I came here for a scheduled state inspection and was genuinely impressed from start to finish. The front desk employee, Tim, was extremely courteous, kind, and patient in explaining everything. He walked me through the inspection process in detail and let me know that they look beyond just the bare minimum of the state inspection to make sure the car is in good overall shape. My car ended up passing without any issues, but I still left feeling very informed about its condition. Tim took the time to explain what they checked and why. The atmosphere was welcoming and I felt like they actually cared about me as a customer. The state inspection was also done right away, as scheduled, which was a huge plus. No long wait, no runaround. I am genuinely happy to give them more of my business in the future. If I need tires or any kind of repair work, this is where I am coming back. I recently went to ferbers to get some work done, and everything seemed ok, employees were nice but they played alot of price games, Over charging for there services. And after they repaired 1 issue I immediately had another happen when my truck had no issues before coming here besides it needed a oil and oil pan change so they said...I will not return because they became cold when I had an issue with there way of doing business.. My DD and I stopped here because we had just got four new tires and the steering wheel was vibrating a lot. For background, we had a similar situation a few years ago, stopped at a different tire place and they told us it was a good thing we stopped because the lug nuts were not pit on right and one of our wheels was about to come off. Very scary. So, with that in mind, were worried of a repeat and so we stopped at Ferber's, told them our story and asked if they could check the lug nuts. They were so nice, accommodating and brought one of their mechanics out to check them and did a tightness check on all of them with their tool. I can't thank them enough for being friendly, helpful and thorough. If I lived in that area, they are the business I would take my car to and recommend to others. read more

Stay away from this place they tried ripping me off. IE $200 for a $66 part across the street at O'Reilly's auto parts. $600 of labor to install a radiator hose that only has three clamps. Quoted $800 plus coolant. I spoke with the district manager Chris even showed him the part explained how easy it was to change and still looked me in the eye lying saying it's $600 worth of labor. As a disabled veteran I went across the street to o'reillys bought the hose and coolant for $66 dollars they even lent me a pair of pliers and screwdriver and with no car experience I changed it in 15 minutes. When I called to address they still claim it would have been a $800 repair. Stay away so you don't have to pay $40 a MINUTE for car repairs! read more

Ferber's is good. they are having growing pains as they are dealing with retirements. Still trust them.

My brother took his car to Ferber's a year ago for State Inspection, and Ferber's recommended Brake fluid Exchange, Power Steering Fluid service Fuel Systems Cleaning, Replace hood struts ($242), Replace Front Suspension Strut Assembly ($842), Replace Rear Suspension Strut Assembly ($942) and several other things. I took the car to my excellent, long time mechanic, who flushed and replaced brake fluid and replaced hood strut for about 1/2 what Ferber's quoted and said that none of the rest of that stuff needed to be done. My brother went back to Ferber's (which is walking distance from his house) this year for oil change and State Inspection, and Ferber's recommended much of the same stuff again (except this time they for some reason left off the suspension strut assemblies which had not been done last year) including the power steering fluid which had been done last year. This year the quotes for brake fluid, power steering fluid and fuel system cleaning were much higher, and this year they added transmission fluid for $446. Unfortunately, my brother, who does not know much about cars and is a trusting soul, agreed. The car was running fine when he brought it in, but he left with a bill for $2637. Maybe some of the things needed to be done, like replacing a tie rod, but they charged $140 just in labor for that, typically a 1/2 hour job, plus another $130 for alignment. I showed the bill to my mechanic who said that "they should be put in jail". I went to Ferber's to complain and the response was to the effect of "well, he agreed to it". Needed a Virginia state inspection. Dropped the vehicle first thing in the morning. About lunch received notice the vehicle failed due to a cracked tail light. Cost to repair was quoted at $267. Felt the cost was excessive so obtained a replacement for a fraction of the $267. Picked up the vehicle and advised the company I would replace the tail light in the parking lot and requested they reinspect and issue the inspection certificate. This occurred reasonably quick. Once home reviewed the Virginia requirement which state cracked tail lights are allowed. So the reason for failure was not valid. This combined with excessive quote appears to be shameful scam. Made online appointment which they changed to a day that I didn't request. Called and spoke with a guy who scheduled a new date and time. I show up to the new scheduled time and they didn't have me scheduled!! Go figure! To make it right, they should have offered to squeeze me in since it was for a small task, but they just stated they couldn't get the vehicle in today and allowed me to walk out! If you're not in the midst of a pandemic, this is a reasonably ok, albeit expensive, place to get your oil changed and tires rotated. In these times, though, I hesitate to recommend it. The first visit I made during the summer was business as I experienced it before COVID: no mask, no real distancing, and no recognition of state government requirements for public health and safety, including not disinfecting my car after the mechanic drove it. On the second, at a sister location, I encountered a poster on the front door that had an emoji with a mask and slanted, slitted eyes. This image could be construed as racist, mocking the supposed origin of the virus. The message was pretty much nudge nudge, wink wink you don't have to wear a mask. This poster also is displayed at this location's door since my summer visit. Because of these issues, I would recommend taking your business to companies who do value public safety and health. read more
