Eating in the car while enjoying conversations between family or friends has been an american past time for some of us. Keeping to that tradition, the A&W there in Anacortes had been a great place for a drop for almost any reason, but to see A&W go a few years back was a sad sight for a lot of the older crowd. When the Fidalgo drive in came into view we thought the company would try to keep to that tradition, and for the most part it has. Although not having much of a dress code they are sure on top of making sure the customer is well and satisfied with any of there needs from the menu. However the floats are far from the same. I guess you shouldn't go in thinking that this would be the same as A&W anything, but they try. They have kept to a few of the the same, making them "there own," being the drive up menus and button to push, yup, no lights on to make the order anymore. The wait staff are very attentive and polite, even if an item is not to someones liking, or something has been cooked wrong. All that need be done is to ask and if it's a reasonable ask then the staff there are more than helpful. read more

Soggy fries inconsistently with food each time I go there but burgers usually decent and I get tired of McDonalds ps. If you want exactly what you asked for or to have checks split between people correctly look elsewhere gets anyone no one can do math or care about the customer there. read more

Putting even just the smallest amount of effort in to caring would turn this place around a little bit. Just a little. Numerous times I've gone and had to break things down to Barney level and still end up getting something wrong. Only to receive attitude when corrected. Their chili cheese tater-tots are so good, and they have really good milk shakes! I've never had any complaints about Fidalgo Drive in.

Fidalgo Drive-In has two of the three best sandwiches in all of Anacortes! This is the half a turkey sandwich with fruit. There is so much turkey here that you will say "where's the bread"? Everything is fresh always and the staff are friendly always, they'll deliver it to your car you can eat outside or take it to go. The pineapple floats are pretty awesome too! The other sandwich? Is the crab sandwich. You can never go wrong with anything here. Oh I didn't even mention ice cream and root beer. read more

We ordered a burger, tots, deep fried mushrooms, Ivars clam chowder and a pineapple ice cream cone. We don't know why people said the burgers are dry, ours was dripping and had good flavor. The cheese was melted, a couple slices of tomato and iceberg lettuce. We kicked off the lettuce as we would have preferred green leaf. But that was the only thing we would have changed. Usually when you order deep fried anything, the breading falls off. This was not the case with the mushrooms. They were covered from top to bottom even when dipping in ranch. I came to see what vegetarian options there are because someone recommended the fries to me. The vegetarian options appeared to be side dishes only. I got fried mushrooms and steak fries. The steak fries were ok. The fired mushrooms, not so much. I think they might use canned mushrooms. I don't know but I couldn't finish them. They tasted a little too funkalicious for me. Oh and the fries had a little piece of chicken mixed in. So, clearly they use the same oil for everything. So, basically nothing is vegetarian other than a side salad when it comes down to it. So, this is not a place for vegetarians and vegans. Really, I should have known better. read more

I recently ate here, as I like to support "local". The picture we saw in a flyer showed a traditional cheeseburger with all of the fixings, lovingly assembled in the ad. It looked fabulous. The sandwich I received looked nothing like it was represented to be in the ad. The patty seemed cool, cooked through but not hot and the lettuce, slice of tomato and condiments were thrown together in a haphazard way. As for the fries that came with the sandwich, they were hot, but unseasoned. Little to no salt on them and they seemed to be poured out of a bag. The people staffing were less then enthusiastic, not unfriendly but just there. Not a good value for the price, I feel. read more

Ok so this place would be the place on my "cheat" day. Lol Love all the different flavors of the shakes. Great onion rings and fried mushrooms. I like the fish sandwich minus the ciabatta bun. We had lunch here in July on our way to Friday Harbor and decided to go here tonight for dinner. It did not disappoint. Our sons had chicken strips which were amazing as they would say. Fries aren't very good although the tots were crispy and perfect. Hubby and I had the burger special great taste fresh produce, nothing like chilled crisp lettuce and fresh tomatoes to make a burger. . We all had shakes, would have been 5 stars but none of us really cared for the shakes. Service was outstanding and gals were friendly and quick to get the good out and tables cleaned up. read more

FILTHY! Absolutely, disgustingly filthy! The tables had chunks of food, and puddles of liquid on them, and this was after the busser had wiped them down. When i complained to the manager about the dirty tables, he asked what did i want him to do about it. I replied that I wanted him to clean them. He told me to go away. AWESOME! They made the best crab sandwich i ever had on fresh french roll loaded with fresh crab,crisp lettuce,perfect, bowl of clam chowder was very good,advertised as i vars. wife had a BLT that had so much bacon in it that i sent a picture to some friends. went back next day and was great all over again . wife had turkey sandwich with fresh fruit ,very presentable dish, she was happy. Snotty teenagers behind the counter? Check. Mediocre food check? Check. Kid friendly? Not at all. With the basic menu and fast food decor this looks like the kind of place a family could take their children. Nope. I brought friends of mine from out of town for some ice cream and coffee. Their one year old baby was being somewhat loud- the way small children often are. Not screaming or having a fit, just being loud. The other two kids were behaving pretty well. They asked us to leave because of the "screaming baby". We thought they were kidding. They were not. We left and won't be back. I can't recommend you go their either. read more

Meh, it had the makings of a really good dive diner but after eating here the food was bland. There's no other way to describe it. The fries, I'm pretty sure they are from the Frozen isle. I think you're better of just eating at the Jack in the box across the street. blech. Thats all there is to say about this place. We got the charbroiled chicken sandwich which was anything but charbroiled. Bland microwaved taste, no salt, shredded lettuce (cafeteria anyone?!) and one single tomato. Hello?! No onion? No delicious blackened grill taste?! NO FLAVOR!?! We also got a side of onion rings... they were nice and crispy but also lacked salt. Very impressed. My husband and I stopped by there today and had lunch. The place was packed. He had the bleu cheese red onion deluxe burger and I had the Clam Strips. My meal was served with creamy clam chowder. Soooo good. His burger was huge and he enjoyed everybit of it. We both had the signature root beer floats recommended by friends. Came here not expecting much, but was impressed by the prices and portion sizes. The chicken strip basket was huge, and waffle fries were perfectly cooked. They provided a plentiful amount of sauces for all of our orders, too. This was a nice quick stop on a road trip, but I wouldn't recommend it for a legitimate meal. read more

This is the best "fast" food place in the area. Their bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches are amazing, I have one every chance I get. The burgers are also pretty good too. They usually have good little coupons for free ice cream or 2 for $6 breakfast sandwiches(amazing deal!!!) definitely stop in if you're in the area! read more

Awesome burger!! I come here every time I come through Anacortes. Reasonably priced, dare I say inexpensive? Worth a try.

The employees' attitudes are reflective of the owners attitude, which explains why this restaurant is rated so low.

Horrible experience, 28.00 for two specials which aren't specials, just pushing old product to get rid of. Special consisted of 1/2 specialty burger including fries, they simply charge you full price for ala carte. Angus beef burgers were dried out and tasteless, McDonald's more flavor unfortunately. Anyway we ordered two 2 1/2 lb angus specials for 9,00, and 2 medium drinks, $28.00 and change, we wound up with 3 orders of fries, instead of what we ordered with specials, despite our questioning the charges a total of 3 times, finally was refunded a little. A special should be a little less, than ala carte but these people are greedy, needless to say we will not return. Gave a 1 star only because I can't give a minus 5. The dogs got half of my burger. Usually have really good food, sometimes we have a long wait but not too terribly bad. My daughter loved going there for dinner. They have fabulous shakes. The girls working there sometimes have an attitude. It would be nice if they had a uniform or dress code. I love eating there though. read more
