    Filibuster Pancakes!
    Matt S.

Pork carnitas, eggs Benedict, pancake, real maple syrup, local ingredients! This place is legitimately awesome and hands down the best breakfast place in Central Vermont. Try it and if you don't like, let me know!

Omelette. Tough stems. Nice salad. No bread.

Ok for tourists. I frequent several breakfast spots in the Montpelier/Waterbury area so decide to give this place a try. It was 8:30 am on a Friday so the place was busy. It's a cute spot - bigger than it looks from the outside - and nicely decorated. They have a large patio which will be nice when the weather is better. It's not really ADA accessible. Yes i noticed there is a stair lift. But I've tried these with my mom and they just aren't practical for someone using a wheelchair. I was solo and seated in a back room. It was cold throughout my stay, even with a sweatshirt. There were a couple of "counter" seating areas I would have been happy to sit at except the counter depth was so small they looked more like coffee-drinking spots - I don't know how someone would have a full meal there. Ok if you're just having a pastry. Might want to rethink that if you want to have space for single diners. The menu has several interesting items making it not as ordinary as many places around. The prices are hefty for the area. You can't have a full breakfast and get out of there for less than 25-30$ with tip. So it won't be in my regular rotation. I got one of the cheaper options (no meat) and it was 22$. Keep in mind you have to pay for parking during the week. I ordered an omelette after being assured that they actually crack eggs from the shell instead of using the stuff in a carton. (Only one other place around here that I know of uses fresh eggs in omelettes so I don't normally order that). It was served with an excellent salad. Very lightly dressed in a very tasty dressing. The omelette itself was unexceptional and somewhat bland. It had spinach and I kept encountering tough stems. I also ordered tea - they have a decent selection and it's good quality. Ok so pros- atmosphere, menu selection, tea, salad, service. Things I would change - up the room temperature a bit, get rid of the resort prices (given what I had), offer toast with the omelette (even places serving salad most often serve a bread of some sort). Serve the tea not just in a cup. Provide extra hot water. I had to ask twice for more hot water and this is inefficient when the place is busy. Add a guest wifi. The cell signal is spotty at least in the back space. Service was good even though I was "out of sight". But it was after the rush. In busier times I suspect there could be some neglect. Especially waiting to pay. My server disappeared as soon as the check was produced and someone finally took my payment. They offer an online payment option but they favor cash with a discount. I paid cash - don't expect to get the coins from your change. Another extra cost. And note that the suggested tips on the bill are based on paying with a card, and after the taxes. So do they want cash or don't they? I don't get it. I'll give it one more try as they are new. But for this visit, the food wasn't worth the rest of it.

Eggs Florentine and Corned Beef Hash with Eggs

My husband and I are local. We had breakfast here last week. It was our first time at this new restaurant. I ordered the Florentine Benedict and hubby had the Corned Beef Hash with Eggs. My food looked wonderful and was delicious, but his hash and toast was burned. The coffee was okay, but I would not recommend it. I ordered a caffe latte, and was told that they only had whole milk or oat milk. I got the oat milk version, but it was pretty watery and I didn't care for it. My husband got the regular coffee and didn't like it. I know other people who love this place, so maybe we visited on an off day. We'll probably try back another day and order different items. I really loved the ambiance. The old bank building was interesting and had great decorations. Our server was very nice too.

Excellent food, service, and ambience. The hollandaise was delicious, the pancake cooked perfectly, the decorations were delightful! I loved it!

    Perfect margaritas!

The pub burger is amazing!! We had Anna as a server and she was fabulous. Thanks for adding dinner to your offerings and taking us in close to closing with a smile!

We had a fabulous brunch Sunday at the Filibuster Cafe in Montpelier. They make the most amazing pancakes I've ever tasted! The french toast and eggs too! The eclectic decor in the old bank adds to the experience.

Pork chop on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes with Brussels sprouts. Very good dinner!

And what a great choice it was, too. We were greeted by a host as we entered the restaurant, and we were offered seating indoors or outside on the sidewalk patio. The air outside was cool, so we opted for the patio. After looking over the menu, I chose two street tacos filled with braised pork, bbq sauce, and pickled jalapeños. While we waited, we snacked on the chips and salsa appetizer. The chips tasted as if they were the last of the day's batch, but to be fair, we arrived late in the evening. However, the salsa was delicious and seemed as if it was made in-house. Enough heat to make your tongue dance, but not so hot to have you gasping for water. And it was just so flavorful, too. When my tacos arrived, each one came with two corn tortillas, which was good because the tacos were a bit juicy. And they were oh-so good. The bbq sauce was not too sweet and very flavorful. The pork was well-cooked and tender. It was one of the top 3 tacos I've eaten, and I've eaten many. I wish I could say the rice was special, but it's your garden-variety Spanish rice, not unlike the box mix from the grocery store. And the black beans, while good tasting, seemed no different than the canned variety. Had the tacos not been so dang good, I might not have been so forgiving of the sides. But it looks (and tasted) like whatever money they might have saved on beans and rice was more than made up for in the tacos. (My wife chose the traditional tacos, and she loved those, as well.) If I had to pinpoint it, I would say it seems like Cali-Mex instead of Tex-Mex, as we're used to, but others might see it as more like actual Mexican fare. (I'll admit to not being too familiar with that style of food.) As for the restaurant itself, I didn't see much of it except for when I went to wash up (as I said, the tacos were juicy!), but there was a full bar and plenty of tables (it was quite full at the time). As for the staff, Hannah did a great job of taking care of us. She was friendly and attentive without being overly so. We're visiting Vermont for about 6 more weeks, and I think Julio's will be a weekly visit while we're here.

We were seated quickly, but waited quite some time before we got our order in. The portions were small for the price, and mediocre flavor at best. The service was friendly but sparse. I would recommended finding another place on the main strip with some more character.

I love when the local bike shop is *truly* a LOCAL bike shop, and not some generic conglomerate that has hired locals. We got so many excellent recommendations on where to ride, what to look out for, and any setup changes we should make based on our individual setups. For those who didn't bring bikes, renting bikes was quick and painless. They took the time to get us dialed in before we were off to ride. The merch was top-notch. My only (very minor) disappointment was that the green hat that I bought to match the jersey I also bought was a children's hat. I missed that at time of purchase and didn't realize it until we were back at our rental for the night. It's okay, I brought it back the next day and they were cool about it and let me swap my kids hat for a different adult-size hat, even though they didn't have any green adult hats. I wish we had a few extra days in the area, I would have loved to join some of the local group rides that seem to meet here to ride regularly. We did eat lunch here one of the days. It was so nice to eat outside. There was a good flow of people in and out, but it didn't feel overwhelmingly busy. We had a group of 8, and yet everything arrived just as quickly as we ordered it. I had a crunch wrap. It felt like a lot of food, but it hit the spot. If I find myself back in the area, I will definitely visit again. Highly recommend.

Let's start with what we enjoyed during our visit: the drinks were good... the atmosphere was cool (more like a contemporary "cabin" vibe, which was definitely inviting)... and the staff were all stellar!! Where Ranch Camp let us down on this visit was the food. In fact, we desperately wanted to love the experience because everything LOOKED fantastic. However, all the food we ordered was bland. It all started with the pork nachos, which our party of 3 ordered as an appetizer. It was piled high and dripping with ingredients... but the dish completely lacked flavor. The pork was perfectly tender but tasted flavorless (until I added hot sauce and salt). I would also recommend they serve the dish with pico de gallo or salsa to boost the flavor. We had the same feeling with the burrito bowls. Two of us ordered different burritos (opting for bowls instead of tortillas), and we both thought the flavor was just okay. And on top of that, both of our bowls were lukewarm. In fact, the entrées weren't even hot enough to melt the cheese. I wish I would have sent the food back, but we were in a bit of a hurry. Finally, my friend James ordered the Chicken Quesadilla, which he also thought was "just okay." Oh, and we noted that a table near us sent back food... so not sure what was up with that, but we we weren't surprised based on our overall experience. Final Thoughts: Prior to visiting Ranch Camp, I read plenty of reviews praising the restaurant, so I'd like to think that they were just having a bad day.

We started with chips and salsa and my son said "it was the best salsa he's ever had". The chips were fresh, tasty and gluten free. I got a chorizo buritto and it was large, filled with beans and rice and great tasting. My son went with the chicken enchiladas which he devoured quickly. I believe my wife ordered their enchiladas. Overall, the food was great and flavorful, service wasn't the best and we felt rushed to leave. The kicker, and this may be due to the close proximity to Church St, is our bill was around $80 (which included two drinks). It's way to pricey for some chicken, rice and beans, etc.
