If this was only about the food, I'd give Feast 5 stars. I love their food and have ordered from there multiple times. The last two times however, my orders have been messed up. The last time they forgot my fries and today they gave me someone else's order, which I did not find out until I got home to Ewa. I had already been waiting outside for 20 min. for my order, which I had placed online last night. So when the girl finally walked an order out to me, I could only assume it was mine. I will check every order from here on out. When I finally called Feast, they said they realized the orders had been switched, but no one bothered to call me. I could have easily turned around to pick it up. In a time when all restaurants rely so heavily on take-out, attention to things like this are important. Unfortunately, mistakes like this are going to start affecting the bottom line. Today they had to refund me the cost of my order plus remake someone else's order, I hope they can figure this out sooner rather than later. read more

Chef jon matsubara has opened up his restaurant and it's very good food. It's a "bite" place. Not your typical plate lunch place. But you gotta go and eat there. Food comes out fast n its delicious. Try the hilo hamburger burger steak place. 1 scoop rice, his version of Cole slaw and 2 piece homemade hamburger. Covered with mushrooms, onion, and gravy. Its killer. I can't rave enough about this place. I got the lobster roll and a chocolate cookie. First I'd like to say that the staff is super welcoming and professional. After I ordered she asked where I parked and suggested I could park in their driveway (it was full when I drove up) and she will bring my food to me when it's ready. I did just that, I pulled up and she waved me in. Food was ready in about 7 minutes and she brought it right out to my car. They are located on the corner of E Moana and Lowery. There's plenty of street parking and a few lots in the area that are convenient to park and walk over. Food was delicious! Good amount of lobster that tasted fresh and nicely seasoned. Finally, got to try this palace last weekend. Staring at the lobster roll pics on IG, got me drooling. Naturally, I had to the try the lobster roll, Hubs got the cheese steak sandwich, and the frozen chili for laters. Called my order in as soon as they opened. I would've ordered it online but it said that the cheese steak was sold out and no option to order the frozen chili. Parking is nil, so I dropped off the husband to pick up and I waited in the car, as I was parked where I wasn't supposed to. It took awhile before we got home to eat. Anywho, on to the food, when I opened my container I was a bit disappointed because I thought there was going to be a tad more lobster. My disappointment was soon washed away, the lobster, umami mayo, sweet bread, dill, and squeeze of lemon, made for a good bite, several in fact. Well, today I bought 2-sandwiches 1-for my friend who makes me lunch every Tuesday and Thursday and 1-for myself . Mostly for my friend who said the sandwich was delicious. She said the best sandwich she ever had as well as the fries! I will definitely buy these sandwiches again and order the extra butter-good with the fries!!! When I think of Feast and their lobster rolls, the song lyrics of "You're the best! Around! Nothing's gonna ever keep you down!" by Joe Esposito comes to mind. Yes, $21 seems like a bit much but what's so bad about spoiling yourself every now and then with these very generous portions of huge lobster chunks on sweet, sweet Hawaiian rolls? The fries are so delicious and fresh and so crisp. Even after a 10 minute car ride back to the crib, the fries didn't even come close to disappointment. Definitely coming back here from time to time to indulge. COVID-19 safety precautions were outstanding and the takeout was delivered right to my car after I ordered. WOW!!!!!! Lobster roll is AMAZING! Very generous on amount of lobster and the bread reminds us of the sizzlers cheese bread. Thick, Moist, & ONO-licious. Also ordered a single patty burger for my keikis. Each order had French fries and for my lobster roll I added bacon, which was one big crispy bacon. Located in manoa across of Bangkok kitchen. If you notice, I believe it was the restaurant in HI 5-0 that mcgarrett & Dan-o opened up together. Called in order when we were driving by Aloha tower and when we got there it was ready. Loved the Lobster roll so much, had to get another. A litle disappointing this time. The amount of lobster in the roll wasn't as much compared to the previous one. About 1" on each end if the roll was empty. It was busy when I picked up, so hoping that was just a one off occurence. Also had two orders of hambuger steak. On one plate, the hamburger steak was almost red and what looked like rice grains were hard. Although the outside had a nice char to it, the inside was not cooked very well. The other plate was okay. You can either pick up inside or curbside which is convenient. Anyway, the food was delish! From the rave reviews, we thought we should try it out. Very disappointed. Ordered a couple lobster rolls, a feast mix plate and hamburger steak plate. Got it on time for my scheduled pick up. Dropped off a roll to my sister at work and went home to enjoy lunch with the family. Lobster rolls had a lot of meat, but needed a little more taste. Had no butter or salt. Wasn't briny at all. Had some shells in there too. Shoestring fries were overcooked and hollow, like no potatoes in them. Hamburger steaks and salads were tasty and ok, but the fried chicken was way overcooked and dry. The sauce for it didn't help because they only gave enough for 1 piece of chicken. The regular dipping sauce at the fast foods give more. I do support local eateries as much as I can, but the reviews did no justice. Drove from the west side to try it out and was not impressed. read more

Finally got to try Feast! I'm glad they are doing takeout during covid. I tried the deep dish pizza and it was delicious! Only $12 and it came with a salad. I hope they put this special on their regular menu. The inside space is breezy but small so it's good that they are only doing takeout at this time. Feast is the new kid on the block and one definitely worth checking out! This place is renowned chef, Jon Matsubara's, first solo restaurant. It seems Matsubara's vision is to provide gourmet food at affordable prices--something I can sure get behind! Feast is currently open on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11am to 6pm. I have only been to Feast once so far. It was one late Thursday afternoon around 4:20pm. We wanted to grab takeout for dinner so we called ahead to place an order. We both had high hopes of trying the JFC (Jonny's Fried Chicken) which has rave reviews and was even talked about on the local news that morning. Unfortunately, the lady on the phone informed us they were out of many items, including the JFC and crispy agedashi soft shell crab. Our dreams of an onolicious fried food dinner were crushed but we took the opportunity to try other menu items. We ordered their Hamakua mushroom bisque ($5), McBara burger & fries ($12) and butter poached crab & bacon sandwich ($15). We were quoted a wait time of 30 minutes. Our food was waiting for me when I arrived for pick-up, which I appreciated. I could see Chef Matsubara up close and personal in the kitchen calling out orders and expediting, which was neat! I stood in line for around 10 minutes because the friendly cashier had to spend a good deal of time answering questions from the elderly lady in front of me. (It didn't help that they were out of most menu items.) The food was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my butter poached crab & bacon sandwich. The Hamakua mushroom bisque was tasty but not worth the price due to extremely small portion size and tepid temperature. Feast is close enough to UH Manoa that it's a worthwhile lunch trip between classes. The service is really fast and friendly, whether you're taking out or eating in. They serve the food in takeout containers regardless, so it's easy to take food back if you don't finish it all or if you need to rush to class. We ordered the soft shell crab salad and the Hilo style hamburger steak. The salad was perfectly dressed and the dressing paired well with the crab and pickled green papaya side. The hamburger steak was nothing exceptional, but definitely delicious and super tender. It will fulfill any hamburger steak craving. The cauliflower Mac salad was a surprising highlight! It tasted like Mac salad, but was light and refreshing. Considering that Feast is only a few dollars more than what they're charging at UH Manoa campus center for similar types of meals (obviously the quality at campus center does not compare), I think that it's well worth the money. read more

Very disappointing. Was really optimistic about this place from the reviews, the chef's rep and the possibility I would no longer have to drive to the NS for a crab and bacon sandwich. Problem is the sandwich was tasteless, soggy and twice the price. I'm from NYC and have no problem paying for quality but $60 for 2 crappy sandwiches, fries and a couple of cans of Coke is nonsense. If the sound of crab and bacon sounds good (and it is) take a ride to Ted's Bakery. You can even get a slice of delicious famous pie for what Feast charges for a mediocre cookie. read more

After hearing our friends rave about their plate lunches from Feast, we looked over the menu on its website and called in our dinner takeout order about 30 minutes before closing time. I ordered the McBara Hamburger & Fries, and my husband and adult son both ordered the JFC (Jonny's Fried Chicken). Our food was fantastic! The burger was perfectly cooked, juicy, and not greasy. The thin cucumber pickles were crunchy and refreshing. The mountain of shoestring fries was seasoned just right. My men loved the fried chicken, and the keto "Mac" salad was a pleasant surprise.
