We went for dinner couple days ago, our experience was amazing. We had scallop sashimi and scallops chowder for appetizer they were amazing although I was hoping for more amount on the sashimi. The main dishes are on the pictures bellow, they are amazing specially the potato log on my husband's dinner. Unbelievable!!! It's sliced thinly pan fried to the perfection!!! The beef ao soft that you don't need knife to cut them! Salmon? Uuumm perfect seasoning! Light and scrumptious. Will definitely come back with more people. read more

We visited Fin before the Cape Playhouse show last week. We started off with some local oysters from Dennis. They were outstanding! My husband had the tuna and I had the stuffed cod. This restaurant is out of place on the Cape. Over complicated, over priced entrees don't fit in. Caviar service and $145 wagyu ribeye with no other entree less than $35. Be prepared to pay $3 extra if you order a cocktail "up" vs. on the rocks! Much better, more reasonable fine dining options available. read more

Wow! Had not been here since the current owners took over. We had a great meal with Kevin as our super waiter... blueberry lemonade made with Nantucket Blueberry vodka was great, not sweet... Lobster in pastry appetizers was so delicious! Romaine salad was flavorful, grilled romaine very special. My tuna was amazing....my husband had the cod and lobster special, also spectacular... Absolutely fantastic here! There isn't a lot of fine dining on the Cape but this meets the bill and then some. I would recommend the oyster chowder, the scallops, and whatever the sorbet flavor of the day is, but everything was delicious. Even my little kids couldn't stop eating everything. Just celebrated an anniversary dinner here. Service was good, not amazing. Our waitress was very friendly, but we had to ask for basics like more water, plates, etc. We shared a bowl of the oyster chowder to start. It was delicious! We also shared the fried whole bass-a portion for two. It was a unique experience. The fish itself was pretty dry. It came with a cucumber and tomato "salad," basmati rice and a prawn sauce. The salad was really just some grocery store-grade tomatoes and cukes chopped up-no dressing or seasoning of any kind. Rice was plain and somewhat crunchy. Thank goodness for the prawn sauce-it needed it for flavor and moisture. Overall, a nice meal, but for two drinks, an appetizer and shared dinner, the bill was over $150. I expect a higher level of service and food quality for that price-even on the cape. read more

Was at the Cape for 3 weeks and this was the best meal I had this year. We had the Octopus for an appetizer. It was cooked to perfection, which is hard to do. My husband got the duck breast and he told me it was out of this world! The outside was crunchy and crisp, inside tender and moist. I had the swordfish and it was superb!!! Hmmm. Third time was not the charm. What happened here/ maybe new ownership since our last visit or two?? Manager/ host "greeting" us had very little warmth or charisma. He made no eye contact, did not welcome us, and it was a weird start. I thought we'd try the downstairs room this time. This was a mistake. It lacked any warmth or charm (My spider senses are detecting a pattern here). Female server was pleasant but not really engaging. Cocktails were actually too strong ( I know, a weird complaint). Just tasted the alcohol and not the ingredients. I believe they used to make a great lobster salad starter but this wasn't on the menu. First two course were pretty good.Can't remember what order we had them. Oyster chowder. Cheese plate Main course was poor. I had a seared yellow fin (or some type of tuna). Unfortunately, it was more like warm sushi than actually being seared properly. Noodles it came with were cold (unexpected and kind of yucky). Dessert choices didn't wow us so we passed. This was our anniversary dinner and was a let down. Fin is now off our regular Cape Cod restaurant rotation. Really like it the prior two times we ate here. Not sure what happened. read more

It was "girls" night out for my wife and two sister-in-laws, so my brother and I decided to go to one of our favorite restaurants--Fin (at 800 Main Street, Dennis). We've been to Fin quite a few times over the years. That stretch of 6A from Yarmouth Port to Dennis is filled with a good many quality restaurants, but Fin is easily among the best. We often take out of town guests to Fin (or The Pheasant, just down the road a few blocks) for a fine dining meal. The food is always delicious along with being creative, allowing the quality of the main ingredients to be the stars of the dish (instead of being overwhelmed by sauces or sides), and the service is always attentive without being overwhelming. We were seated on the second floor which is a very comfortable space, if somewhat less bright than the main indoor or outdoor dining areas. But it's also a lot more private and less congested than the downstairs dining areas. Despite the crowds we were promptly seated at our reservation time of 7 pm. We ordered drinks, for me, something new, a Yuzu Martini (vodka and yuzu), very refreshing and my brother ordered a bourbon Manhattan. Both were excellent and served is well through the meal. Eating out with my brother is always a treat, especially since he has an excellent palate and has extensive experience working as a chef at many restaurants over the years around the Cape. He loves to order multiple appetizers/starters instead of the conventional app and an entree. This way you get to taste more dishes without getting overly full. I should point out two things. First, about 85% of the dishes listed on Fin's online "sample menu" were on the menu we were given this evening for those who might wonder about the accuracy of the sample menu. Second, there were many specials--3 appetizer specials and 4 entrée specials. As the name of the restaurant implies, Fin is a seafood forward restaurant and the quality of their seafood is absolutely first-rate. My brother ordered the bluefin tuna pate', the oyster stew, and the fried squash blossoms stuffed with a sea scallop sausage. I ordered, more conventionally, the fried squash blossoms and the bluefin tune with bok choy, Yakisoba noodles, black garlic soy, and fiddlehead ferns. Wow, the food was fabulous and because we're brothers, as opposed to dining with just a friend, a mother-in-law, or a date (lol), we had the chance to try all of the dishes. There was one hiccup with the presentation of the dishes. My main arrived before my app and my brother's oyster stew arrived after his fried squash blossoms. The wait person manager on the floor came over right away to apologize for the mix up, but it honestly didn't matter to us in the least since we were enjoying the flow of the meal and we did make things a tad more difficult for the kitchen by ordering multiple apps in the first place. Two final observations. First, there are so many wonderful things to sample on their menu which you just don't see at most Cape restaurants, e.g., bluefin tuna pate' (a special), bluefin tune itself, big eye tuna (a special), and whole black sea bass, among others. Second, this is yet another fine dining restaurant which does not seem to be suffering from a staffing shortage. There were plenty of staff on the second floor to provide quality service--our main waitperson, the wait person manager, as well as at least two food runners. Final point, for the quality and variety of the seafood as well as the various ways in which it is prepared, we have always found the prices at Fin to be exceedingly reasonable. Many other notable places on Cape charge far more for far less. read more

We frequent Fin every year when we visit Cape Cod in the summer. The menu has interesting and different choices but everything is always delicious, especially this past year we were blown away by the creative dishes and felt they had elevated it even more than in previous years. Disappointing at best. Downright bad at worst. The best thing about the whole experience was our nice waitress Ashley. we've heard great things but this felt like a restaurant opening where the chef is trying to figure things out. We ordered the mussels and they were very under cooked. They did replace with a cooked order and those were very tasty. For the main i had the cod- the fish was cooked fine but most of the potatoes were very under cooked. The taste was reasonably nice though. My husband had the snapper- the fish and sauce were nice but the clams were undercooked. wondering if there's a new chef in the kitchen. sadly, we won't be hurrying back. read more

Prices are reasonable and the food is very fresh and delicious! One of the better places on this part of the Cape. The oyster stew was so delicious! The fried calamari was decent. They have oysters as well and for 1.50 each! What? Next time I'm going to have to get some oysters. My mom ordered the scallops and I ordered the cod. Both were well prepared and better than most other places I've been on the Cape in the Hyannis/Dennis area. The serving size was not small! The chocolate pudding with bacon was okay (skip dessert maybe?)...next time I'd get the tart. The guy across the room ordered it and it looked delicious. When reservations were made, Fin didn't share that they had an outside patio choice for seating. So we dined inside top floor. We would have chose outside. The tables are close to other diners. We sat upstairs. There were 12 adults seated in our space. So close that the server's back hit our table while taking orders. On the exit we had to ask diners to pull their seats in for us to get by. 4 diners, one alcoholic drink each, 1 appetizer each and 1 entree each was $350 before gratuity. Seafood was FANTASTIC. The Chef .. great job... Everyone loved their seafood meal. Steak choice was $56 and a surprisingly small portion. It was just OK. This is a seafood restaurant.. I would stick with seafood. Lots of choices in the town of Dennis to eat at various price points. Glad we tried this. read more

A very grand opening for the season! We had to have the Dennis oysters. A generous 6 per order, they were served my favorite way, chilled with fresh grated horseradish and a mignonette. The oyster chowder with truffle oil is sumptuous, as is the seared scallops with pork belly. The seasonal vegetables like the fiddleheads and ramps were a treat. Desert was a complex and not overly sweet roasted pineapple trifle and a flourless chocolate cake with sesame brittle. Everything was delicious! The service was flawless and elegant. After hearing first hand and reading some of the Elite reviews, I've been looking for an excuse to eat here. Since it's date night and I'm looking for a romantic spot that neither of us had been to, here's the place. Great atmosphere built into an antique cape with soft lighting and intimate seating. The seating supports normal conversation without feeling your neighbor is taking notes. On to the food! We shared the Yellow Fin Tartare to begin. Great cuts of tuna that was mixed with some cucumber and lightly marinated. It had a nice wasabi finish and there wasn't a morsel left once we had our share. Main course... I went with the sirloin and my partner chose the swordfish. Sorry kids, the author does not do swordfish but the intelligent and attractive lady provided a solid report. The beef was sublime and perfectly cooked. A Demi reduction that provided some deep tones to accentuate the bovine delight. Served with creamy mashed that would require a shovel full to satiate this appetite. Top it with superb service and you've got a 5 star experience. We will be back. read more

This restaurant was such an unexpected very pleasant surprise. Hubby and I are staying in West Dennis for July 4th long weekend and were looking for a nice restaurant that doesn't serve the usual fried Cape Cod seafood. I found Fin on Open Table and was happy that I could reserve a table for two on short notice. The restaurant opened a few months ago and our navigation system could not find it. I called for directions and we managed to find it shortly. The food is out of this world. We shared oysters and yellow fin tuna carpaccio app. Both were delicious. For entrees I had the swordfish and hubby had the tuna. They were divine. Very fresh and perfectly paired with side dishes. For dessert we shared the peach tart served with ginger ice cream. Delicious again. Our server Tracy was very attentive and friendly. Am highly recommending this restaurant to anyone visiting the Cape. It's definitely worth the drive. read more

Server was friendly, though the meal was very long (~3 hours) - not necessarily a bad thing in itself, but definitely something to be aware of if you have plans afterward. I'm not personally a fan of oysters, but my group raved about them. My rating is based on the food I ordered, which was the special that day (pork belly and scallops) - 2 others at my table ordered the same, and the pork was very inconsistent - one of the places had primarily (90%+) meat, while my piece was about 70% fat. Had dinner with my husband here tonight. Service was ok. Waitress was very curt and odd. Portions are very small for the price (compared to NYC!), I had the halibut for my main dish and the piece of fish was the size of a granola bar. My husband had the wagyu beef and it was extremely tough, he doubts it was even wagyu. Absolutely no taste to the entrees. It was EXTREMELY bland, we actually had to ask for salt and pepper for our entrees and we weren't the only one to do so. As we were leaving, we saw many other people adding salt to their dishes. This restaurant did not meet my expectations. I came here for dinner with my family and we were all a bit disappointed. We ordered drinks, which came out in a timely fashion but my mom complained that her cocktail was weak. The water girl, however, did a very good job of keeping our glasses full throughout the meal. For our appetizers, we got the Octopus, the arugula salad, and a toro special. The octopus was disappointing and the piece of meat was very small. The salad was nothing special but not bad. The toro was also a bit bland in my opinion. We also ordered some oysters which were good. For my entree I ordered the Waygu beef which was in my opinion cooked well. However, my brother also ordered the beef and his piece was very tough. He could barely chew it and had to ask for another piece that was at least edible, but still much tougher than it should've been for $38. My parents ordered the duck special and the halibut to share for their entrees and while they said the duck was good, they both commented on the halibut and said it was very bland. I tasted a bite and I would agree with them, it was under seasoned and not very flavorful. The presentation of all the dishes we got was quite pleasant, but the flavors did not always match up. After half of the entrees we ordered were very disappointing, we decided it was best to leave for dessert. However, I can Overall, this restaurant was not the best for the price, I would recommend trying another spot. read more

Spectacular Dinner! Started with the Yellow Fin Tuna Tartare. The fish was stunning fresh and delicious! The lotus root was friend so well, letting the flavor of the root not get lost in the fry. Together they married so well. For the main I had the Herbes de Provence Crusted Atlantic Halibut. May be the best Halibut I have ever had. The fish was cooked just right with a light flavor of the fish complimented by the hard crust of the herbs. This was served on vegetables and gnocchi and the gnocchi was amazing. They were super soft and had been pan fried with the fish so they had a great crust on some of them. I finished the meal with a simple blood orange sorbet, sweet and luscious with a wonderful citrus tang. The waitress was amazing! read more

Excellent seafood and other fare! The new chef/owner is creative and talented. The restaurant is small and tastefully decorated. There is outdoor seating as well. We have tried many of the seafood dishes and have never been disappointed the portions are reasonable and they are happy to make dietary substitutions if needed.
