Had dinner here. Was greeted immediately and seated. Chips were brought soon and the order was taken. Ordered iced tea, but they were out of it! From there it went further downhill with the waiter bringing chicken enchiladas rather than the cheese enchiladas ordered. He brought the correct order and it was edible but not especially good, which is funny because how does one goof up cheese? He never came to check on us and we had to go to him and ask for the check, which should never happen. He wasn't very personable, bad for any waiter. Pretty standard Mexican food at average prices, and with average service. The decor is about as classic "dated Americanized Mexican restaurant" as you can get. Silverthorne, Colorado- This is our second time eating here and we will be back. It's in a strip mall and isn't the most beautiful venue but its quaint interior with metal cacti lanterns and paintings of Mexican characters that make you smile is a fun lunchtime setting. I have never left a negative review on yelp but that run has now come to an end. Food was typical however, our server Fausto was a complete JACKASS there is no other way to put it. He was rude to every white person around us. 9 grown men in your establishment and you treat them like crap, then get mad when we ask to have the bill split. He did split the bill but increased the gratuity to 25% when he did it. I always tip 20% and sometimes more if the service is worthy. My husband & I were pleasantly surprised to find this place. We walked in at 2pm on a saturaday. Everyone (wait staff & customers) there were Mexican/Latino, which we thought was a big vote of confidence. We ordered specialty Margheritas at $8.75 and got what tasted like a cheap mix out of a bottle. First off, I have to say I am a Mexican food snob. I went to college in Las Cruces, NM where I ate amazing Mexican food 2-3 times a week and had several choices of great restaurants. That being said, if you have had good Mexican, Fiesta Jalisco is not the place for you, you will just be disappointed. First off you are given free salsa and hot tortilla chips, the chips are good, the salsa not so much. It's slightly spicy, but watery and not that flavorful. I'm a big fan on enchiladas, so that is usually what I will get when I go to a Mexican place. You know a place will probably have good enchiladas when it says "your choice of red or green chile", this was not the case at Fiesta Jalisco. Their menu said "our enchilada sauce contains peanut butter. PEANUT BUTTER?!?!?!? Who puts peanut butter in their enchilada sauce?? I was very confused, but decided that I would try it because I couldn't decide on anything else and I had to know how someone put peanut butter in their sauce. My boyfriend went with the chicken taco salad. The food came out fast, and was hot. My boyfriend seemed to enjoy his taco salad, but that isn't saying much because he isn't very picky. My enchiladas were edible. I enjoyed the refried beans and the flavor of the rice, although it was undercooked. The enchilada sauce was weird. Peanut butter should not be put in enchilada sauce EVER. It made it sweet and enchilada sauce should be spicy, not sweet. Again, like I said, I am a mexican food snob. Perhaps if I had never had any mexican food, I would think it was good, but I wasn't a fan. The server was nice, and service was fast, I guess they get points for that. read more

Service is quick and the environment is authentic and lively. Serving sizes are healthy (or unhealthy depending on what you like), but this food hits the spot after a day on the slopes. They do a particularly good job on the refried beans, enchiladas and Mexican rice. Chips and salsa, a harbinger of any Mexican dining experience, however, leave something to be desired. Stopped by for dinner with a friend- we usually go to Hacienda Real in Frisco, but decided to switch it up and try somewhere new. After being seated in a nearly empty restaurant, it took our server over ten minutes to even ask if we wanted something to drink. I ordered shredded beef tacos and a margarita. The margarita was alright, but my tacos came swimming in oily water and with clumps of moldy cheese on top. Five minutes later, when I finally got the server's attention to show her the mold, she took the plate back and brought back new tacos sans cheese (still swimming in oily water). I would give this zero stars if possible, but it is not an option. This restaurant possibly had the worst service I have ever experienced and that is saying a lot because I eat out fairly often and am more than 50 years old. Problem 1: took an inordinate amount of time to place order. then, Problem 2: took a ridiculous amount of time to get appetizer. Like 30 minutes for queso. Then, problem 3: my child's food never came. Problem 4: We did not get siverware with our order. When we told the waiter, he went to the bar and mixed drinks for other people. Then, when I tracked him down, he was annoyed to give the cutlery to me. In the middle of this, I told 3 other people my kid's food was still not there, and in fact it never came. One of them ignored me, one started vacuuming, and the third, well who knows where they went. The waiter seemed shocked when I asked for her food to be taken off the bill. No one seemed the least bit put out by any of these issues even though we became more and more distressed and vocal as the evening wore on without any food or service. At the end of the night, we did get some food, and it was halfway decent once we got some silverware to try it with, but too bad for my child, we had to go to a different restaurant to get her something so she would stop crying. Unbelievable. End of night, no water in cups, no refill on drinks, no check in on anything. DO NOT GO HERE. This place is awful. read more

Lots of negative stuff on this page but I had a blast at this place! Yummy and spicy salsa, warm chips, got seated at the bar right away and the bar tender was excellent! He got us margs (mmmmmm, get the Cadillac) and water and chips and salsa right away! The food was delish, and my boyfriend and I both got two free shots of their house made "mule kick" tequilla! Recently went for lunch and tried the dish called El Pollo Diablo. It is chicken in a spicy red diablo sauce with mushrooms, and it's served similar to fajitas along side rice and beans. Wow, this is a great dish and I like making my own little burritos/soft tacos with the chicken/mushroom/sauce. The sauce is spicy, but it didn't kill me and I think you should try it. Words don't even begin to describe how disappointed I was with my meal. First of all, I couldn't even get the meal I wanted, because they had no eggs. Not acceptable. After that, I was rushed to pick out another meal, which was not good. I had a taco salad, and it was highly, oh so highly disappointing. It came out quick, which was nice, but understandable. The bowl had such a small amount of food to it and it was not very nicely presented. It had a small amount of lettuce, a fine amount of steak, sour cream, and a slice of a tomato. And that was all to it. No seasoning on the rest of it. Next, my friends ordered a "Virgin Margarita" which was really just orange juice with sparkling water. It was ridiculously overpriced for what we got, and they added the tip straight to the bill, then asked for another tip. I will never eat here again, and I suggest you don't. read more

This place just plain sucks... its not worthy of being called Mexican food honestly. Coming from California, I've paid for 2$ street tacos better than theirs. I also ordered the wet burrito with salsa Verde. I specifically said salsa Verde, but she ignored me and brought it out with red salsa. since i was with a group, I wasn't going to send my plate back for it to be remade while they ate. The salsa is definitely from a can, so I didn't have to worry about it minus the lack of spice. When I said something about the salsa Verde, the waitress was clearly exasperated and started going around the table asking "is your food okay? Is your food okay?" to I don't know, single me out? I just ate my tacos and chips, and left the burrito sitting there. When I told them I wasn't paying for it, it quickly became an issue. "We'll remake it for you. With the salsa Verde too." no thanks, I dont want to wait 20 minutes only to be disappointed again... It got to the point where I just paid for the plate and left on behalf of my group. TERRIBLE SERVICE!! I am not one to play the race card, but we listened as friendly banter was exchanged with everyone around us yet we received nothing but cold rude treatment starting with being seated. When it was our time to order the waiter started with, are you ready to order yet? (3 minutes after we sat down) we ordered nachos and enchiladas. Instead of pointing out the many different options, or simply asking a couple clarifying questions, he belittled us for not knowing which one. Although, chicken enchiladas can typically be ordered anywhere with a simple, 2 or 3, and do you want that a la cart or as a plate. Again, our bad, but it's usually the restaurant staff that's required to know the menu. We started off on a bad foot, but ok we moved on. Then when we tried to make eye contact with our waiter and to ask for more salsa (we were given one small bowl for the 3 of us) the waiter literally rolled his eyes, walked to the back and while placing the salsa on our table told us "please and thank you goes a long way." His attitude was shocking especially in comparison to his banter with the rest of the room. My father is black and my mother is white. In horror, I looked around the room and it dawned on us that we were the only party of color. Again, racism is the last thing I claim, but I can't understand anything about our experience without considering that was the reason. I watched my father apologize and say in no way did he mean to be rude, and then thanked him for the salsa. But I was furious because nothing about our behavior was rude. I don't understand how it's possible for a Mexican restaurant to be so awful. I enjoy the basic/traditional style of Mexican food IE chips and salsa, chicken soft tacos, and a good margarita. Well this place failed on that and then some. I walked in with one person and waited a few minutes to be seated. You'll notice the ambiance is not what you'd expect in any restaurant. The lights are very bright and white, almost like a cafeteria. The tables are SO close together you can pretty much balance a knife between the two... If you are desperate enough to try this place, at least request a booth! Like many other reviewers stated, the salsa is watery. When I read the reviews prior to coming, I figured it was watery but with a thick-ish consistency or some chunks. But no, it seems like they put tomatoes into a Vitamix with some hot sauce, strained out anything solid and then serves this water as salsa. It's literally all liquid! Then queso. How do you mess up queso? Ask the chef here. The queso is bland beyond belief. THANK GOD they have Cholula Hot Sauce. That is the one thing they did right. I put that in the queso so it had some flavor. The chicken in my soft taco was tough. It reminded me of the crap chicken you can buy in bulk from Walmart... you know, the kind that is tough and has thick strips of meat when shredded. Botton line, cheap chicken that is difficult to stomach. Also, the plates are these weird little house on the prairie 1950s looking plates. Not sure why they can't upgrade to something that doesn't look this awkward. I was here a few weeks ago and don't specifically remember the margaritas, so they must not have been great or horrible. This restaurant is certainly not hurting for business. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. I thought this might be a good sign, but now I figure most of the people there were tourists craving Mexican in a town with few choices. We had a pitcher of margarita and a basket of chips while we waited. The salsa was some mixture of tomato juice and paste and onion juice. The look was reminiscent of Chef Boyardee red sauce. When we were seated we looked over our huge and extensive menus. I decided on a vegetarian chimichanga which came out filled with carrots, onions, cauliflower and a few slices of green pepper. It was not the deep fried goodness I was expecting. In fact they just took a couple of flour tortillas, threw them on the grill for a second and then wrapped up my very unMexican vegetables. The black beans and rice that it was served with were good. No one else in our group was impressed, but I certainly had the worst meal of the bunch. read more

Reading these reviews I wonder if we ate at the same place. My husband, niece and I happened upon this restaurant while driving home to California. I grew up in Colorado and loved the great Mexican food we had there. Living in Northern California we have no shortage of authentic Mexican food, and a couple of trips south of the border give me some experience of the cuisine. So I can truly say the food here is great. In fact, we gave it a 10 on our scale of 1 to 10, being the best we've had in recent memory. While we ordered from the lunch menu, the chips were thin, hot and crisp, great salsas, and my wet burrito was to die for. I never finish an entire burrito and I enhaled this one. Maybe the mountain air made me more hungry but all of us had the same opinion. This was a delicious meal. I only regret we are not closer to enjoy it more often. But the decor was eclectic but very cozy, even to the great tile in the bathrooms. Very clean, and terrific service with a smile. Not a thing I would change.
