I wish I could say better: I was scheduled at 1:15 and my friend was scheduled for 1:45 on a Saturday to have complete hair transformation. My friend was the one to have scheduled this appointment. After weeks of being excited for this appointment, I left that place in tears and here's why. Both my friend and I were scheduled for single process, cut, and blow dry. I wanted my hair a slightly dark red and my friend wanted half her hair black and grey. I was told they could not do my hair because they didn't have the time since they closed at 3, also it was not considered single process and was considered full highlights. I was told it would take 3-4 hours for it to be bleached and that it just could not be done. At this point I was disappointed after being excited to be told no. They tried to convince me to have a keratin treatment done that day and come in the week after to do my dye my hair. I obviously said no because it wasn't what I wanted not to mention expensive. I decided to just get my hair layered and blow dried. Lets just say by the end of my session, I came out looking like Shirley temple and nothing looked different with my layers. In the end I paid $86 and left crying at how upset I was with my hair and experience. I noticed my friend was having no issues with her stylists. Keep in mind my friend's hair is just as dark as mine and way longer than mine (her's is to her butt). ALSO keep in mind she's getting not one color but 2. She told me the only issue she had was that she wasn't going to be able to do the other color grey and got it a green instead. I went home and waited to pick up my friend, expecting for her to call me at 3 since they closed that time anyway. BUT didn't end up picking her up till 6 close to 7 AT NIGHT! She came out with her hair dyed two colors like she wanted and looked flawless...my friend... the one who has her appointment a half hour later than mine!!! Clearly her hair was bleached to achieve the aqua green that was on her head. BUT yet I was told they didn't have the time to do my hair that was ONE color and nowhere was bright as the color she had! I am extremely frustrated at the way this was handled. I will not be returning to this hair salon. Also I want to mention, my friend is Brazilian and the way this made me feel is if they showed some race favoritism. I really wish I didn't have to experience that because I was in love with the work done before all over social media but you guys have really messed up on this one. I don't know how you can tell me I couldn't get mine done and hers was done with no issues and left close to 7 at night, she's my proof there's no sugar coating it. read more

this place is NOT suitable for asians!!! Unless you have healthy virgin hair, I would not recommend this place, I've been to this place two times to color my hair. I paid $300 each time including the tip (a little generous since I never got the color I wanted) I always come in with the intention of going pastel or ash (I've dyed my hair before coming here and my hair was brassy which would be fixed) and they told me both times that it's not possible. Instead of being honest and telling me they can't give me what I want in one session and moving on, they try to get me to go for a "caramel blonde" when I specifically asked for ash purple/gray so that I could stay and waste my money. Lol... When I went to MG artistic they gave me the color that I wanted in ONE SESSION even with the dark blue dye that Fernanda put in my hair (I requested an ashy blue the second session). Blue is one of the toughest colors to remove and yet they did it without telling me it was. I'm not bashing, I'm sure this salon is great for people with other types of hair who are willing to be patient w a lot of money. The workers are nice but they don't put their full attention on you. They work on other clients during your time which might be the reason why they couldn't give me the color I wanted in one session. They claimed my hair would be super damaged, funny how I went to the other salon and they gave me the ash gray that I wanted after Fernanda damaged my hair in one session and my hair looks better than before lmao. And the other salons finished my hair first (7 hr process) before moving on to other clients. This is a warning to my asian peeps w previously colored hair seeking a pastel or ash. UPDATED: You're still missing the point. If I'm paying the same amount as I would at any other salon, I'm expecting my hair to come out at least close to the color that I wanted. If you believe that you are incapable of achieving it within one session then I think it's fair to let the customer know and not waste their time--as other salons have turned me down because they were honest in it being unachievable. I never claimed that this business discriminates against Asians in general, I just said it's not suitable for Asians with previously treated hair like mine. How unethical of you to assume it's anything deeper. It's funny because if it were easy to go to ash/purple with blue then why didn't you just do it? When I showed my before pictures of my brassy hair to other salons they said it was easy to turn into any fashion color maybe not super pastel or platinum but ash purple was achievable from that starting point. They politely turned me down though since I had the blue dye and it would be nearly impossible to do without damaging it. I'm giving Asians WITH previously colored hair a heads up. Feel free to hide this review but I am sticking with my gut and opinion and not recommending this place to my asian friends who have colored hair. It's about hair, nothing deeper than that than what you are making it. I'm not bashing on your service either, the employees were very, very nice and made me feel comfortable but the outcome with my hair made me uncomfortable as it did to my bank account. My hair turned green after a few washes and even after using Fanola no yellow shampoo, the green was still in tact. If you want to increase customer retention, maybe try being more honest and flexible next time. Last update again: He did test it and told me no. Then I went to another salon who genuinely wanted to help me achieve the color I wanted and they tested it again, like any other stylist would, and said they couldn't. I kept telling them how much I wanted it and how other salons have never been able to give me my dream color and they took it as a challenge and big risk as a hair stylist. 9 hours, one session, MOSTLY to remove the blue you gave me, the rest was easy for them. Your blue was not one less session, it was an obstacle. You made it an obstacle to get my desired hair color. Blue is one of the toughest colors to remove. They could've dealt with brass EASILY. Again, you said it's not achievable but it's common curtesy to give your customer an option of backing out because it is their hair and money that you are taking care of. You said it's not possible in one session but never bluntly told me that if I wasn't going to be satisfied with the ash or caramel highlights to just try a different salon. My friend who also had asian virgin hair (keep in mind we all have different hair and asian hair tend to have more orangey red pigments especially when mixed with bleach) wanted an ash blonde balayage, paid a lot and said you gave her a caramel orange brown which is the reason why she never returned for the other sessions. read more

I just got my keratin, color and cut with Fernanda and its unreal. She took a ton of time and I am beyond thrilled with the outcome. She brightened my blonde with bayalage. I also have tough grays and she covered them. The keratin is the best keratin I've ever had. Overall I couldn't be happier with my experience and highly recommend Fernanda to all! This is my third time here since June. I had found a great salon but they don't do keratin treatments and I needed to tame my curly hair so I got the groupon for Fernanda' and booked my appointment. First appointment had a brief wait and as a single mom of a 7 year old I enjoyed the wait reading magazines, something I never get to do at home. Had a wash and the treatment done by a really nice young brunette girl. She was friendly and chatty but not overly chatty. When the keratin was done this young blonde cut my hair. I was SHOCKED when I found out she was Fernanda. She is young but very talented. I loved my newly straighted hair and lasted 3 months. Cam back last week for another keratin treatment and am here right now getting bayalage color. Fernanda is a smart, well spoken, talented stylist. Don't let her age fool you she knows her stuff. Amazing Keratin Treatment!!! I had the absolute BEST experience at Fernanda's! I've walked by it a million times on my commute and was in desperate need of a Keratin Treatment from all the humid weather. Thanks to all the positive Yelp reviews on their kertain treatments, I pulled the trigger... and I'M SO HAPPY. This is my 5th kertain treatment... I've been to salons in Sudbury, Newton, North End.. and this is by far the best one I've ever gotten. I really appreciated that they had 2 girls working on my hair during the "long" parts (blow drying, painting in the product) which sped along the process, and everyone was really nice and friendly. Typically leaving in the product for 3 days is a pain bec/ my hair gets gross, but she used the right amount so my hair wasn't overly "processed" looking and I felt fine going into work Monday :) It's been 1 week and my hair still looks perfect, such a life changer having smooth, silky, easy straight hair..I truly couldn't be happier !! I've gotten so many compliments and recommended Fernanda's to all my unwieldy-haired friends. She also gave me an amazing hair cut at the end too :) Alsoooo so many girls were getting bayalage coloring and it looked so good.. probably will go back for that. I booked a Keratin appointment with Nery based on a recommendation, and she did not disappoint. I've gotten Keratin treatments a handful of times at various salons, but Nery has done the best job by far. I have never had a stylist take the time to make sure every strand of hair was straight. I'm always hesitant to spend so much money on something that has no guarantee on how long it'll last, but the final product was absolutely worth it. Although the process does take awhile, my hair has never been so shiny and so straight. It really does show that she cares about providing the best work to her clients. I will never get Keratin done with anyone else! read more

Daniela, thank you for my amazing hair color! What you did was clearly witchcraft because I simply showed you a picture, and you created a masterpiece. I came into your salon with outgrown highlights which actually should've been a balayage from the beginning but the other salon I went to obviously had no idea what a balayage was. Your blending techniques were spectacular! I just can't say enough good things about how perfectly blended my color is. It definitely was on the expensive side (about $360 with tip for color and blowdry/style) but I would gladly pay that amount and get it right the first time! And to top it off, its just the first day but I've already gotten countless compliments on my hair color. I highly recommend Daniela for coloring and she will definitely be my go to from now on. :) read more

I've gotten Keratin at 5 places. Fernanda's is by far the longest lasting and most effective. For me, it lasted about 5 months and I could probably make it last longer but my roots were growing in. All of the staff are great! read more

I came in as a walk-in a few weeks back and they were super accommodating. Bruna did my blow dry and she was super nice and friendly! I really loved the level of attention she gave me and really loved my curls. Chris took my pictures in the back room, where there is a little studio and I loved it! She was super nice and funny. I had an excellent visit to Fernanda's. My cutter and colorist was Shirley, who seemed new but Fernanda was available throughout my appointment to help Shirley learn bayalage, which I had no problem with. They spent three hours on my hair and were attentive to me the whole time, even though they were super busy. Fernanda and Shirley helped me pick out a good shade for my hair with minimum maintenance, and weren't forceful about purchasing shampoo that I expressed interest in. I will be back! read more

Definitely a "Yay! I'm a fan rating" I scheduled a balayage appt online because of the sale they are currently having ($99 for balayage). Super convenient and easy scheduling website online. Great service- I love that they are open early at 7am so I didn't have to miss much of work to get an appt. Also, b/c I went in early there wasn't any other customers at the salon. I let the girls know I could only stay for a bout 2.5 hrs because I had to go to work. They were extremely sensitive to my time constraints and both of them worked on my hair at once! Stella and Daniella did an amazing job- made me feel extremely special because they both helped me out. They were honest about what they could or could not do with my hair in relation to the pictures I showed them. I love that because they promised what they could, and didn't oversell. My hair is black so I understand that you can only lighten it so much without it breaking. They are "younger" than most hairdressers I've been to but don't worry, they know their stuff! The girls answered all my questions and explained the process to me all the way through. Only comment would be to make sure you account for extra time if you are dyeing your hair. The website says 2hrs for balayage but I would allot for at least 3 hrs. Also, a blow dry is $25 which is definitely on the pricey side. I will definitely be returning in the future. I very RARELY go back to the same salon twice, Fernanda is amazing! I was full color virgin, only highlights ever in my life, and I went in for a balyage. Amazing, as always! Came back to Fernanda's for my Keratin roots a few weeks ago. I was a little disappointed as after the 3 day wait I washed my hair and the results were not as good as in previous occasions, and my hair was still quite frizzy and curly. However, it took a quick call to the salon to get me rescheduled for an appointment in which Fernanda and her husband re-did the treatment super thoroughly. After two weeks, I can say that the results are the high quality that is usual at the salon. It is quite reassuring to know that Fernanda stands by the quality of her products and the integrity of her salon and will re-do your treatment if the results are not what you desired. I've been going to Fernanda's for over a year now and I love them! Service is awesome and everyone is so patient and accommodating. I usually see Estella and she is amazing! She always understands what I want to achieve with my hair and I can always trust her (I usually have severe trust issues with salons). The first time I came in was for a blonde balayage in 2016, at that point my hair had been through a few years of self bleaching and brown/red dyes so I had quite the hair history. From the very beginning, everyone has walked me through the process of achieving and maintaining balayage that was nicely toned and healthy. Since then I have retouched my balayage a few more times and I almost always leave satisfied. Any time I found myself less than happy with the result, Estella always made sure we did something that would get my hair where I wanted to, making sure that my hair's health was in tact also. I've lived in Boston for 6 years and have not found a salon remotely as good as Fernanda's. They use Goldwell products, which are arguably the best in the industry. Fernanda got my hair to a bright, even-toned, radiant purple when every other salon told me it simply wasn't possible and I ended up with purple-ish roots and damaged red tips every time. And she did it without bleach or lightener. She must be a wizard. For half at what I paid at upscale salons in Boston proper, I got a result that was endlessly better. Daniela did my hair and WOW. It came out so great! My hair has been through a lot..it is naturally very dark and a reddish tone. She gave me the perfect balayage and took the time to melt in the toner perfectly to give me the more ashy-blue color that I like to achieve. Olaplex helped her achieve the lightness that I had wanted without damaging the ends like magic! The rest of the hairdressers act as a team to help each other finish in a timely manner and they are so pleasant to all of their guests. I love this place and will absolutely be returning! read more

I have been going to Fernanda's for the past year, and I always go back to Estela - she is AMAZING. In a year my hair went from bright blonde to ash, to red/purple, to dark brown/copper balayage, to cool white/blonde with pink tips, and Estela has made it happen every time. Every time I go to her she is so attentive to what I am looking for, and puts in the time to get the color, tone, and blend perfect. The last time I saw Estela she spent the entire day with me doing a color correction (my roots had grown out and I had 6 mo old color) to get my hair an evenly blended bright blonde. Even when I didn't notice the any uneven tone, she put in the extra work to get it *perfect*. She takes a lot of pride in her work, and really knows what she's doing with color. Besides her amazing talent, she's also a genuinely nice and fun person to talk to. She's really good about asking me questions about what I want, and walking me through the process as she does my hair (keeping me hydrated/caffeinated/fed in the process, too!). I have made some dramatic changes to my hair color in the last year, and I keep going back to Estela because I 100% trust her expertise, especially when I want to take a risk.
