come in 2-3 weeks prior to drop off her dress and she still remembered exactly who I was talking about! She made sure to give me a pickup date for my tuxedo on a different day than my fiancée's so that I don't accidentally see her dress. When she told me the price for those several major alterations on a total of 3 pieces of clothing (tux top, tux pants, tux shirt), I guffawed. Suzanna asked me if it was too much. But no, it was the exact opposite. I couldn't believe how reasonable it was. It was more than fair. My then-fiancée and I went to pick up my entire wedding outfit, just 2 weeks later. When I put on the whole tux, I couldn't believe how nice everything felt. It felt so premium and so comfortable. It was literally made for me. It fit exactly how I wanted, it was perfect in every single way. Not only did it make me LOOK good, it made me FEEL comfortable, it made me FEEL good and confident, everything a well-tailored outfit should be. It was clear she is extremely talented and has an eye for her craft. So much care and effort and precision went into each article of clothing, into each stitch. And it's not just my tuxedo either, every single one of my wife's wedding dresses came out perfectly and flawlessly. She loved how each one felt and flowed. Suzanna literally did both of our entire wedding outfits. You can tell from the pictures I've posted that Suzanna did an incredible job and the outfits not only looked good in person but also came out beautifully in photographs. We'd like to thank Suzanna sincerely from the bottom of our hearts for making us look so good and feel so good for our wedding. Thanks for all the kindness and caring. Thanks for being understanding of our weird and unorthodox requests and executing our vision. Suzanna played such a big part of our wedding and her beautiful work will forever be immortalized on the photos we hang on our walls and pass down to our children. I saw they have 5 stars but Most importantly when I called and I told him the time crunch, he said just bring it in and it was ready maybe past 3 o'clock so I went in the lady was so patient and kind she already had two people ahead of me that were in the middle of trying things on, so I waited a bit and when it was my turn, she was so patient and kind took her time with me. I was just ready to be rushed or something because it was so last minute, but she took her time and the amount of work I needed basically a suit jacket to be taken in two sizes. I really didn't think it was going to be possible in the short amount of time but she did it. She said they don't even charge rush on it. The next day it was ready. I can't thank them enough for saving me. God bless their hands and I will be bringing so much more for them to work on and will be telling everyone to go here thank you guys so much.

Every single time I drop something off, it's the same chaotic scene: customers standing around while staff frantically dig through piles trying to figure out where anything is. It's not an occasional hiccup -- it's the standard experience here. You can see it in real time: nobody knows where anything is. This time, it finally caught up with me. My daughter's school uniform pants are GONE. Not "we're still looking" -- gone. I was told they may have handed them off to a random stranger by mistake. Let that sink in: they lost my child's clothing and think it's acceptable to shrug and say it "may" have gone home with someone else. This isn't about the money. It's about the fact that I now cannot trust this business with anything, after years of giving them the benefit of the doubt. If you value your belongings even a little, take them somewhere else. I went in on a Saturday to get a dress altered and she means business! Immediately she said hi, pointed me to a fitting room, and started asking questions. I loved it. Absolute professional. I walked out and she said I needed nothing done. She adjusted my straps and told me with the shoes my dress was perfect. She was honest and straightforward and I'm bringing all my clothes to her from now on. I even asked her if the straps needed to be more secure and what her opinion was of a second slit. She gave me her feedback and told me it was unnecessary when a lesser person would've taken my money. She's an expert and she's amazing. I'll be back. I'll pay whatever she tells me because I know she's honest. These are the people we need running businesses.

5 Stars - Lifesaver Before the Emmys!…read more I came to LA for the Emmys and the night before my flight, I tried on my dress--only to realize it was way too big. I had lost a bit of weight and the fit was completely off. The dress looked boxy and frumpy, and I honestly started to panic. Thankfully, I found Lina--the amazing owner of Alterations Et Al in West Hollywood. I reached out and she invited me to bring the dress in to see what could be done. She was so warm, kind, and professional--and even with the tight turnaround, she agreed to take on the rush job. The dress needed a lot of work, but when I picked it up, it fit like a glove. It looked flawless and felt like it had been custom-made for me. Lina is not only incredibly talented, but also fast, detail-oriented, and just lovely to work with. So many people told me I looked beautiful that night--and a few even said I was one of the best dressed. That's 100% thanks to Lina's amazing work. When I came for my scheduled follow up appt 2 weeks later, she was not there nor was my dress in the store. I made another appointment, when I showed up, she had not done the sleeves, and the adjustment to the bodice was bad and she had changed how the zipper laid. In total, I went to her place 5 times before taking the dress to another person, 3 of those 5 times she was no show/reschedule. Mary was very mean to me, demanding that she never said certain alterations were included, like bringing in the sides, and I had to produce the receipt she had written it down on. After seeing her handwriting, she then said very mean things about my body and made me cry. The other alterations person said she did the bodice and the zipper in a non professional way. Mary said she would give me a half refund of $250, of which she only has given $80 bc I showed up in person asking and it has been 3 months of me asking. I think if your a UCLA student looking to get pants hemmed, her store would be a great fit, but I would avoid for any wedding or complicated things. Make sure you take a picture of what you drop off and have her write down what she's agreed to do -- she spent a lot of time saying untrue things, and then I'd show her the picture of how the zipper looked before she messed it up, etc. Included is a picture of her work where she 'fixed' the bodice chest part.

A pink crochet dress that was 2 sizes too big and magically altered it everywhere. 2. My Monique Lhuillier wedding dress. I couldn't trust this piece to just anyone, but was convinced she would be the hands to do it especially after she told me she used to make wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses. So, her design background was extremely valuable to me. She was able to hem it from the middle as the bottom hem was untouchable because of the design, changed the dress to a halter at my request and hand sewn the lace pieces back into place- masterful ! It was a rush job (2 weeks) but It fit me like a glove on my wedding day with so much ease and joy! 3. My wedding reception dance dress It had vertical tulle that was NOT easy to trim but she DID it , made me a slip, and made it into a halter with 2 invisible buttons to adjust the length. 4. Hemming my bridesmaid dress. No picture but it was hemmed about 5 inches to perfection. Eventhough I live outside of LA now, i will still only trust my dresses to her!
