Wasn't able to use them. I went to this location solely because the yelp for the business says they detail cars, and once I got there, I was told they don't. I arrived, no customers but they seemed occupied with working on the vehicles there. There was a mechanic in the work bay and one outside trying to do something to a car. I walked into the lobby area. After waiting a couple of minutes, the dude working outside comes into the lobby and doesn't say nothing, makes quick eye contact and then sort of paces around the room. No "hello, how can I help you?" Nothing... finally, I asked if he worked there, because I saw no uniform or name tag or anything indicating he worked there other than he was messing with a car before I got there. He said yes, and that was it. Kind of kept walking like he had something to do, maybe not, was he attending me? Was i in his way? I don't know. It was very awkward from my point of view. I asked if they detailed cars and then he said no. I continued "oh, it's because your yelp info says you detail cars?" "No." And then kept standing there. After a couple of awkward seconds, I was ok and left. Idk if they sale cars here or not, that interaction was just weird, I felt like my presence bothered the dude, I guess I'll take my money elsewhere. 3 stars for prompt interaction, services announced not offered fully here. read more

Best used car dealership I've ever seen they actually fix everything they can before they sell a car

I drive for ride share and needed an oil change and was advised to go through 5th Gear. I'm so glad I did. These guys are amazingly sweet and had me laughing up a storm, I felt right at home while I waited for my services. Super fast service by the way! I waited for maybe 20 mins tops for an oil change, tire rotation, and inspection. After all was said and done, the owner (don't know his name but he's HILARIOUS) informed me that I'll need my brake pads replaced soon, which I suspected since I've for sure reached the factory mileage on my current pads. All in all, I felt so taken care of and quite honestly enjoyed my lobby wait. The guys that work here are a breath of fresh air! read more

This auto body shop and its employees is everything you want and more. These guys are timely, friendly, and they truly care about their customers. Joe is absolutely excellent. My vehicle was being a real pain and he took it in, fixed it up, and had it ready for me in great condition FAST. My power steering went out and Joe diagnosed my issue, proposed a solution, and carried out the plan just as discussed. I was referred to this place by the tow truck company. Now I'm guessing he gets a kickback for that because this is not a good repair shop at all. My car was checked out without any warning of fees involving checking it. It's proper to give a call and warn at the very least. Three hours after drop off, they called me to say the battery and starter need replacing for about $1027. I told them no thanks but please charge the battery. Upon arrival, the guy was rude and goes, "so you gonna pay me?" I asked, "for what?" He goes, "$159, diagnostic check, standard fee." If it was standard, why wasn't I informed prior to having it done? Does putting jumper cables on a battery really require $159? This is a rough year for me financially (covid) and to have this crazy quote and unwarned fee just felt so slimy but I stuck my card out in disgust anyway. He rejected the money and sent me away saying rude things to me about getting off his property and having to work on my car "all night." What a load of BS! It was a battery issue that should only take minutes to assess and charge. So I took it to another shop that told me my starter was perfectly fine and the battery replacement would be $300. That's over $700 cheaper. I will never recommend Fifth Gear to anyone. I can't believe this guy is in business. read more

Amazing experience! I was having a strange rumbling noise while idle with my VW Passat. Looking online for advice made me nervous that it was more than an issue w the exhaust. I had just had the DRL's changed out at Armstrong Volkswagen and had an ok experience so went back to them to assess the issue. After a lengthy look at the car they said they'd have to order some parts and with labor it would be over $400... I had heard of Fifth Gear's work on European cars so thought I'd bring it by. Jo greeted me like a good friend and ushered my car immediately in for evaluation of the Check Engine light and noise. They pinpointed the issue and repaired it right on the spot. No need to order parts or schedule repair at a future time and arrange transportation and all that mess. The whole process was done in 30 minutes. The VW shop took an hour just to look at it.. And the cost was just the 1/2 hour the crew spent on it. Amazing. I highly recommend going to Fifth Gear for all your auto needs. Saved me a lot of $$! read more

too expensive - $75 more than Audi dealership or Jiffy Lube

WARNING! Long post, but if you are considering using this shop, you should read. Do not go here! I went to this shop with a seemingly simple fix. I was having a failure with my mass airflow sensor. I thought this shop specialized in European vehicles, as they advertise, and I have a Volvo, so decided to give them a shot. My Volvo was running fine before I went here in the first place. No check engine light, so stalling or anything like that. I was just getting an occasional surging sound at idle that was more annoying than anything, and that I wanted to take care of. I took it in for the first time on a Friday for a diagnostic. Several hours after I dropped it off I get a call saying that they couldn't find anything wrong with it... well I knew that couldn't be the case so he said he would hook it up again to the diagnostic machine. A couple hours after that he calls and says the the mass airflow sensor was "intermittently failing". So he put in a new sensor, and picked up my carvlater that day. When I went to go to work on Monday I noticed my car was still making the surging sound. Later when I was driving home from work, it started running really rough and the check engine light came on. I immediately called fifth gear and told them it was acting up. He told me to bring it in, again. Said they would get to it first thing in the morning. That my car would "be first on the list". Well I dropped it off and didn't hear anything for hours. At one point, while on a delivery for my job, I drove by and my car was still parked in the same spot where I left it. So it obviously wasn't the priority. Finally at about 3pm (I dropped it off at 7:30) I hear from him. There is a crack in my air intake hose that they "somehow missed" during the first inspection. Ok, so replace it right? Well first he tried to talk me out of actually replacing the hose and tried to tell me that it could be basically glued back together with some kind of silicone. He was inconsistent in his message, first telling me that it would only be a temporary fix, then telling me he wouldn't bother replacing parts on such an old car. It's a 2005 with under 150,000 miles, and that even if the glue didn't hold, it wouldn't make the car not work... so I get in my car and drive away, and it's instantly running SO MUCH WORSE! It's sputtering along, barely running, and I couldn't even make it home before the check engine light came on again. Keep in mind the check engine light wasn't even on at all before I brought it in. I knew at that point I wasn't going to go back there, but it gets worse. The next day i made an appointment at another shop for the following day, but as this is my only vehicle I still had to use it to get to work and back. It barely made it to work in the morning, and when I went to leave in the evening, it wouldn't even stay running for more than a couple seconds. I ended up having to have it towed away from my job straight to a shop. The next day when the other shop went over it they found all kinds of mistakes fifth gear made. For starters, they replaced the sensor but didn't reset the codes, which is apparently a necessity, as it won't run otherwise. For a shop that claims to specialize in Volvo's I don't get how they didn't know that they were supposed to do this. Also, the glue (obviously) didn't hold, so that hose leak was still an issue, and to top it off, they left a tool under my hood! Completely unprofessional. And they obviously know nothing about basic repairs on European cars, and I would venture cars in general. To top the whole experience off, no one at the shop is wearing a mask, they have no Covid precautions in place. And the guy who was working with me, the owner himself, spoke to me, as a woman, in a way I didn't like. Calling me honey, and babe, and at the same time, criticizing the color of my hair! One last thing, they didn't even give me told old sensor they took of my car, and they don't offer any warranty. Please don't make the same mistake I made in using this shop, I don't even really know how they are in business. read more

I had Fifth Gear replace the oil pump in my Audi in December 2018. At the time I was satisfied and they seemed to to good work for a reasonable price. However, the oil light just came back on and the engine noise made it clear the head was not getting any oil so I had the car towed to a different shop I have been using for 20 years. Suspecting the oil pump has failed again, I dug out the invoice from Fifth Gear and was shocked to find that there was no oil pump, new or used, listed on the parts replaced even though the labor shows the charges to replace it. Fifth gear charged me labor to replace the oil pump but only actually replace the pickup tube and the deflector. Not the pump. I paid 5th Gear $450 in labor charges to not do the job they were paid to do so now I have to pay labor charges all over again to have the oil pump replaced. On top of that, when we went to pick up the car from Fifth Gear they were trying to put the front end of body back on using a sledge hammer to try to get it aligned. They didn't actually do any damage to the body but it was disturbing. I don't know if Fifth Gear Auto are crooks or just plain stupid but I would not recommend taking your car to them for repair. Also contrary to Joseph's statement, my Audi was towed to Fifth Gear in late November 2018 and repairs were invoiced December 8th 2018 so obviously his statement about not being open until January 2019 is incorrect. read more
