Located inside the Burgess Hotel, this cute little restaurant is definitely one of my new favorites in Atlanta. Having gone with a group, we were able to order various items and they were all great, some outstanding than others. Appetizers: - Pan seared potato gnocchi - Grilled ciabatta - Charred octopus - Caprese salad My entree: - Bone-in short rib Sides: - Crispy brussels sprouts - Grilled broccolini Dessert: - Goat cheese & local honey panna cotta - Bananas foster - Vanilla creme brulee - Key lime tart It's hard to pick as everything was really delicious, full of flavor. But my favorites would have to be the gnocchi (that sauce!), ciabatta (def recommend dipping in the gnocchi sauce), and brussels sprouts. Oh, can't forget the short rib - it was a thing of beauty. Everything was amazing. Came for a birthday dinner. We're made a reservation but unfortunately the host told us people were staying longer than typical and our table wasn't ready. We understand, people have been locked down (or reducing how much they go out the last year). We'replanning to go to the bar after dinner anyway so it was a win win. We sat at the sexy bar and ordered a drink. The bartender was pleasant, attentive, and managed drink orders well. The bar was beautifully stocked and the bar area was picturesque. The host kept us abreast of our table being available. I heard maybe the apologies for the delay. The bar wins four new because my personal test of a good bar is thre ability to make a good basil gin gimlet. The drink itself is very simple but only stocked bars/ kitchens have fresh basil on hand. The bartender perfectly muddled and strained my cocktail to have a slight essence of basil. The dining room is dimly lit and somewhat mysterious. It's not a large dining room but it also felt full. There is a view of the kitchen where the staff is cooking up a storm like a delicate dance. Our server refreshed our cocktails and got started with recommendations. The server went through the menu as if it was a tasting menu, carefully describing the dishes, cooking style, and flavor profiles. My group settled on the following: Braised Lamb Shank Chicken Tangine Crispy Brussels Grilled Meatballs Bar fries Grilled brocolini Whole Grilled Branzino The grilled meatballs elicited a happy food jig in my seat. The fresh herbs, tender meatballs, and a green sauce... gaaaah. Delicious. I had a smattering of things because I wanted to try several sides and couldn't commit to an entree. Also, these might be the best fries in Atlanta. So some but the salt/chili dust was perfect. The tagine chicken was served tableside in a dramatic tandoori pot that is "unveiled" on the table. It was perfectly tender and delicate blend of savory, olives, Tangine flavorings. The almond rice was a nice touch too. The braised lamb shank was larger than a baby arm. I actually believe there were two shanks on the plate. The lamb wasnt gamey and super tender. I didnt personally try the branzino but Jr was described as mild, flakey white fish with hardly any bones. The only thing that keeps this from a 5 star experience is how long it rob to get the bill. We were sitting maybe 10ft from the server station but we couldn't get our servers attention for maybe 15mins AFTER we were done our meal. No wonder the previous guest ran over our reservation. I would absolutely go back and suggest it to others. There is no formal dress code but every one from the guest, chef, server, host, and bartender looked nice. This was our pre-Valentine's dinner with friends and it was amazing. I've been to Fia before and enjoyed it each time, but after last night, I felt it was time to show my appreciation. It's definitely going to be on our short list of repeat restaurants. The food is amazing. I don't want to go into the minutia of each dish but we ordered just about every appetizer and wish we had ordered the missing ones. You cannot go wrong. The decor transports you to exotic lands and despite being all this, you still feel like you are at a family owned intimate eatery where everyone really cares. It's obvious the staff has a lot of pride in what they do and the restaurant they work at. Are you one of those people like me who wonders "what has happened to customer service"? Well, Fia remembers. Everyone was terrific but Yannick (The GM) and Chef Burgess were absolute standouts. I couldn't believe it when Chef Burgess brought out certain dishes to our table himself! Fia is one of my absolute favorite restaurant in Atlanta. The food here is so good it is ridiculous. My girlfriends and I will often do girls night here. The vibe of this place is everything. It's one of the best restaurants to take pictures in and the Mr. B's bar that's attached you definitely must go over there and take pictures. The prices are really good for this fine dining establishments. I have even had the chef come out and speak to our table before so they are very personable and the service is great! My favorite thing here is the pork belly and grits I could eat five plates of those and be extremely happy. The brussels sprouts are also a must they're like sweets and so deliciously crispy. I have not gotten anything from here that I have not liked. This is a great date night spot. read more

This restaurant doesn't stand out from the street, but it's a good find. It's on the ground floor of a small hotel. Reservations were simple, staff was very helpful. It's a very pretty restaurant, with various seating options in the social/bar area. Our food was delicious, cooked well. The filet was great quality. Main dishes don't come with sides, you need to order those separately. The spicy spaghetti was homemade and also great. Grilled focaccia was YUM. Tables were not too crowded. You can self-park to the side & back of the building. The only "con" is that it's pretty pricey - you can't eat here on a budget at all. But otherwise, I'd definitely go back! read more

Very nice restaurant in Buckhead. Easy to get to and easy to park, which is half the battle. The restaurant is very pretty, inside the Burgess hotel. It's lovely. And, it seems to be very very popular. Dinner was very good, with a couple of missteps. Everybody loved the hummus appetizer, which is a little bit different than usual; it's heated and spiced up. People also loved the meatball appetizer, and the Caesar salad was good. The salad is enough to split with someone else. Our choice of entrées ranged from salmon to short ribs to hamburger to duck. The only slight complaint was that the duck was a bit tough, which I agreed with when I took a bite; however, the sauce on it was excellent. I thought the desserts were a bit of a letdown - the bananas foster was not true bananas foster; it was basically just bananas with some kind of a sweet caramel sauce, and some ice cream. The Keylime pie was ok, and then there's crème brûlée. So I would maybe offer up to the chef to upgrade the desserts, maybe some a bit more sophisticated and updated, choices other than the very basic, common choices currently on the menu. Otherwise, lovely restaurant. Would definitely return, but I'll skip the dessert - not worth the calories. read more

Fia = FYA (fire) !!! This place is sooooo amazing! Seriously, best kept secret in Buckhead. It's located inside of a hotel so the parking is FREE. Always pleasant when you're looking to drop some change on good food and ambiance. There is quite a bit of space throughout both the restaurant and the lounge bar. I prefer the decor of the lounge bar for the perfect Girls Night Out! And the restaurant gives more romantic vibes. Our Server Ashley had an awesome personality that kept us cracking up all night. As if these things alone weren't impressive the FOOD. When I tell you the PLATING AND THE TASTE was DIVINE...this place was an absolute MUST. I was on a fast when I attended so I only ate vegan...but with that being said the Broccolini was char grilled to perfection. The roasted potatoes were flavorful with a light crispy outside and I was able to order without Parmesan to observe my dietary restrictions. Also the Baba Ghanoush was served warm and hearty. Very delish. My friend who had the Octopus, said it was excellent. I was salivating just looking at it and smelling it. It was so beautifully curated. The only thing we did not enjoy was the hummus. It was served warm and with a lot of seasoning that we were not fond of. Also the texture was oddly similar to the Baba Ghanoush. If you have never had hummus that looks translucent in texture this dish may not be for you. It looks beautiful but it's definitely an acquired taste, and I am pretty adventurous. Not like hummus you're used to. That's not a deal breaker. She removed it from our bill and we weren't even expecting that. So win win. We ordered SO MUCH food! Seriously the portions are a great size. I recommend getting on the same page about your taste buds when it comes to sides. Because it's all shareable. I went last weekend, based on all of the great reviews. I wasn't blown away by any means. I ordered the whole Branzino and had it filleted. It was quite small with not much flavor. I also ordered the Brussels Sprouts, which were good, not great, the grilled octopus which had too much of a lemon taste to it so didn't eat much of the very tiny portion received, as well as a dirty martini that had entirely too much olive juice in it and was sent back. The gnocchi which was amazing. My friend ordered the grilled short rib for her entree and did not like all of the Indian inspired seasoning and sauce. The server attempted to replace her meal with another serving of the gnocchi but it was late and the kitchen was closing down. When we received the bill, we had been charged for the short rib meal. When I brought it to the servers attention, she told me it was because I boxed it up to take. I told her to take it back and throw it away then because we weren't paying for it. All in all, not a good experience and neither of us have plans to return. read more

They were all sumptuous that we forgot to take pictures prior to devouring them! My husband had the grilled octopus - twice. The shrimp saganaki (sp?) was delicious. I requested for additional toasted bread that came with it. It was so good with the sauce. But I didn't get them even when I said I was willing to pay for it. Maybe because I told another server since ours was tied up with a big group. Oh and the pork belly is to die for! We came here on Friday night at 7pm. The restaurant was half full. When we sat down after ten minutes, more and more people came in and it was almost full around 8pm. So I recommend you made a reservation ahead. They also had outdoor seating. If you want to stay indoors, I would recommend to get the table by the window. It was so nice that you can see outside. They also have a big long table for a big party as well! About their food, we got their Pork Belly and Pan Seared Potato Gnocchi for appetizers. Both of them are great! Especially the pork belly, the meat was tender and juicy. It was great combined with the grits! Pan Seared Potato Gnocchi was cheesy but the truffle made it balanced. We got the Ribeye Steak and Lamb Kebabs for main dishes. The Ribeye steak was phenomenal! It was cooked perfectly at the right temperature and the meat was so juicy and flavorful. I highly recommend it! The lamb kebabs was good but wasn't impressive. We also got two desserts at the end. We got the chocolate mouse cake and soberts. Both of them were delicious, especially the caramel gelato! It was milky and the right amount sweetness! Anyway I enjoyed my experience in the Fia Restaurant a lot and their services were great as well! However, one thing I felt disappointed is that they do not have many Greece food on their menu. Moroccan roasted chicken and Indian-spiced short ribs were both very tasty and excellent (though both dishes had to be re-done to be served at the appropriate temperature; i.e.,hot). My conclusion is that staffing is being stretched thinner at most high-end restaurants and food is simply left under not-so-hot lamps until the servers get to it; this reflects badly on the chef/kitchen team, is a big miss in my view and essentially costs them a star in my rating. I want to start this review by saying two things: do not let the fact that this restaurant is inside a hotel deter you AND do not let the plain appearance of the outside of the building hold you back either! Once you enter the hotel, you feel like you are in a completely different establishment than the one you walked into. The inside has some of the coolest décor I've seen, a very large bar and lounge area if you're in the mood for some cocktails and small bites and the dining room has both booths and tables available right next to the open faced kitchen area. The ambiance is on point and the food is even better! I dined here with friends a few weeks ago and everything from the service to the food was superb. My friend and I agreed that we have not had a meal that good at a restaurant in a long time. We ordered a lot of things for our dinner and shared everything except our main entrees. I literally loved everything we ordered, which is rare for me. We learned that Fia means fire in Italian and it was a fitting name, because everything was fire! But really, it is called Fia, because several of their signature dishes are grilled over a wood fire grill. We tried the beets & burrata, pan seared potato gnocchi, pork belly, charred octopus, & grilled ciabatta bread as our starters. If you don't want to order all of these, I would say that the pork belly and the gnocchi are the must trys. Pro tip: be sure to order the grilled ciabatta bread with the gnocchi, because it comes with a yummy sauce that you will want to dip your bread in. For my entrée, I did the 8 ounce center cut filet with a side of crispy brussels sprouts. I highly recommend both of these items as both had that nice wood fire grill char to them, which made them extra flavorful! For the dessert, we did the Bananas Foster. Even though it is not prepared tableside, it tastes amazing. I say all this to say, you need to dine at Fia! It is a restaurant that everyone needs to experience! read more

HORRIBLE service!! They canceled our reservation without notifying us. We only found out when we happened to call the restaurant a few days before we were to dine there to confirm some details. The manager, Joe, lied and said the staff called to confirm the cancellation but we have 0 record of receiving a call/ email from the restaurant. The reservation was made and confirmed via phone weeks in advance but 3 days prior to the reservation we are told they can't accommodate a party of our size leaving us to scramble for last minute reservations elsewhere. To add insult to injury, Joe was incredibly rude and condescending about the situation and didn't even apologize. When we asked to reach out to the owner about this, he laughed and said "that would never happen". I guess he is right because we have tried emailing and DMing management multiple times to no avail. Don't dine here unless you like dealing with incompetent and rude staff. read more

So at Fia....this industry veteran Zoubir (30 years in the business) not the person that you want at your host stand. I can't begin to tell you how rude he is - sometimes that plays well but when coupled with nervous energy + bottled rage it is a disaster. He went so far as to close down food service at the bar so that we couldn't eat. Not sure how smart that was but he's the expert- just ask him. My wife and I had an absolutely fantastic dinner at Fia on Friday night. We booked our reservation based on word of mouth and Yelp reviews and Fia absolutely lived up to what we had heard. We cannot wait to go back again soon. The atmosphere is cool, with the seating very comfortable. We had a corner booth, which was cozy but not crowded. The decor inside the restaurant was modern, fun, and elegant without being stuffy. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made several great recommendations. Glasses of wine were generous pours, and serving sizes were ample. We shared everything we ordered, which was: * The goat cheese and tomato tartlet * The gnocchi appetizer * Salmon * English pea risotto * Roasted brussel sprouts * Crème brûlée I'd order everything on that list again in a heartbeat, but would want to go with more people so we could sample more stuff. We decided to stop by the new Burgess Hotel for dinner and I must say the whole experience was wonderful! The hotel itself is filled with custom furniture, original artwork, and found objects from Asia and beyond. The restaurant Fia is a delicious Mediterranean restaurant with a wood fire grill in the kitchen. For our small plates, we ordered the wood-fired hummus, pork belly, beet and burrata, and crispy brussels sprouts. My personal favorite was the wood-fired hummus because it's not your traditional hummus. It is warm, flavorful and is nothing like you've tasted before - I promise. The field greens mix salad made a great palate cleanser between courses. For our large plate, we ordered the grilled whole branzino and the flavors were delicious. After dinner, we had cocktails in the lounge at Mr. B's Bar. The bartender was very welcoming, knowledgeable, and had a great personality. The lounge is perfect if you're going on a date or just wanting to have a drink. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and we were talking about it all weekend. We will be back very soon! Ordered chicken and short rib to-go. Finally paid at the bar after a 5+ min wait. Arrived back home to find below average chicken (which was dry) & rice plus "bone-in short rib" (photo). There were no prices on the menu on the website so I was surprised when I paid and saw the "bone-in short rib" alone was about $50 with taxes (two dishes combined over $80). I called to voice my concern and they said they can't do anything and I would have to come back to the restaurant and maybe they could cook the dish again for me to eat inside. This restaurant is located in the recently renovated Burgess Hotel (formerly a Wyndham Gates). It's tucked away off of Piedmont Rd in Buckhead and very easy to miss (I missed it and had to turn around) I think 3 stars is fair as the food was solid but didn't know my socks off or make me plan my next visit. For appetizers we ordered the "spicy" shrimp saganaki, which was not spicy in my opinion. It was just ok...not bad, not good, just ok. It would have been nice with more bread. We also ordered the charred octopus which was good...not great, but good. When you got a bite of everything on the plate it was very tasty. I'd get this again. For entrees we had the whole branzino which was grilled with lemon and herbs in the middle. This was served with some type of small salad with orange segments and jicama maybe. The fish was perfectly grilled and lightly seasoned. If you are looking for a healthier choice, this is the way to go. My dining partner got the lamb which was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the potatoes and broccolini as sides and these were AMAZING and more than enough for two. Service: could use a bit more polish. Our waiter wasn't necessarily present. Our reservation was at 7 and when we arrived it was rather empty but as the night went on both the dining area and the bar filled in. Overall, I'd give it another try since the ratings are high, but maybe try other dishes. read more

Beautiful place, inside the lovely Burgess hotel on Piedmont Rd. Nice ambience (4) it got a little noisy with several tables having celebrations (mazel tov) Our server Abby was a (4.5) doll! It took her a few minutes to get to us which we didn't mind because we were talking & perusing the menu. The water glasses are small & being so busy they didn't keep them filled, but filled every time we asked (tip to Fia, maybe the food runners (food servers (5+) could fill water glasses when they aren't busy or after delivering plates?) Appetizer: The octopus (5 Stars) is some of the best I have eaten ever anywhere in the world! The sweetness of the octopus was highlighted by the capers & olives in the dish. Entrées: I couldn't decide between the whole Branzino or The Lamb chops, Abby said it came with a face lol which turns some people off (am I wrong because that didn't upset me?) When I asked her which one she'd choose she was hands down Lamb chops (3.5) they were cooked & seasoned perfectly medium rare yet somehow a bit dry? The scallops (4.5) were sweet & cooked to perfection. Both dishes have wonderful spices, seasoning & flavors. I really like that Fia's isn't afraid of spice & flavor!! Side dishes: Baba ghanouj (2) the side dish is served hot w/o lavash bread but the server brought some as soon as we asked. It was a generous portion but just okay kind of mushy without any clear flavors. The Brussels sprouts (2.5) were baby sprouts, cut in halves, tender, charred with a sweet heavy glaze. These have the strong Brussel sprout taste, if you're looking for roasted Brussels that don't taste like Brussels I suggest you skip this. it wasn't bad but is also wasn't great either. I've had better. Desserts: Abby recommended the Créam Caramel (2.5) it was a small thin flan (more gelatin that créam served in a pool of simple syrup. The best part of this dessert were the bits of dried candied orange zest. I would not order it again as it was not bad, it just wasn't good. However the "Fresh Peach sorbet (5) Hit it out of the park!!! 3 nice scoops of silky smooth sorbét, fresh sweet rosy GA peaches at peak ripeness & favor Mmmm Yes! Mr B's Bar: After dinner we stopped in Mr B's (5) for after dinner drinks. It's a beautiful bar in the lobby with a great vibe. Lots of comfy couches & chairs to encourage lounging around :-) while you enjoy your drinks. We love that they have extra large single ice cubes! The drinks & atmosphere are lovely!
